As we covered yesterday, Gwyneth Paltrow made a very special appearance at the East Hampton Library?s Authors Night, a charity event in which ?authors? signed copies of their books as a way to raise money for the library. Because Dame Goop is an ?author? now, the same as Joyce Carol Oates and Joan Didion, right? Right. Anyway, it seems like the real authors (cough) were not all that pleased that Gwyneth deigned to goop away in their peasanty presence. Of course, the shade was verbose and at least one writer needed a good fact-checker.
Gwyneth Paltrow was a huge draw at East Hampton Library?s Authors Night ? but also drew the ire of her fellow writers, who took their revenge with pungent meat products. Paltrow, a vegan, was there with her Coldplay rocker hubby Chris Martin and kids Moses and Apple to promote her impossibly virtuous cookbook ?It?s All Good.?
Author Christina Oxenberg ? who sat next to Paltrow signing copies her own book ?Life Is Short? ? wrote on her blog, ?Due to the inflexibility of the alphabet, I had the questionable good fortune to be seated directly beside [Paltrow] . . . Slowly yet unmistakably a line began to form in front of my section of table. These folks were hushed and reverential and had a particularly earnest and focused demeanor and casting furtive eyes around . . . the increasingly urgent question they posed, ?Where is Gwyneth?? . . . Then the divinity in question arrived with hubby, children and a couple of massive bodyguards. The worshippers blocked my view of the whole world.? Oxenberg said she abandoned her post and headed to the food table and loaded up on ?sloppy hamburgers? and ?stinky steak sandwiches.?
Then, ?Gwyneth?s bodyguards blocked my re-entry despite my assurance I was just an author and pointing at my name tag. ?No!? they growled, body blocking me. So I was forced to crawl under the table. And there I sat with my meat products, wafting the excellent smells toward my sleek vegan neighbor. She ignored the siren smells of protein. We never did say hello, although I did try to sell my book to her sleek vegan children. No bites.?

Well, Gwyneth isn?t vegan (anymore). Her latest cookbook is all about the elimination diet (or the Goop version of it), but when she?s not eliminating carbs and juice fasting, I?m pretty sure that Gwyneth still eats meat. Her first cookbook had recipes for duck ragu, for the love of Goop. But everything else? love it. Of course Gwyneth brought bodyguards to a charity book-signing. What if the peasants tried to touch her?!!??! And what if a real author tried to speak to Dame Goop?! That would have been horrible. Also: Jay McInerney?s ?ghost-writer? shade is perfection.

Gwyneth Paltrow has been vacationing in the Hamptons for a while now. She owns a house in the Hamptons, and I guess she and her family spend at least a month there every year. Over the weekend, Gwyneth participated in the 9th Annual Authors Night, a benefit for the East Hampton Library. Goop looked like she wasn?t wearing any makeup, right? But that suits her ? I prefer Goop without makeup, with her hair kind of wavy and frizzy. That?s my favorite look for her, although at this event, it does look like Gwyneth attempted to flat-iron her hair but then sort of gave up on it. And you know what? I really like her little white shift dress. It?s incredibly cute and summery and it suits her.
Anyway, there aren?t that many stories about Dame Goop deigning to mingle with the peasantry. Which basically means that the Hamptons are full of celebrities and rich people and Goop fit right in. She even wore a name-tag for part of the event! Which is cute. Page Six also had this:

A huge line formed under the tent at Gardiner Farm, and she ran out of books. But she found a spare for one disappointed fan, crossing out the already written dedication ?To Sarah,? and changing it to ?To Susie.?
Also there were Eric Fischl, Philippe Petit, Nile Rodgers and the indefatigable Dr. Ruth.

I didn?t see any photos of Chris Martin, there are just reports that he was there. He must have dodged the cameras whenever it seemed like they might take a photo of him supporting his wife. I?m including one pic of Apple, who I still say is going to grow up into a really beautiful, striking young woman. She?s going to look like a mix of her mom and Kate Moss, I think. Apple has those wide-set cat-like eyes like Kate Moss.
PS? Did Goop wear a bra to this event? I don?t think she did. Gross Goop.

