Last year, we read all those splashy reports that New York-based celeb couple Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were in trouble. There were reports that Matthew was cheating; reports that Matthew refused to go to couples’ counseling; reports that Sarah Jessica was lonely and ignored, and was only staying in the relationship because of their son, James. The couple combatted those reports by being seen in public all over the place - at film and play openings, walking together near their home, holding hands and kissing. But the rumor mill is at it again. This latest buzz is that the divorce is already in progress, and their lawyers and PR reps are keeping quiet about it until it’s finished.
The sad news has been confirmed through a reliable West Village, New York source.
Sex and the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker, and her husband of nearly 12 years, Matthew Broderick are in the process of getting a divorce.
The couple, who were married in May 1997, have one child, James, 6.
I love these two together and am totally bummed about the break-up! They were both cool geeks in the 80s. Broderick with Ferris Bueller and Parker in Square Pegs. They just seemed like a natural fit.
Both have denied a divorce is in the works, and it seems their people are doing a good job of keeping quiet about it. But you heard it here, first. They?re officially dunzo.

I guess there’s only one way to know for sure if this one is true: wait for the impending announcement. This seems all too familiar - the end of Guy Ritchie and Madonna’s marriage played out this same way: months of denial, a unified front for the press, then, finally an official announcement followed by a lightning-speed divorce settlement. I hope it’s not true for Sarah Jessica and Matthew. I may be in the minority, but I’m rooting for them to make it.

Sarah Jessica Parker has some regrets about her marriage to Matthew Broderick. And no, it?s not what you think. Her regret is specific to her wedding dress. Sarah Jessica famously wore black to her wedding twelve years ago, and it?s a fashion decision that has haunted her for years.
I saw SJP talk about this several years ago, and from what I remember of the story, Broderick told her she shouldn?t wear white because it would be inappropriate. Something about how they were already living together and sleeping together, I guess. But instead of going with some kind of off-white dress, SJP went with black. The Times of India has more:
The ?Sex and the City?actress Sarah Jessica Parker regrets wearing a black wedding gown for her marriage to actor husband Matthew Broderick and is still embarrassed by the fashion faux pas she made 12-years ago.
Parker, who is famous for her impeccable fashion choices, broke the tradition of wearing white for her wedding in 1997. But looking back, she’s upset with her daring decision.
“(I would) white it up. I’d wear a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn on that day,” the star said in an interview.
The 43-year-old actress is also making sure that the couple’s six-year-old son, James Wilkie understands that a black wedding dress is not appropriate attire.
Parker adds, “James Wilkie’s teacher is getting married, and he said, ‘Do you think she will be wearing black?’ I said, ‘No! I can almost assure you.’ Then he said, ‘Do you still regret it?’ and I said, ‘Yes, I still regret it.’”
The star recently said that the sequel to last year’s film adaptation of the popular television series looks very promising however she admitted that she was clueless about the plot the film.

Perhaps if she feels so strongly about it though, she and Matthew should renew their vows just so SJP can wear white.
There has been a steady drum of negative gossip about the state of the Broderick-Parker marriage, including several people noting that at their recent Oscar outing, Broderick looked like he wished he was anywhere else than beside his wife. Still, SJP has consistently denied there is anything wrong. Perhaps a white-clad vow-renewal will help!

Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays a character famous for her fashion excesses, is known for her frugality. She dresses her 6-year-old son in hand me down clothing, she designed a clothing range all priced at $20 or less. According to tabloids reports, she now scared of divorcing her husband of 11 years ? because of how much it will cost her.
Sarah Jessica Parker - whose 11-year marriage to actor Matthew Broderick is reportedly on the rocks following allegations he cheated on her with a 25-year-old beauty - is giving her relationship another go because she doesn’t want to lose the multi-million pound fortune she has accumulated.
A source told Look magazine: “Sarah’s family were poor when she was a child.
“She had seven brothers and sisters and she’s often talked about missing out on birthday presents when she was young.
“It seems she’s freaking out over the thought that Matthew could walk away with an enormous sum of money.”
It was recently reported the couple - who have a six-year-old son James Wilkie together - are leading separate lives.
They put a united front on over the festive period for the sake of James, but their Christmas truce is said to have caused further cracks in their relationship.
Another source added: “They spent the holidays pretending to be happy for James.”

If Parker divorces Matthew Broderick now, with the Sex and the City sequel suggested to be earning her $50million, she’s not going to be short of cash. It’s possible that she’s still afraid of surrendering a large portion of her fortune in a divorce, or that this story is made up.
SJP confessed in a recent interview that given the financial situation the world is in, she isn?t going shopping.
What would happen to Carrie Bradshaw if the recession kept her from purchasing those famous $600 Manolo Blahniks?
“She would probably end up in a hospital,” jokes Sarah Jessica Parker in the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar, which hits stands Feb. 17.
“Perhaps she would go back to her ’80s stuff and start bringing it back out,” she adds.
Parker herself finds the downturn “very scary.
“I can’t imagine going shopping,” she continues.
She doesn’t hit the stores as often as Bradshaw, though.
“Friends are readily disappointed by the size of my closet. And I thought it was big!” she says.
Parker explains that she doesn’t have the “Carrie Bradshaw passion and devotion” to fashion, “but I would much prefer that life would allow for a beautiful shoe all day long.”

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick attended a play last night, and they wanted to make sure everyone got the message. The message: we?re fine, our marriage is fine, so stop asking. They held hands and cuddled for the photographers? lenses, and SJP even talked to People magazine about their ?date night? and about the rumored Sex and the City sequel. Parker says that she?s heard the rumors, but basically SATC fans shouldn?t believe everything they read.
Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick know how to mix business and love.
On Thursday night, they turned a visit to Broadway into a romantic evening ? complete with hand holding and downplaying rumors that their marriage is in trouble.
After watching The American Plan, a play starring Mercedes Ruehl and Lily Rabe, Parker told PEOPLE, “This is date night. It was really lovely.”
Parker, looking divine in a polka dot dress, white coat and spiky black heels, also gracefully addressed recent reports that she and Broderick were close to splitting. “We don’t even bother to address them,” Parker told reporters, adding that the best part of being married is “being married.”
Defending their relationship wasn’t the only thing on their minds, however.
The couple attended the play to support the director David Grindley, who will begin rehearsals for The Philanthropist, another Broadway play, with Broderick in six weeks.
As for the news that a sequel to Parker’s hit movie Sex and the City is a done deal, Parker coyly told PEOPLE, “that’s what I’ve heard but I wouldn’t say that is the most official thing you’ll ever read.”

Their marriage is none of my business and I feel dirty even thinking about all of the nasty rumors about Broderick and the state of their affairs. I can totally see why they did this photo-op, but I don?t think it will stop the rumors. If the SATC movie sequel does go through, that means even more publicity and even more rumors. Could it be that they?re just a simple New York couple with a fondness for theatre? More than likely.

Good news for fans of haggard old women who F their way through New York. You’re getting a sequel!
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are all coming back for another installment of Sex and the City. And they’re getting raises. Big ones.
Regarding the sequel, Parker is hoping for a story “worthy of an audience.” Nixon wants the exact opposite and suggests the crew go on a “mad cap adventure.” Probably in Brazil or Mexico or any other country where it’s plausible to stumble into the middle of an ongoing orgy or something equally provocative.
Whatever they decide to do, just, please, stay away from the hi-def cameras and consider axing the Blu-Ray release. 1080p is not your friend. Maybe try filming in YouTube quality?
