A sneak peak at Anne Hathaway’s costume as Catwoman in the upcoming Dark Knight Rises was revealed today, with one very surprising detail–there’s not a pair of kitty ears in sight. MTV.com says,
On Friday morning (August 5), fanboys got their first look at Hathaway in her catsuit after some production stills from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” made their way online.
The pic, however, shows a Catwoman quite different from other film incarnations. There are no feline ears, half-masks or strategically placed costume tears like the ones on Berry’s 2004 getup. Instead, Hathaway, with her hair tied back in a ponytail, sports black goggles and a skintight black jumpsuit while riding what appears to be the Batpod.
When grilled about her role as Selina Kyle, a.k.a. the Catwoman, the 28-year-old actress said nothing. “I signed a blood oath,” she told Total Film on Wednesday, refusing to give up the goods. “Bloody thumbprint on the paper.”
This is probably a smart move by Nolan since he’s going for more of a “real world” feel to his Batman movies (aside from you know, Batman wearing a full-on costume). And walking around with a tail and a pair of kitty ears tends to make people take you less seriously. At least that’s the vibe I get when I go to the grocery store in my Julie Newmar-style Catwoman costume.

The only thing I remember about Catwoman is what I saw from Michelle Pfeiffer in the original Batman movie. That is to say, the only thing I faintly remember is Catwoman wore a leather cat costume, had a whip and licked herself a lot. Normally when a chick does this, you’d call her crazy but if she’s hot, she sort of balances out to normal.
Anyway, Anne Hathaway’s version of Catwoman is more subtle than Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry’s version. She’s done away with the cat ears and instead opted for a pair of fancy riding goggles. Don’t worry though. She still has the skin-tight leather costume which, sadly, also benefits her biggest foes, butt sweat and diaper rash.

Plugging away at her latest gig, Anne Hathaway was spotted on the set of ?The Dark Knight Rises? today (August 5).
The ?Get Smart? gal looked like she meant business as she rode a futuristic motorcycle around the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania set.
In the flick, Anne plays Catwoman alongside Christian Bale as Batman, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman.
Additionally, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Marion Cotillard, and Tom Hardy are in the mix, all under the direction of Christopher Nolan.

Here is the “first image” of Anne Hathaway, allegedly in her Catwoman gear…? I hope to God this isn’t the catsuit, because it just looks so budget. Instead of making me excited, I’m now seriously worried about what Christopher Nolan is doing to these characters. I know I should probably just keep the faith, considering the Heath Ledger thing worked out so well (for film purposes), but… Catwoman… matte pleather suit…fug. Below, I’ve also included some newish photos of Anne on the Pittsburgh set of The Dark Knight Rises. Annie?s playing Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and according to MovieWeb, THIS outfit is part of Anne?s Selina costume. For real! I guess they really wanted to dork Anne up, big-time, before the big Catwoman reveal. Seriously, I hope this isn?t the Selina costume.
Anyway, the Enquirer has an interesting little non-story about how hard Anne is working and how she doesn?t want her performance to be compared to Halle Berry?s disastrous take whatsoever.
Anne Hathaway is hissing that she?s going to make everyone forget that Halle Berry ever played Catwoman. Anne is dieting and exercising to sculpt the perfect body. She?s also perfecting the exact movements and gestures Catwoman should make.
?Anne is determined to make the role unforgettable - and the character a worthy ally for Batman. Anne feels the movie with Halle was overacted to the hilt, with Halle giving wide-eyed stares like a bizarre cat. She believes the director and writers let Halle down, leaving her with an incomplete character and laughable role to play.?
?Anne is putting everyone on notice that she?s going to blow Halle out of the water,? said the insider. ?Anne?s treating it as the role of a lifetime.?

When Anne was on Oprah the day after the Oscars, she talked about waiting for the call-back on the Catwoman gig, and I do get the feeling that Anne really, really wants this and that she?s putting in the hard work. I have a little twinge of hope that Anne?s hard work will pay off, especially with the help of Christopher Nolan?s direction. But seriously, Anne could just show up, put on a latex suit and mutter her lines and she would still be better than that Halle Berry crapfest.

Anne Hathaway covers the September issue of Marie Claire UK, and these are some shots from the cover shoot. I like the pictorial, but I have to admit that I?m primed to like anything with Anne, because I?ve recently become her super-fan. That being said, I don?t think Anne is capable of really mixing it up in photo shoots - her look really isn?t that versatile, you know? She?s not an old-school Nicole Kidman, who can be photographed in a million different ways. You pretty much can only put Anne in pretty clothes and have her ham it up for the cameras.
Before I get into the interview excerpts from Marie Claire, should we talk about the chance that Anne is one half of Lainey?s blind item (the ?Three Weeks? part)? My initial guess was about The Hunger Games, but many of you think it?s about Anne and Christina Bale on the set of The Dark Knight Rises, perhaps. The idea of Bale and Hathaway having some quick, torrid, crazy little affair on the set? it?s not the worst idea. I still have no idea if it?s them, though. Anyway, back to Marie Claire - Anne talks about her boyfriend and how she?s so in lurve. Damage control?!?
The Follieri aftermath: ?People deal with horrible things all the time. Downstairs in this pub someone has a parent who is battling cancer. Someone has just lost their job. Life is really f-cked up and it’s really painful sometimes.?
Anne on meeting Adam Shulman after Raffaello Follieri was sent to jail: “Yes, I have a boyfriend. And yes, I am very much in love with him. But you do need to keep your private life private. Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time and then I fall in love like a fool. Yes, three years. It?s serious!?
She got over the high-profile break-up from Follieri by penning silly songs, explaining laughing at situations which are difficult always helps her cope: ?That was how I got through my pain. I wrote funny songs about it. That?s always been the way I deal with things. You make a joke of it.?
On doing a regional English accent for One Day: ?I?ve never been so nervous about playing anyone as I was to play Emma. There were many reasons to say no to this part. One, because I didn?t think I could pull it off. Two, I was very nervous about the Yorkshire accent.? On the eve of the film’s release she remains ‘terrified’ at the response, especially from One Day fans. Careful not to give too much away, she says of the film’s dramatic ending: ?I literally thought I’d misread it. I felt like I’d been punched in the stomach. I was crying and gulping for air. Very few movies are honest about love.?
Turning 30: ?I think it’s the beginning of a process that really blossoms when you hit 30. It’s when you stop apologising for who you are. It’s nice not to know things and that’s OK. People aren’t going to judge you for asking questions. That’s such a freedom.?
On finding success: ?Success is such a subjective thing. Certainly when I was starting out, I just had this unbelievable pressure to get jobs. “Gotta work! Gotta work!” I am hard on myself, but that has changed. Now I do it with hope.?

