I know a lot of people are worried about The Dark Knight Rises for various reasons. One of the reasons seems to be Tom Hardy?s mouthpiece thing, and how it seems like the audience might not be able to understand a damn thing he says. But most of the angst and worry is focused on poor Anne Hathaway and whether or not she?ll be able to pull off the Catwoman/Selena Kyle role. Honestly, though, I?m looking forward to it. I think she?ll be great. I think her Catwoman will probably be angrier and more damaged than the ?kittenish? (ha), vampy Catwoman portrayals we?re used to. The Dark Knight Rises comes out July 18 – which feels like a long way away, especially considering that Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman are being released in early June (Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!). But Christopher Nolan is so good at releasing bits and pieces of his films to whet the audience?s appetite. So Catwoman and Batman take the cover of the new issue of EW, and here are some interview excerpts:
Christopher Nolan on Bane: Bane is played by Inception alum Tom Hardy. Bane is a cunning, hulking terrorist with a menacing respirator-mask and a small army bent on sacking Gotham City. ?He represents formidable physical strength, combined with absolute evil of intention,? says Nolan.
Nolan on Bane?s mouthpiece thing: Hardy?s Bane has another defining characteristic that perhaps you?ve heard about, or perhaps have heard and didn?t understand: a curiously accented voice that?s further muffled by the rogue?s high-tech muzzle. ?It?s a risk, because we could be laughed at ? or it could be very fresh and exciting,? says Hardy, adding that the voice he developed was influenced by many factors, including a desire to honor the comic book character?s brains and Caribbean heritage. ?The audience mustn?t be too concerned about the mumbly voice,? says Hardy. ?As the film progresses, I think you?ll be able to tune to its setting.?
Nolan on Catwoman: Nolan?s take on the character is no campy sexpot or frazzled ghoul but a shifty cipher, calloused survivor, and world-class criminal. Says Nolan, ?She has a very strong way of protecting herself and those she cares about, which implies an underlying darkness.? Hathaway says she prepared for the role by reading the comics and studying the moves of Hedy Lamarr and Jean Harlow, the two screen legends that inspired the original conception of the comic book villainess.
Anne Hathaway on her transformation: The actress also found herself a trainer. ?I had to physically transform,? says Hathaway, calling from London, where she?s currently shooting Les Misrables with Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. ?Chris sat me down at the beginning and said, ?Joseph Gordon-Levitt did all of his own fighting in Inception. That one zero-gravity fight? He trained for two months.? I basically left his office and went to the gym and just came out about five minutes ago.?
[From Entertainment Weekly]
OK, I?ll admit it – that got me a little excited. I?m so bad with anticipation though. When I find myself interesting in something, I go crazy if I can?t have it right now. I?m currently being driven crazy because I can?t see Prometheus RIGHT NOW, so I?ll have to wait to anticipate The Dark Knight Rises until? oh, mid-June. I?ll pencil it now.
Somebody also released this new, odd image of Anne in her Catwoman costume. This is one of the most bizarre promotional images I?ve ever seen. Her ass looks cute, though. Oh, and look at her ears! Her cat ears. Are you happy, ear-nerds?

Anne Hathaway pulled an Emma Watson the other day, chopping her hair short in a pixie cut for her role in Les Miserables.Thiselicited a “Dear god, what have you done?!,” from everyone on the planet. Nevertheless, all smiles, Anne debuted the new do at The Box nightclub in London last night.
Someone should tell Anne Hathaway that short hair only works on some girls like Morena Baccarin from Homelandand V. Anne and Emma Watson, not so much. In fact, maybe not at all.