Back in the early days of Gwyeth Paltrow?s Goop, I remember that every other newsletter was a Goop-tastic recommendation for some kind of asinine juice cleanse or fast or Master Cleanse or whatever. Gwyneth just seemed like she was constantly ?cleansing? or fasting, which is just a fancy way of saying that she had an eating disorder and she highly recommended fancy, expensive eating disorders to peasants. At some point, it did feel like Gwyneth stopped recommending ?cleanses? although her last cookbook did seem to border on some very extreme elimination dieting (although Gwyneth later claimed she wasn?t really recommending elimination diets, except that was exactly what It?s All Good was). Meanwhile, throughout the years, Gwyneth has grown more and more vitamin deficient, even developing anemia and osteoporosis, and she doesn?t see how all of that is connected. And she still thinks she?s so brilliant for giving all of the peasants her dieting wisdom. Well, now Goop hath spoken again.
The brilliance of her business partner Tracy Anderson: ?Keep up consistent exercise. I am dedicated to the Tracy Anderson Method and it has completely changed my body. Still, when I first started working with Tracy, finding motivation was hard. She advised me to think of exercise as an automatic routine, no different from brushing your teeth, to avoid getting distracted. Now it is part of my life.?
Her exercise regime: ?I exercise Monday to Friday at 10am and always stick with it. I?d also recommend concentrating on moving more ? we sit for so much of the day. Choose to walk or take the stairs, or briskly climb a hill in the evenings. It creates good muscle tone and boosts your metabolism.?
The dangers of cleanses: “A detox is a great place to start before a diet. My doctor, Alejandro Junger, recommends a detox once a year to rid organs of processed food and environmental toxins. His theory is that the gut (your system of digestive organs) is the root of good health. It contains about 80 per cent of your body?s serotonin ? which regulates appetite ? so you?re more likely to lose weight when it?s working properly. This year I chose the Elimination Diet, which meant no additives or processed foods for three weeks. I?ve done juice cleanses in the past, and in my twenties I did the Master Cleanse, which left me hallucinating after 10 days. Be aware: a juice detox can crash your metabolism and lead to future weight gain.?
Don?t weigh yourself: ?There is something punitive about weighing yourself. It can leave you vulnerable to shame and guilt, and it messes with you psychologically. Women naturally gain and lose weight during their monthly cycle anyway, so it can be more realistic to monitor your body shape with a measuring tape.?
Again, she still smokes one cigarette a week: ?Stay away from processed foods, though cutting them out completely is no fun and can ultimately lead to a binge. Allow yourself programmed treats ? I often have a glass of red wine in the evening and smoke a cigarette on a Saturday. I love those moments because they are just the right amount of naughty. That balance keeps you vibrant. You have to live your life, after all.?

I?m still stuck on the whole idea that she thought she was having a stroke or something and she went to the doctor and was diagnosed with anemia and severe vitamin deficiency and somehow she made that into ?go on a cleanse? starve yourself some more.? I also think it?s weird/funny/typical Goop that she adds the caveat ?a juice detox can crash your metabolism and lead to future weight gain.? OH, because that?s the reason to avoid nonsensical cleanses. Because it might make you gain a few pounds once you gorge yourself after your nonsensical cleanse. Goop?s Very Special Message To Peasants: ?Everybody should cleanse once a year because of GOOP SCIENCE but don?t come crying to Goop when you gain a few pounds after you get sick as a dog on your cleanse and have to go back to normal food.?

