Last night was the big New York premiere of Eat, Pray, Love, and most of the film?s stars came out. Missing in action were James Franco, who plays Julia?s boyfriend at the beginning of the film (I think), and executive producer Brad Pitt (who Julia is ?beholden? to, yet didn?t show up). What is Julia wearing for her big premiere, one of the biggest nights in this film?s publicity tour? Um? I?m not sure. It looks like some kind of satiny straightjacket, only I think a straightjacket would probably compliment her figure more than this boxy mess. I guess Julia thought if she was showing off her legs, she should cover everything else up? Eh. Her hair and makeup look good, though, I?ll give her that.
Despite the lack of Franco, there was some man-candy last night, most notably my lover Javi. You might know him as Javier Bardem. He looked awesome! Okay, he looked a little tired, but still, very lovely.
And here?s Billy Crudup - I think he plays the ex-husband, maybe? He?s not my type, but he looked pretty good.
Now, I think a lot of Josh Brolin?s hotness, I really do. I realize he might be an abusive, arrogant son of a bitch (allegedly), but just on looks, he?s really my type. I think he?s sexy as hell. But this haircut is not working for me in the least. I?m actually not sure why he?s there. Maybe to support his No Country For Old Men costar Javi? Diane Lane isn?t there - Josh brought a very woman as his date. I?m kind of thinking she?s his daughter, though.

Stepping out for a night on the red carpet, Julia Roberts was all smiles at the premiere of "Eat, Pray, Love" in New York City on Tuesday (August 10).
Held at the Ziegfeld Theatre, the lovely actress joined up alongside co-star Javier Bardem as they prepared for the private screening of their upcoming film.
Due out in theaters on August 13th, the movie's synopsis reads: "While trying to get pregnant, a happily married woman realizes her life needs to go in a different direction, and after a painful divorce, she takes off on a round-the-world journey. Based on the memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert."
Meanwhile, of the "Eat, Pray, Love" filming process, Julia previously told press of having to pack on the pounds, "Like in the scene with the pizza, by the time the scene is over, I?ve eaten the entire piece. When we were in Naples, we started shooting at eight in the morning, and I think by 8:45 I?d eaten eight or ten pieces of pizza. Pizza was what I ate all day that day."
The "Pretty Woman" beauty added, "By the time we left Rome I was seven to ten pounds heavier."

She?s always good for a promotional appearance, and earlier today (August 9) Julia Roberts was spotted paying a visit to ?Live With Regis and Kelly? in New York City.
The award-winning actress flashed her infamous smile behind a pair of designer sunglasses as she made her way inside ABC Studios - greeting her adoring fans along the way.
Ms Roberts has been out fulfilling promo duties for her film, ?Eat Pray Love,? in which she's constantly been asked about the ?Eat? aspect and - in a recent interview - she told, ?I gained under 10 pounds for this movie. Let?s set the record straight because I?ve read it was much, much more.?
She continued, ?I packed on the pounds during the Italy part of the shoot, but then people said, ?Oh, you?ll lose it when you film in India.?
Laughing, Julia added, ?Somehow, I didn?t get that memo.?

Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Julia Roberts was spotted arriving at ?The Late Show with David Letterman? yesterday (August 4).
The ?Pretty Woman? actress took some time to sign autographs for her fans before heading inside the Ed Sullivan Theater for her interview.
And apparently, Ms. Roberts had a problem with the way the ?Late Show? announcer Alan Kalter handled the intro, as she mentioned it to Letterman on the show.
"Can I just log a tiny complaint? I'm in the dressing room watching, and in the intro [Kalter says], 'And Tonight -- Julia Roberts!' ... and then they say, 'A problem with varicose veins?'"

