All prettied up for an important evening, Katie Holmes trekked from her New York City apartment to the Hammerstein Ballroom for the 56th annual Drama Desk Awards on Monday (May 23).
The former "Dawson's Creek" star looked stunning in a shiny purple gown as she tended to the arrivals press area before heading inside to ready for the annual ceremony honoring the best in theatre to get underway.
As for her appearance, Miss Holmes is among the celebrity presenters while joining fellow trophy passer-outers including Daniel Radcliffe, Ellen Barkin and David Hyde Pierce.
Making for quite the hectic day, Katie flew into NYC earlier in the day via helicopter after having been visiting her husband Tom Cruise as he works in Miami, Florida.

These are some new photos of Katie Holmes at an event called ?Beauty Culture? - I think it was a photography exhibit. The guests included Halle Berry, Dita Von Teese, and tons of Scientology people, so take that however you want. I?m just going to be covering Katie Holmes?s appearance. Now? I?ve been yelled at before when I?ve criticized Katie for not dressing for her body. Most normal women understand their body faults and figure out ways to minimize their perceived faults and accentuate their positives. Katie never learned. She consistently wears styles that emphasize the wrong features. Plus, she?s just one of those chicks who makes expensive clothes look cheap. I can?t even begin to describe how this above-the-knee skirt and chunky booties were not the right choice for Katie?s legs. It should be a crime to do this to yourself. When are women going to realize this? If you have anything other than super-slim, toned legs, these booties will make your legs look TERRIBLE.
I do think Katie?s hair looks pretty. Over the weekend, I dyed my hair for the first time (ever), and it ended up a similar color to Katie?s. She also looks like she got some sun (probably from sitting by the pool all day with her daughter), which works on her. Should I talk about the clothes? They?re awful and ill-fitting. She has no taste.
By the way, as I looking through photos of Katie, I found this one of she and Tom at the taping of Oprah?s farewell show extravaganza. This is the face of contract renegotiations.

Katie Holmes modified her grandma’s one-piece for an updated look and headed down to her hotel pool in Miami, Florida to teach Suri how to swim. These pictures sucked. Especially with that big sun hat on top of her head. Even Suri looked sexier than her. Wait… That came out wrong.

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise are in Miami for some reason. And they got pap?d all over the place yesterday, first in the hotel pool and then on an ice cream run. At one point, the paps got some photos of Suri adjusting her little bikini, and they got a shot of Suri?s butt crack. I didn?t want to use those photos, just because it seemed? gross. Presumably grown men, hiding in some hotel bushes, snapping pics of a little girl in a swimsuit. It?s gross. But the photos are still notable I guess because Suri looks like she?s a solid little swimmer, and because Katie doesn?t seem to have a baby bump hidden in her (odd) swimsuit. I like that Katie?s wearing a one-piece, by the way. Bring back the cute one piece! When I look at Katie?s one-piece, though, all I can think about are how weird her tan lines must be.
And here are the ice cream photos. Suri loves her ice cream. The thought that struck me was: this is Suri?s life. Swimming with her mom in the middle of the day in a hotel pool, eating ice cream (presumably) for a meal. All on a weekday. Because God knows, a five year old child doesn?t belong in school, right? And before you start yelling at me about all of the celebrity children who aren?t going to school - all of them have tutors, I?m pretty sure. Except for Ali Lohan. That?s something Ali and Suri seem to have in common - their parents don?t put a high premium on education. Does Suri have a tutor? I?m sure she has ?handlers? and ?wranglers? but you never hear much about her education, do you? You can see more photos of Katie and Suri?s special day here.

Treating themselves to a little ladies' pool time, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise spent their Monday afternoon (May 16) taking a dip and lounging in the warm Miami sun.
The two adorable Cruise gals both dressed in colorful one-piece suits as Katie loaded a disgruntled-appearing Suri up with suntan lotion before the two eased into the refreshing waters, wiping away the scowl previously adorning the 5-year-old's face.
The pool outing comes just days after Miss Holmes' rep spoke out to quell claims that the actress is pregnant - with the rumors spurning from photos in which she appeared to have a bit bigger belly than usual.
Of the matter, spokesperson Ina Treciokas said,"She's not pregnant and this photo looks doctored."

These are some new photos of Katie Holmes looking kind of haggard and bumpy. Note the close-up on Katie?s little stomach bump - the photo agency is trying to make it into a ?Is she pregnant?? thing. I?ve been wrong so many times about Katie?s bump, and at this point, I think she?s just got a little belly and bad posture - her slump emphasizes the tiny amount of extra weight she carries in her abdomen. It?s not a crime, and I do have a little bit of sympathy for her because people are always yelling about how she?s pregnant whenever she wears anything that shows off her stomach.
Still, there are questions as to whether Katie will ever have another baby. A few years ago, I would have said ?Of course she will.? I thought Katie was like a royal bride - and her contractual obligations were for an heir and a spare. Of course, I would have had questions about the conception, which in mind would involve electrodes, tequila, several tin can audits, a turkey baster and the soundtrack to Rosemary?s Baby. But I thought it would happen, at some point. Now I?m wondering if Katie even cares about the contract. In an interview from a few days ago, she seemed to hint at the idea that she?s totally over the idea of getting pregnant again. She said:
?[Connor and Isabella] are great kids, a great brother and a great sister to Suri, and she’s a great sister to them. It’s not, “This is stepmotherhood and this is motherhood”. I’m not worried about it (having another baby). She’s got really good friends and great cousins, so I feel happy about it. We have a really busy household, and it’s really fun and fulfilling. There’s always something going on.?

