After multiple promotional runs for her critically-acclaimed film ?Les Miserables,? Anne Hathaway is finally enjoying a night out at the 2013 Critics'Choice Movie Awards in Santa Monica, CA.
The 30-year-old actress worked the red carpet this evening (January 10) in a hot metallic number before heading inside to the Barker Hangar.
Miss Hathaway is up for a Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the musical, alongside Judi Dench, Ann Dowd, Sally Field, Amy Adams, and Helen Hunt.
Best Picture hopefuls include, ?Argo,? ?Beasts of the Southern Wild,? ?Django Unchained,? ?Les Miserables,? ?Life of Pi,? ?Lincoln,? ?The Master,? ?Moonrise Kingdom,? ?Silver Linings Playbook,? and ?Zero Dark Thirty.?
Meanwhile, Bradley Cooper, Daniel Day-Lewis, John Hawkes, Hugh Jackman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Denzel Washington are all in the running for Best Actor.
And the Best Actress nominees include Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Lawrence, Emmanuelle Riva, Quvenzhane Wallis, and Naomi Watts.

The National Board of Review Awards were held last night in NYC. I tend to think of the NBRs as the most prestigious of all of the critics? awards, but that might be a dated idea. It was definitely true a decade ago, but since then, various critics? awards (like the NYFCC and the LA Critics Awards) have vied to become AS important, as much of an Oscar-harbinger as the NBRs. You can see the full list of 2013 NBR winners here. As for Anne Hathaway, she was there because Les Miserables won Best Ensemble. Annie wore Saint Laurent Spring 2013 ? a black tuxedo with flamboyant cuffs. I?m fine with the suit ? I like when younger girls wear suits to these industry events. My problem is with her hair, which seems to be at a self-imposed awkward phase. At this point, I think Annie is only trimming the back and leaving the front too shaggy. It?s the reverse mullet. PS? I dig her black mani & pedi. It?s matchy-matchy, but it?s cute.
Here?s Emily Blunt in Emilio Pucci ? I like this dress on her a lot, and she looks good with John Krasinski. John was probably there because he co-wrote Promised Land, which picked up a ?Freedom of Expression? Award.
Amanda Seyfried (also there for Best Ensemble) in Bottega Veneta. It?s an okay dress, but it kind of washes her out, which is very easy to do considering her coloring. Why doesn?t she stick to darker colors? I don?t get it.
Jessica Chastain won Best Actress for Zero Dark Thirty. She wore Alexander McQueen and she made McQueen looks boring. Ugh, Jessica. Let me style you! I will have you looking like a ginger goddess in no time! You should be aiming for Rita Hayworth, not Duchess Kate.

Facing the bitter cold city winds, Anne Hathaway and hubby Adam Shulman took a walk in Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday afternoon (January 8).
The happy couple grabbed two delicious juices as they strolled along the urban streets with their adorable dog Esmeralda.
During a recent interview on the "Daily Show," Miss Hathaway chatted about an embarrassing blooper that occurred on the set of "Les Miserables."
While filming a crucial scenes, Anne tripped on her costume, but she explained, "I tried to sing, and I can't. And Amanda's hugging Eddie, and she's just like 'What the f*** is going on?'"
"Les Miserables" is in theaters now!

