While director Guy Ritchie makes the press junket rounds in support of his highly anticipated (and swoon-inducing) new film, “Sherlock Holmes,” you can imagine that the topic of his famous ex wife, Madonna, is going to come up. But rather than dodging questions about Madge, Ritchie has been surprisingly open - and positive - about the mother of his son, Rocco. He even defended her acting skills and the one movie they did together, “Swept Away,” which was brutalized by critics and audiences alike. He also said that Madonna and he have always been in agreement that his past library of films isn’t appropriate for their kids - but he’s pleased that he’s finally made a movie his children can see.
?The whole thing is supposed to be ironic,? Ritchie says of the remake, which, although technically a romantic comedy, suggested that what a domineering woman really needs from her man is a good smack. ?It?s about a man that hits a woman, and at the same time, it was her. There were all sorts of irony. If you ask me, everything about it was rather interesting, but it was such a feral relationship between a man and woman and you just can?t get away with that in contemporary society.?
His sublimated rage at Madonna notwithstanding, he is happy to defend her as a thespian. ?If you ask me, I think she?s all right. I think she?s perfectly good. I just don?t think people can get her persona out of the way.?
Whatever happened between the two of them, one thing they are in agreement about is what is appropriate for children. And thus far, Guy Ritchie movies have not been on the approved list. Prior to this, Ritchie says, his kids with her Madgesty had never seen any of his films. It?s not the violence or the occasional sex scene, nor is he seriously worried about the films being disturbing to them. ?It?s just the language,? he explains. ?I don?t want them being conspicuously exposed to bad language.?
Finally, he?s made a movie his children can see. ?It?s something the whole family could enjoy and at the same time it?s iconic and English and smart.?

There are also reports that Madonna will be spending Christmas day with Ritchie and all four of the children in England.
Madonna will be reunited with ex-husband Guy Ritchie as the former husband and wife celebrate Christmas with their children, according to a new report.
It was previously reported the “Snatch” director would be looking after sons Rocco and David Banda and daughters Mercy James and Lourdes over the holidays.
But now it appears a full family reunion will take place as the Material Girl jets into Britain with the kids so they can spend Christmas Day with the filmmaker at his country estate in Wiltshire, England.
A source tells Britain’s Mail on Sunday, “Madonna is flying in for 24 hours so Guy can spend Christmas Day with the children. Things are amicable between them and the children love Christmas at Ashcombe House in Wiltshire, which Guy has turned into a Santa’s grotto.”
The stars’ divorce was finalized in January, 2009.

Making their way across the pond, Madonna and her daughter Mercy James were spotted arriving in London, England on a flight from Los Angeles today (December 21).
The Material Girl mommy and her adopted little girl looked content as they made their way through the terminal while shutterbugs scrambled to snap up pictures.
And as the 2000s come to a close, Madge has been named the most famous celebrity of the decade thanks to her high profile marriage and divorce, adoption bids, and sold-out tours.
Coming in behind Madonna fame-wise are Robbie Williams, Britney Spears, Kate Moss, David and Victoria Beckham, Michael Jackson, and Simon Cowell.

Remember how back in the day Madonna was such a big fan of sex that she wrote a whole book about it? These days, the thrill of shoving her sinewy feet into new shoes is so much more gratifying. Says Female First:
Renowned designer Jimmy Choo says the ‘Celebration’ hitmaker - who was previously married to director Guy Ritchie and actor Sean Penn - admitted she loves his creations far more than getting intimate with the men in her life.
He said: “Madonna told me that buying a pair of my shoes is more satisfying than having sex with a man.
“At least you know they are going to last for ever!”
It seems 51-year-old Madonna - who is currently dating model Jesus Luz, 23 - has had a change of attitude to sex since her marriage to Guy ended.
Before their split, she boasted about their “amazing” love life.
She said: “I don’t know who told you that having children and getting married means there is no erotica in your life.
“Our sex life is amazing. But I had to marry someone as tough as me. Guy’s definitely tough. I had to marry a challenge, otherwise I would just get bored. Whatever else Guy is, he’s never boring. He can be intolerant.
Oh yeah, Madonna’s tough all right. The problem is, she’s gotten so tough that screwing her must be like getting a rubdown with 220 grit sandpaper. Rather buy shoes than have sex, indeed.

