Even though the tabloids spent a lot of ink trying to make Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling into some kind of tabloid-y couple, it never really stuck. Ryan succeeded in taking a step back from the limelight, working on smaller projects and his directorial debut and being out of the country for most of 2013. Meanwhile, Eva has definitely been keeping it more low-key. She hasn?t been getting pap?d on a daily or weekly basis and? it?s not like she works that much or on big projects that get lots of attention. So, in the absence of gossip, did something actually happen between them? As in, are they over?
Superstar couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are taking a break in their relationship after it was decided they were moving too fast, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
The 2 Fast 2 Furious actress and The Notebook hunk haven?t officially split, but, ?there was a realization before Thanksgiving that they took things way too fast and were rushing toward a marriage that neither of them particularly needed,? a source told Radar.
?They?ve decided to take a break to reevaluate their romance.?
Still, according to the source, Gosling, 33, is the one who is undecided, but ?Eva wanted to have his babies.?
The movie beauty, 39, has been Gosling?s girlfriend for more than two years. The source tells Radar that Gosling has been laying low because he?s coming off a flop movie, Only God Forgives, but he has big things planned for 2014, including the release of his directorial effort, How to Catch a Monster, co-starring Mendes.
?The real question is how Eva is going to figure into Ryan?s plans,? the source noted.
As Radar previously reported, sources told the U.K. tabloid Now magazine that Mendes was upset with Gosling early in 2013 when his ex-girlfriend, Rachel McAdams, called him for comfort after her split from Michael Sheen.
?They both know they need some kind of resolution in their relationship before they go out and promote their movie, in which Ryan directed Eva in a very big part,? the source explained. ?At the end of the day they are both so uncertain about their future.?
Still, they might be pulled back together.
?Don?t be surprised if these two resurface together for New Year?s,? the source concluded.
[From Radar]
I?ve seen some stories that were basically like ?Ryan wanted a traditional path, marriage then babies, etc.? And those people were like ?Eva didn?t want to get married but she was all for having Ryan?s baby.? I?m not sure I believe that though. Eva has always seemed kind of anti-marriage, but you would think? hey, she?s with Ryan Gosling, and if Gosling wanted to get married, she probably would have done it. But maybe not. That being said, I don?t believe the Rachel McAdams part of the story.

The lower-grade tabloids (In Touch, The Enquirer, Star) love to talk about all of the drama in Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes? relationship, but it?s rare that Us Weekly or People Magazine have much to say about it. The tabloids have been claiming for months that there?s trouble in Hey Girl paradise, and I think the legit outlets didn?t know what to say because Ryan has been largely MIA from everything for the better part of a year, year and a half. He directed his first movie (How to Catch a Monster) and I guess he?s still in post-production or something. He?s also been in Iceland, I believe, and Eva has been to visit him a few times. But now Us Weekly is saying that something has changed between them:
Back on the market soon? They went public at the Happiest Place on Earth, but after two years as a couple, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are in a decidedly unhappy place, sources tell Us Weekly.
One insider reveals that the duo broke up briefly six months ago and adds that the relationship has remained rocky ever since. “He can be moody, and she’s insecure,” explains a source close to Gosling, 32. “She sees a text from a mystery number and assumes he’s talking to other girls.”
Pals have noticed a shift in the actress, 39, who in July gushed to them about visiting her man in Iceland, where he was working on How to Catch a Monster. Now, “she shuts down anyone who brings up Ryan,” says a friend. “It’s clear something is wrong.”
Though a rep for Mendes denies any trouble, the Gosling source believes the end is near: “I wouldn’t be surprised if they split for good soon.”
[From Us Weekly]
Quite honestly, as much as all the little Hey Girls like to dream that Ryan is the most perfect boyfriend ever, I bet he?s actually a difficult man to get close to. He just seems like he?s really closed off, and maybe he could be sort of controlling or judgmental. Maybe I?m projecting, but it?s just a vibe I get. Now, that being said, I bet Eva isn?t the best relationship person either, although I do think she?s worked extra hard to keep this relationship afloat. I do see it that way ? that she?s the one making all of the concessions just so they can stay together. So, will it last? Eh. Who knows? The only thought I have is that it will be really awkward if they break up before How to Catch a Monster comes out.