Last year around this time, there were UK sources claiming that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were preparing to move their family to LA. The claim was that Gwyneth was homesick and that she wanted to be closer to her mom and her brother Jake. Well, Goop and Chris DID buy a new home in LA, although they?ve spent much of the last year in London, like always. Now The Mail is reporting again that Goop wants to move her kids to LA so they can spend a few years getting an American education? but sources say Goop definitely wants Apple and Moses to go to high school/prep school in England because American schools are too peasanty. Basically.
She has lived in London for a decade and calls it her ?adopted home?, but Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow is moving her family back to Los Angeles. The 40-year-old actress and her rock-star husband Chris Martin of Coldplay plan to make LA their home for at least the next two years. The family will move in time for their children Apple, nine, and Moses, seven, to start the school term in September.
A source said: ?Gwyneth has loved living in London but America will always be home and she wants to be closer to her family. Her mother and brother live in California and she plans to spend the next couple of years in Los Angeles while her children are young enough for their education not to be affected. She misses her family terribly and now is the time to move.?
‘Her children have English accents and once they start senior school Gwyneth says the family will likely return to the UK because she believes that the English education system is second to none.?
Rumours have been rife for months that the family was planning to move back to California after they forked out 6.6 million on an opulent new home in a private Hollywood Hills estate. The 8,000 square-foot house in the exclusive Brentwood area is the most expensive in the couple?s property empire which includes their 4.6 million home in North London, a 3.2 million penthouse flat in New York and a 3.4 million house in the Hamptons near New York.
Designed by renowned US architect Windsor Smith the home has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a separate stable block. Paltrow, famed for her eco-friendly ways, even had an entrance hall made with stones recovered from a Peruvian schoolhouse.
Friends say Gwyneth longs to spend more time with her 70-year-old widowed mother Blythe Danner and her director brother Jake as well as friends like godfather Steven Spielberg: ?Gwyneth misses her family terribly and while she has grown to love London and her children have English accents, now is the time to move. The kids have said goodbye to their school friends and they are having a final European holiday before the big move.?

Granted, I had an American public school education and my mother is a public school teacher, so I have a bias about people disrespecting American education out of hand. I?m not saying that the American public school education isn?t broken in some cities, in some counties, or in some states, but I just think it?s wrong and unfair to dismiss the American education system out of hand. But beyond that, it?s not like Gwyneth is going to be sending her kids to public high school in America or England either way ? they?re going to be going to private schools, no matter what. And if she?s interested in having a debate about which country has the best PRIVATE schools? well, then I?ve got nothing. I have no idea. But I would be interested in seeing Moses Martin at Eton with all of the sons of dukes and earls and MPs. That would be interesting.

Gwyneth Paltrow seems to have two new interviews this week, one with Good Housekeeping and one with Cosmo UK. It?s weird to me that Gwyneth is still giving interviews after her total media over-saturation for like three solid months while she promoted her cookbook and Iron Man 3. By the end of those dual publicity tours, I think even the most ardent Goop-supporters were totally over her. But still, Gwyneth doesn?t realize that she loses fans every time she opens her mouth. So let?s just enjoy these new little pearl drops of Goop:
Gwyneth on her best decision to date: ?To marry my husband.?
Best achievement to date: ?My children. I was really lucky to have two healthy children, and I enjoy the process of raising them and watching these amazing human beings start to come out and be themselves.?
Her best Saturday morning would be: ?Sleeping in and then having a really lazy day with the family, cooking, laughing and hanging out.?
Her most treasured meal: ?It was a meal out with my whole family. My dad was still alive and my grandparents were there, and we were visiting my brother who was at university in New Orleans.?

Botox: ?I don’t like Botox. I think on some faces it works, but it’s when you can really see it that it starts to look fake. I think people look at tiny patches of their face and try to fix everything – they’ve lost the plot!”
Guilty pleasures: ”I love Starbucks; I’ll have a cappuccino. My guilty snack in the UK is cheese, and in America, things on buns: A lobster roll and French fries, or a turkey burger with cheese.”

There are lots of ?natural? things that are bad for you, so I don?t understand the argument of ?the sun is natural, natural things are always fine!? I mean, I sort of agree with her about the sun too, but I don?t have a family history of skin cancer either, so I’m not going out there, trying to convince people to follow my lead. But you reach a certain age, and you should be wearing sunscreen and you should stop sunbathing too, but I guess Gwyneth thinks those kind of rules are just for peasants. Plus, Goop needs all of the Vitamin D she can get (for real).