Go ahead and call me crazy, but never before have I ever seen Anne Hathaway?s likeness to Winona Ryder, and now, with these photos, it?s ALL I can see. These are new pics of Anne in London a few nights ago – she was leaving The Box with her fianc, Adam Shulman. Anne has been in London, working on Les Miserables for? I don?t know, a month? Two months? Something like that. She?s playing Fantine – thus, the haircut… because Fantine sells her hair (because she’s super-poor). Allegedly, Anne has been losing weight for the role too – the British tabloids claim she?s doing some extreme diet to drop 16 pounds in just a few weeks. Anything to look sickly.
She?s admitted to cutting her daily food intake down to only 500 calories for her latest film role but that?s not the only extreme Anne Hathaway is having to go through. The actress who usually flaunts a thick mane of long brunette locks has trimmed her hair to barely one inch in length, in order to achieve the look of her character in the forthcoming movie, Les Miserables.
The 29-year-old was pictured leaving London?s The Box nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning with the newly cropped do. Pretty Hathaway looked especially gaunt as she left the venue with fianc Adam Shulman and their friends. As they hopped into a taxi she tried to conceal her fresh crop from onlookers who took a while to catch on to her identity.
Grabbing her head as she made her way home, she is evidently still getting used to her short style. Wearing a dark coat and blue jeans, as expected she appeared noticeably slimmer than usual as she has embarked on a hardcore diet for her part in the film.
She plays Fantine, a struggling factory worker who is forced into prostitution to provide for her illegitimate child and ends up selling her hair for financial gain. A film source told the Daily Mirror: ‘Anne is playing a destitute factory worker-come-lady of the night.
‘Unfortunately, she only has 15 to 20 days to lose as much weight as possible – up to a stone-and-a-half – because she?s been filming the scenes showing her fit and healthy, almost slightly chubby. It?s not ideal but, as with any high-budget movie, there are strict time constraints.’
The star looked a far cry from the glamorous situations we are used to seeing her in but for Anne the dramatic decision was all for the greater good.
While many stars opt to don a hairpiece to save their precious tresses, Anne was clearly determined to be as authentic as possible for the musical motion picture.
[From The Mail]
With the weight loss stuff and now Anne cutting off her own hair? I?d say she?s really going for that Oscar, wouldn?t you? I saw Les Mis so long ago, I barely remember the story, but from what I remember, Fantine would be considered a supporting part, correct? Let me look it up? ugh, Wikipedia exhausts me sometimes. But yes, I?m going to say that Fantine is a supporting part, so Anne will be going for Best Supporting Actress nominations. We?ll see, Anne. We?ll see.
WINONA 4 EVA!!!!! Seriously, can?t you see it now?

| Is Anne Hathaway turning into a bridezilla, all for a wedding which may not happen? | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I was surprised more people didn?t yell at me in that Anne Hathaway post two days ago. I asked, ?Hey, isn?t it weird that Anne Hathaway and her fianc are waiting two years after the proposal to get married?? It ended up being a civilized discussion, with no one calling me a dumb, awful slut for even suggesting that something odd might be afloat. I think that while Anne inspires mixed reactions, there?s a general feeling that there?s always more to the story with Anne. Let me be clear: I like Anne a great deal. I think she?s incredibly talented, hard-working, professional, and I even like her public persona, the version of Anne that comes out in interviews. But I think the real Anne is probably more of a handful, more of a drama queen, more of temperamental ?artist? type. I also kind of think that Anne?s going with a long engagement because she?s kind of hoping something better comes along? Perhaps. Anyway, I have another special gift for you – a story about Anne becoming a bridezilla!
Anne Hathaway is deep in the planning stages of her wedding, but it isn?t turning out to be the blissful time she had hoped.
The 29-year-old beauty has been focused on the big day since her November engagement to actor Adam Shulman, 31, but she?s starting to bicker with her husband-to-be about the nuptials Star magazine is reporting.
?Anne?s been in charge of everything from the place settings to the music,? a source said. ?But now, she and Adam are fighting over the size of the wedding. Anne wants it to be small and intimate, while Adam?s family has a potential guest list of over 200 people.?
Friends are becoming concerned that the pair may not make it down the aisle.
?Anne is used to getting whatever she wants so having to compromise with Adam?s family has not been easy. It?s caused a lot of tension in their relationship. She still hasn?t set a date yet,? the source said.
The Oscar host has decided though to have a Valentino wedding dress and she?s being a very generous bride!
?Anne?s bridesmaids will also be wearing Valentino as well. Anne is buying all the dresses, so everyone is excited,? the source revealed.
[From Radar]
Why is she going all bridezilla if the wedding isn?t for another year and a half (which is the date Us Weekly claims)? Maybe the October 2013 wedding date was false – Star Mag says they haven’t named a date. Or maybe she?s not really a bridezilla. Or maybe she really loves Adam and wants to build a drama-free life with him?? Haha. All I know is that I?m getting a weird vibe. My vibes aren?t 100% accurate, but I?ve been right often enough. Something is up!