Stepping out for some media duties, Eva Mendes stopped by Lucky Magazine's Two-Day East Coast Fashion and Beauty Blog Conference in New York City on Thursday (October 25).
The "We Own The Night" actress looked chic in a black-and-white ensemble with nude heels while posing for a few photos before heading inside.
During her interview in the October 2013 issue of Lucky magazine, Miss Mendes dished about her new clothing line with NY and Company.
"There are days when I don't feel great, but I put on my favorite dress and throw a scarf in my hair, and it makes a difference. Hopefully my line can do that for women," the 39-year-old actress explained.
"Even if you're not feeling your best, let's admit it, the right outfit - it helps. My customer is not a fan of the way tabloids cover celebrity style: 'Who wore it best.' It's disastrous for women's self-esteem," she added.

Classing it up for a business meeting, Eva Mendes stepped out in New York City on Tuesday (October 22).
The "Training Day" star looked pretty in a light salmon blouse, navy blue skirt, and heels as she made her way inside.
Currently, the 39-year-old actress has a new clothing line out with New York & Company, which takes inspiration from thrift shops.
In an interview with The Edit, Eva explained, "I think it comes back to not having the means to buy what you wanted. I've never grown out of being that girl.''

I?m such a fan of The Edit. It?s the best online-magazine launch in a long time. The Edit is net-a-porter.com?s in-house magazine, and they almost always do a beautiful editorial job. This week?s cover girl is Eva Mendes and while the editorial is very striking, it?s giving me a weird vibe. Like, this is Eva?s ?Italian widow? pictorial. The vibe reminds me of The Godfather. Is it just me? And when you have a model like Eva, who is famous for having great hair, I don?t think you should give her this crazy bouffant thing. Anyway, you can read Eva?s full Edit profile here, and here are some highlights:
Her early days in Hollywood: ?At the beginning it was tricky ? I had to choose between paying the rent sometimes and having artistic integrity. [But] I?ve always worked with great people,? she adds diplomatically. ?I like taking advantage of my range.?
The Place Beyond the Pines: ?It was the first time I felt like I?d played a real person. When I saw the film, I thought, ?Oh my God, that?s a real woman with real struggles and torture behind her eyes’. That was big for me.?
She brought Ryan Gosling?s dog to the interview: A sign that their relationship may still be going strong can be found at the actress? feet: two sleeping dogs she calls ?my loves?, her regal Belgian Malinois, Hugo, and Gosling?s hulking mutt, George.
She wants to work with Almodovar: Working with Pedro Almodvar is next on her wish list ? she emailed the director to tell him so. ?I?d love to work with Penlope Cruz on an Almodvar film,? she says. ?Penlope?s kind of the greatest.? The director has yet to bite, but Mendes says, ?I believe in planting seeds. If you genuinely love somebody?s work, I think you should tell them.?
Her side-project with New York & Company: ?I?m particular about who I lend my name to,? she says. Before agreeing to it, she consulted her mother and sisters: ?Everybody was like, ?This is amazing!?? It will appeal to fans of Mendes? retro-chic style. ?It?s directly inspired by my closet,? says the actress, who loves body-flattering, vintage-print dresses. But she often makes a beeline for Goodwill stores. ?I think it comes back to not having the means to buy what you wanted. I?ve never grown out of being that girl.?
Fashion rules: ?If you go short, no cleavage or anything super-fitted; if you?re covered from head to toe, you can go as fitted as you like.?
She doesn?t want to talk about Gosling: Mendes reveals that shooting has wrapped on How to Catch a Monster and that it was ?an incredible experience?, but that?s all she?ll say. ?I?m not trying to be cagey or protective,? she insists. ?But when I go through something that has such an impact on me, it?s tough for me to articulate.? When I broach the Mendes/Gosling relationship, she winces. ?I?m sorry. I?m shutting down,? she says, half apologetically. ?I?m such a weirdo. I literally lose my ability to speak ? and you were doing so well,? she adds.
Her protective bubble: I recount a recent report that she has told Gosling she wants to be married by the time she turns 40 and start a family. ?Oh, is that what they?re saying?? she replies, arching one of her eyebrows before explaining that gossip, like red meat, is not part of her diet. ?I live in a very protective kind of bubble that I?ve created for myself,? Mendes says. She shifts her gaze to Hugo, still sleeping at her feet. ?You know, he?s an attack dog,? she adds with a smile.
[From The Edit]
So basically when a journalist asks about Ryan Gosling, Eva coyly hints that she?ll sic her attack dog on the reporter? Classy. Why not a simple ?no comment?? It?s not that difficult. That?s my problem with so many of these ladies ? they work so hard to not even get the personal questions and it?s like they don?t even realize how easily they could deflect the personal questions themselves. Besides that, it?s not like Eva hates that we?re talking about her relationship with Gosling. Dating Ryan Gosling is the best career move she?s made in a long time! She wanted us to see photos of the two of them together. But it?s all a game. Blah. As for the Almodovar stuff ? she really reminded of Jessica Biel there. So much hustle and so little acting chops to back it up.