Looking to boost the local economy, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin showed up in North London for a spot of shopping today (July 4).
The always-stylish ?Shakespeare in Love? starlet kept things casual in a black jacket, red top, and jeans while her ?Fix You? hubby carried a monogrammed tote with the initials GPM (Gwyneth Paltrow Martin).
And while she tends to prefer the healthy lifestyle, Gwyn recently confessed that there are a few foods that cause her to compromise her nutritional morals.
''I love Starbucks; I'll have a cappuccino. My guilty snack in the UK is cheese, and in America, things on buns: A lobster roll and French fries, or a turkey burger with cheese.''

I didn?t realize that the Gwyneth Paltrow-Mark Ruffalo movie Thanks For Sharing was about sex addiction. I just saw that little blurb before I watched the trailer ? ?Gwyneth is in a movie about sex addiction!? ? and I was incredibly worried that Gwyneth would be playing a sex addict. Thank God, that?s not the case. Mark Ruffalo is playing a sex addict, as is Pink, Josh Gad and Tim Robbins. Goop plays Mark?s new girlfriend who is dealing with the fact that her new, cute boyfriend is an addict. This is like ?what if ?Shame? was a romantic comedy??
Honestly, it looks like a sort of interesting movie. I kind of feel for Mark Ruffalo because this could have been a lighter role for him but he?s capable of bringing pathos to even a rom-com about sex addicts. Gwyneth in lingerie is? um? I mean, her body looks good. But her nasal voice destroys any sexiness she might have. I imagine that Goop and Ruffalo are friends (they did another movie together more than a decade ago), and she?ll probably claim that she only signed on to the movie because Mark ?begged? her or something. Whatever, Goop.
The real surprise is that Pink (Alecia Moore) seems to be doing solid work as an actress. I like that they paired her with Josh Gad, who is an up-and-coming comedic talent. He writes his own stuff too, but I think he?s just quietly gaining a foothold in Hollywood by taking supporting parts and guest roles and he?s usually pretty funny. His guest spot on New Girl last year was amazing! As for Tim Robbins and Joely Richardson? I could care less about that side of the story. Blah.
So, will you see this movie? Or will you just yell ?GET OFF MY BOYFRIEND? at Gwyneth? Because there she is, bold as can be, making out with our boyfriend Mark Ruffalo.

Here are some photos of Gwyneth Paltrow slumming it with Tracy Anderson at the (clutch your pearls) 2013 Licensing Expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas yesterday. HOW GAUCHE. To mingle with the Las Vegas peasants, Gwyneth wore a blouse with nonsensical boob and armpit ruffles and ill-fitting black pants (what?s with all of the crotch wrinkles, Lady Goop?). Don?t you see? Goop is one of us. She wears terrible boob-ruffle blouses (and no bra, again?) just like us. She deigns to go to somewhere called ?Las Vegas? and she speaks to people who make merely six-figure salaries. She will need an extra-strong juice cleanse to dump out all of the peasant toxins after all of this is over. Poor Gwyneth.
Gwyneth?s appearance at the Licensing Expo was announced months ago ? Gwyneth actually gave the ?keynote? speech, which I have to think came with a nice paycheck, right? Gwyneth had another reason to go to Vegas too, of course. Our Goop, always a multi-tasker. Gwyneth came to Vegas with Tracy Anderson because they are taking their businesses global, or at least that?s the plan. Gwyneth wants Goop to go global ? I guess right now, Goop is merely Western European and American, maybe some Canadian ? and Tracy and Gwyneth are always looking to expand their gym businesses, their ?blow dry bars? and Tracy?s diet and fitness programs, which Gwyneth is invested in. Gwyneth did press while in Vegas, of course, and she spoke about her dreams for Global Goop and where her next steps are (hint: GOOP FOR MEN).
Paltrow talked about the genesis of Goop ? it started as an extension of her sharing recommendations with close friends ? and joked self-deprecatingly, talking about the lesser-known movies she made before hitting it big with ?Shakespeare in Love.? But ultimately, she was there to promote her website and her fitness brand.
?I really want Goop to feel like one friend talking to another,? Paltrow said.
Over the years Goop has established a loyal readership in more than 120 countries. Last year, Paltrow added ecommerce. The site also just launched mobile app city guides of New York, Los Angeles and London.
?Goop really came out of my closest friendships,? Paltrow said.
As for the Tracy Anderson brand, Paltrow partnered with the fitness guru after Anderson got the actress back in shape after having her second child.
?When she was done, not only did I have less ass, but I was ready to kick some as well,? Paltrow said.
Anderson said she works hard not to offer trend exercises but those that will stand the test of time. Her system gives new content every 10 days.
?We?re offering something that?s relevant and real,? Paltrow said. ?That?s what?s made it successful.?
As for the company?s future, the workout brand is continuing its teen series and is getting ready to launch a men?s program.

