You know what bugged me about the Anne Hathaway Backlash (meaning the original backlash against Anne, not the backlash against the backlash)? I was annoyed that everybody started hating on her on Oscar night when really she had been MUCH more annoying in the months preceding the Oscars. Anne?s Oscar campaign (beav-flashing, incessant weight loss talk, endless conversations about her hair) was a pain in the ass. While I thought her Oscar Nips and her little-girl voice were supremely annoying, it was just the cherry on top of Anne?s insufferable campaign. Still, you know I?m a Hathaway Apologist. I like her despite her annoying campaign and her Oscar Nips and Oscar Beav. I like the ?real? Anne. The real Anne is a pill, a drama geek, a nerd. The real Anne is a talented professional who judges you for not being more like her. I want her to go back to that version of herself.
Anyway, Anne has been reading what you Hathahaters have been saying, and she?s super-sad about it. She wants to quit acting because you guys treat her like she?s worse than Osama Bin Laden!
It?s not every celebrity that can say they?re more despised than Osama Bin Laden. A Google search for ?Anne Hathaway? and ?hate? yields a staggering 31 million hits ? while a similar search about the terrorist mastermind results in only 21 million.
Such is the state of Anne?s crumbling reputation among audiences. Anne may have nabbed the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, but she?s losing the popularity contest in a major way and is desperate to repair her image.
?Anne?s in shock and has been in tears over it nonstop,? a source discloses. ?She?s even sobbed to one friend that she feels like leaving the business for good and vanishing, like Brigitte Bardot? She?s really worked herself up.?
Ironically, those irksome theatrics are to blame for her bad rap. As Anne?s star rose, so did her air of saccharine smugness and transparent self-congratulation. But Anne is baffled.
?She?s in a real mess over it and keeps asking her husband, ?Why?? She keeps trawling the Internet looking for answers, but it only makes her feel worse. It?s put her in a really dark place.?
She?s determined to turn the tide of public opinion ? ?She?s starting to realize that she needs to relax and stop that irritating fawning and gushing thing. She wants to be taken seriously, but instead she?s just coming across as manufactured and desperate.?
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
For the love of?!!! I feel like that opening paragraph was something from The Onion. “Half of all Americans think Anne Hathaway is WAY wore insufferable than Bin Laden. 33% of Americans think Ayman al-Zawahiri should wear more jewel tones. One-quarter of Americans think Gwyneth Paltrow is coordinating no-carb, no-daily diets with al Qaeda.” For what it?s worth (meh), Gossip Cop got a quote from Anne?s rep who says that this report is crap and Anne ?is about to commit to her next project? and she?s about to begin voice work on Rio 2. My advice to Anne still holds ? earlier this month, I advised Anne to keep her head down for a few months, then come back with one or two interviews about how she was ?hurt? by the backlash, but not TOO hurt and woe-is-me. I also think there?s a good chance that Anne will get pregnant this year and that will give everyone something new to focus on.

Looking a tad weary after a long flight, Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman arrived at LAX Airport from New York City on Wednesday (March 13).
The "Les Misrables" star looked cute in a gray top, ripped blue jeans, and a long gray patterned scarf as she stayed close to her hubby.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the 30-year-old actress is being considered to star in another movie musical hoping to find success on the silver screen.
According to sources, Anne may play Eliza Doolittle in the new film adaptation of "My Fair Lady." The last time the Broadway staple hit the big screen was in 1964, when Audrey Hepburn took on the role of Eliza.

