These are some new photos of the London premiere of One Day, the romantic-dramedy that I didn?t hate (but everyone else did). Go here for my review - I thought Jim ?Pillow Weeper? Sturgess was solid and weepy, and Anne Hathaway was fine-to-okay, with her accent going wonky at times. I also read the book, which increased my enjoyment of the film - I knew what was going to happen, and I appreciated how faithfully they adapted the book for the screen. The movie didn?t do very well in its opening weekend, but I suspect that it will be a fine rental for many ladies, and at some point, it will end up on endless repeats on Oxygen or Lifetime.
As for the premiere, Annie wore head-to-toe McQueen - she also wore McQueen for the NYC premiere too. The dress is McQueen Resort 2012, and she accessorized with ?a white jaw skull clutch and hazelnut whipstitch peep-toes.? I like the dress, I like the hair, I like the makeup. It?s a win for Annie, in my opinion, although one of my minor peeves is that she wears white much, much too often. And on Anne, all of that white often looks bridal or (dare I say) slightly corpsey, because she?s so pale. Don?t get me wrong, I like that Anne is pale and that she doesn?t fake-bake or anything. But she does tend to look washed out in white. Still, I like this dress on her. It?s like a fancy doily, but a really pretty, well-cut doily.
I don?t even want to talk about the Pillow-Weeper and his itty-bitty bangs trauma.
In my review of the film, I mentioned how much I love Romola Garai, and I was pleased to hear from other Romola fans out there - soon there will be more. She can act her ass off, and she?s gorgeous. Unfortunately, WENN labeled Romola as ?Guest?. DUDE. She?s one of the best actresses in the UK! She?s on The Hour, one of the best shows I?ve seen in a long time (are you watching?!?). Here?s pretty Romola (who should have played Emma in One Day):
And for some reason, Peaches Geldof was also at the premiere. WENN labeled her correctly, which speaks volumes about today?s celebrity culture. Peaches is WAY overdressed too. It?s not your movie, Peaches. No reason to wear a full-on gown.

She?s always up for a high-profile event, and earlier today (August 23) Anne Hathaway was spotted at the UK premiere of her new film ?One Day.?
The ?Princess Diaries? starlet was joined by her costar Jim Sturgess at The Vue Westfield in London, England, and looked ravishing in a lacy sleeveless white dress.
And though she?s had plenty of success with movies, Anne recently called out ?Glee? creator Ryan Murphy for offering her a spot on his show but never delivering on his promise.
Miss Hathaway told press, ?Ryan Murphy goes, ?Anne Hathaway! Come on Glee.? And I said, ?Yes!? and he said ?Fab, I?ll call you.? He went back to the press room and said, ?Anne Hathaway is going to be on the show.? And I never heard from him again. Ryan Murphy, I?m calling you out: I want to be on Glee. I?ve got my songs picked out.?

I was in the mood for something romantic and girly over the weekend, so I ended up seeing One Day, the film that I proclaimed, at one point, that I was never going to see. I read the book, and loved the book? up until the last third of the novel. Then I got so pissed off, I swore up and down that I wasn?t going to get involved. When the previews for the film came out, I once again swore I wasn?t going to see it, this time because Anne Hathaway?s faux English accent seemed wonky as hell, and because Jim ?Pillow Weeper? Sturgess wasn?t my idea of Dexter. So? I guess I have to suck it up. I not only saw the movie, but I enjoyed it. Maybe it helped that I walked in with such low expectations. Or maybe it?s a better movie than you?ve heard.
For those unfamiliar with the story, the basic gist is: Dexter (Sturgess) and Emma (Hathaway) meet and sort-of hookup on their last day of university, on July 15. The book and the film follows Dexter and Emma on every July 15th for the next twenty years, through triumphs and heartbreaks and love and loss. As far as the film being a faithful adaptation of the book, it worked out very well. Surprisingly well, I have to admit. The kept a lot of the book in there, and they even let Hathaway have all of the funniest lines, which is true of Emma in the book. And they kept Dexter a mess, which is also true to the book.
As for the performances of the two leads? I was impressed. They had a great deal of chemistry together, despite the weird little oddness that they kind of look like brother and sister (true story - they look A LOT alike). Anne?s accent work wasn?t her best, but for the majority of the film, it wasn?t actively bad. There were only a couple of scenes where I was like, ?She sounds less English and more like she?s had a stroke.? Sturgess did a wonderful job as a privileged boy who never quite gets it together, and true to his Pillow Weeper moniker, Jim cried and cried and cried. That boy can pull out the waterworks at the drop of a hat, and he?s a better weeper than Anne. But he had moments of real sexiness, and he and Anne played off of each other beautifully.
Two weird little things - Patricia Clarkson has a wonderful little part as Dexter?s glamorous and then tragic mother, and I swear, her accent work was worse than Anne?s. I love Clarkson, so that pains me. Surely they could have found a glamorous English actress for that part, right? Second weirdness: the casting of one of my favorite up-and-coming girls, Romola Garai (see her IMDB here) - she looks like Drew Barrymore and she?s one of the most talented young actresses in the UK (she?s currently starring in the new, wonderful BBC show The Hour). Romola appears in maybe many scenes later in the movie, playing an unsympathetic character that no one cared for in the book, and she made the character extremely sympathetic and lovely, and Romola stole every scene she was in. It struck me that Romola would have been a wonderful choice to play Emma, and in a few years, she IS going to be getting lead roles in Hollywood films. She?s lovely.
So, would I recommend this movie? Go see it if you?re in the mood for a romance, and you don?t mind having a good cry. It will be a good rental too.