I think I?ve figured out one of the big problems many of us have had with Anne Hathaway?s Oscar campaign thus far ? I mean, beyond the ?I won?t talk about my extreme weight loss, except I?ll talk about it nonstop because it?s a centerpiece of my campaign but I?m going to be twitchy about it? thing. No, the bigger issue is that Anne?s campaign is so blatant, so full-on, so in-your-face. Other celebrities have found a way to campaign but still leave some mystery, some of the withholding dance. Not Anne. She?s been doing non-stop interviews, non-stop magazine covers, non-stop promotion. Her publicist needs to encourage her to take it down a notch, because overexposure can really hurt an Oscar campaign too.
Anyway, here?s yet another magazine interview for Annie. She covers the February issue of Harper?s Bazaar UK, and I?m not crazy about the photo shoot. They made her look haughty, right? And she already has a kind of haughty look, so this doesn?t help. You know what else doesn?t help? That even I, a Hathaway Apologist, find this interview super-annoying:
With her much lauded performance in Les Misrables garnering praise and box office gold aplenty, you’d think Anne Hathaway would be on top of the world. But the 30-year-old actress, who is being hyped for an Oscar for her performance as Fantine in the film, has revealed her inner torment at not being ‘cool.’
Hathaway hates that she’s seen as a ‘bizarre-world good-girl character’, and feels she’s labelled as ‘very vanilla, very sweet, very accessible and not interesting,’ despite posing in a corset for a racy new shoot for Harper’s Bazaar magazine.
‘I’m not Rihanna,’ she told the fashion mag. ‘I’m not cool. When people come up to me in the street, they often want a hug not a photo, and they want that because they like my work. For a long time it was me and her [her manager] against the world. I was seen as this bizarre-world good-girl cartoon that I in no way identified with ? very vanilla, very sweet, very accessible and not interesting. I had no grit, no sex appeal.’
Hathaway, who married Adam Shulman in September, also worries now that she’s hit 30.
She said: ‘It doesn’t help that the new crop of girls is so gorgeous, and so 22 years old,” she said of her recent birthday. “But I’m excited about it.’
Hathaway also admitted that her husband makes her too happy to channel the misery she needed for Les Misrables.
‘He walks into a room, and I light up. I can’t help it’ she said. ‘A few days into it [filming Les Misrables] I said ‘I’m having too much fun, I just want to play with you and I need to be really sad right now.’ ‘
She said: ‘I knew from the second I met him that he was the love of my life.’
After an amazing year, it seems that Anne might be ready top settle down, after admitting to wanting a family.
She told Stella Magazine: “I’ve wanted to be a mom since I was 16. I’m 30 and I want to have a family of a certain size. I’ll start with one healthy kid but I’d like to have a few naturally and adopt. I gotta get on it, you know? I’d like to have as many as I can afford, not just financially but in terms of time, because you want to make sure each one feels special.’

Self-awareness is a good thing, but at some point, self-awareness crosses a line into a sort of hyper-aware, neurotic, vapid narcissism where a person seems solely focused on how other people see them. I?m not saying Annie has crossed that Rubicon here, but she?s closing in on it. I get the feeling that Anne wants to wring all she can out of two dueling and contradictory images ? she wants older Oscar voters to still see her as vanilla and princess-y, but she wants Hollywood producers and directors to see her as cool, dangerous and sexy, her new image. But you know what really bugs? That Anne has been consistently painting herself as the underdog, the also-ran, the outsider. She?s not ? she?s Establishment. She?s seen as one of the best actresses of her generation, and one of the few younger actresses who can carry a film. She really needs to re-vamp this campaign, right?

The Los Angeles Times did a long, magazine-like profile of Anne Hathaway, all part of promotion for Les Miserables and for Anne?s Oscar campaign, of course. It?s an interesting piece ? you can read the whole thing here. The article doesn?t editorialize as much as a magazine piece would, but the vibe is definitely ?Annie suffers terribly because she?s always trying to break out of the goody-two-shoes mold.? There?s also a vibe of ?Annie suffers terribly because she?s such a perfectionist and so, so neurotic.? Which she is, in all honesty. She?s a perfectionist, she?s really neurotic about doing a good job and not letting anyone down, and good for her. When men have those qualities, we consider them geniuses. So I?m fine with that, but this whole ?Annie doesn?t want to be seen as a princess? thing is kind of meh. She has a lot of fans because women young and old think she?s classy and a half-decent role model for young women. Of course, that was before Annie flashed her biscuit. Anyway, here are some highlights from the piece:
Attending Vassar and NYC (to get a BA): “I felt a certain degree of failure in going to school at first because I couldn’t put it off by having a job” in acting, she acknowledged.
On the criticism for her co-hosting the Oscars in 2011: ?I walked around feeling sick to my stomach for a week,” she admitted.
Comparisons: “I see the sort of work that people like Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet can do, and I want to do that level of work so badly,” said the actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for “Rachel Getting Married” but didn’t win (the three women she referenced all have Oscars to their names). “But I don’t believe I’m as gifted as them. So the only thing I can control is how hard I work at it ? how much do I commit to it? How far will I take it?”
Losing weight for Fantine: “Tom [Hooper, the director] didn’t like what I was doing, but he understood why I was doing it,” Hathaway countered. “No one liked what I was doing. By the end, people were hugging me and they would get emotional because I felt so frail.”
She?s neurotic: “If I have an extra glass of wine the night before I shoot a scene,” she said, “I don’t feel good about myself because of that. If I see it on-screen, the guilt is immediate. I feel like maybe I’ve let the scene down.”
She really felt it when she sang ?I Dreamed a Dream?: “The second all of those feelings that Fantine was feeling were turned on me, they were savage ? they were animalistic, they had teeth and talons and they were shredders,” she said. “I tried not to think about myself that day because I was in a very unkind place. Fantine did nothing wrong. And I think that’s where I was getting in a lot of pain because of it. She’s innocent.”
Inherited perfectionism: “I think I’ve always taken acting very seriously and almost with a certain degree of earnestness because my mother was so talented and didn’t work a lot,” she explained.
Her career post-Fantine: “I just feel that now I’m being viewed very differently,” she said. After other roles, she said, “I’d think ? ‘Oh, this is the moment’ ? I’m playing a recovering drug addict. But there was always a kind of push back, like, ‘Oh, she’s not that sexy.’ People were trying to put me in the good girl category or the bad girl category, and this is the first time I’ve ever been seen as a whole.”
Marriage: “I know it sounds really eager, but I’m super psyched to be married,” she said. “I feel very blessed in this moment, because I’m going through something that you could easily get swept up in, and I just want to go home and hang out with my husband every day. Letting yourself be taken care of is the most remarkable experience. I don’t fall apart as much, because I know I can.”