Madonna decided to give her oldest daughter a special treat last night - a red carpet, and the premiere of Nine. Some days, I think Madonna just might be a cool mom. What a great mother-daughter activity! I?m totally serious, and I?m shocked that Madge was so cool about it. Anyway, these are the photos of Lola and Madge on the red carpet - they posed together the whole time, which was probably a precondition for Madge letting Lola go.
First of all, Lola really is a beautiful young woman. She seems very self-possessed too. The camera loves her, and she loves the camera right back. Oh, yes. She?ll be in the spotlight soon. Her skirt is a little too short for my taste (Lola is only 13 years old!), but she still manages to look like a kid with her boots and her braces. I used to think Lola looked just like her mom, but I?m seeing more of Carlos Leon in her face now. It works for her. As for Madge? well? it looks like she?s done something new to her face. And it looks painful.
Madonna turned the New York premiere of Nine into a family affair last night as she arrived with daughter Lourdes.
The film may have been set in the Sixties, but Madonna was clearly going for an Eighties look as she turned up in a figure-hugging outfit strongly reminiscent of her Like A Prayer look.
The 51-year-old singer looked nearly as young as she did during the 1989 video as she stepped out in a lace D&G bustier dress, long gloves and silver crucifix.
Her 13-year-old daughter was also going for the Eighties look in a Dolce & Gabbana fringed skirt, biker gloves, leather jacket, Doc Marten boots and several beaded necklaces.
With her boyfriend Jesus Luz DJing in his native Brazil, the Material Girl treated her eldest child to a night on the red carpet.

Yeah, I swear I?ve seen Madge wear this dress before. Maybe Dolce & Gabbana keeps churning out the same little black bustier dresses? Probably. Also, I don?t get Madge?s hair these days. Her hair says ?50-something bottle-blonde cougar? while her body says ?clinging-to-youth gristle?. If Madge wants to look younger, she needs to do something different with her hair. Maybe she could even mimic her daughter?s lovely brunette shade!

He’s still reeling at the bevy of babes who have come forward as his mistresses, and now Tiger Woods’ car crash police report has been released.
According to the report, Woods’ wife Elin was found kneeling over him as the Windermere Police arrived, having broken out the back windows of his Cadillac Escalade with a golf club.
The officer’s notes read, “I arrived on the scene at 0233 hours. Upon my arrival, I observed a black male lying in the roadway not moving, covered in a blanket and resting his head on a pillow. There was a white female kneeling over the subject (later identified to be the wife: Elin Nordegren).”
“Mr. Woods periodically attempted to get up; for his safety, I kept him lying down, using the pillow to immobilize his cervical spinal column.”

Can you believe it? A reporter actually had the balls to ask Madonna, otherwise known here at Celebitchy as “The Gristle,” about her man-arms. To her face! Talk about a death wish. Shockingly, Madge didn’t crack the reporter’s head between her thighs like a walnut; instead, she said that being fit is part of her job and helps her cope with the rigors of touring.
Madonna has brushed off criticism of her overly-muscled body - insisting she needs to keep in shape because it’s her job.
The Material Girl has sparked concerns about her obsession with fitness with her prominent biceps and frequent trips to the gym.
But the 51 year old is adamant she needs a rigorous training regime in order to cope with her strenuous on-stage dance routines.
She tells British TV show GMTV, “(I do it) for health reasons, and for aesthetic reasons. If I have to go out on stage and, you know, jump around in a pair of hot pants I better look good and also when I perform I’m like an athlete and I have to be in good shape. I’m not panicked, I just know what my job is and I know that if I want to be able to wear whatever I want to wear on stage then my body better look good.”