Did you know that Eva Mendes has a new clothing line with New York & Company? The line is called Eva Mendes Exclusively, and these are some photos from the launch on Wednesday. I?ll admit it, back when I worked in an office (before the halcyon days of blogging in sweatpants and flip-flops), I wore a lot of New York & Company stuff. It?s affordable, some of the stuff is cute, and it?s decently made for the price. I still have several pairs of pants from NY & Co. that I wear often enough. So, Eva was in New York to promote her new clothing line, and she gave an interview to HuffPo about the line and about some of her beauty tips. I know you guys love talking about makeup, hair and beauty products, so this is the motherlode:
HuffPo: Why did you decide to do a collection with New York & Co.?
Eva: When New York & Co. came to me with this amazing opportunity, I jumped at the chance. I love that New York & Co. makes well-made and fashionable clothes, accessible to women. They’re about accessibility not exclusivity, and I found that very exciting. It also sounded like it would be blast. I’ve always had a hunch that designers were having all the fun… and it turns out, I was right!
What was the most challenging aspect of creating your own collection?
The challenging part of this process was knowing that I had women, especially my sisters, counting on me to make them look good. I take this very seriously. There isn’t a piece in my collection that I won’t wear. I can’t wait to get feedback from women about what works for them and what doesn’t. I hope I don’t disappoint them!
Do you have any advice for aspiring designers?
Advice to aspiring designers? I have no idea! Let’s see if I survive my first season and then ask me!
We have to ask you about that amazing hair of yours! It always looks so thick and healthy, what’s your secret? Do you have any DIY hair care recipes you use?
Pantene! I like to condition my hair overnight. You can use any Pantene conditioner but I prefer the Breakage to Strength. Put it all over your hair before you go to sleep and leave it in a shower cap until morning. Then rinse and voil. Warning: although your hair will be grateful, the shower cap look isn’t the sexiest, so maybe do it on a night when he’s not around. [Ed. note: Especially when "he" is Ryan Gosling.]
What’s the bare minimum makeup look that you need to step outside of the house?
I don’t like much make up for my everyday look. I usually use Dr. Perricone No Foundation Foundation, Edward Bess bronze powder and Dr. Hauschka lip moisturizer. That’s about it unless I’m going out to an event.
Do you have a favorite cheap beauty product?
My favorite cheap beauty product is baby powder. I use it on my hair to give it a dry tousled look. It works magic. Better than any dry shampoo out there. Once you put a little bit on your roots and run it through your hair, make sure to shake it out so your hair doesn’t look white! Another great inexpensive product is St. Ives Apricot Scrub for the body. I use it as a dry scrub with a loofah, then I rinse. It works great for me.
What is the best beauty secret that you’ve learned over the years?
The best beauty secret I’ve learned over the years is that there’s no secret! Makeup artists can only do so much. If you?re not well-rested and well-nourished, it will show on your face. So drink lots of water and eat well? and ditch the cigarettes! Oh and use blotting papers instead of powder!
Do you ever see a paparazzi or red carpet photo of yourself and think “Darn that was a bad outfit?”
Of course I see photos of myself I don’t like. I can take a very odd picture! But I’ve learned to laugh at the bad ones. I’m the first one to make fun of myself. Like my look for my “Ghost Rider” premiere in NY. What was I thinking?! Or this white and black Prabal Gurung dress I wore a few years ago. I love the designer but the dress didn’t fit me well. An ill-fitting dress and my idea to have the frizzy hair resulted in a bad combo-platter.
What is one trend that you would never be caught dead wearing?
Jelly Bean shoes. I don’t think I can wear those again. Actually, I know I can’t.
[From HuffPo]
You know what I like about this? She actually name-drops labels that can be bought at CVS or a grocery store. It really does feel like Eva actually does use the inexpensive stuff like Pantene, no-name baby powder and St. Ives Apricot Scrub. And OMG I never would have even thought about using St. Ives Scrub as a dry scrub?! When I last admitted that I occasionally use St. Ives Apricot Scrub, some of you yelled at me and told me that it?s too abrasive and it?s actually bad for your skin. Now I can say ?Well, Eva Mendes uses it!?
But? I do hate when some women suggest using baby powder in your hair. I could never do that. My hair get oily very quickly, and while the baby powder will soak it up, my hair is dark and I don?t want to look like I?m wearing a powdered wig. Isn?t it just easier for me to wash my hair every day? Because that?s exactly what I?m doing. And I use Pantene too (although I have a lot of shampoos going all at once.) Full disclosure: Eva is the official hair of Pantene, correct? She?s had a Pantene contract for a while.

