Claire Danes covers the August issue of Vogue, and the Annie Leibovitz photoshoot also includes some (incredibly sexy) photos of Damian Lewis. I love Homeland-themed photoshoots!! Especially when Damian Lewis is all gingery and sullen. The whole shot is rather striking and interesting, and as for fashion? major coat p0rn. I love the brown suede coat Claire is wearing in the car with Damian. The photo of Damian in uniform with Claire draped on him? Does that remind anyone else of Romeo & Juliet? Spending the day at the real Langley: ?When I spent the day at Langley, they were very forthright and said??she switches to a deep man?s voice?? ?You know, we?re always recruiting, and it?s not all that often that we?re rendered in pop culture. We?d like to have some influence on that.? They were just so direct. It was admirable, actually, kind of ironically transparent.?
At the Golden Globes, she was summoned to a room to talk to Bill Clinton. ?Magnetic,? she says. ?A mammoth brain.? It was a whirlwind event. Her newborn son, Cyrus, was upstairs at the Beverly Hilton with her parents, and she was able to go in and out of the action all night. ?I went on the red carpet, went upstairs, fed Cyrus. Went into the ceremony, got the award, went back to feed Cyrus, went out again. . . . Then it was ?Now you meet the president.? ? As a nursing mom, she says, ?I had these new boobs; I?m wearing a big Jessica Rabbit dress, and I?d been living in sweat pants for so long. . . . It was strange. It was dreamy, surrounded by my parents and my husband. It was one of the best nights of my life because of this perfect mash-up.?
Deciding to do Homeland: She was considering two parts in the same weekend, having just auditioned for the role of secretary to Leonardo DiCaprio?s J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood?s 2011 biopic. ?I was like, ?Do I want to play the secretary to the boss man or do I want to be the boss man?? ? She curls up her nose. ?I want to be the boss man.? Finally, there was that other voice telling Danes to take the role. ?I was scared of it, and I thought, OK, right, that means I have to do it.?
The contemporaries she admires: ?I?m so impressed by Jennifer Lawrence and Carey Mulligan,? she says. ?They have this exquisite taste. They are very gifted in their ability to make great choices. I didn?t have that rudder.? It took a while to sift through the movie-star thing and realize she could just do what had drawn her to the industry in the first place. Acting. ?There?s the movie star that plays herself and the movie star like Meryl that has this wonderful, glamorous persona intact and is undone every time she takes on a new character. I think I?m astounded and titillated by that.?

The whole piece is lengthy and I only got about halfway through before I decided to save it for another day. Claire talks a lot about her education, going to Yale, slowly developing a close network of girlfriends, and she also talks a lot about being an out-of-work actress for many years, mostly because she didn?t want to just sign on to roles where she was playing ?the girl?. It?s interesting. Also interesting? From what I?ve read thus far, there are no quotes from Damian. Isn?t that weird?

Here are some photos from last night?s Time Magazine ?100 Most Influential People? Gala in NYC. This is not a fashion event. You can tell because the fashion is AWFUL and because Sen. Rand Paul was there. Sen. Paul is on the list? and Claire Danes is not. Claire was there to honor Lena Dunham, I think? Anyway, Claire wore this Lanvin dress which I had to examine very closely. Maybe it?s just me, but I?ve starting to think that Lanvin really sucks. Much like Erdem, it?s become a really overrated label and this dress is a good example why. Claire can wear all kinds of looks and pull them off ? she?s just got that kind of body and face. But even she can?t pull off this fugness. It?s like they were trying to make a hideous dress and Claire is trying to be avant-garde by wearing it. Her husband looks cute though!
Here?s Lena Dunham in Saint Laurent. This just looks awful on her. I think I?m starting to ?get? what she?s aiming for, style-wise, but I wish she would rethink the look she?s failing to pull off. Instead of going for some twee hipster look, I wish she would aim for ?classic, flattering?. I do think her hair looks sort of cute here though.
Padma Lakshmi in? an optical illusion dress (I can?t find the ID). The dress is bad enough, but her styling just seems meh. What?s with her hair?
Olivia Munn in Michael Kors. I had to do a double-check to make sure Olivia wasn?t included on Time?s Most Influential list. She?s not on the list. Thank God. Her Kors dress is terrible.