I?m worried about Anne?s accent in One Day too. In the trailer for the film, Anne seems OFF. I mean, she looks like how I would imagine Emma, and I know Anne is a very capable actress, but this might be one of those times where the come-and-go accent really takes me out of the movie. The last time that happened was when I watched The Reader - Kate Winslet?s accent work was fine, it was Ralph Fiennes?s weird accent that bugged. It?s like he only did the German accent when he remembered, which was only in a few scenes.

Kicking off her week with travel, Anne Hathaway was spotted touching down at JFK airport in New York City alongside her beau Adam Shulman on Monday (July 25).
The 28-year-old brunette kept it casual for her return to the States, wearing a pair of overs-sized sunglasses, white t-shirt and black plants as she made her way through the transportation mecca following a relaxing Italian getaway with her man..
Meanwhile, the "Love & Other Drugs" actress is readying herself for her highly-anticipated next role in the new Batman movie by hiring a personal trainer to perfect her physique, "Anne is working out five days a week. She's taking it very seriously and wants her body in tip-top condition," a source told "The Mail."
Detailing her heart-pumping efforts, the insider added, "Secretly she hopes to upstage Halle Berry, who last played Catwoman. She's doing dance classes, weight-training and cardio - she wants to be the sexiest Catwoman ever."

Taking a well-deserved break from her seemingly endless work efforts, Anne Hathaway joined boyfriend Adam Shulman for a romantic holiday in Capri, Italy.
The "Dark Knight Rises" actress looked summertime chic in an olden days periwinkle blue one-piece suit as she and her beau splashed about in the water during a cruise on designer Valentino's yacht.
The trip comes as Miss Hathaway recently spoke with Harper's Bazaar about life with her latest love, Mr Shulman, as she said, "So far, it's worked out great."
Anne continued to tell that Adam is much more mellow than previous romances, "which has its wonderful side, of course, but also it was exhausting, and sometimes it would freak me out. Mellow doesn't always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life."

I think that at this point, most people have forgotten that Anne Hathaway had a four-year relationship with an Italian con artist who bilked some of the most powerful men in America and Europe out of millions of dollars. Anne hasn?t really been asked about Raffaello Follieri in a while (she dumped him in June 2008, just before he was arrested), although she?s said some indirect things about him in some recent interviews. It seems that most people didn?t want to believe that Anne was in any way involved in Raffaello?s white-collar crimes, and she was largely given a pass by the media, by Hollywood and by her fans. Once he pleaded guilty and was sent to jail, Raffaello did maintain that Anne had nothing to do with his schemes directly, but he did blame Anne and the Hollywood crowd for giving him unreasonable aspirations, a motive to lie, steal and cheat people out of millions of dollars.
Anyway, the Enquirer has an interesting story about Anne and Raffaello - according to sources, they?re still talking. And he?s due to get out of jail next year!
Even though Anne Hathaway has a hot new romance, she is still in touch with jailed ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, who was convicted of money-laundering and wire fraud, and who is currently serving a four-year prison sentence.
?The two have been exchanging letters, and Raffaello has even been giving business and career advice to Anne from behind bars,? revealed an insider.
Anne is dating Adam Shulman, 30, but she still has deep feelings for the convicted fraudster, says sources.
?She?s never stopped caring for him and still respects him,? confided the insider. ?Anne is very much with Adam, but that hasn?t stopped her reconnected with Raffaello.?
Friends are now urging her to stay away from Follieri, who will likely be released next year. A source noted: ?It?s obvious Anne still has warm feelings for him. As much as she loves Adam, Anne will always have a strong connection to Raffaello.?

I hope this isn?t true, but you never know. If you?re interested, you should totally go back and read the Vanity Fair piece about the scandal - there are lots of interesting details about Anne and Follieri?s ?passionate? relationship, including accusations that Anne was, at the time, a massive drama queen. When she dumped him, she did it over the phone and her breakup line was: ?You were the love of my life. I?ll always love you. You know that, baby.? If Anne is truly that much of a drama queen, I do believe she would stay in contact with Follieri, just for the excitement.

At this point, I’m not sure if Anne Hathaway can even tan. She’d burst into flames if she was in the sun longer than 5 minutes. I’m surprised people weren’t rushing up to her at The Naked Heart Foundation and clutching her wrist to see if she still had a pulse. Her body bounces off so much light that most of the time she looks like a ball of pure energy.