Getting an early start on their day, Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman showed up at LAX International Airport to catch a red eye flight this morning (March 6).
The ?Get Smart? gal and her handsome hubby looked cool and casual with funky multi-colored socks as they cleared airport security and headed off to their gate.
Meanwhile, Anne?s ex-lover Raffaello Follieri (who did jail time for 14 counts of conspiracy, money laundering, and wire fraud) is begging for a pardon from President Barack Obama so that he can return to America and do business.
An insider told press, ?He claims to be purchasing an energy company in Switzerland. He?s having a hard time getting cash. He can?t figure out why, duh.... He misses America, and when he gets enough money he wants to lobby for a presidential pardon.?

| Anne Hathaway 'threw a fit' over her dress drama the night before the Oscars | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last week, I wrote about Anne Hathaway?s Oscar Dress Drama, which was basically a week of hyper-criticism and speculation aimed at Anne because she was supposed to wear a specially-made Valentino gown to the Oscars, but she ended up wearing that Pink Prada disaster instead. A few days after the Oscars, we found out that Anne had learned the night before the Oscars that Amanda Seyfried was going to be wearing an Alexander McQueen gown that resembled her Valentino. What we did not know ? before now! ? was exactly what went down when Anne discovered the situation:
Cosette made Fantine very, very upset. Us Weekly has brand-new details on what went down between Les Miserables costars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried the day before the Academy Awards — and caused a panicked Hathaway to ditch her planned Valentino gown in favor of a Prada creation for her Oscar-winning night.
An insider close to the situation tells Us Hathaway learned during an Oscar rehearsal at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 22 that Seyfried planned to wear a dress notably similar to hers to the ceremony. After Hathaway asked about her pal’s dress, Seyfried graciously shared an iPhone snap of the Alexander McQueen creation.
“Anne was like ‘WTF?!’” the source reports. “She started throwing a fit!” The 30-year-old Best Supporting Actress victor, however, “never told Amanda she had to change the dress.” Still, Seyfried, 27, was ruffled by Hathaway’s tirade. “Amanda didn’t want to deal with it and left” the rehearsal, the source notes.
But the drama didn’t end there — spilling into Oscars Sunday, as Hathaway fretted over the switch-up with her glam squad at home. “Anne made the fashion, make up, hair, and jewelry teams wait at her home for hours as she decided what to do about the dress debacle,” a second insider tells Us. The star also “asked for silence so she could rehearse her singing for the Les Mis tribute at the Oscars. It was a painfully long experience.”
Hathaway acknowledged the kerfuffle in a surprising statement released by her publicist earlier this week. “It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans,” the “I Dreamed a Dream” singer said. “Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
“I kind of can’t understand why Anne didn’t wear the Valentino gown, anyway,” the first source opines. “She was the one winning the award, not Amanda. Who cares?”
[From Us Weekly]
Yeah, I don?t think Anne should have released that public apology to Valentino. A private apology, sure ? especially since Anne is close with Mr. Valentino and she?ll likely wear his clothes again. It?s not HER fault nor is it Valentino?s fault that Amanda Seyfried wore a Sarah Burton/McQueen gown which was so strikingly similar. But I just get the feeling that Anne was and IS so incredible tightly-wound that when one part of her Oscar strategy faltered (the dress!), it felt like her whole world was crashing down. Here?s what I don?t get though ? why did Anne end up picking that terrible Prada? Surely she had better back-up options than that?
PS? looking at Amanda?s gown and knowing Anne?s Valentino was so similar, I can?t even say that Anne would have knocked it out of the park in the Valentino. She would have looked like a lace-covered ghost.

It was a momentous occasion when Anne Hathaway scored the Best Supporting Actress Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards on Sunday night (February 24), however the ?Les Miserables? actress felt bad for ditching her Valentino dress in a last-minute decision.
Hathaway had learned that several other ladies would be wearing frocks from the Italian designer and eventually opted to change her selection to a Prada gown.
And it turns out she regrets the switch- Anne told press, "It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans.?
"Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused."

| Anne Hathaway practiced her Oscar speech because she's 'aware' of the backlash | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

