Julia Roberts has long claimed that she was the victim of severe hazing during the filming of the Oceans movies, often at the hands of George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Neither Pitt nor Clooney has ever admitted what pranks were played, but Julia maintains that the boys did things to her toilet, light bulbs and phone. Sounds more like Clooney than Pitt, but what do I know?
Julia didn?t have to worry about those kinds of pranks while working with Clive Owen though. Yes, Julia is continuing her endless tour of talking about how great Clive is, how much fun they have together, and how well they get along. Funny, Clive never mentions how close he and Julia are. Maybe it?s all in her head. Julia talked (and talked) more about Clive in a new interview with People Magazine:
Julia Roberts says there’s an ocean of difference between working with Clive Owen and her other recent costars, George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
She didn’t have to watch her back.
“What a relief. I didn’t have to check the toilet for anything or the light bulbs or the phone,” she says of the on-set pranks by her Oceans Twelve pals. “It was just good old-fashioned friendship.”
And fun. Roberts, 41, returns to the big screen in the romantic caper Duplicity, in theaters March 20, reuniting with her Closer costar Owen. She says Owen, 46, makes her laugh constantly, which helped sparked instant chemistry onscreen.
“We have a similar sense of humor,” she says. “Our list of priorities in our personal lives are not different. We are both happily married with families and lead a pretty normal, unaffected existence within in this odd universe of show business that we’ve both chosen to go into.”
Roberts and Owen play spies turned corporate operatives in the midst of an on-again and off-again love affair trying to scheme and seduce each other using quick banter.
“I’m Southern so I can talk really fast,” says the Oscar-winning actress. “I grew up on Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, His Girl Friday movies ? that rat-a-tat-tat talking cadence and that rhythm. I love that kind of thing.”
One thing she doesn’t love as much, at least right now, is the thought of her three children ? twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 4, and son, Henry, 1, joining her and cameraman dad Danny Moder in show business.
“My first instinct is that if my children wanted to be artists, that they wait,” Roberts says. “I would prefer that they just wait as long as they can.”

Julia is good at movies with a lot of dialogue, I will give her that. Clive is too, even though he usually plays the strong, silent type. Duplicity is being billed as a sort-of rom-com with a spy side-story, but I really think the film is more about spies than laughs. The producers have cut the trailers so it looks like it?s all romance and laughter, most likely in an attempt to tap into Julia?s hardcore fanbase of women who have seen Pretty Woman a million times. Just keep in mind - Tony Gilroy, the writer/director of Duplicity, is the same guy who did Michael Clayton.

Julia Roberts gave an interview to The Daily Mirror (quotes via The Press Association) explaining why she didn?t attend this year?s Oscar ceremony. Julia says that her husband, Danny, ?had been away and just returned home? so they decided to just stay home with the kids and watch the ceremony on television. Call the presses! Why make such a production about it? I don?t recall any articles in the days after the Oscars pleading with the nation to explain why-oh-why Julia wasn’t at the awards. The Press Association has more:
Julia Roberts has revealed she snubbed a night at the Oscars to be at home with her children.
The 41-year-old A-lister, who was once the world’s best-paid actress, told the Daily Mirror she is more than happy to take some time out with her husband of seven years, Danny Moder, and three children Hazel, Phinn and Henry.
“My husband had been away and just returned home so I felt it best to stay home and be with my family,” she said. “That was my priority so we watched the show on television.”
She continued: “My life at home gives me absolute joy. There are some days when as soon as you’ve finished cooking breakfast and cleaning the kitchen it’s time to start lunch and by the time you’ve done that you’re doing dinner and thinking there has to be a menu we can order from. But some days are so much fun and my kids will help me and it’s just a part of your day. Some days it’s super fun and some days it’s a chore.”
She also denied that she missed working, saying that she was happier than ever with Danny.
“We’re best friends and we support each other in every way. You have a connection with your partner that becomes an unbreakable bond and that’s why you get married,” she enthused. “Of course life has changed and I work less, but I was never one to work too much.”

Confusingly, in March?s Allure magazine Julia was just complaining that married life has lost its luster. And now she?s saying everything?s roses. On different days, everyone feels differently about their lives, I get that. And I applaud Julia for her honesty in the Allure piece for talking about how un-glamorous real life is, even for a big celebrity. I also applaud her for basically saying that she?s a full-time cook and maid to her children. But her accounts of her life come across as rather contradictory to me.

