A photo of a nude 20-year-old Madonna has been purchased by an anonymous European buyer for $37,500 in an auction at Christie’s. The picture was taken in 1979 when Madonna was just a poor, unemployed wannabe, and she was only paid $25 for the shoot. Though the photograph was only expected to sell for about $15,000, it has set a record price for pictures of the singer. The previous record was a photograph of the cover of her record, “True Blue,” which went for $15,000. The Christie’s auction was from the collection of Leon and Michaela Constantiner, and contained fashion and and celebrity images. Another photograph in the collection, featuring Madonna, went for $18,500.
Madonna, then known as Madonna Louise Ciccone, was a dancer trying to make ends meet when she answered a newspaper ad seeking a nude model. She may have earned as little as $25 for the 1979 photo session.
Lee Friedlander’s raw, explicit black-and-white image appeared in Playboy in 1985. Friedlander has said of the photo session that Madonna “seemed very confident, a street-wise girl. She told me she was putting a band together but half the kids that age are doing that. She was a good professional model.”
The photograph auctioned Thursday was one of six from that shoot that appeared in Playboy; the other five pictures were sold together in 2003 for $7,170.
A Herb Ritts photo of Madonna’s “True Blue” album cover, which sold for more than $15,000 in 2006, is the most expensive photograph of the singer to sell previously at auction, Christie’s said.
Another photograph of Madonna, by Helmut Newton, sold Thursday for $18,750, beating a $15,000 estimate. In that shot, also sold to Playboy in the 1980s, Madonna sports lingerie, curly blond hair and a seductive expression. A man kneels beside her.

It really is difficult to imagine Madonna as a young, inexperienced entertainer, though from the article, it sounds like she was always ready for fame. But wow - $37,500. It’s amazing to think how much people are willing to spend on pictures of celebrities. Tabloids are willing to pay millions for first looks at Brangelina’s children, though they’re expecting get most of that back through magazine sales. This “anonymous European buyer,” though, has purchased this photograph of Madonna just because it’s art. Or just because he has a thing for Madonna.
I’ve actually been to a NYC Christie’s auction because my family was selling some of my grandfather’s collections, and they’re really interesting. Bidding wars between potential purchasers are fun to watch, and I bet there was quite the purchasing competition with this photo. It got from below $15,000 all the way to $37,500 - that must have been some stiff bidding.
Wonder what Madonna will think when she finds out that her $37,500 photograph was topped by pictures of nude models in French and Italian Vogue, which sold for $242,500.

So Madonna has pretty much dumped steroid-pumping Alex Rodriguez for 22-year-old Brazilian model Jesus Luz. Madge has made a handful of semi-public appearances with the drop-dead gorgeous model, whom she met at a photo-shoot for W Magazine. A-Rod is said to be so distraught he turned to the wife he spurned for Madonna and had a fling in the Bahamas with two women who were making out in front of him at a bar.
Now there?s further evidence that Madonna and Jesus Luz are for real. Jesus is pulling the same Kabbalah-conversion stuff that Guy Ritchie and A-Rod were forced to go through to get into the Madge Vadge Motel. Jesus Luz confirmed on his website that he?s joined the religion (or ?religion?), spurning the Catholicism he was raised with. But how, you may ask, will he be able to afford the $50 Kabbalah water? Perhaps Madge is picking up the tab for her new lover. The Daily Mirror has more:

In a miraculous about-turn, Brazilian model Jesus Luz has switched to Madge?s mysterious Kabbalah faith ? despite being a strict Catholic. So smitten with the Material Girl is the 22-year-old hunk, he?s joined an online community for Kabbalah believers.
Jesus ? recently seen cavorting semi-naked with Madge in a W magazine spread ? has updated his website, informing ?friends? about the move. Says our source: ?Jesus?s family are very traditional and quite religious so this news is sure to come as something of a shock.
?But Jesus is totally taken with Madonna and is slightly in awe of her. Quite simply he can?t get enough, and finds her utterly compelling and bewitching.?
?The pair have spent a lot of time together in recent weeks and Madonna?s chatted quite freely about her personal beliefs ? especially Kabbalah.? ?He has joined an online Kabbalah group and is keen to become an active member. Madonna has also offered to take him to the Kabbalah centre in New York and he is exceedingly keen to take her up on that.?
Since splitting with Guy Ritchie last year, Madge has been linked to baseball star A-Rod and now Jesus who, at 22, is 28 years her junior. Jesus?s newfound spiritual interest will raise a few eyebrows back in his native homeland ? Kabbalah is not big in Brazil. But Jesus claims not to worry about that.
In his online profile, Jesus writes: ?It is not important what others think about us. The most important thing is to have a clear conscience, even if I am condemned. We can not forget that Jesus was condemned.?