GAH! I want this sweater coat. I?m not into the (admittedly) pretty maxi dress or the snakeskin purse (?), but I really want the coat. These are photos of Anne at a breakfast business meeting in Brentwood yesterday ? perhaps she?s lining up her next project?? So far, Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway?s next films are going to be a hodge-podge of non-Oscar-bait fare, like the sequel to Rio (the animated film) and a part in her friend Joseph Gordon Levitt?s Don Jon?s Addiction (which looks rough). She?s also rumored to be attached to some Steven Spielberg Robo-something movie with Chris Hemsworth. So? no prestige pictures yet.
Meanwhile, everyone is still dealing with the Hathaway Backlash. As in, there was a backlash against her little girl voice and her cloying and her LOOK AT ME-ness. What?s horrible is that some of you accused me of being part of the backlash! Have you not been following my coverage of poor Annie? I actually like her, and I?m a full-on Hathaway apologist. Yes, she?s annoyed me at times but I was still rooting for her (mostly because she makes news and she?s fun to cover). So please don?t confuse me with all of the people with a Hathaway Hate-On. That?s not me! Although I will throw a side-eye at her for playing the victim in the wake of her Oscar win:
Practice makes perfect! After facing some backlash over her emotional Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA acceptance speeches, Anne Hathaway worked very hard on preparing her thank-you for the Oscars.
After winning the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award on Sunday, Feb. 24, the Les Miserables actress admitted that her feelings were hurt by criticism. “It does get to me,” Hathaway, 30, said. “But you have to remember in life that there’s a positive to every negative and a negative to every positive.”
Though the actress tries to brush off the negative comments, a source tells Us Weekly that Hathaway did practice her Oscar speech a lot to try and be more likable. “She was very aware that she had been the butt of everyone’s jokes,” the source says.
Hathaway also worried about picking the perfect gown for her big night. “My dress is Prada and I didn’t know what I was wearing until about 3 hours ago,” she told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.
“Procrastination?” the E! host asked.
“No, I think I was just working too hard,” she explained.
Indeed, the source tells Us that Hathaway had four dresses in the running including a dress by Valentino, who designed the gown she wore to her September 2012 wedding to Adam Shulman. But the actress ultimately settled on the revealing Prada dress, telling Seacrest, “It was the one that spoke to me.”
The pale Pink design featured pointy darts on the bustline that inspired a HathawayNipple Twitter account. Spoofing Hathaway’s acceptance speech, one tweet said, “Here’s hoping that someday — in the not too distant future — my wardrobe misfortunes will only be found in stories and never more in real life.”
[From Us Weekly]
Sure, there?s a ?damned if she does, damned if she doesn?t? vibe about this. Some people are going to be critical of Anne no matter what. I don?t care that she worked on her acceptance speech ? she came into the Oscars as a ?sure thing? and she?d won every award up until that point. What bugs me is that she practiced her Oscar speech? and her speech was super-annoying. The baby voice has to go ? people aren?t expecting Anne to be a breathy little girl with a ?sexy baby? voice. That?s totally Kardashian/Paris Hilton. Just talk like a normal adult woman and everyone will like it so much better.

