The ninth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise just came out last week. FATF9 has managed to bring in $70 million so far. I am sure if we werent in a pandemic, that number would be much higher. Vin Diesel appeared on the Kelly Clarkson show last week. Kelly asked Vin if he would do a FATF musical if the opportunity presented itself. Here is where things got interesting, Vin said he would, because he has always wanted to be in a musical. Vin also said that he was almost cast in Steven Spielbergs Guys and Doll reboot. Below are a few more highlights via People:
When host Kelly Clarkson, 39, asked him if hed ever do a musical of the franchise, the actor said, Im dying to do a musical, so yes, I would!
Ive been dying to do a musical my whole life, he continued, revealing he was this close to doing Guys and Dolls with Steven Spielberg, but we ended up not doing that.
He added, For the longest time, I thought the Nathan Detroit role in Guys and Dolls would be a very interesting one to revamp, the one that Frank Sinatra played in Guys and Dolls.
Diesel said he credits his family with his love for the arts, including musicals.
My family is artistic, and Im blessed to have that and Im blessed to be in a family that is supportive of these crazy dreams, he said. I would encourage everyone to support the people who want to think outside the box and dream something impossible because theres great beauty in that.

I find the fact that Vin Diesel was almost in Spielbergs Guys and Dolls fascinating because I do not think Vin has a lot of range. In fact, I was dragging him last week on Twitter because because Vincent explained that his years-long feud with Dwayne The Rock Johnson was due to him giving Dwayne tough love to make Dwayne step up his acting game. The absolute cheek of Vin one emotion Diesel for saying such a thing. We already know that Keanu Reeves has more acting range, but can Vin Diesel sing? Its doubtful, but theres always autotune.
Now that I am done dragging Vinnie, I am not sure if I like the idea of the FATF franchise being turned into a musical unless it has a Grease feel to it. That is the only way I can see a FATF musical working. There will need to be a whole bunch of greasy haired tough guys in leather singing about their cars. It could happen, musicals are seeing a resurgence. As one of the producers of the franchise, I am sure Vin will have some sway in making his dream of a FATF musical a reality. In the meantime, I hope Vin gets some voice lessons to prepare.

Vin Diesel will be starring in the ninth installment of the Fast & the Furious franchise, which is out on June 25. Variety just also announced that Vin will be producing and starring in a movie based on Rock Em Sock Em Robots, the popular Mattel tabletop game. Although the announcement was met with enthusiasm from Vins fans, some folks were less than enthused. Several people on Twitter [via Just Jared] felt that the Rock Em Sock Em movie was too similar to the 2011 Hugh Jackman movie, Real Steel. Below are more details about the deal from Variety:
The company?s film division has announced plans to develop Rock ?Em Sock ?Em, the tabletop game featuring battling robots, as a live-action movie starring Vin Diesel.
?To take the classic Rock ?Em Sock ?Em game, with Mattel as my partner, and align it with the kind of world-building, franchise-making success we have had with Universal, is truly exciting,? said Diesel, whose production company One Race Films is working on the project with Universal Pictures.
Mattel has several film adaptations in the works, some more curious than others. The growing list of properties in development include ?Wishbone,? based on the ?90s TV show about the well-read Jack Russell terrier; ?Barbie? starring Margot Robbie and written by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach; and ?Uno,? a heist comedy centered on the card game led by rapper Lil Yachty. The company is also making a live-action ?Barney? movie with Daniel Kaluuya, a character the Oscar-nominated actor has labeled ?misunderstood.?

I am starting to feel old because I had no idea that the game was called Rock Em Sock Em Robots. When I saw this announcement, I was like what is this? So I Googled it. I didnt know that Vin also had a production company. For some reason learning that made me giddy. I am not the biggest fan of Vins but I have always enjoyed the movies hes been in and I love his raspy sexy voice. Honestly, it was Paul Walkers pretty mug that brought me to the Fast and Furious franchise. With this movie, it sounds like Mattel is seriously entering the movie business and I am not sure how I feel about it. Mattel is also developing an Uno (love) and Barbie (meh) movie as well. Perhaps these nostalgic Mattel figures will be great for those who grew up in the 70s and 80s that now have children that they wish to share their childhood with but it isnt my scene. However, since I am a faux auntie to several of my friends rug rats I may end up watching one if not all of these movies sometime in the future. As far as Rock Em Sock Em mimicking Hugh Jackmans movie Real Steel, I wouldnt know because I have never heard of that movie before today. Its all new to me. Anyways, Im gonna go re-watch the new Fast & Furious trailer because my girl Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) is in it and Sung Kangs fine self is back.