HuffPo teased this “unexpected” secret from Eva Mendes which was about something she wouldn’t do in front of Ryan Gosling. Of course I clicked on it because my first guess was poop. It’s gotta be poop. It’s always poop. I had to make sure it was poop.
Turns out it wasn’t. It was just an interview about getting the perfect hair. Nothing at all to do with poop. God dammit.
We have to ask you about that amazing hair of yours! It always looks so thick and healthy, what’s your secret? Do you have any DIY hair care recipes you use?

She won’t wear a shower cap in front of Ryan Gosling. So just to be clear. It’s not poop? Can we… can we make this a story about poop somehow? Help me out here.

| Eva Mendes doesn't like 'body conscious' clothes: 'I prefer a demure look' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Eva Mendes has kept a pretty low profile lately, but she covers the October issue of Lucky magazine. While her aggressively arched eyebrows usually drive me crazy, she looks quite beautiful in this shoot. The clothes are also pretty cool with the exception of the cover. That jacket looks so plasticky and not comfortable at all, but the other outfits are totally things that I would wear.
The interview is kind of weird though because Eva is playing the innocent card when it comes to her own fashion sense. She alludes to her own fashion line, which is supposed to launch sometime this fall, but she’s playing it coy by claiming not to like form-fitting, sexy clothing. That’s a strange assertion from a woman who tries so hard to be sexy that she once claimed to have had sex in all 50 states. Eva also sort of explains that bizarro quasi turban from last year:
She’s so method: “I’ll do anything for a role! For A Place Beyond the Pines, I exercised a lot. I wanted my character to feel really depleted. My mom didn’t understand why I would want to look that way. She’s constantly telling me I’m too skinny!”
Her mom loves to keep tabs: “The way my mother keeps track of me is looking me up. I say, ‘Please, Mother, don’t Google me!’”
No dishing on the Gosling: “You can ask about my boyfriend. I just won’t answer.”
About that turban: “There are days when I don’t feel great, but I put on my favorite dress and throw a scarf in my hair, and it makes all the difference. Hopefully my line can do that for women. Even if you’re not feeling your best, let’s admit it, the right outfit–it helps.”
On her style: “Every time I wear something body-conscious, I regret it. I feel better in a demure look.”
[From Lucky mag]
Do you buy that Eva feels entirely uncomfortable in body-conscious clothing? I guess I believe her because while she wears a lot of form-fitting stuff on the red carpet, most of her casual street wear includes sweaters and pants. All the same, she is the type to wander around naked in her own home almost all the time, so maybe her “demure” self-description is merely an act.

