Despite reports that Madonna?s acrimonious divorce had permanently ruined any chance she had at adopting Malawian orphan Mercy James, the New York Daily News still claims she?s on her way to Malawi to bring the now four-year-old girl home ? and she?s bringing boy toy/soul mate Alex Rodriguez with her.
A bitter divorce battle won’t stop Madonna from moving forward with plans to adopt another child. The “Material Mom” has reportedly signed paperwork to adopt a 4-year-old girl from Malawi - the home country of her adopted son David.
“She’s hoping to bring the toddler home by early next year,” a source told Star Magazine.
Madonna,50, will reportedly fly to Malawi with new companion Alex Rodriguez to pick up the girl, Mercy James, whose grandparents are unable to care for her.
“It breaks our hearts to know she will leave us, but adoption is best for her,” the girl’s grandfather said. Malawi had not permitted foreign adoptions until Madonna adopted David.
[From the Daily News]
Malawi?s own adoption officials said that they wouldn’t let Mercy go to a broken home, and Mercy?s family has long opposed her adoption by Madonna. Considering the Daily News? source is Star ? a tab well-known to make things up ? I doubt this is true. If it does end up happening, I think it?ll be pretty clear that Madonna bought herself another kid.
Speaking of her family issues, Madge and A-Rod are going to England for Christmas. Madonna will spend the day with her kids and ex-husband Guy Ritchie ? but he?s refused to let her spend the night. Not surprisingly, he can only take so much of Madonna.
Madonna?S hopes for peace at Christmas have been shattered ? after GUY RITCHIE banned her from staying at his house. Madge, 50, hoped they could put aside their differences for one day, to have a family celebration at the country mansion they used to share. They had agreed to put on a united front and make the day as normal as possible for children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David, three.
But Guy, 40, has told his ex wife he doesn?t want her sleeping over at Ashcombe House in Wiltshire ? and the plans are now up in the air. A source close to the couple said: ?Guy is desperate to see the children on Christmas Day and was OK with them all spending the day at Ashcombe. He was even willing to have Madonna there and try to be civilised for the sake of the children. But having her stay over was just too much. He couldn’t bear the thought of her padding round the kitchen next morning like old times ? there are too many sad memories.?
Madonna does not like the house, but was willing to spend Christmas there for the children?s sake. The source said: ?It?s not as if she can stay in the B&B up the road. There’s nowhere suitable nearby. They?re trying to come to some sort of solution but they just can’t agree on anything ? and it’s getting very late to organise. If one of them doesn’t back down, it could be a very unhappy Christmas. It seems they were a bit over optimistic to think they could call a truce.”
[From The Sun]
Guy even offered to fly to New York for Christmas so that he could stay in a hotel and avoid spending the night under the same roof as Madonna. But she refused, since they?ve been planning on going to England. A-Rod is going there with her, but he will remain at a London hotel while Madge goes to the English countryside for the day.
It sounds like it would be a great time for Madonna to actually learn the meaning of compromise. Guy offering to fly to New York for Christmas was very generous, and it makes all the sense in the world that he doesn?t want to sleep with his ex-wife under the same roof. It seems like this is the perfect time for Madonna to lower herself to sleeping in that unsuitable little bed & breakfast up the road.