She raises a good point, and no one can deny that Madonna’s body doesn’t look like a typical 51-year-old’s. There is certainly nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, and trying to get as many good years out of your body as possible. But I can’t help but ask myself: should a 51-year-old be wearing hot pants on stage - even if she’s got a banging body? At what point must one decide to age with grace and perhaps leave the hot pants to the 20-year-olds? I’m not saying Madge should dress like a grandma librarian or anything. Helen Mirren is 60-plus and still manages to look sexy as hell - without looking like she raided a 13-year-old’s closet. As for the man-arms, I suppose that’s a matter of personal taste. I think it’s scary, but apparently there are plenty of men out there who think it’s hot.
In other Madge news, she revealed in that same GMTV interview that she is already considering the possibility of adopting another baby.
Popstar Madonna could adopt again.
The 51-year-old star already has two children from Malawi, son David Banda and daughter Mercy, as well as Rocco, from her marriage to Guy Ritchie, and Lourdes, from a previous relationship.
But the singer, whose eight-year marriage with film director Ritchie ended last year, has said she could expand her family.
Asked whether she would adopt again, she told GMTV: “Never say never.”
The star, who funds the Raising Malawi charity serving 25,000 orphaned children, added: “I’m really proud of the work that I’m doing in Africa. I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment in terms of my career and the work that I have done.
“I have four children now and I’d like to think I’m a good mother. I feel a great sense of satisfaction in all areas of my life.”
Madonna, who has moved back to New York following her split with Ritchie, said she did not miss London pubs.
But the pop queen, whose former husband owns the Punch Bowl pub in London, said: “I miss being able to walk around the neighbourhood. It’s more mellow, laid back and relaxed (in London) than it is in Manhattan.”

Nice little dig there about not missing the London pubs, eh? Considering that her ex-husband owns one and spends a lot of time in it. So, any wagers on whether she’ll adopt again - and which will it be, boy or girl? She has the perfect set right now, with two boys and two girls. Maybe she’ll go for a set of twins, which will make her even with Brangelina in the kid department.

Stepping out for an evening of cinema, Madonna attended a special screening of “A Single Man” hosted by The Cinema Society and Bing in New York City on Sunday (December 6).
Held at The Museum of Modern Art, the Material Girl was decked out in her finest garb, mingling with a guest list including Nicholas Hoult, Julianne Moore and Tom Ford.
As for “A Single Man,” the Tom Ford directed drama stars both Miss Moore and Colin Firth, along with Matthew Goode, Ginnifer Goodwin and Keri Lynn Pratt.
The highly acclaimed film is described as “a story that centers on an English professor who, after the sudden death of his partner tries to go about his typical day in Los Angeles.”

Madonna does everything big. And now, the singer just raised a sum of $11 million for her Malawi charity.
The superstar went to African courts to fight to adopt two children from the orphanage in Malawi, and is now helping out the poor area that has also been stricken with AIDS.
Madonna received the money from pledges from Brazilian millionaires while on a trip to Rio while she is said to have visited the parents of her beau, 22-year-old Jesus Luz.
But she denies those rumors or that she was meeting his 36-year-old mother and that her visit was only a philanthropic venture involving meetings with high power Brazilians.
Madonna got an unspecified pledge from the country’s richest man, the mining magnate Eike Batista, whose estimated fortune is worth $7.5million.
The charity is the Raising Malawi Foundation which was started back in 2006. She previously traveled to Malawi with her four children and took part in a ceremony for a girls’ school she started and then took David Banda and Mercy back to visit the orphanage she adopted them from.

Continuing to show her dedication to starting a children’s charity in Brazil, Madonna spent the day touring one of Rio de Janeiro’s infamous slums alongside state governor Sergio Cabral on Friday (November 13).
Joined by a presidential-level security entourage made up of her own staff and local military police armed to the teeth, the Material Girl has reportedly been causing havoc wherever she goes during her week-long stay in the country.
With media and locals appearing in the hundreds, Madge is said to have “impressed with her friendly demeanor and interest as she toured social projects in the Santa Marta slums.”
The area happens to be part of one of Rio’s infamous ‘favelas’, slums known for violence and drug trafficking - but also for children and families in need.
The previous night, Madonna met with local power players to raise money for her project.
She has also been seen out for dinner with Brazilian boyfriend Jesus Luz and is rumored to have met his mother as their relationship edges towards the year mark.

Continuing along with her stay in Brazil, Madonna was spotted offering up a smile as she left the children’s charity Casa do Saber in Sao Paulo on Thursday (November 12).
According to a source on the scene, as the Material Girl exited the venue, a team from a well-known tropical comedy TV show tried to play a prank on her involving a T-shirt with a laughable slogan thrown in her direction.
Meanwhile, Madonna is also expected to be meeting Michael Berg, one of Kabbalah’s leaders who happens to be giving a lecture in Sao Paulo, later on during the course of the day.
She is then due to return to Rio tonight for a dinner hosted by a billionaire to raise funds for a Brazilian children’s charity she wants to set up.