Oh, sweet Jesus. Can you still have a martyr complex when you?re a Kabbalah-following douche named Jesus? I do feel bad for the kid - and truly, he is a kid. Madonna knew exactly what she was doing when she sunk her claws into this hottie. At this point, he probably doesn?t even know which end is up.
I?m giving some begrudging respect to Madonna, though. I have absolutely no idea how she got A-Rod to so publicly humiliate himself and his wife all to have a little time in the Madge Vadge Motel. I have no idea what a 22-year-old hottie would see in The Gristle, except for maybe a naive belief that it might be cool for a little while. What hidden talents does this woman have? She’s been gallivanting around the world with her new boy toy Jesus Luz, and the upcoming issue of W magazine has Madonna’s steamy photo shoot with the Brazilian stud (where they initially met).
The 46-page spread depicts the 50-year-old music icon and the 22-year-old hunky model hitting it off quite well at the hotel room setting, making out on a bed, and posing in some pretty spicy shots.

What is going on with Madonna and Alex Rodriguez and their affair of the heart? Their hearts don?t seem all that interested in each other anymore. Though they were recently reported to have rekindled their romance, it must be one heck of an open relationship, because Madge is still spending a good deal of time with Brazilian model Jesus Luz, who she was linked to over a month ago. The best part ? well, aside from the whole A-Rod debacle ? is that Jesus is only 22. Which is the same age I believe Madonna likes to think she looks.
They haven’t been photographed together for over a month, but this picture of Madonna and Brazilian model Jesus Luz will fuel speculation of a romance. The singer, 50, left a restaurant with the 22-year-old in New York yesterday. The couple ate at the Marcelleria Italian steakhouse in Manhattan’s trendy meatpacking district, before Madonna took her children Lourdes, David and Rocco for a shopping trip.
Their lunch date came a day after Madonna was seen enjoying a family day out with ex-husband Guy Ritchie While Madonna was wrapped up for the cold winter day, which saw temperatures dip as a low as -4C, Luz appeared oblivious to the chill as he walked with his shirt open
They were first photographed in December, but appeared to be standing deliberately apart, after another dinner date in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Madonna met Jesus in December on a photoshoot with celebrated photographer Steven Klein for American magazine W. In the raunchy pictorial, a smartly dressed Madonna pulls topless Jesus towards her in an intimate pose. Madonna was apparently so enamoured with the handsome Latino, she asked him to accompany her for the remainder of the South America leg of her Sticky & Sweet Tour.

Just one nit-picky thing to point out to the Daily Mail: it was 47 degrees in New York yesterday. Quite warm for February. The kind of weather where some cold folks still had on their scarves, and others had their jackets open. It?s not like Jesus was so desperate to have his shirt open that he was enduring freezing temperatures or anything.
Jesus? career is doing extraordinarily well since hooking up with Madonna. And it sounds like his ego has also grown in proportion. Last year his fee for a show was $225; this year he tried to charge $135,000 for the exact same gig. He also has dumped his agent, who says lots of people are interested in Jesus now, but they?re balking at his fees.
Since being linked to Madonna, it’s perhaps no surprise Jesus’s modelling career has been given a huge boost. His former agent Sergios Mattos, who runs 40 Graus Models, told the New York Post that Jesus stopped taking his calls after meeting Madonna and has now signed to the more high-profile Ford Models.
Mattos told Brazilian website Glamurama.com.br: ‘He stopped answering his phone, his mother quit her job… But I wish him the best. A source close to model also told Glamurama Jesus had raised his modelling rates since meeting Madonna. The source said: ‘He was asking for some $135,000 a show. He did the same job last year for a mere $225.
‘A lot of people are contacting him but because he keeps raising his rates, they are changing their minds.’

Jesus might want to reconsider assuming his worth has gone up exponentially. Madonna is very much the ?love ?em and leave ?em? type when it comes to her boy toys, and I highly doubt anyone will remember this guy?s name in a few months. Remember that whole thing about the people you meet on the way up are the same ones you meet on the way down? Pissing them off with your giant ego won?t do you any favors. Neither will falling in love with Madonna ? at least in the long run.

It’s been a very public divorce and a London judge has now given Madonna temporary permission to allow her two sons to move with ex-husband Guy Ritchie to the Big Apple.
The couple, who were spotted out with the kids for Kabbalah yesterday (January 31), announced that they were splitting in October after many reports that Madonna may have had a fling going on with New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.

Madonna has won temporary custody of her kids and will be allowed to take them out of Britain. Rocco, David and Lourdes are all expected to move to New York permanently.