Madonna must be really pissed. On Monday, her rep, Liz Rosenberg, issued a statement to the Associated Press that Madge and Guy Ritchie reached a financial settlement in the range of $76 million to $92 million. But now Madonna and Guy have issued a statement saying that?s “misleading and inaccurate.”
The statement reads:
“We have tried to maintain a dignified silence regarding the details of our divorce for the last few months whilst accepting the obvious media interest.
“A misleading and inaccurate statement, specifically in relation to the sums of money involved, was wrongly issued to AP this week.
“The financial details of the settlement will remain private, save to say that both of us are happy with our agreement.
“Our primary concern, like any co-parents, is the care and well being of our children.”
[From People]
It seems to me that Madge and Guy just don?t like that the information got out there. The $76 million to $92 million amount Liz Rosenberg named is so broad that they could technically call it inaccurate. Rosenberg has been Madonna?s rep for a long time and is generally a pretty quiet one. Most of her responses are variations of ?no comment,? and ?untrue.? I was truly surprised she ever announced anything. So I?m disinclined to believe she put out a statement that?s a lie.
I?m guessing it?s more likely that there was some miscommunication or Madonna and Guy changed their minds and didn?t want the information out there. They couldn?t tell the press, ?Never mind, we wish we hadn?t said anything so pretend you don?t know.? All they could do is say it?s ?inaccurate.? But I love the line about being good parents. It has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the statement. Excellent diversion.
Here?s Madonna along with Lourdes and Rocco in their Rio de Janeiro hotel on Saturday. According to Bauer-Griffin, ?Upon arrival Madonna mandates a lockdown of the hotel with maximum security to not allow any new guest to enter the premises.? What a kind and thoughtful lady. On Monday, in a statement released to the AP, Madonna spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg claimed Guy Ritchie made off with $76-$92 million in their divorce settlement despite earlier claims that he didn’t want Madonna’s money. Now, possibly at the behest of Guy because he didn’t want to be made to look like a shifty dickwad, the ex-couple released a joint statement refuting the previous one.
“We have tried to maintain a dignified silence regarding the details of our divorce for the last few months whilst accepting the obvious media interest,” said a joint statement from the pair.
“A misleading and inaccurate statement, specifically in relation to the sums of money involved, was wrongly issued to AP this week,” it added.
“The financial details of the settlement will remain private, save to say that both of us are happy with our agreement. Our primary concern, like any co-parents, is the care and well being of our children.” Rosenberg said on Monday that custody arrangements for the couple’s children had not been finalized.
Madonna is pretty conniving. The one thing she didn’t count on, however, is that she’s a decaying old hag who’s so far removed from reality that she actually thinks she’s sexy and clever. Hence, no one is going to let her steamroll them. If she was hot with big tits, maybe, but she’s not. Foreplay with Madonna is like molesting an oak tree.

Taking back what was widely reported earlier this week, it is now being claimed that Madonna is not paying out $76 million to ex Guy Ritchie in a divorce settlement.
Rescinding a statement made on Monday by Madge’s rep, Liz Rosenberg, the two have now released a brand new proclamation claiming that the financial details were inaccurate and that they will be keeping that information private.

There have been all sorts of rumors floating around about the kind of settlement Guy Rithie would get from Madonna. At several points it sounded like he was walking away with hardly a thing ? probably just glad to get away from Madge. But in the end he scored a decent settlement of $76 million to $90 million. That?s including the value of one of their homes that Guy will get to keep, along with their pub.
Madonna has settled her divorce with ex-husband Guy Ritchie by also parting with at least 50 million pounds ($76 million), the singer’s spokeswoman said Monday. Liz Rosenberg told The Associated Press the settlement was in the range of 50 million to 60 million pounds ($76 million to $92 million) as part of their divorce agreement, a figure she said included the value of the couple’s country home, Ashcombe House in western England, which Ritchie will keep.
Rosenberg said the couple’s west London pub ? the Punchbowl ? would also remain with Ritchie. A representative for the British filmmaker declined comment. The couple were reportedly worth some $525 million, the vast majority of which belonged to Madonna. Ritchie had an estimated $35 million fortune.
“I’d assume it’s one of the largest payouts ever in a divorce settlement,” Rosenberg said. U.K.-based entertainment lawyer Ambi Sitham said it made sense for Madonna to divest herself of her British property. “She’s got no interest in remaining here,” Sitham said. “She’s relocating and moving back to New York. It’s money she’s already paid out ? what is she going to do, try to sell the houses in a flagging market?”
Rosenberg said that while the financial component of the settlement had been worked out, custodial arrangements for the couple’s children have yet to be finalized.
[From the Associated Press]
I was trying to figure out if $76 million would be worth it for me. It’s an unfathomable amount of money for most of us, and I’d bet the majority of people would be able to deal with a lot of crap for that. But something tells me most of us would also willingly pay $76 million not to be around Madonna after about a month.
Unfortunately I would bet that a significant amount of legal wrangling is still to be had. I doubt Madonna will be willing to give Guy much of what he wants in terms of their sons. However with the news that they?re spending Christmas together as a family, it seems like Madge has finally learned to put someone else ahead of herself ? in this case, two someones. Hopefully she can do the same for their custody arrangement, so that the boys’ schooling won?t be interrupted and they?ll still have plenty of time with their father.