Many of Beyonce?s fans want to believe that she not-so-secretly hates Kim Kardashian. I believed that at first, but I don?t anymore. I think Kim has managed to finesse and impregnate her way into the Cool Kids Table, which includes Jay-Z, Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow. Beyonce and Kanye West are like siblings, and I think that?s a good way to think of Bey?s relationship with Kim ? they?re like sisters-in-law who are nice to each other on holidays and concert tours. Sometimes they even have fun together. As for Gwyneth ? well, Kim is Tracy Anderson?s client, and by extension, that means Kim is Goop?s client. Goop?s relationship with Kim is business, and since Goop?s business is ?lifestyle? that means she has to be nice to Kim.
Anyway, Beyonce posted a congratulatory message to Kimye on her Tumblr yesterday. She posted the black-and-white image (above ^^) and the message ?Congratulations Kim & Kanye. Enjoy this beautiful moment together.? Do you think Blue Ivy and Knuckle West will be friends growing up? Probably not. But I bet Knuckle will try to hang out with BIC and use BIC for added fame. Generational famewhoring!
Obviously, Kim and Kanye are not going to name their baby girl ?Knuckle? but I was just having fun in the gossip vacuum that is the baby name speculation. I?m a little bit surprised they haven?t announced the name yet, but I?m sure we?ll get it sometime this week. I am not surprised that we haven?t seen a photo yet though ? I really do think Kim will be able to talk Kanye into a photo shoot with People Magazine. It will happen. Believe it.
Incidentally, Kris Jenner is already speaking about her new grandbaby. Kris told HLN, ?We?re all fine; we?re all good? and extremely happy and thrilled for the new baby. She?s doing great and she?s beautiful.?
PS? My new guess for the baby name is ?Kami?. It?s a K name, it?s Armenian, and Kami West sounds very ?Kardashian?.

Here are some new photos of Gwyneth Paltrow in Chicago on Saturday night. She was honored at the Gene Siskel Film Center ? she received the Renaissance Award for?? I guess her film work. I would imagine that she got the award for her body of work, not for her most recent role as Pepper Potts in Iron Man 3.
Gwyneth wore this white Alexander McQueen dress for her honor, and as you can see, it was super-cold in Chicago. My goodness! Do you think Goop just didn?t feel like wearing a bra to her award ceremony? I also have to say, I really do think Gwyneth got implants after she had her kids. She got small, perky implants after breastfeeding, which is okay in Gwyneth?s mind ? she once said in an interview that getting implants after breastfeeding was perfectly acceptable to her. I think that?s what happened. As for the dress, it?s really uneventful. I don?t get why there?s a mock turtleneck? WHY? Don?t tell me Goop is trying to bring mock t-necks into style.
Also, do you remember how Page Six said that Vanity Fair wanted to do a story about Gwyneth and her business dealings, and sources claimed Gwyneth was asking people not to talk to VF? LaineyGossip had more details about that last week ? Lainey?s sources confirmed that VF is definitely working on a story about Goop for the September issue and Gwyneth has refused to speak to them because she thinks VF is ?off-brand? for her. Um? Gwyneth JUST gave an interview to THE DAILY MAIL not two months ago. The Daily Mail is fine but VF is a no-go? Anyway, since VF is doing this without Gwyneth?s approval, the story will probably end up a ?slam piece? about why Gwyneth is so ?polarizing?. I can?t wait.
PS? for the love of Goop, stop with the flat-ironing and the center part. STOP.