| Anne Hathaway's pink Prada disaster explained: why didn't she wear Valentino' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When Anne Hathaway?s Nips of Doom stepped onto the Oscar red carpet, everyone was shocked to see that she was wearing a pale Pink Prada (with sketchy darting). Annie was supposed to be wearing Valentino. Everybody said she would be wearing Valentino. Valentino?s people had already sent out the press releases. So a million fashion conspiracies were born! Did Anne and Valentino have a falling out? Did the original dress rip? Did Anne just want the night to be about her Nips of Doom? Well, the answer has come ? E! News says that Anne decided at the last minute to change out of the Valentino because she was worried Amanda Seyfried?s McQueen gown was too similar!
When it comes to selecting the Oscar gown, it’s no surprise that quite a bit of careful analysis goes into the strategic style selection. After all, an Oscar dress on a nominee, let alone a winner, will forever be remembered in history.
So upon seeing Anne Hathaway in a blush-pink Prada design on last night’s red carpet, we couldn’t help but wonder what happened to her trademark Valentino couture loyalty. After all, the star has consistently worn the designer on countless red carpets, and even had Mr. Valentino design her wedding dress months ago.
More peculiarly, Valentino even sent out a confirmation press release earlier in the afternoon declaring that the Les Misrables actress would be donning a design from the house, and shortly thereafter Fashion Police’s George Kotsiopoulos predicted on-air during the E! Oscars preshow that she’d wear an ivory embellished gown with a high neckline by the designer.
So what happened?
A source close to the actress confirms to E! News that shortly before Hathaway stepped out on the red carpet she learned that Amanda Seyfried’s Alexander McQueen Oscar gown was strikingly similar to her selected Valentino design, and opted for the Prada dress last minute.
A quick side-by-side comparison shows that both pale gowns were embellished with beautiful delicate floral embroidery?perhaps a little too close for comfort, in the opinion of the Oscar winner.
Hathaway explained to E!’s Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet that she “didn’t know what I was wearing until about three hours ago,” and said her work schedule was to blame. “This is the one that spoke to me in the end.”
[From E! News]
You can see the Valentino design at E! News ? the look was strikingly similar to Amanda?s McQueen. The biggest different was basically that Seyfried?s dress had that little ?cleavage window? and the Valentino didn?t. As I think I said yesterday ? this speaks more to how Sarah Burton is really screwing up the Alexander McQueen label. I seriously doubt that the late Alexander McQueen would have put a lacy, Valentino-looking gown out there? much less on Amanda Seyfried. Here’s Seyfried’s again:
After the Prada disaster, Anne changed into the grey-blue Saint Laurent gown for the parties. She looked way more comfortable and much less cloying. Speaking of ?cloying,? when Anne spoke to reporters after the Oscars, she answered questions about the backlash against her ?cloying? Oscar campaign:
Anne Hathaway is a world-famous movie star — and now an Oscar-winning actress — but that doesn’t mean she’s immune to insecurity. In fact, she may be more vulnerable than anyone. Though the 30-year-old star has been praised in recent months for her spectacular performance in the epic movie musical Les Miserables, she has also been criticized for what some believe is a false, cloying sense of earnestness in her awards show appearances.
Addressing the jokes about her emotional acceptance speeches after winning the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award on Feb. 24, Hathaway admitted to feeling hurt by the backlash. “It does get to me,” she confessed. “But you have to remember in life that there’s a positive to every negative and a negative to every positive. The miracle of the universe is that, as far as they know, there’s 51 percent matter versus 49 percent anti-matter — things tip in the scale of the positive,” she continued. “So that is what I focus on.”
The star — who beat out fellow nominees Sally Field, Jacki Weaver, Helen Hunt, and Amy Adams — then went on to say that she tries not to let other people’s criticism change the way she approaches her own relationships. “I live my life with love,” she explained. “I live my life with compassion. I live my life hoping the best for absolutely everyone, no matter how they feel about me. And when you live that way, it’s amazing how beautiful every day can be.”
[From Us Weekly]
For the love of God, Anne. ?The miracle of the universe is that, as far as they know, there’s 51 percent matter versus 49 percent anti-matter — things tip in the scale of the positive.? STFU!!! I love her and everything, but don?t you want to see her tip her head back and yell, ?Haters gonna hate, suck on my Oscar, bitches?? I don?t know why she thinks that we?ll only accept this cloying, too-sweet version ? show some spunk, show some chutzpah. And for the love of God, stop talking in that gaspy little-girl voice.

| Anne Hathaway in pale pink Prada at the Oscars: pretty or kind of trashy? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

