You may have already heard that pregnant Mariah Carey went to the hospital on Sunday after suffering contractions. Mariah is pregnant with twins, and from what I can tell she’s due soon so it might not have been that dangerous to the babies if she had them at this point. Mariah was sent home, though, which is good news, and she celebrated by having her belly painted (with a blue and red butterfly, natch) and tweeting the photo above. On Mariah’s belly over the butterfly was written “Dem Babies.” It turns out that Mariah went to the hospital right before her third wedding anniversary with Nick. (Wikipedia has their anniversary as 3/30, but she’s tweeting anniversary wishes already so it could be earlier than that. Update: It was her 41st birthday - thanks BiteMe for pointing that out!)
Mariah Carey, who in October announced that she is pregnant, was hospitalized on Friday night with contractions.
“So #dembabies really wanted 2 celebrate w/us/share the anniversary! I started having contractions last night..went 2 the hospital-” Carey tweeted on Saturday. “Finally they said I could come home after they got it under control but.. They almost came on 3/27- happy anniversary in deed!!! We have a few more weeks 2 go but- wow!!!: ) #soreadyallready!”
The singer… tweeted a photo of a butterfly painted on her belly on Monday. Along with the photo, she wrote, “My attempt @ festiveness on 327! For ATLITL thank u + I?U! Comin soon #dembabies! LYMA+thanx 4 making me happy:).”
Carey announced in October that she is pregnant; she’ll be having twins, one boy and one girl.

Those babies can’t come out on Mariah and Nick’s anniversary Mariah’s birthday! Don’t they know that date is sacred and that their birthday will cut into Mariah’s Disney and Hello-Kitty themed parties?
Mariah has since deleted that tweet and photo from what I can figure out, so I guess she’s kind of embarrassed by it and regretted putting it out there. Either that or Nick told her to take it down because it was too personal.
I know Mariah is excessive as all get out, but that’s part of the reason I really want to see a photo spread of her with the twins. She’s sure to have one of the most elaborate and expensive nurseries that was ever made. Mariah’s twin baby photos will put J.Lo’s poser couture spread with the twins to shame.

Mariah Carey is pregnant with twins, one boy and one girl. Naturally, she painted a double sexed butterfly on her belly to show which side was which and posted it on Twitter.
Sweet jesus. She’s huge. If she ever fell down and landed on her back, there’s no way she’s getting back up without help. That thing is almost as big as Christina Ricci’s forehead.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon had a baby shower for the soon-to-be-born girl and boy twins this weekend in Beverly Hills. Like everything these two do, it was excessive to say the least. Their shower registry included $10,000 crib sheets, a $350 car seat cover and a $1,200 stuffed giraffe, of which they received two.
The Conservatory Grill at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills was transformed into a blue-and-pink wonderland Sunday, as Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated the upcoming arrival of their twins with an elegant baby shower.
The parents-to-be arrived at 7 p.m., with Cannon, 30, behind the wheel of a black Rolls-Royce that he gave Carey, 41, as a Christmas gift. They were joined by friends including American Idol judge Randy Jackson.
The adults-only shower had a warm and romantic atmosphere with small cocktail tables that were decorated with Pink roses and blue hydrangeas. (They are expecting a boy and a girl.) Pink and blue balloons also dotted the private event.
“Mariah has been anxiously awaiting her shower, and she was very excited when she arrived at the hotel,” says a source. “She couldn’t wait to celebrate her baby twins with her friends.”
Carey and Cannon received many pink-and-blue-wrapped presents and several lavish gifts, including two almost life-size stuffed giraffes and two chairs hand-made for the twins.
Guests nibbled on gourmet appetizers and sipped Angel champagne.
“Mariah had the best time at her shower,” says the source. “She was very touched by how nicely everything turned out and excited about all the generous gifts she received. She has been feeling a bit tired and worn out lately, but the shower was an event that she really enjoyed and that made her very happy. Now she can’t wait to meet her baby twins!”

When Lainey ran this story, she basically said it was gross and included this link for helping Libyan refugees. This is what some celebrities do, though, they have huge parties for major events in their lives and they request presents that are fit for the outrageous lifestyles they live. What makes Mariah’s excessive baby shower any worse than any other day in her life, or in the life of any other celebrity or rich person throwing money around like it’s nothing? There are plenty of places in the world where the way we live as “average” Americas would seem ridiculously foolish and luxurious.
In lighter news, Nick has said that he and Mariah have some potential names picked out for the babies but that they “don’t know until you actually see them in person. Maybe we’ll come up with something new. We’ll know on the day they are born.” He previously joked that all their future children would be named Mariah “no matter if they’re boys or girls,” like George Foreman’s kids. It’s better than “Butterscotch Bomb Pop Cannon,” and “Sparklekiss Minnie Marshmallow Cannon.” (I stole that bit from Kaiser. She should invent a Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon twin name generator website. You know whatever they come up with is going to be more inventive than we could anticipate though.)