The final chapter in the ugly Madonna-Guy Ritchie divorce seems to be winding down. Aside from the numerous allegations from both sides, including rumors of cheating with a certain high-profile baseball player, this split has really been about two things: the divorce settlement and the children. Madonna was reportedly pissed as hell that she had to hand over $76 million to Ritchie in the settlement, but as far as custody of the children, it appears that Madge fared well. Her request to establish U.S. residency with the children has been given preliminary approval - which means that Lourdes’ two little brothers, Rocco and David, will be able to stay in the States.
Madonna has won her residency battle with GUY RITCHIE and will move their two sons to America, according to a new report.
ROCCO, eight, and three-year-old adopted tot DAVID will join sister LOURDES, 12, in New York.
Madonna is understood to have been given temporary permission to remove the two boys from Britain ? with the move expected to be made permanent shortly.
A source close to the negotiations told a newspaper: ?Everything is going to be resolved in the next couple of weeks.
?Everything is going well. It’s pretty amicable at the moment. Things are progressing.?
Madonna?s spokeswoman refused to comment on her post-divorce plans.

I have to say, I’m surprised that Guy allowed the kids to be moved so far away. I hope there is a liberal visitation agreement in place, giving him lots of access to the kids. But given that Madonna is the mother of all control freaks, who knows? This is a woman who sends along a lengthy list of rules and instructions when the kids visit their father, for everything from what they eat to what they wear, listen to and touch. I also wonder how much privacy the kids are going to have living in NYC with their famous mom. I can’t help but think that Guy would have kept them more sheltered from media and paparazzi if they remained in the UK. How many shots of Madonna and the kids leaving that NYC Kabbalah center have we seen since the split?

Mama needs to pay off her ex-husband. After a six-month touring break, Madonna has announced that she will be resuming her massively successful ?Sticky & Sweet? tour in Britain and Europe. The dates will be announced on January 30. This tour is the first tour under her $120 million Live Nation deal. ?Sticky & Sweet? is already one of the most financially successful tours in the history of music, and there?s talk of adding even more cities and dates to the roster.
Madonna will crank up her Sticky & Sweet tour again this summer with about 25 more shows in the U.K. and Europe. The initial trek wrapped December 21 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The final leg of the tour — already the top-grossing tour ever by a female or solo artist — will start in London at the O2 Arena on July 4. Madonna also will play the Manchester (U.K.) Evening News Arena. The rest of the shows on the tour will be at stadiums in European markets that Madonna has never played or hasn’t played in several years, according to tour producer Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation. The complete route and list of venues will be released Friday (January 30).
Adding another leg to a tour is a highly unusual move for Madonna. “It absolutely has not happened in the four tours I’ve been involved with,” Fogel told Billboard.com. “There has been talk (of extending) during each one, but it has never come to be. But with this one, she loves the show, she’s had a great time and she’s excited about playing new markets.”
The extension will take Sticky & Sweet to around 80 shows, and boost it well into the top five grossing tours of all time. Despite the more than six-month break, the tour will feature the same production and performers as in 2008.
The Sticky & Sweet tour was the first under a 10-year multi-rights agreement between Madonna and Live Nation, valued in some reports at about $120 million.

I wonder what those performers and production people did for six months? Just waited around, wondering what Madonna was up to? I?ve never seen one of Madonna?s tours, but they?re supposed to pretty weird. On this one, she employs a lot of visual effects, costume changes, and very few of her old songs. Don?t her fans get pissed at that? You go to see her perform ?Like a Virgin? and ?Vogue? and you end up hearing a ten-minute version of her ?rap? song.

Madonna was looking curiously her age despite the plastic surgery and predictable attention-getting attire in a recent photo spread. In some shots the 50 year-old pop star is seen posing in white string underwear with white pantyhose and a surgical-type bandage wrapped tightly around her top. In others she’s wearing a nude-colored corset, her face close to the camera, lined and unairbrushed. She’s still very pretty despite her personality and the all work she’s had done, but she’s human and is not perfect-looking or completely smoothed over, which is said to have royally pissed off her madgesty. While some people were giving Madonna credit for allowing raw close up photos to be released, that of course wasn’t the case. Those photos were leaked before the Photoshop artists did their magic.
Madonna is also said to have enjoyed a recent getaway with Alex Rodriguez, with whom she was thought to have split up with. She was recently linked with a much younger Brazilian model, but that seemed like a publicity stunt on the model’s part. Whether or not the guy was actually doing the deed with Madonna was something I prefer not to think about:

Madonna was seen out at dinner with the Seinfelds two weeks ago so it doesn’t seem surprising that all these vile people are friends or that they stay over at each other’s estates.
Guy Ritchie was in the Poconos last weekend with sons Rocco, 8, and David, 3, and was seen hitting the slopes with Rocco. Maybe that’s when their mom had a weekend getaway with A-Rod. I wonder if it was a blissful type reunion or if it involved a lot of accusations, sulking and apologies.