I know some of you will throw a ?bitch please? at Anne for name-checking Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet, but in her defense? she?s not outright saying ?I am their heir? or ?I?m going to be just like them!? It feels more like she?s fan-girling, and honestly asking ?I?m not as good as them, what can I do to be as good as them??
By far, the most interesting part of the story was when they go into how Anne filmed ?I Dreamed a Dream?. Anne kept asking the director for more takes, and she kept going and going until she had sung the song more than 20 times. Tom Hooper kept telling her that she gave the perfect take on Take 4, but Anne kept trying to be MORE perfect. Finally, Hooper told her to stop and Anne says, “And I was like, ‘Fair enough.’ I never bettered it.? When asked if she liked the version that ended up in the film, her reply is ?Eh.? I mean? she?s a perfectionist. She?s neurotic. She IS a goody-two-shoes. But why is that a bad thing?

Poor Anne Hathaway. Have we forgiven her yet? I?m dying to forgive her! But that?s just me ? I?m a Hathaway Apologist. Yes, I find her annoying and full of it, but I think she?s talented and I enjoy her. Sometimes I enjoy yelling at her. Anyway, today we?re going to hear about some of Annie?s latest Oscar campaign moves. She?s stopped talking about her poor, maligned vadge (sort of) and she?s moved on to other things? things that will hopefully win her that Oscar! First off, you know these hideous, terrible, atrocious Tom Ford ?boots? that she wore during her beav-flash? They were completely animal-free. Annie is all vegan, all cruelty free now:
Anne Hathaway wowed onlookers when she stepped out on the red carpet of the Les Misrables premiere in her strappy leather bondage boots. But if you wanted to recreate her look at home, you can think again because not only did Anne’s killer boots come with a four figure price tag, but they were custom-made with faux leather to keep in line with her Vegan roots.
Hathaway showed her commitment to cruelty-free ethics when she stepped out in head-to-toe spring 2013 Tom Ford, along with the custom-made vegan version of his gladiator dominatrix boots. And it wasn’t just her red carpet footwear that she demanded adhered to her morals.
According to Footwear News, all of her character Fantine?s shoes had to be custom-made to be vegan for the actress.
‘[Hathaway]?s vegan, so we couldn?t use any animal materials on the shoes for her character Fantine,’ costume designer Paco Delgado told the magazine. ‘We had to find very specific shoemakers to create lace-up boots and ankle boots.’
Hathaway first became a hard-core vegan after her role The Dark Knight Rises.
Speaking to USA Today at the time, she said: ‘After I finished the rooftop fight, I ate four slices of pizza and split a bottle of red wine with my guy. I hadn?t eaten like that in months. I felt so ill. By the time the movie finished, I decided to give veganism a try. You can?t go hog-wild as a vegan.’

