Kicking off the week with some promotional duties, Anne Hathaway headed over to the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan on Monday night (September 21).
Joined by her costar Robert DeNiro, the ?Dark Knight Rises? dame had all eyes on her as she plugged the New York City premiere of her new film ?The Intern,? sporting a sexy black dress.
?The Intern? is slated to hit theaters on September 25th. Per the synopsis, ?70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker has discovered that retirement isn't all it's cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin.?

Here are some photos from last night?s NYC premiere of The Intern, the Nancy Meyers comedy starring Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro. I kind of want to see this. I think the conceit of the film is really interesting ? having the core relationship of the film between a younger career woman and her much older intern, with no romance and just life lessons. It?s surprisingly smart.
DeNiro and Hathaway walked the red carpet separately, then happily posed together, holding hands (at various points, Anne was also holding on to DeNiro?s arm). These photos are sort of a prime example of sexism on the red carpet ? it?s perfectly acceptable for DeNiro to walk the red carpet looking like he?s about to go to a Yankees game, meanwhile Anne probably spent two hours getting read. Anne?s dress here is Rodarte Fall 2015. I?m not a fan. I generally think Rodarte is pretty overworked and gimmicky. That being said, from the neck up, Anne looks fantastic. Beautiful makeup and I love her hair this length.
Guess who else walked the red carpet? This was the red carpet couple-debut of Mariah Carey and James Packer. They did not hold hands. They did not seem affectionate in any way. Packer merely stood close to Mariah while he clasped his hands behind his back and she smiled awkwardly. Their body language is definitely off. Um, do you think Packer has ever seen her naked? I?m really asking.

Anne Hathaway did a ?cover interview? with the online magazine Refinery29. Only they don?t come right out and say ?here is a big interview for our online magazine.? Everything has to be hip and cool for the kidz, so it?s the (Un)Cover, a ?a mullti-platform series that reimagines the traditional magazine cover feature.? Are you rolling your eyes yet? Don?t worry, all it means is that there are GIFs thrown in and the layout is stupid. You can see the feature here. Thankfully, I was able to cull some highlights! Annie?s promoting The Intern, her Nancy Meyers comedy also starring Robert DeNiro:
Her thoughts on the Kardashians: ?I used to be like everyone else and think the Kardashians are just famous for being famous. But I’ve been really impressed with how supportive Kim Kardashian has been of Caitlyn Jenner.?
Relating to her ?Intern? character: ?I don?t always relate to my characters, but Jules I really did. It?s hard to be a person making mistakes in the spotlight, and I

| Anne Hathaway admits at the age of 32, she's losing parts to 24-year-olds | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Anne Hathaway covers the new issue of Glamour. I kind of love this shoot! I usually think Annie does the ?wispy pale color? thing too often, but it works well here. Plus, I love her hair at this length. It feels like we might be getting the old Annie back! Maybe. Probably not. Anyway, in the interview, Anne chats about how she?s seen an old lady at the age of 32, and she?s up for parts against 24-year-olds and the 24-year-olds keep getting the parts. Huh.
She?s losing roles to younger actresses: ?I hate to admit it, but it?s true ? there are fewer roles and the competition is just as fierce as ever. I look around at my peers and I?m so blown away by their talent and their beauty and their cool style, as well as their ability to be an actress and be a movie star and be good at it. I mean, they?re so good and we?re all trying to get the same parts.?
She used to be the younger actress stealing roles from older actresses: ?I can’t complain about it because I benefitted from it. When I was in my early twenties, parts would be written for women in their fifties and I would get them. And now I’m in my early thirties and I’m like, ‘Why did that 24 year old get that part?’ I was that 24 year old once, I can’t be upset about it, it’s the way things are. All I can do right now is think that thankfully you have built up perhaps a little bit of cachet and can tell stories that interest you and if people go to see them you’ll be allowed to make more.?
Her friends Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain: ?I’m trying right now to start a book club with Em and Jessica, because they’re working on a movie together. I said, ‘Let’s all read this book!’ But I’m not working and they are, so it’s not going very well.
On Taylor Swift: ?She just seems to be following her heart. I met her – I hope it’s OK to say this – when she and Jake [Gyllenhaal] were together. She was 20 at the time, and we hung out one night. I was like, ‘You are a magnificent creature.’ She was on fire and I’ve watched her become this force of nature.?
[From Glamour]
Ha, Annie brought some old-school gossip at the end with the Taylor Swift reference! Yes, Taylor and Jake Gyllenhaal dated for a brief three or four months and it was full of apple-picking, cuddlefesting and photo-ops and it was GLORIOUS. I still miss them. I guess Jake introduced Annie to Tay-Tay then. I wonder if Anne was really like ?Oh, she?s magnificent!? or if she was like ?Um, why are you dating someone SO YOUNG, Jake??
As for Anne losing out on parts to younger women? I feel like she?s trying to publicly say that it?s fine, that she?s okay with it and put a bow on it somehow. But it?s got to Sting when you?re only 32 years old and suddenly seen as ?too old? to play certain roles.