We knew it was coming. And here it is - Julia Roberts on the September cover of Elle Magazine. Word is that she?ll be the cover girl for 20 of Elle?s international editions too - and Julia was allegedly photographed by three different photographers. As for the American cover - this is the newstand cover (below). The subscriber’s cover is apparently a lot artsier. Anyway, the rest of the shoot is pretty decent. My favorites are the black and white pics, just because I love her styling in those photos. Not so much with the Indian garb, that doesn’t work for me. You know what else doesn?t work? The interview! People Magazine excerpted the part where Julia is going full-on rant about plastic surgery and Botox and aging. Here?s the thing: on the ?Toxed face of it, I agree with what Julia is saying completely. But Julia is denying that she would ever let a surgeon touch her face. Is it just my imagination, or did Julia have her eyes done (at least that) a few years ago? Remember when she came out to promote Charlie Wilson?s War in 2007 and her face looked incredibly tight? Julia Roberts wants to age gracefully, but there’s another reason why she’ll say no to plastic surgery ? especially on her face.
“I want my kids to know when I’m pissed, when I’m happy and when I’m confounded,” the actress, 42, and new face of Lancome, tells Elle in its September issue. “Your face tells a story and it shouldn’t be a story about your drive to the doctor’s office.”
Roberts says she simply doesn’t understand why some would go to all lengths to hold onto their youth:
“It’s unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don’t even give themselves a chance to see what they’ll look like as older persons. I want to have some idea of what I’ll look like before I start cleaning the slates,” she says.
On her kids: “You make these people and you love them and you want them around for a thousand years,” she says about her three kids ? 3-year-old Henry and 5-year-old twins Phinnaeus and Hazel ? with cameraman Danny Moder. “And you want to be there for them for a thousand years.”
On being a Hindu: The entire Roberts-Moder family, she reveals, goes to temple together to “chant and pray and celebrate. I’m definitely a practicing Hindu,” says Roberts, who grew up with a Catholic mother and Baptist father. And since in Hindu cosmology souls can be reincarnated in other bodies, where does she see herself in the next life? “Golly, I’ve been so spoiled with my friends and family in this life,” she says. “Next time I want to be just something quiet and supporting.”

Wait, she?s a practicing Hindu? My father is a Hindu. Half of my family is Hindu. Chanting and praying is nice, but it doesn?t really make you a Hindu. Hindu conversion is a little tricky, actually. It?s not like there?s really a set of rules for conversion, like there is for Judaism. My dad always joked that if you want to be a Hindu, all you have to do is be born Hindu the next time. Get it? It?s a reincarnation joke. He also says that if you want to convert, all you really have to do is say you are Hindu and maybe put up a little statue of your favorite deity - my favorite is Vishnu, although historically my family has been more into worshipping Shiva, who is cool too. I have icons of both! Oh my God, Julia and I are so alike!

Even though I?m not going to see Eat, Pray, Love unless there?s some kind of armed hostage negotiation situation happening, I am really, really looking forward to the promotional tour. Julia is going to do a bunch of magazine cover interviews, she?s going to do a bunch of television interviews, and there will probably be a million red carpets and photo calls. It?s going to be exciting! Julia hasn?t done the starring-role press junket in a while, and I?m excited to see what she wears and to read her interviews. It?s a mixed bag for me - Julia annoys me to no end, but she?s also a huge, interesting movie star with sh-t to say. Yes, she?s incredibly self-absorbed, but she?s always fascinating to watch and read about.
Anyway, the promotional tour is gearing up. Julia made this week?s cover of Entertainment Weekly, the studio released a new clip from the film (at the end of the post), and I?m now shaking with JULIA!! anticipation. Unfortunately, EW only released these ?meh? quotes from the interview:
Think noshing on delectable Neapolitan pizza sounds like the perfect day?s work? According to Julia Roberts, it gets old after a while. In this week?s cover story, the star of Eat Pray Love talks about carrying a film for the first time in a decade, her own personal ?lost years,? and ? in this excerpt from the interview ? why she never used a spit bucket during the EPL shoot.
EW: Did you have a spit bucket by your side for all of the food scenes?
Roberts: Well, first of all, that grosses me out. But the truth of the matter is, there probably would have come a point when I would have used it. If you look at any of the scenes of eating, by the end of the scene, I?m done eating. Like in the scene with the pizza, by the time the scene is over, I?ve eaten the entire piece. When we were in Naples, we started shooting at 8 in the morning, and I think by 8:45 I?d eaten 8 or 10 pieces of pizza. Pizza was what I ate all day that day.
EW: Did you want it to look like you had gained weight after the Italy portion of the film?
Roberts: You know, we talked about that. Because I didn?t want people to say, ?Well, she?s supposed to go to Italy and eat all this food, but she looks the same in the whole thing.? So I talked to [director] Ryan [Murphy] about it. And one of the things I love the most about Ryan is that he has a real legitimate answer for everything. There?s nothing that he hasn?t considered weeks before I?ve thought of the question. When it came to that, I said, ?What do we do?? And he said, ?By the time Liz got to Italy, she was so underweight that the weight she put on really got her back to normal and then a little bit more.? It wasn?t like she [became] a tub. So because I started at normal weight for me, by the time we left Rome and I was 7 to 10 pounds heavier, that was probably the truth of what she was dealing with. I could?ve used a bigger pair of jeans when I went off to India!