This is kind of a non-story, but CB and I were talking about it, and I do find it fascinating. Last November, Anne Hathaway got engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Adam Shulman. There were of course some rumors that Anne might have been fooling around on Adam at some point (coughcoughChristianBalecough), but for the most part, Anne and Adam seemed happy together, and Adam seems like a steady, no-drama influence on Anne after her disastrous relationship with con artist Raffaello Follieri. So Anne and Adam got engaged in November, and they just threw themselves an engagement party last month. But guess when their wedding date is? October? 2013!!
Anne Hathaway is no ordinary bride-to-be! Though she won’t walk down the aisle until October 2013, the actress and her fiance Adam Shulman celebrated their love at an engagement party in February. Held in a New York City bookstore, Hathaway opted for unexpected details, like serving vegan fare and tucking her favorite flowers, ranunculus and anemones, inside bird-shaped vases.
“Everything so was fun, just like Annie,” a pal tells the current issue of Us Weekly (out now).
Hathaway’s big day will be filled with equally playful touches. The Devil Wears Prada actress, 29, told one friend she wants cupcakes, while another pal reveals she has selected a venue in upstate New York: “But they’re keeping it a secret until right before!”
Hathaway dated Shulman, 31, for three years before he proposed with a 6-carat, $150,000 ring from Kwiat. “We hit it off immediately, but it took us a pretty long time to get together,” Hathaway has said.
[From Us Weekly]
Doesn?t this seem like an especially long engagement? They?re waiting nearly two years from the proposal to the wedding. Sure, some people do that. Some people just stay ?engaged? for years and years. Some people like to really take the time to plan out an elaborate wedding. So don?t even yell at me and tell me that I?m an idiot for suggesting that ?two years? is a long time to wait. I get it. Every couple is different. Anne and Adam have every right to set their wedding date whenever they want. But I just think it?s weird. My thought was that the ?average couple? probably sets the date 12-14 months from the proposal, but some people say the average is more like 18 months.
So? I guess at the end of the day, I kind of wonder if something is going to happen and Anne ends up canceling the wedding. It?s 19 months away! That?s a long time for Anne to screw around on Adam, you know? You’d think that Adam would want to lock this down sooner.

Taking care of her growling tummy, Anne Hathaway was spotted out and about in Hollywood yesterday afternoon (January 19).
The ?Get Smart? hottie headed into a local eatery where she picked up some carry out goodies, hopped into her black sports car and sped off.
In a recent interview, Anne?s celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe talked about her ability to pull off many different glamourous looks.
Zoe shared, "I think Anne Hathaway has had a few winners. Her Armani Priv last year for the Globes is one of my favorites because it was super-glamorous in a very kind of vintage Hollywood way, but also extremely modern, and I loved that."