OK, I think I?m ready to talk about Anne Hathaway?s nips now. My caffeine has kicked in and I?m getting into the Oscar coverage groove. OK. Sigh. Here?s the thing: Anne Hathaway was supposed to wear Valentino. Everybody made a really big deal about how Anne was going to wear a special Valentino gown, likely designed personally for her because of her relationship with Valentino and because Mr. Valentino designed her wedding gown last year. And then she showed up in this pale Pink Prada gown, which? I can actually see how this gown would be her ?fallback? gown, something relatively safe if nothing better came along. But I really wonder what happened with the Valentino gown. Was there some kind of design disaster? Did Annie throw some kind of massive hissy fit over a bad gown? Unknown.
But here?s what we got ? a Prada gown which looked super-wrinkled within minutes on the red carpet. A Prada gown which wasn?t the right color for someone so pale. A gown which looked like an apron from the back. A gown with ridiculous darting on the bust, making the viewer?s eye go down to Anne?s bust. I really don?t know if it was the darting, or if Anne was just incredibly cold on the red carpet. Whatever it was, Anne?s Nips are now a thing. They have a twitter account. They were bouncing all over the place. Incidentally, I saw some complaints that she wasn?t wearing a bra or a more structured gown which would have kept her tatas in place ? that doesn?t piss me off as much as the sheer fact that Anne?s nips completely overshadowed her Oscar win.
As for Annie?s win? well, I said what I wanted to say last night. I?m happy that she finally got her Oscar. I hope she goes away for a little bit and we don?t have to deal with her for a few months. I?ll say something nice too: everything above the nips looked great. She had great makeup and I loved her hair and I adored her backwards necklace.

This was the big given of the Oscars, Anne Hathaway?s victory in the Best Supporting Actress category. It was a pipe dream to think that Sally Field or Amy Adams or Jacki Weaver or Helen Hunt would have a chance. That didn?t stop Anne from campaigning like a lunatic for (literally) the last seven months, nor did it stop her constant barrage of gaspy little-girl-voiced acceptance speeches. She became the girl everyone loved to hate. But I still liked her! But even I, a Hathaway apologist, struggled to love her tonight.
First of all, we need to have a word about her nips (which now have a Twitter account). I know, I know. We should be above it. And we?ll definitely talk about more tomorrow with the fashion coverage. But you?d think that coming into the Oscars as a guaranteed winner, Anne would have been careful to avoid being so? exposed? I could draw her breasts from memory at this point. I just think she seemed so? trashy. First the Oscar Beav and now the Oscar Nips.
As for Annie?s speech?well, of course she rehearsed it. You could tell that she had been practicing and timing it. She remembered everybody and she executed a perfectly out-of-breath little girl voice. She gave special thanks to Hugh Jackman (that seemed genuine ? they love each other) and to her husband, who? I mean, let?s not judge a book by its cover, maybe? I didn?t really understand how Anne ended it on a note of, like, ?let?s make the world a place where no woman has to prostitute herself? like that?s some issue that Anne has been actively engaged in? She?s barely mentioned that ?issue? in interviews. But sure. I get it. She wanted to say ?something? bigger than thanking her manager.
So? this is the end of AnnE?s Oscar campaign. Will you miss her? I think I?ll miss her. She was just so extra.

| Anne Hathaway in Gucci at the Costume Designers Guild Awards: cute or fug? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from the 15th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards at the Beverly Hilton last night. The Costume Designers Guild got some good people to come out, but I swear, I think the Hair Guild and the Makeup Artists Guild might have been on strike last night. There were some cute outfits, but the styling was terrible in many cases. Anne Hathaway was one of the big ?gets? at the event ? maybe because she?s literally appeared at EVERY awards show this year ? and she looked cute. Her sparkly dress is Gucci, and she?s giving me hope that she?ll be styled kind of mod/1960s for the Oscars. Her eye makeup is the one thing I hate ? much too heavy.
Amy Poehler and her new breakup bangs (UGH) in Prada. Ever since Gwyneth Paltrow wore that amazing Tom Ford Super-GOOP cape, designers have been doing more capes and caplets. Although I love her, this cape isn?t flattering ? it makes her look slumped and hunchbacked. And the satin just looks? bad.
I didn?t even recognize Cat Deeley now that she?s super-blonde. She looks good but I wish women would stop flat-ironing their hair. It?s such a dated look. Her dress is Monique Lhuillier.
Ginnifer Morrison in Misha Nonoo ? it looks like de la Renta, right? Except this dress fits better than most de la Renta gowns these days. I think this might be my favorite dress of the event.
Joel McHale was the host of the event. This photo is just for CB.
Kristen Wiig in? an unknown designer. I think this is a really cute look for her, I just would have changed her hair. Maybe a chignon.
Lily Collins in Paule Ka. Terrible. Just terrible. The worst look of the night.