Marking an end to their marriage, Madonna has paid Guy Ritchie up to $92 million in their divorce settlement. The judge had to pry the check from the Cryptkeeper’s cold, dead hands and then had to tell Guy to stop jumping up and down on the table like a monkey.
The sum mainly consists of Guy and Madonna’s English country estate, Ashcombe, valued at around $30 million. Custody of the children has not been finalized. Rumors are circulating that Madonna is attempting to buy enough time to be able to harvest their souls. Their delicious, youthful souls.

Of all the things I say about Madonna, I hardly ever note what a professional she is. I might mention her quasi-adultery, her control freak nature, or maybe something about the way she?s Kabbalah obsessed. And while the mean part of me sort of enjoyed watching video of Madonna falling on her ass during her Rio de Janeiro, I have to at least give her credit for rolling with it. Sort of literally.
WHOOPS!
Madonna wiped out in the rain during her concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday. She gamely played the show despite a downpour, playing her guitar while under an umbrella at times.
But, when it came to time to work the stage wearing sunglasses, she lost her balance and fell.
She eats it about 40 seconds into the video below.
[From the Huffington Post]
The website Made in Brazil pointed out that Madonna got rid of her usual spiked heel boots and was instead wearing flat, rain-appropriate combat boots. While it was a smart choice, it still didn?t keep her from slipping. She sort of rolls around on the stage and does a few moves with her legs in an attempt to make it look like she meant to do that. There?s no audible gasp from the crowd or anything, so it seems like she worked it pretty well and managed to keep from being totally embarrassed. Enjoy the video, nonetheless.
In other Madge news, Britney Spears? longtime choreographer Wade Robson says that Britney wants her to make some guest appearances on her own upcoming tour.
Britney Spears wants Madonna to guest star on her forthcoming tour.
The singer is in talks with Madge to make a series of appearances, according to Spears’ choreographer Wade Robson.
‘There’s been talk of Madonna making an appearance, and there’s so many places we could take that,’ he said.
‘At this point, the main issue is timing,’ he added. The North American leg of Spears’ Circus tour is due to start in New Orleans in March and she has also added six more nights to her June residency at the O2 Arena in London.
[From Metro]
They?d certainly get a lot of press for doing that. Britney recorded a video that?s shown during Madonna?s concerts and sang live with her in L.A., so it seems likely Madge would be willing to return the favor in some form. The two know how to work the media to their joint advantage, and they?re each very talented performers. Hopefully they can both manage to stay upright. No guarantees though.

Madonna may be noticing that her purse is hanging a little lighter these days, as she’ll reportedly pay her soon-to-be-ex-husband Guy Ritchie at least $76 million in their divorce settlement.
Liz Rosenberg, Madge’s rep, told press that her client has given up anywhere between $76 million and $92 million, depending on the value of the couple’s country home in Ashcombe.