Basically, she?s talking about her diet and her weight loss again, and she?s wrapping it up with her cruelty-free lifestyle. I?m not really sure if this part of her Oscar campaign, but it probably wouldn?t hurt, I guess. It actually reminds me of Natalie Portman?s Black Swan Oscar campaign ? Portman kept talking about her veganism (and how she gave it up partially while pregnant) around that time too.
But, I know for sure that this next story is about Annie?s Oscar campaign. Anne just admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that she had a ?secret? broken arm earlier this year:
“I broke my arm and kept it a secret… I broke it when I finished Les Miserables, just before Batman press came out. I fell off my bicycle and that’s how I broke it and when my husband (Adam Shulman) went to pick up my pain meds (medication), the pharmacist was like, ‘Catwoman can’t ride a bike?’ So I was like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t let anyone know about this.’ I managed to keep it a secret. Until now.”
Hathaway even had to undergo surgery, but she outfoxed reporters on her press tour by taking off her splint before interviews, revealing, “I had to have surgery, so I didn’t have to have a cast, I just had a removable splint.”
However, the beauty is no stranger to broken bones – the accident-prone star has previously fractured her pinky, coccyx, and left arm – twice.

I really don?t understand why it was a big deal to let people know she had broken her arm? WTF? It wasn?t like there was an insurance issue ? she clearly states that it was AFTER she finished filming Les Mis. There?s no insurance issue. She wasn?t working. So why would she need to ?hide? her injury, unless it was simply to let people know NOW that she aches and breaks bones for her ART? Incidentally, do you think it?s a coincidence that she broke something shortly after going vegan and starving herself for Les Mis? Hilariously, my mother was very upset about Anne Hathaway?s beav shot last week. My mom is a big Hathaway fan ? I think a lot of ?moms? are, right? Moms think Annie is classy, ladylike, princess-y. They think she?s a good role model for young women. But role models aren?t supposed to flash the beav. My mother asked, ?Was it on purpose? Did she want people to see? Why wasn?t she wearing her drawers? What did it look like?? Seriously, she asked all of those questions. I think a lot of asked those questions. But has the ?Annie flashed the beav for her Oscar campaign? narrative been established? Or do we still want to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she didn?t flash it on purpose? I don?t know. But ?sources? claim that Anne is really worried that her beav is going to cost her an Oscar!!

A source close to the situation tells Hollywoodlife.com that Anne is afraid that this momentary mishap may have a lasting impact.

The source points out one reason Anne is so distraught over her commando catastrophe is because she is afraid it has cast a shadow over a project that is very special to her.

Whether or not it was a stunt, I do think Anne?s poor beav probably did hurt her. I think a lot of Academy voters think like my mom ? Anne is classy and ladylike, and ?she should know better.? Plus, I think Anne handled it the wrong way, sort of. I think more people would have liked to see her laugh it off, you know? It?s JUST a beav. It?s not like she got all coked up and punched someone. Taking care of some media duties, Anne Hathaway paid a visit to Rockefeller Center in New York City for an appearance on ?Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? last night (December 11).
The ?Dark Knight Rises? hottie was in great spirits as she chatted about her new movie ?Les Miserables,? slated to hit theaters on Christmas Day.
During her time on the show, Anne also participated in a rousing round of Mad Libs Christmas Carols, in which fans submit nouns, verbs, and adjectives to be randomly inserted into Holiday classics.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hathaway commented to Vanity Fair regarding her upskirt moment at the ?Les Mis? premiere on Monday- "I was getting out of the car and my dress was so tight that I didn?t realize it until I saw all the photographers? flashes. It was devastating. They saw everything. I might as well have lifted up my skirt for them!"

Here are some photos from last night?s Museum of Moving Images Salute to Hugh Jackman. Hugh?s BFF Anne Hathaway was there of course, as was Hugh?s wife Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh?s Les Mis costar Eddie Redmayne, who grows cuter by the day. I?m including photos of all of them. Let?s discuss Anne first! She wore this Nina Ricci Spring 2013 dress which? I like. I don?t love it. I feel like this is ?safe? and it?s definitely in Anne?s comfort zone. It?s weird to me that this came one night after Annie?s controversial head-to-toe Tom Ford look. Do you think this is a conscious choice by Anne and by her stylist Rachel Zoe? To do such a strong, controversial look for the premiere and then one night later do something much more ?normal?. And this ? more than anything else ? is why I want Anne to be nominated for an Oscar. Because of the awards season fashion.
As for Hugh? I?m starting to feel the groundswell of support for Hugh, aren?t you? The reviews are coming in, and many critics have mixed feelings about many of the people involved? except for Hugh. Hugh is getting some of the best reviews of his life. Hugh carries the film, and apparently he carries it well. I do think that the time has come for Hugh to be rewarded with an Oscar nomination. I don?t know if he?ll actually get the Best Actor award or if he SHOULD win, but I would be so, so pleased to see him get a nomination.