Can you believe that we?re still talking about the backlash against Anne Hathaway in late 2012-early 2013? We are. Anne Hathaway went told overboard with her incessant Oscar campaigning and she got what I considered to be some completely justified ?backlash? for it. So Annie went away for a little bit, then she tried to do another campaign last year, this time for The Poor Bullied Anne Hathaway Campaign. That one sort of failed too. And now it?s the second half of 2015 and somehow, improbably, Annie is still talking about this. She covers the September issue of InStyle to promote her Nancy Meyers comedy, The Intern, with Robert DeNiro. Here are some assorted quotes from the cover interview:
The 2013 backlash against her: ?There was a stretch of my life when I wasn’t comfortable being myself. I didn’t think I was good enough. So I pretended to be someone I wasn’t. I’m so over that now. I just try to be my best self all the time, with some notable late-night lapses.?
The Hathahaters: ?For a very long time I felt I was being hunted, and it made me very unhappy.?
She joined Instagram, that?s how comfortable she is now: ?There is something great about being able to say ?I saw this beautiful thing today? and have people who don’t really care about you get excited by it.?
She?s over it: ?In the past few years I’ve been working on changing the script inside my head. Life’s too short to be anyone but yourself. Let the chips fall where they may.?
[From The Daily Mail]
At least she?s toning down the ?pity poor me? rhetoric. Still, are we supposed to believe that Annie is really and truly over it? How can we when she?s still talking about it like this? Here?s what I would love to hear from here: ?I was overzealous and caught up in the moment but at the end of the day, I?m an Oscar winner and one of the best actresses of my generation, so suck it.? Right? That?s the vibe ? explicit or implicit ? that should be coming off of her. Instead, we have to hear about how she felt ?hunted? (eyeroll).
Here?s the latest trailer for The Intern. This seems more like a DeNiro film than a Hathaway film, but I have to say? that have nice, comfortable chemistry with each other.
Some street style photos of Annie from the past few months. She?s totally the girl who wears a unironic fanny pack.

| Anne Hathaway in gold Ralph Lauren at the Met Gala: stunning or basic? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I saw a lot of people hating on Anne Hathaway?s Met Gala look. FOR WHY?! Annie wore this shimmering gold Ralph Lauren gown with a built-in hood. I love that she wore the hood properly too. It elevates what could have been a pretty boring, basic gown.
I was expecting to hate Emma Roberts? Ralph Lauren gown, but I don?t. I think Emma is kind of meh, boring person, but this isn?t bad at all. I like that she went with a bold green.
Here is Kerry Washington in custom Prada. The Pink taffeta reminds me of Gwyneth Paltrow?s iconic Ralph Lauren dress at the Oscars back in the ?90s. Only Kerry?s dress is somehow twice as annoying. I know we?re supposed to be all ?Kerry Washington is a doll, she?s a fashionista!? about everything she wears, but I think this was a fashion fail for her. The bustle is crazy, the Pink is too Pepto and at the end of the day, it?s still a terrible mullet dress.

Emily Blunt also wore Prada, only this one felt more Chinese-themed. It?s still not great though. It?s poorly fit (which is standard on Prada gowns), the bust is terrible (also standard) and the cape seems like a curtain rather than a showpiece.

Here are some photos of Anne Hathaway in New York from the past five days or so. She and her husband Adam ?Skinny Jeans? Shulman have been in New York for a few weeks as Anne was rehearsing and then starting her one-woman show Grounded, showing at The Public Theater through May. You can read the review of the show here ? Annie?s playing a drone pilot dealing with PTSD and her performance is getting solid-to-great reviews.
So that answered my questions as to why we?ve been getting so many photos of Adam and Annie lately. They?ve been all over the place, getting pap?d nearly every day in NYC. This hasn?t really happened since Annie went overboard with her Oscar campaign and got WAY too in our faces with photo-ops, interviews, etc. I think she learned a lot from that moment, and she?s veered too far to the other side, where she?s barely speaking to the press at this point. Has she even done any press on behalf of this show?
Here?s something I didn?t know before today ? Annie?s on Instagram. She uses it sparingly and mostly for work, charity and maybe to push her jewelry-designing-husband?s wares. But she did post this endorsement of Hillary Clinton a few weeks ago. Annie?s a big Democratic Party supporter, and she?s given and raised money for Pres. Obama?s campaigns in the past. I guess she?s backing Hillary this time around.
I was just thinking this morning that it's going to be especially important to vote in the 2016 election: whoever we elect will likely name three Supreme Court Justices during their term. THREE. It's a huge responsibility- I like the idea of Hillary making those calls #hillary #supremecourt #weholdthesetruthstobeselfevident