I love a good acceptance speech where you learn something new about your favorite show. When Claire Danes won ?Best Female Actor in a TV Series? for Homeland, she dropped a great little detail in her speech: she and Morena Baccarin (who plays Brody?s wife) are tight and Morena cooks dinner for her while they run lines. For some reason, I find that so sweet ? mostly on Morena?s part. Nice lady! As for Claire, she continues her sweep of all of the awards forever and always, even though Damian Lewis and the cast of the Homeland were shut out in their categories. Claire wore this one-armed Givenchy which? I kind of hate. The cut was off, right? The sleeve was poorly done, the leg slit seemed awkward, and Claire just didn?t look comfortable at all. Plus, her makeup was much, much too heavy. It bordered on ghoulish.
Morena Baccarin wore Basil Soda. I really don?t care for it at all ? too much fabric, it weighs her down. I?m starting to worry about her, actually ? she never gets it right for these awards shows, which sucks because I think she?s extraordinarily pretty.
Damian Lewis and ABU NAZIR!!!!!! Actually, the actor?s name is Navid Negahban and the photo of Damian and Navid together is making my life. I was sad that Damian didn?t win, but I was glad that Bryan Cranston finally got something, you know? Damian looked disappointed to lose, but he didn?t seem grumpy about it. No worries ? I?m sure Homeland will dominate the WGA Awards, the DGA Awards and then the Emmys in September!

I?m aware that some people really didn?t like Claire Danes? whole Golden Globes look last night. Like, you were expecting her to do the teenage-princess thing in a soft Calvin Klein look, or you wanted her sleek and minimalist, like she normally does. But if you saw her red carpet interviews, you know. Chica is STRUNG OUT. She only gave birth a month ago, and she has that look of a completely overwhelmed new parent. She probably felt like this was all a very lucid, vivid living nightmare because she?s so sleep-deprived. So I applaud her for changing things up and doing an unexpected (and not unwelcome) look.
Claire wore this red Versace gown that emphasized her new-mom boobs and her postpartum weight loss. Her hair was long and fluffy and all over the place. She didn?t seem ?contained? or ?together?. She was worried about ?leaking? on the red carpet, and she said so to Ryan Seacrest. So? I kind of love her. Head to toe. I think if you take into account how strung out she was, this appearance was a complete and total victory. Her sheer exhaustion made her likeable and interesting, and I like that this wasn?t some super-pulled-together look, because she?s done that so many times before.
Claire won too, as did Damian Lewis. Homeland won Best Drama, meaning that it swept the major categories again, just like at the Emmys last year. Homeland is the new Mad Men (only Homeland gets all of the acting awards too!). I?m including some pics of Damian and his wife Helen, as well as his on-screen wife Morena Baccarin in a particularly hideous Valentino.

Gearing up for an exciting evening of star-studded action, Claire Danes showed up at the 70th Golden Globe Awards earlier tonight (January 13).
The ?My So-Called Life? star showed off her red carpet prowess for the fans and paparazzi as she hobnobbed with fellow famous folks alongside actor hubby Hugh Dancy outside the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Claire is up for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series-Drama award along with Connie Britton, Glenn Close, Michelle Dockery, and Julianna Margulies.
The 2013 Golden Globes promises to be an entertaining affair, thanks to fierce competition in every single category there is.
For instance, the Best Motion Picture- Comedy of Musical nominees include ?The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,? ?Les Miserables,? ?Moonrise Kingdom,? ?Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,? and ?Silver Linings Playbook.?