Life & Style is ?confirming? the gender(s) of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon?s twins. Only it?s not a ?confirmation? from either Mariah or Nick, it?s just some random gossip from ?a friend of the couple?. Still, I want to believe this, just because a boy and girl would mean that we still get to have fun, Mariah-style, with naming the girl. A name using some kind of variation of Princess Pinky Sparkles Glitter Kitten Sugar. Something like that. And now we get to dream of boy names too! Nick will probably put his foot down when naming the boy, though. I bet the boy gets a somewhat normal name. Like D?Hermes Nicholas Sandcastle.

Yeah, Mariah doesn?t explicitly say it?s a boy and girl, but it?s a solid guess. Meanwhile, Nick spoke to People Magazine about Mariah and food (of course!):
Eating for three would make any appetite skyrocket. With twins on the way, songbird Mariah Carey has been whipping up some delicious home-cooked meals every night, says husband Nick Cannon. Only it?s the father-to-be who?s packing on the pounds.
?Last night we had smothered pork chops, collard greens, red beans and rice and a pecan pie with homemade whipped cream,? says Cannon, 30. ?She cooks it, tastes it, but instead of laying up and eating it, I end up eating it. I think she craves it, but once she cooks it and smells it then the cravings go away.?
One thing she is eating? Kellogg?s Crunchy Nut cereal. ?We have a lot of it!? says Cannon, who helped launch the new breakfast food in L.A. on Saturday.
Something else Carey, 40, has plenty of these days? Time to relax at home. With a routine consisting of swimming a few times a day and ?decorating and designing? their twins? nurseries ? ?We?re building nurseries in both L.A. and New York? ? the comedian, who will shoot his first live stand-up special at the Palms, Las Vegas on March 5, says Carey is ?extremely healthy and getting her Martha Stewart on.?
They?ve even narrowed down names for their twins. ?They won?t be crazy names like Carburetor or something,? he says. ?But they?re definitely unique.?

Oh, they already have names picked out! My guess is that the names will have something to do with food, don?t you? Rasberry Marshmellow Sugar Cannon and Blueberry Cornflake Cannon.
Also - I?ll buy that Nick is putting on ?sympathy pregnancy weight? too, but I don?t buy that Mariah isn?t having fun with all she can eat now.
UPDATE: Life & Style’s rep just sent me an email pointing out that this is a hard confirmation - Mariah is DEFINITELY confirming that she’s having a boy and a girl!!! I’m so happy for her, I really am.

Keeping a close eye on her pregnancy health, Mariah Carey was spotted visiting her doctor in Los Angeles yesterday (January 6).
The ?Always Be My Baby? singer showed off her baby bump in a sheer top with stretch pants and flip flops as she made her exit.
And it sounds like Mariah has the perfect swanky ride in which to drive her twins once they?re born- a brand new Rolls Royce Phantom.
Carey got the wheels from her hubby Nick Cannon for Christmas, and the $400,000 car reportedly had Mariah speechless.

Finally, after a seemingly endless string of star splits, some joyful celebrity news!
“I didn’t even tell my wife I was gonna do this,” Nick Cannon — aka Mr. Mariah Carey declared on his radio show. “I’m probably gonna get yelled at for not getting permission. … We are having twins!”
Yep, mom-to-be Mimi is expecting not one, but two babies. “Everything is A-OK!” Nick crowed. “Both babies are healthy and in tip-top shape. The doctors are happy.”

Nick Cannon announced on his 92.3 Now radio show this morning that he and wife Mariah Carey are expecting more than one baby in the spring. Repeat, Nick announced it. Without Mariah’s express written consent. There’s throwing caution to the wind, and then there’s giving the wind the finger and farting in its general direction. Us Magazine says:
“I didn’t even tell my wife I was gonna do this,” he admitted. “I’m probably gonna get yelled at for not getting permission… we are having twins!”
[Cannon revealed that] the very first folks in the world to know about the twins were President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama! After recently performing for the First Family for a White House Christmas special, Carey met with the Obamas backstage, Cannon said.
She hadn’t told anybody anything! Because of the excitement and emotion, she shared [the news] with the President and the First Lady.”
There aren’t enough diamond-studded Hello Kitty accessories in the world for Nick to make up for stealing Mariah’s twin thunder like that. And for the record, this marks the first time I’ve used the words “twin thunder” in a Mariah Carey post without referencing her thighs.

The entertainment world was abuzz with excitement after Mariah Carey announced her pregnancy, and now her hubby Nick Cannon has revealed that they?re having twins.
During his radio show, Cannon confirmed that they?ll be parents to not one, but two beautiful babies in the months ahead.
Nick explained, "In order for my wife and I to have our life, we need to be up front and I need to be able to share things with you and be real. I didn't even tell my wife I was gonna do this. I'm probably gonna get yelled at for not getting permission...We are having twins!"
And apparently President and Mrs. Obama were among the first to know, as Mariah told them while hanging out at the First Family White House Christmas Special. "They actually even questioned my wife about [the twins]. She hadn't told anybody anything! Because of the excitement and emotion, she shared [the news] with the President and the First Lady."