Here are some photos of Anne Hathaway going into Jimmy Kimmel?s studio a few days ago. She appeared on his show on Monday night. I couldn?t even force myself to watch the video, so go here if you want to see. Apparently, she told a long-winded story about gagging over some ?chardonnog.? Blah. Annie?s making the rounds because she?s promoting Song One, a film she stars in and produced. She actually coproduced it with her jewelry-designing husband Adam Shulman. In addition to doing Kimmel, she also gave an interesting interview to the New York Times. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
On coproducing with Adam: ?We felt pretty good at the end of it. It was humbling, because I thought I knew a lot more about making movies than I did.?
Advice for Neil Patrick Harris for hosting the Oscars: ?Do the opposite of what I did, and you?ll be fine.?
When asked what went wrong when she co-hosted the Oscars: ?I think it?s so obvious that it doesn?t even need to be identified. He?ll be great. He?s a natural host.?
The end product of all of the Hathahate after she won her Oscar: ?Self-acceptance. If you?re not someone who has a natural and effortless love for yourself, it?s hard to let go of your desire to please other people, and that?s really not an ingredient for a happy life.?
What was behind all the vitriol? ?Oh, I think you can?t answer that and be a self-respecting person.?
If her email was hacked, what would it say about her? ?That I?m a very private person. I don?t reveal much in email. I?ve just had to be aware, for a very long time, that it is not an airtight form of communication.?
Is she surprised about the lack of email security? ?No. I think it?s good that we don?t sit around expecting the worst to happen.?
Her New Year?s resolutions: ?I have one, but I don?t want to mention it because it?s scaring me. And it has nothing to do with pregnancy. But it?s not because of a problem. It?s just because why not: I?m going to really prioritize my health this year and not drink, at least not in January. I want to take a month off.
Whether she?s still a smoker: ?I?ve quit. I got hooked for a few years. I had a four-year break, and then actually when I was producing ?Song One,? I started smoking again. It?s easy to romanticize it when you haven?t done it in a while, but it?s actually pretty disgusting.
Her thoughts on vaping: ?I don?t judge the vape. I know some people who used to be three-pack-a-day smokers, and I?d much prefer them having the vape. I don?t want to give them any excuse not to vape.?
[From The New York Times]
If you have the time, I?d suggest going to the read the full NYT piece, and if you do, come back here and tell me if you think Annie came across as somewhat chilly. Maybe something was lost in transcribing the quotes, but it seemed like Annie went cold a few times, like she was aiming for self-deprecating about hosting the Oscars but then it just turned dark and uncomfortable when the NYT interviewer wasn?t like, ?Oh no, you were fine!? Or ?People really didn?t hate you that much, it was all in your head!? To be fair to old-school Annie, I never blamed her for the Oscar hosting debacle. James Franco got high and forgot to prepare and Annie tried to be a professional and save the night. As for the smoking stuff? I don?t judge the vape either. It bugs me when people complain about the vape.
PS? Her hair is looking particularly cute these days.

| Anne Hathaway on a solo Catwoman film: 'I would be totally up for doing it' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey promoting Interstellar in Shanghai today. I guess Jessica Chastain wasn?t invited? Which is weird, because Jessica is contractually obligated to ONLY promote Interstellar for the next six weeks. Anyway, I?m not crazy about Annie?s photocall or premiere looks here. My opinion ? and I hope this won?t become more fodder for The Poor Bullied Annie Hathaway Campaign ? is that Annie?s style has taken a major hit since she stopped working with Rachel Zoe. It?s too bad. Theirs was a prosperous union.
Anyway, did you know that Anne sort of wants to do a stand-alone Catwoman film with Christopher Nolan? Sigh?
IGN recently spoke to Anne Hathaway at the Interstellar junket, and with female-led superhero movies Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel now in the works, we asked the actress if the time is right to get a standalone Catwoman flick off the ground.
?I would be totally up for doing it? she explained ?If Chris [Nolan] was involved. For me, the thing that made doing that part particularly fun was that she existed in his Gotham. Without him I don?t think it would be the same thing. But I also wonder about that part. If because she?s a thief, it?s not better to have her be a small part in a larger film. So she can go through and steal aspects of the film. But when the focus is squarely on her, I don?t know if it works as well.?
We then asked Hathaway if she?d be keen on bringing the character back to cameo in one of DC?s many other forthcoming films?
?Oh yeah that?d be fun. I?d definitely love that. I want to play her again. I don?t know ? this is just speculation, because I do think about it sometimes ? I think she?s got an amazing backstory and it would be great to see her get her own film. But I don?t know ? she is someone who? mystery serves her well so I don?t know what a whole film would do. But who knows??
[From IGN]
I might have to turn in my Feminism Says We Need More Lead Roles For Women card, because I sort of agree with her. I think Catwoman works when she?s playing off of strong men, antiheroes or villains, what have you. She?s more interesting in combination with other people/stories. I?m not sure many people would really care about another stand-alone Catwoman movie, especially after Halle Berry sort of ruined that concept. Plus, I get the feeling that some people are still mad that Annie was ever cast as Catwoman. I always liked that choice though, and I honestly thought she was the best part of The Dark Knight Rises.
PS? I love all of the body language analysis on Anne and Matthew during this promotional tour. I agree, he can?t stand her.