Claire Danes is the February cover girl for Elle (US). I don?t really understand why she?s gotten a February cover though, unless she?s promoting her award nominations for the awards season. She doesn’t have any movies coming out and Homeland Season 2 ended last month, and Season 3 won?t begin until September or October! So it?s just like Claire got the cover because she just wants to remind people that she?s up for a Golden Globe and a SAG. You can see the Elle slideshow here, and here are some excerpts from the interview:
On her husband Hugh Dancy: “Hugh was just the right partner for me. I got very, very lucky? There’s only so much credit you can take when it just sort of works, you know? And obviously we work hard at maintaining our relationship — that is central to both our lives — but at the same time, it’s just this kind of ease that I can’t really account for.”
Meeting Pres. Obama, who is a huge Homeland fan: “Hugh was like, ‘We have to meet Obama,’ and we walked over before we could think and found ourselves shaking hands with him. Hugh realized that he’d forgotten to actually properly introduce himself, and [President Obama] was like, ‘And you are?’ And Hugh was like, ‘I’m sorry, Mr. President,’” Danes tells ELLE. “I said, ‘I’m Claire Danes,’ and he said, ‘Oh, you’re a fine actress.’ And I said, ‘You’re a fine president!’ And he said, ‘Oh, you’re a finer actress than I am president.’ I didn’t have any retort. Hugh and I went immediately to the bar and had a big shot of vodka.”
On teenagers growing up in Hollywood today: ?When I was younger, I was a little bit more restless, but there weren?t as many eyes. There weren?t as many tabloids or the number of cameras that everyone?s armed with. I feel huge sympathy for teenagers who have suddenly found themselves as public figures now, because it just sucks for them.?
On waiting to have children: ?I?ve always wanted to have kids, but I?m glad I didn?t until now. When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it?I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn?t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I?ve had this arrow-straight focus?that I wanted to act.?

Do you think it?s funny that Pres. Obama had no idea who Hugh was? Poor Hugh! I also think Claire?s comments about stay-at-home moms are kind of pointed, especially given the tabloid rumors that she might leave Homeland now that she?s a mom. It?s like Claire is saying, ?Leave a hit show? Are you cray? I LOVE TO WORK.?
Back to the Obama thing ? POTUS is a big Homeland fan, and I like that he complimented Claire on her (substantial) talent. But I still think Damian Lewis?s story about meeting Pres. Obama at a state dinner was way funnier.

Enjoying a stroll with their newest addition to the family, Claire Danes and her hubby, Hugh Dancy, took baby Cyrus out and about in New York City on Christmas Eve (December 24).
The ?Homeland? actress looked cozy in a fur-trimmed winter jacket, grey hat, and brown boots as she and her man shared a conversation while pushing around their newborn.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the Hollywood couple welcomed their first child, Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy, into the world last week (December 17).
Danes announced she was expecting back in July, and told People magazine that she is eager to ?get to know our new Dancy.?

Aw! Claire Danes has welcomed her first child just one day after the season finale of her hit show, Homeland. Claire and cute English husband Hugh Dancy welcomed a baby boy on Monday, and they just announced it yesterday. Claire?s pregnancy became increasingly obvious during the last part of Homeland?s season 2 ? you could really tell that the directors were shooting around some of Claire?s angles, and her face really looked fuller in the last episodes. Still, I?m kind of surprised that she gave birth so soon! I didn?t think she was due for another month or so.
It will be a very happy holiday for Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy!
The Homeland star, 33, and her actor husband welcomed their first child, son Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy, on Monday, Dec. 17, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
Since confirming her pregnancy in July, Danes has stayed mostly mum on the subject of baby ? including keeping the sex a secret ? but tells PEOPLE in its new year-end double issue that she looks forward to ?getting to know our new Dancy? over the break.
Danes, who won an Emmy in September for her role as bipolar CIA-agent Carrie Matheson on the hit Showtime drama, wed Dancy, 37, in a private ceremony in France in 2009.

I?ve been thinking about the finale of Homeland all week, and I?ve also indulged in some blog-cheating to read some other conspiracy theories, and I?ve found one that I really like ? go here if you want to have your world crushed. I think that conspiracy theory might be The One. I think Brody WAS the bomber after all. I think Carrie got played. AGAIN. And not just her ? Quinn got played too. And that theory means that? Estes was right all along?!!? Also, this isn?t so much a spoiler as just an assessment of the TV awards season ? I think Claire Danes is going to sweep all of the major awards for her work on Season 2? but Damian Lewis might be a harder sell, because of his (maybe purposefully?) uneven performance.

Bringing home a special present to place under the tree this Christmas, Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy welcomed baby boy Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy into the world on Monday (December 17).
The "Homeland" star announced her pregnancy in July and kept things pretty private. However, she did tell PEOPLE that she was looking forward to "getting to know our new Dancy."
Back in 2009, the 33-year-old actress married her British actor husband in a private ceremony in France. Cyrus is the couple's first child.
It's an exciting time for Claire for many reasons. She is also nominated for and Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for her work on Showtime's "Homeland." Though, it may be too soon to leave the little one when the awards take place on January 13th.