It seems that for the first time during her divorce, maybe for the first time ever Madonna?s life, she is able to compromise and reach an amicable agreement with someone. Given that the agreement has been made with her ex-husband, that?s nothing short of a Christmas miracle!
Despite previous reports in the Daily Mail that the couple don?t speak at all, which is said to be causing problems as they have a flexible custody agreement, it seems that Madonna and Guy Ritchie are going to spend Christmas together.
The plan is for them to be together on Christmas Day at Ashcombe House. Madonna arrives in England on December 23 and is planning to stay for Christmas.?
Ritchie, who is working on his new movie Sherlock Holmes, spends most of the week in his new London home. ?Guy is happiest with his kids and in the countryside,? a friend said last night.
?Because of what the kids have been through this year he wants to treat them to a really special Christmas with stockings of presents and a big tree.
?He is planning on having a traditional turkey dinner ? although all the food will be organic at Madonna?s insistence.
?Madonna doesn?t really like Ashcombe but she thinks it?s important that they put on a united front for the kids. She will, however, be eating a different meal as she will only eat fish. She will also be working out on Christmas Day.?
Last year Madonna permitted the family to eat only steamed fish and vegetables which she is allowed as part of her macrobiotic diet.
She also usually prohibits the children from watching TV, although an exception is made at Christmas and games after dinner are encouraged.
The source added: ?Guy can?t wait,. He?s so looking forward to having some quality time with his son and he will spoil him rotten. Not with expensive gifts but little treats like letting Rocco watch some TV and eat a few sweets.?
Daily Mail
I think Madonna gave in to common sense in the end ? she won?t be spending Christmas with her estranged family, particularly following the book her brother published about her, and London is a beautiful city during the holidays.
It seems doubtful that the family will eat together. Madonna and Guy may reside in the same house, but you assume they’ll share the day with their children and avoid each other. Fortunately large country estates have more room for doing that than the standard suburban home. Although some divorced parents do spend family occasions together, I don?t think Madonna and Guy are on those kinds of terms yet.

It would truly suck to be the children of Guy Ritchie and Madonna this Christmas. While the arguing parents are apparently trying to outspend the other with over the top gifts for Rocco and David, even children that young know when they’re being used as pawns by and against the parents they love. Despite earlier reports that the boys would be spending Christmas with Guy and Madonna was invited to join them, or maybe because of it, Madonna has decided that an English Christmas wasn’t necessarily a done deal and the recently divorced parents are having their “people” fight it out.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie are at war over who will have their sons for Christmas.
The pair are arguing over whether Rocco, eight, and their adopted son David, two, should be with their mother in New York, or their father at his Wiltshire estate.
Film director Ritchie would like a traditional family Christmas with relatives at his Ashcombe House estate, a roast turkey and presents round the tree.
By contrast, a day at the 50-year-old singer?s home would involve four hours of her Kabbalah religion, with steamed fish and macrobiotic vegetables for lunch.
Both parents are said to be showering the children with more elaborate gifts despite pledges that they would not spoil them on their first Christmas apart.
A source close to the couple said: ?Both Madonna and Guy want David and Rocco on Christmas Day.
?Under the terms of the divorce, it is actually up to Guy and Madonna to sort out the access. It?s not set in stone who has the boys on which days. The arrangement is that Guy has the boys for a set number of days in the year. It?s a 50/50 agreement but there is a provision that their main residence should be New York.
?The agreement is that Guy gets them four or five days a month in London, but that he can see them in New York, making the time anything up to two weeks a month.?
However, the fluid access arrangement appears to be causing problems. ?Guy wants a traditional Christmas with his parents and the boys at Ashcombe but Madonna has just put her foot down and refused to allow it. She is just digging her heels in saying she want them with her in America.
?They are at a total stalemate. Madonna and Guy simply do not liaise at all on anything anymore ? it all goes through their PAs.?
[From Daily Mail]
Do the kids get to vote, because I would bet they would take pumpkin pie over tofu flan any Christmas! I think someone in this mess needs to ask the kids what they think. All three of those poor kids need someone to listen to them for once.
There isn’t a whole lot that disgusts me more than parents using their children against the other parent. I understand animosity after a divorce, I’ve been there, but trying to hurt your ex by using your kids hurts the kids way more than anything else. This is so painfully obvious to everyone who isn’t emotionally invested, but it seems to happen way too often. My heart goes out to those boys, and Lourdes, too. All the fantastic toys in the world won’t make up for feelings that are getting thrown at them.
Merry Christmas Lourdes, Rocco and David. Coal to both your parents