Gearing up for what's set to be a grand night in the nation's capital, Anne Hathaway glammed up the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C. on Saturday evening (December 3).
The Oscar-winning actress was clad in a floor-length black strapless Giambattista Valli gown from the resort 2012 collection while joined by fiance Adam Shulman at a reception dinner for the Kennedy Center Honorees.
Spotted early the next morning (December 4) at the Kennedy Center for rehearsals, Anne is lined up to present Meryl Streep as one of the five illustrious recipients of the prestigious accolade bestowed by the event's host, President Barack Obama.
Meanwhile, Miss Streep recently commented on Hathaway's engagement to Shulman while at "A Magical Evening to benefit the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation," saying, "Oh, isn't that great! I wish she were here tonight because I know she would support the Reeve foundation. This is a really, really wonderful organization helping people with spinal-cord injuries."

| Anne Hathaway to Jessica Biel: Stop comparing our careers and STFU | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Every week, I read almost all of the tabloids, but it?s a rare occasion when I read one tabloid story that makes me sit up and scream ?YES!? This is one of those occasions – and this might be one of my favorite stories of the year. First, some backstory. Jessica Biel was the cover girl for the December issue of Elle Magazine, and her Elle cover profile and interview was ROUGH. Personally, I thought she sounded delusional and pathetic – the entire interview was about all of these films that Biel auditions for and never gets, and while I admired her ?nothing ventured, nothing gained? mentality, at some point, Biel becomes a joke. You should really just go read my post on it – I was one of the few people that excerpted big chunks of the interview anyway. Here are the two quotes that are relevant to the story:
Biel on auditioning for Catwoman in the new Batman film: ?Another one that got away. I was gutted. I mean, to work with Christopher Nolan in that kind of role??
Biel on the last time she felt terrified: ?I felt terrified when I was auditioning for Les Miserables, the movie that Tom Hooper is doing. I was terrified to sing in front of him. I auditioned for Fantine, and I sang ?I Dreamed a Dream.? I didn?t get it. I would have loved it.?
[Via Elle Magazine]
Biel doesn?t name-check Anne Hathaway specifically, but those are two parts that went to Anne, and obviously, Jessica Biel thinks she?s on the same ?level,? career-wise, with Anne. Do I even have to explain the ?BITCH PLEASE? of that? Even for those people who don?t care for Anne as a person, please admit that Anne is one of the better actresses of her generation, and at the very least, Anne is a far superior actress than Jessica Biel. Anyway, this Enquirer story is all about Anne being super-pissed at Biel?s Elle interview, and Anne allegedly calling Biel out in private:
Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel are embroiled in a bitter catfight – over who?s a better actress! Jessica was reportedly resentful after losing out on Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, as well as a role in Les Miserables – both roles that went to Anne Hathaway. In a recent interview, Jessica insinuated that she and Anne were in competition for the same choice parts.
The comparison infuriated Anne, and she got word back to Jessica to ?quit complaining? and accept that she?s ?not in the same league when it comes to acting,? divulged an insider.
?In truth, Anne feels she?s a true leading lady who has been nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globes, while Jessica?s movie career doesn?t even compare,? the insider explained. ?In her opinion, Jessica is known for her TV role on 7th Heaven and blockbuster-type movies like The A-Team that show a limited acting range. And not only does Anne feel she?s superior on-screen, she also believes that Jessica showed a lack of professionalism by even making the comparison in the first place!?
?Anne thinks Jessica had an ulterior motive by making it seem like she was stealing roles right out from under her,? added the insider. ?She sees Jessica?s move as premeditated, designed to make casting directors place them on the same level – and possibly to coax them into hiring her over Anne, who makes more per film and is in greater demand. Now Anne?s ready to take this fight to the next level. Anne let Jessica know that if she does another interview with a writing, casting director or director equating the two, she wants a face-to-face meeting. And everyone?s waiting for more fur to fly.?
[From The Enquirer, print edition]
?She sees Jessica?s move as premeditated, designed to make casting directors place them on the same level – and possibly to coax them into hiring her over Anne?? I could see that. I think that in Biel?s mind, if she keeps telling people in interview after interview that she?s auditioning for all of these great parts and that she?ll do ANYTHING for a great role, that maybe, someday, she?ll get her chance. But if Anne is even deigning to shove a ?bitch, please? in Biel?s face, that?s also a win for Biel. Anne acknowledged her – Anne must be threatened! VICTORY. The only way Anne could really win is if she’s asked about Biel and she replied, “Who?”