| Eva Mendes, 39, 'told Ryan Gosling that she wants to be engaged by 40' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Yesterday, LaineyGossip had a good ?Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are still together? update ? go here to see. Apparently, Ryan has wrapped on his directorial debut, How To Catch a Monster, and Eva and Ryan are still hanging out in Detroit (where the movie was filmed), and some fans got some sneaky photos of them together. So, Ryan and Eva have been together for two years, which is a lot longer than I thought it would last. I also didn?t expect them to spend the last year together, with so little drama. There have been no pregnancy announcement, no engagement announcements, no elopements, no major fights (that were made public), no drama for the haters to cling to. It?s almost like they?re a solid couple in a serious relationship, and like they?re taking their time. WTH? Well, the tabloids keep trying to make something happen, so this week Star Mag says that Eva gave Ryan an engagement ?ultimatum? but that he was already planning on proposing anyway.
Ryan Gosling may be busy directing How to Catch a Monster, but his girlfriend Eva Mendes is busy playing How To Catch a Husband! Since giving Ryan, 32, an ultimatum shortly after her 39th birthday in March, Eva could finally get her wish.
?Eva told Ryan that she wants to be engaged by the time she?s 40,? dishes a close pal. ?But Ryan was already planning a proposal. He?s been in secret talks with ring designer Neil Lane.?
And while Eva was making commitment demands, Ryan planned a romantic getaway for the two once their film wraps.
?Ryan tricked her into believing the trip is to celebrate the movie,? continues the source. ?Eva is completely clueless.?
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
Completely clueless? unless she reads Star! Completely clueless? unless she was the one to leak this story. Whether or not any part of this story is true, I have no idea. But what I?d like to talk about is the ?plan? or the ?ultimatum?. I really am curious ? does this kind of ultimatum work on men? Because I think that for most women, this kind of ultimatum would backfire. It would only work on a man if he already adored you and wanted to marry you and just needed that final ?push?. And even then, I don?t think those men would appreciate an engagement ultimatum.

| Jennifer Lopez scores a plum role in Chilean miner film: will she do it justice? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|

|
|
|
Does it seem like it’s been over two-and-a-half years since the dramatic rescue of the 33 Chilean miners from a San Jose mine after they were trapped for 69 days? Time really does fly, and I still freshly recall watching the live feed of all of the miners emerging, one at a time, from the bowels of the Earth to feel fresh air on their faces and find themselves ensconced within the arms of Chilean President Sebastian Pinera. From the very beginning of the end of the day-long rescue, there have been buzzings of this tale being brought to life on the big screen. Now that day has arrived (or at least, the pre-production phase is happening), and Jennifer Lopez has been tapped as part of the ensemble cast.
Last week, Lopez revealed that she was circling a small indie flick, and now it’s emerged that she has signed on to appear in The 33, which will tell the (supposedly) true story of what happened during the more than two months that these miners were trapped. What role will JLo play in the movie? IMDb provides no clues, but it can’t be a huge role. Maybe she plays one of the miners’ wives … or maybe one of the mistresses. There was also a nurse who spoke to many of the miners while they were trapped, and she said she got hit on a lot. That seems like a decent role for JLo, but I question whether she has the gravitas to treat this subject matter with dignity. Here’s a bit of good news though — Antonio Banderas is starring in the movie:
Jennifer Lopez has signed on to join Antonio Banderas in the Chilean miner film The 33.
Mike Medavoy is producing the drama, based on the true story of the 33 Chilean miners who were rescued after being trapped for 69 days in 2010.
The film will mark Lopez’s first big-screen role since starring opposite Jason Statham in this year’s action-thriller Parker.
Martin Sheen and Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro also have boarded the ensemble film, which was presented to foreign buyers at last month?s Cannes Film Festival. Good Universe is handling international sales.
Patricia Riggen (La Misma Luna) is directing from a screenplay written by Mikko Alanne and Jose Rivera, with production scheduled to begin in the fall in Chile.
In 2011, Medavoy nabbed the rights to the 33 miners, whose remarkable rescue from the San Jose Mine garnered headlines worldwide. The men were trapped half a mile beneath the Earth?s surface. Banderas is playing the role of Mario Sepulveda, the charismatic miner nicknamed “Super Mario.” Sheen will play a miner’s father, while Santoro is tackling the role of a trapped miner.
[From Hollywood Reporter]
Mmm, Rodrigo Santoro. Dude does have a nice booty (as did Antonio in his Original Sin days), and this film will surely have plenty of eye candy because you know they’ll handsome-up the miners a great deal, but I still can’t get over the casting of Jennifer Lopez in this movie. Surely, there are plenty of other Latina actresses (albeit unknown ones) with a lot more acting cred than JLo, but it could’ve been worse … say, if Eva Mendes were cast. Still, it really sounds like JLo signed onto this film to try and rebuild her acting career, which hasn’t been worth anything more than cheesy romcoms since the days of U Turn and Out of Sight. I wish her luck, but JLo would be better off releasing mediocture dance club tunes than attempting to be a “serious” actress on the backs of these miners.