| Anne Hathaway is 'grateful' to Duchess Kate for dressing like a lady | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

One Day comes out today. Are you going to see it? I?m debating it. I read the book and hated the last third of the story, and from what I can see, the movie is going to be much, much worse. But I still might see it just because I’m in the mood for a romance. Anne Hathaway has been all over the place this week to promote the movie, and much of it has been meh. I like Anne quite a bit, but she?s one of those people where a little goes a long way. She was on The Daily Show last night - these photos are from outside TDS?s studio, and I want her pants. Badly. Her bit with Jon Stewart was so boring, I don?t even care enough to find the video. Meh.
But here?s something interesting - Anne talking about the Duchess of Cambridge! I didn?t even consider the possibility that Anne could be pro-Kate, but she is. Anne seems to like Duchess Kate mostly for her covered-up, ladylike styles:
Vivienne Westwood may have called Kate Middleton “ordinary” this week but the Duchess has another famous face in her corner: Anne Hathaway. Sitting down with USA TODAY’s Andrea Mandell to talk about her new movie One Day, Hathaway took a royal minute to talk about style.
“Can I tell you how grateful I am to Kate Middleton?” said Hathaway. “Because she is such an advocate for dressing like a lady. I think for a few years that kind of slightly dirty look was adopted by Hollywood - you know, the stringy hair, homeless thing. And I really tried,” she laughs, “I was like ok I’m going to give that a go. (But) it doesn’t suit me, I don’t suit it. I always looked kind of chubby.”
Today she calls Kate’s ladylike wardrobe inspiring. “I’m just very grateful to Kate Middleton for making looking appropriate really fun again,” she says. “So right now my fashion choices are all about Kate Middleton.”
Speaking of fashion, Hathaway dished on getting into Catwoman shape for Dark Knight Rises, which is currently shooting in Pittsburgh. “I had to change my body in order to achieve the shape I wanted for Catwoman,” says Hathaway, noting how each body-hugging catsuit fitting represented personal milestones.
“We fit it over the course of a few months, and every time I would target a different body part we could take off the Spanx,” she laughs. “So it’s not your traditional movie prep.”
It also meant the actress had to stock up on flats. “There’s a reason why she wears heels,” says Hathaway, but “doing stunts in heels is a little hard on your feet. Normally I live in high heels (but) I have to wear flats all day and just kind of save up all my high heel time for the catsuit.”
[From USA Today]
I think I understand what Anne is saying: Kate stands for tailoring, for clothes that fit, for not showing your tatas and your biscuit, for looking occasion-appropriate and pulled together. I will give Kate credit for that too - although if she didn?t do all of those things, she would be viewed as a royal mess. But I still don?t think Kate is particularly stylish, and I find her style more ?dated? than ?ladylike?.
Oooh, more photos of Anne throughout this week. Some of these styles are the opposite of ladylike and flattering. Gurl, Rachel Zoe is phoning this crap in.

She?s one of Hollywood?s hottest ladies, and Anne Hathaway is in the best shape of her life thanks to ?The Dark Knight Rises.?
The ?Get Smart? gal told Chelsea Handler that her role as Catwoman has really forced her to tone up and watch what she eats.
Anne proclaimed that she?s now ?that person? who really gets into the whole exercise routine, though it wasn?t always like that.
Hathaway mused that in the beginning, she remembers ?working out next to a pregnant Jessica Alba, and she could do more push-ups than I could!?
And her Catwoman outfit has given Anne incentive to curb her cravings for comfort foods. ?Right now I?m living on kale and dust!?

One of the reasons to love Anne Hathaway and her exaggerated features and her ghost white skin is she’s kind of pretty and she doesn’t take herself seriously. In fact, she’ll shout-sing a terrible rap she made up that would make even Rebecca Black cringe and she’d feel no shame. Save until the end when she’s overcome with embarrassment.