It sounds like she?s over it, right? Yeah. I have to admit, that?s cool with me. I know some people get judgy about only children (although it?s clear that Katie considers Isabella and Connor full siblings to Suri). But I?m an only child, and I identify with Suri a little bit. That?s the thing about only children - even when we?re little kids, we?re way more comfortable with adults. And it?s fine. Suri will be okay (no she won?t, she?s a hot mess, but whatever).

Closing out the week with a bout of retail therapy, Katie Holmes was busy checking out the offerings at Barneys in Beverly Hills on Friday (May 6).
Clad in a form fitting tank top paired with snug jeans and black flats, the former "Dawson's Creek" darling looked focused as she combed through the shoe selections in search of the perfect footwear to add to her collection.
And while the new pics have already kickstarted baby bump rumors, Katie recently spoke about not having any plans to expand the family.
She told The Times of daughter Suri and Tom's adopted children, Connor and Isabella, "They're great kids, a great brother and a great sister to Suri, and she's a great sister to them."
Of her role, Mrs Tom Cruise said, "This is stepmotherhood and this is motherhood. I'm not worried about it [having a new sibling for Suri]. She's got really good friends and great cousins, so I feel happy about it. We have a really busy household, and it's really fun and fulfilling. There's always something going on."

Stepping out for a swanky affair, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were spotted at the Simon Wiesenthal Center?s Annual National Tribute Dinner last night (May 5).
The ?Minority Report? stud and his ?Mad Money? babe looked to be in good spirits as they mingled with fellow guests at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
In a recent interview, Katie revealed that while she loves her and Tom?s kids, she?s not really planning on adding to their number.
Holmes stated, ?I'm not worried about it [having a new sibling for Suri]. She's got really good friends and great cousins, so I feel happy about it. We have a really busy household, and it's really fun and fulfilling. There's always something going on.?

Getting a jump start to her day, Katie Holmes was spotted leaving her gym in Beverly Hills, CA on Friday (April 29).
The ?Romantics? beauty looked cute in workout attire as she carefully crossed the street and hit up a Le Pain Quotidien for a pastry and coffee drink.
Earlier in the week, Star Magazine issued an official public apology to Mrs Tom Cruise for reporting that she was addicted to drugs.
The actress, who accepted the apology, was so upset over the accusation that she filed a $50 million lawsuit against Star, which has now been settled.

Back in January, Star Magazine ran a front page cover story (image below) suggesting that Katie Holmes was a drug addict. The inside story (detailed here if you’re interested) was about how the auditing sessions in Katie and Tom’s Scientology cult could be addicting like drugs. The real details of Scientology’s scary brainwashing practices are more shocking than a drug addiction, but I understand Star going for a bait and switch cover with a more accessible angle. The cult stuff has been covered quite a bit before.
Well “Katie” aka the Sci Goons, sued Star Magazine for $50 million for libel as a result. That was back in early March. Since then, Star canned their editor and it doesn’t seem like a coincidence. Star has now issued a front page apology for insinuating that Katie was addicted to drugs and they’re giving an undisclosed donation to a charity of her choice. I was assuming Katie’s charity would be Scientology-related, but according to Reuters it’s the “Dizzy Feet Foundation,” which Katie co-founded and helps give dance classes to underprivileged youth.
Star Magazine just issued a MASSIVE mea culpa to Katie Holmes — publishing an apology on the COVER of its latest issue … after the tabloid printed a headline suggesting Katie was a drug addict.
Katie filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against the magazine last month, claiming Star’s January headline — “ADDICTION NIGHTMARE! Katie DRUG SHOCKER! — was “untrue, unethical and unlawful.”
Katie’s rep tells TMZ, the lawsuit is now water under the bridge … that it’s been settled … and Star’s publisher American Media even made a “substantial” donation to Katie’s charity.
As for Star’s in-mag apology — it reads in part, ?Star did not intend to suggest that Ms. Holmes was a drug addict or was undergoing treatment for a drug addiction. Star apologizes to Ms. Holmes for any misperception …”
Katie released her own statement today, saying, ?I?m pleased that this lawsuit could be resolved amicably and accept American Media?s apology.?

At least the money is going to decent charity. Maybe Star will clean up its act a little under Radar Online editor David Perel, who is taking over for former editor Candace Trunzo. I hope they stay trashy but get a little more truthful.