Julia Roberts is in full-promotional mode. She?s got Duplicity coming out in more than a month, and the role is being billed as the latest of Julia?s many ?comeback? roles. She?s acting opposite her favorite actor, Clive Owen, and she?s been giving little interviews about him for several weeks (even though the film he?s promoting currently is The International, with Naomi Watts).
So it?s little surprise that Julia sat down and gave an interview to Allure magazine. What surprises me is that she talks in some detail about her family rather than her hot co-stars. Julia says about her children that they are ?little time thieves? and reminds us all of just how great her life is: ?I’m the luckiest girl in town, I really am.? Of course, Julia. People magazine has some more details about the Allure interview:
As a fulltime stay-at-home mom for the past year, Julia Roberts says life outside the Hollywood spotlight has been anything but uneventful ? thanks to her kids with husband Danny Moder.
“I will never be bored again,”] the Oscar winner, 41, tells Allure for its March issue.
“Danny and I talk about, ‘What did we do with all the time we must have had?’ ” she says. “Because you don’t recognize it as such, until you have all these little ? time thieves running around your house.”
Focused on raising her three children ? twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 4, and another son, Henry, 20 months ? Roberts has become creative in using home remedies when it comes to removing a splinter.
“We get a lot of splinters in our house,” says Roberts, whose new movie is Duplicity, with Clive Owen.
“A splinter is just a good light, a pair of tweezers and a lot of singing songs and passing the time: La-la-la, now listen, if you eat all of your dinner It’s distraction and extraction.”
The domesticated star admits her life at home is a juggling act, and while “it can lose its luster a little bit,” the key to her happy marriage and family is affection.
“The coolest thing you can do for your children is to love each other in their presence,” she says. “I’m the luckiest girl in town, I really am.”
From People Magazine
My deck is very old, and there are places where the wood is worn down and splitting, so in the summer I often get splinters too. My best remedy - when you first see that you have a splinter, wait and don?t touch it. The worst thing is to try to take care of a splinter with your bare hands/nails. Get a pair of tweezers, sterilize them (a lighter will do), and very carefully and slowly remove the splinter. If you try to pull it out too fast, or if you?re not paying attention, part of the splinter could break off.
Julia seems like her normal self in the interview, but I do wonder if the whole ?”it can lose its luster a little bit? comment was just some throw-away remark or if it was something that Julia?s really dealing with. One of the (few) things I?ve always admired about Julia is that when she wants to disappear and take a break from Hollywood, she does so successfully. But as the ?comeback? roles accumulate and Julia makes more needless public appearances to promote nothing but herself, I tend to wonder if she?s just bored out of her mind out there in New Mexico with Danny Moder.

While many celebrities sought out the hottest and most happening parties for the New Year’s holiday, Julia Roberts seemed content to keep things low-key.
The “Pretty Woman” actress was spotted on Friday (January 2) hanging out with her son Henry and twins Phinnaeus and Hazel (with the help of a family friend) at a local playground in Taos, New Mexico.

Angelina Jolie has just beat out Reese Witherspoon as the highest paid actress in the world. As if she didn?t already have enough going for her. Angelia rakes in more than $15 million a movie, according to Us Weekly, while her films brought in over $1 billion worldwide last year. So it sounds like she?s a pretty good investment.
Angelina Jolie has topped the Hollywood Reporter’s list of the highest-paid actresses.
Jolie, whose 2008 movies earned nearly $1 billion worldwide, commands more than $15 million a movie, followed by Julia Roberts and last year’s top earner, Reese Witherspoon.
(The actress recently replaced Tom Cruise in the espionage thriller Edwin A. Salt. Shooting begins in February.)
Meanwhile, Jolie ranked No. 24 on The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment: Power 100 list.

The best thing about Angelina, in my not-so-humble opinion, is the amount of money she and Brad Pitt have given away to charity. They recently donated $100,000 to Global Action for Children, and encouraged others to do the same. The pair have consistently given money to worthy causes, especially those supporting kids.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation donated $100,000 to Global Action for Children, it was reported Thursday.
“With the holiday season upon us, we hope the generous gift from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation inspires others to give and focus on assisting orphans and highly vulnerable children around the world,” the charity’s executive director, Jennifer Delaney, said in a statement. “Each and every donation can truly make a difference in the life of a child.”
In 2006, the couple - who are parents to three adopted children - donated $1 million to the GAC. According to tax filings, they donated more than $8 million to various charities through their foundation that year.
“GAC is honored to receive a second grant from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, and we greatly appreciate the Jolie-Pitt Family’s continued commitment to and support of our work,” Delaney added.

Brad and Angelina have received a fair amount of criticism for all their donations, with a lot of people claiming they just do it for attention. If that?s the case, there?s a lot worse things they could do to get people to notice them. I have yet to see Angelina forget to wear her underpants or Brad beat up a paparazzo. If helping other people gets you some attention, then right on.