Arriving on an incoming flight, Anne Hathaway was spotted at LAX International Airport yesterday (August 15).
The ?Get Smart? gal looked lovely in a striped dress as she smiled for the paparazzi while getting into her boyfriend Adam Shulman?s car.
Anne recently told press that her ?One Day? costar Jim Sturgess was worthless when it came to helping her with her English accent for the film.
?Jim was useless. He was no help whatsoever other than not laughing when I screwed up. I worked hard trying to get it right but there were certain words I just couldn?t get. Jim is a lovely guy and a talented actor but he?s no coach!?

Last week, Warner Bros. released the first photo of Anne Hathaway in character as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. The reaction was mixed, with some nerds becoming openly upset (there was a big deal about how there were no cat-ears on the costume), and others basically yawning. Well, Anne has reacted to the reactions, and she?s trying to put up a brave front and show some sass, which makes me feel bad for her. The costume isn?t her call - this is what she was given. And now she?s the only one defending it to MTV - funny considering that MTV didn?t care for the costume either:
When we caught up with Hathaway as she promoted the upcoming movie “One Day,” we didn’t expect her to offer any commentary about the photo ? but she surprised us.
“I was not going to admit it: I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo],” she said. “And I happen to know that MTV’s reaction was ‘meh.??
Now, we’re not sure about the “meh” quote, but we will admit to using the phrases “cautiously optimistic,” “unflattering” and “underwhelming” in our analysis.
Regardless, Hathaway said that no matter the first impressions, there is a lot more happening with that suit.
“What I am happy to say is, if you didn’t like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do,” she promised. “And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste.”
[From MTV]
Poor Anne. In another interview (to promote One Day), Anne said that all of the paparazzi photos from the Pittsburgh set are causing problems for the filming: “It?s disappointing. I think everyone feels a slight frustration with it because those stills so undercut the work that?s being done. I mean, honestly, like, wait till you see this movie. Chris [Nolan] is doing insane things in it. And it?s gonna be marvelous and it?s gonna be way beyond what anyone imagines that it could be. You can?t imagine the things that he?s doing, at least I couldn?t until I read the script and I was like, ?You?re really? Okay, you?re going there!?? Okay, Anne. We get it! We should just wait for the movie. In which Selina Kyle is a stripper.
Or should we? To cap off a series of ?OMG, this film is not going to be as good as The Dark Knight? disasters, Anne?s stuntwoman crashed into an IMAX camera while driving the Batcycle down some stairs. You know her ass got fired too.
And here?s even more footage from the set.

Last night was the big NYC premiere of One Day, that Anne Hathaway-Jim Sturgess film that I?m worried about. I?m worried about Anne?s wonky accent, I?m worried that The Pillow-Weeper isn?t going to be good enough to play Dexter, I?m worried that this movie seems to be getting dumped in the dead of August, where movies go to die. Maybe it?s not such a bad thing - I read the book, and I?m not as in love with the story as some people, so maybe Anne and Jim and everyone involved is just trying to get through minimal film promotion with as little attention as possible.
As for Anne?s dress? it?s McQueen. It?s pretty and it says ?fun party frock?. Look at how tiny her little waist is! She wasn?t always this skinny - they say that she?s been training really hard for The Dark Knight Rises, so this is probably the most fit she?s ever been. To me, she doesn?t really look ?pulled together? but I suspect she just threw this on in between her Catwoman film schedule. Sidenote: did you hear that Catwoman/Selina Kyle has ?a history of abuse and works as a stripper and is also a pickpocket?? Anne Hathaway as a stripper? interesting.
As for Jim ?Pillow Weeper? Sturgess? he looks good. Not particularly masculine or heartthrobby or anything, but he looks presentable and attractive. The itty-bitty bangs trauma still kills me, though. As do his weepy eyes. Also: I added a photo of Patricia Clarkson - she plays Jim/Dexter?s mother in the film.
Would you like the trailer for One Day again? Here you go!

Getting all dolled up for a night on the red carpet, Anne Hathaway looked spectacular as she took to the New York City premiere of "One Day" on Monday night (August 8).
Held at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 theater, the 28-year-old actress joined up with co-star Jim Sturgess as the pair promoted their upcoming romantic drama.
The heartfelt theatrical offering is about Dexter and Em who, after spending the night together on the night of their college graduation, are shown each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives. They are sometimes together, sometimes not, on that day."
Directed by Lone Scherfig, the film also stars Jodie Whittaker, Tom Mison, Jodie Whittaker and Tim Key with a release date set for August 19th.