She only gained seven pounds? I would call that a win, for real. I could gain seven pounds just by eating at the Chinese buffet for a few days. Also, in another interview, Julia talks about her three kids, saying that: ?They love books. I don?t act for them per se, but we certainly play a lot. I?m very impressed with my kids. I think they?re really interesting human beings. I have a good time with them.? Maybe it?s a weird translation (I found these quotes on a German site), but doesn?t Julia sound rather clinical? Weird.

Most people avoid gaining weight, but when it comes to the sake of a movie, Julia Roberts is willing to step up to the ?plate.?
For the 42-year-old?s role in the film ?Eat, Pray, Love,? the star admits to gaining about seven pounds from chowing down on pasta for the ?Eat? part of the movie.
?It was hard on take ten with a giant plate of pasta,? said Julia. ?It is a challenge and I love a good meal.?
?Someone suggested I had a spit bucket but I can?t do that because it makes me gag. It just grosses me out,? added the witty and beautiful actress.

It?s no secret that I think Eat, Pray, Love looks like a turd of a film, and that I?m not really looking forward to Julia Roberts’ big promotional tour. Well… I should put it this way: the promotional tour could be kind of interesting, just because Julia hasn?t had a big starring role in a long time in a movie that seems to be a little gift-wrapped package to the self-help-loving Oprah viewership. Here?s what I didn?t realize: Eat, Pray, Love doesn?t come out until the middle of August! Usually, that?s where films go to die. The way the studios figure, it?s too late for a summer blockbuster and too early for the Oscar-bait autumn releases, plus everyone is on vacation or getting ready for school. But - it might end up working. After spending the summer watching the big, action-packed blockbusters with their sons/boyfriends/husbands, I imagine many women will want to go see their Julia, and make it a summer treat for themselves with their girlfriends or something. It could work.
Anyway, Julia wants to make sure she has a hit on her hands, and she wants to ensure that everyone still remembers that she?s The Biggest Star In The World. I sincerely don?t mean to denigrate Julia on that count - she once was the biggest star in the world. A decade ago. But these times, they are a changin?. So to ensure her superstardom and the success of the film, Julia has worked out a deal with Elle Magazine:
Julia Roberts’ press campaign for her upcoming chick-flick, Sony’s “Eat Pray Love,” will be aggressive. We hear she’ll be shooting three different covers with three different photographers for the September issue of Elle. Roberts will also grace the cover of more than 20 international editions of the magazine.
The movie, out in mid-August, just secured a “PG-13? rating after producers convinced the MPAA that its “brief strong language, some sexual references and male rear nudity” didn’t warrant the “R” rating it had initially been given.

Good Lord. Twenty covers? That?s a whole lotta Julia. My guess is that she?ll probably also do a big August cover, maybe Vogue or W Magazine or something (I think the August Vanity Fair cover is going to Angelina Jolie). And then we?ll get to sit through hundreds of television interviews in which we are assured, of course, that JULIA! is back and that she demands that we pay attention to her.
By the way, here?s the new poster for Eat, Pray, Love. Eh. I mean, it?s not nearly as bad as it could be. I was expecting just Julia?s big head, but this photo/promotional image just seems like a throwaway, or an ad for gelato. Because after seeing this is, I don?t want to see the movie, but I would like a tasty frozen treat.
And here?s the trailer once again. God, this just looks like she spends two hours whining.

Plugging away on the set of her new movie, Julia Roberts was spotted in Pasadena, CA on Friday (May 21).
The award-winning actress looked gorgeous in an army green collared-dress and sunglasses as she worked the day away alongside Tom Hanks.
In other news, Roberts recently opened up about how ?fascinated? she is with her five-year-old twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, and two-year-old Henry, telling press, ?They are really angelic and wondrous. It?s so heavenly and kind and dear just to have that.?
Elaborating on the topic, Julia continued, ?The chaos that goes on in our house and then the quietude that goes on? My favorite thing is just watching them wake up and watching them realize the day come upon them. It?s just, I don?t know, it?s fascinating to me.?