I usually don?t cover Vin Diesel stories, but that?s not by any particular design. I just don?t have strong feelings about him one way or the other. I don?t find him particularly attractive (nor does he repel me, honestly) and I don?t find him particularly watchable in films either. But he?s carved out a profitable and successful niche with the Fast & Furious films, plus now he?s down with Marvel too. He?s pretty harmless as a person, and I even got a little verklempt when he named his daughter ?Pauline? after his dear friend Paul Walker.
But? can anyone really say that Vin Diesel is, like, a brilliant dude? No. We can?t. Can we say that he?s doing award-worthy work in award-worthy films? No. I always thought he was fine with that. He has his niche, he?s making money, he has a big and loyal fanbase, and he?s living the dream. But no. Apparently, Vin Diesel thinks that Furious 7 is going to win the Best Picture Oscar at the 2016 Oscars. Seriously.
Universal?s ?Furious 7? is expected to set box office records when it opens on April 3, with fans eager to flock to multiplexes to bid farewell to Paul Walker. But the film?s star and producer, Vin Diesel, predicts that ?Furious 7?s? success won?t be limited to the number of tickets it sells. He says the film will also sweep a certain 2016 awards ceremony.
?Universal is going to have the biggest movie in history with this movie,? Diesel said in a lengthy interview with Variety for this week?s cover story. ?It will probably win best picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don?t want to be relevant ever.? Diesel took a breath, before offering his prediction for a second time. ?This will win best picture,? Diesel said. ?There is nothing that will ever come close to the power of this thing.?

When Variety humored Vin?s suggestion/prediction and offered up this possibility as a solution to the growing discontent with the current Oscar structure, this is what happened: ??when told about the prediction, a Universal executive chuckled and then asked to go off the record.?
As for Vin?s veiled threat ? ?It will probably win best picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don?t want to be relevant ever? ? that sounds SO Kanye West, right? Kanye would totally say something like that. Imma let you finish, Citizen Kane, but Furious 7 WAS THE BEST FILM OF ALL TIME. Citizen Kane doesn?t respect real artistry, like Furious 7. Orson Welles needs to give his Oscar to Vin Diesel, yo.
Anyhoodle, Furious 7 will get some technical nominations, maybe special effects or sound editing and stuff like that. But no. Furious 7 is not going to win Best Picture. It?s not even going to be nominated for Best Picture.

Remembering all that was lost in the year 2013, Vin Diesel paid tribute to his late friend, Paul Walker in a Facebook post.
The "Fast and Furious" actor posted a recent picture of the pair on Twitter, writing, "There was always moments of child-like laughter...We had accomplished so much by 2013... Rest in peace my friend..."
Beginning his Facebook post, the 46-year-old wrote, "The last scene we filmed together?There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared? in the film we were now completing? the magic captured? and, in just how far we've come? Fast and Furious 7 will be released?April 10th 2015!"
Concluding the sentiment, Vin also wrote, "P.s. He'd want you to know first." Attending a memorial service for Walker in Valencia, he also stated, "At this hard time his family gets to see all of you show the love that you've shown Paul. It's going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him."

These are photos of Vin Diesel at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony yesterday, and you know this means one thing and one thing only: Universal must be at least a little bit nervous about Riddick. They really needn’t worry though, right? Vin’s star power is riding high after so many consecutive Fast and Furious movies, although it’s been nearly a decade since Chronicles of Riddick proved to be a moderate success.
Really though, I wanted to write about these photos because Vin showed up with his long-term girlfriend, Paloma Jimenez, and their two adorable children, Hania Riley and a son whose name has (to my knowledge) yet to be revealed. This little boy is so cute, and I absolutely love his hair. Hey, you never know — this could be the texture of Vin’s real hair. I’ve seen Vin with some cruelly Photoshopped hair before, but has anyone seen him with anything other than stubble or a completely clean shaven look?
At any rate, I’ve always found Vin to be pretty damn sexy even though he doesn’t always look good to me. In fact, I find him to be ridiculously pumped-up at times to the point where it’s like he’s trying to prove something, but then he opens his mouth, and that gravelly voice wins me over completely. It’s like the opposite of David Beckham’s sex appeal, you know? Oh, and look who showed up to support her frequent co-star … the very gorgeous Michelle Rodriguez. Vin and Michelle supposedly dated in 2001, and they seem to be great friends now.

Hoping their sequel conquers the Asian markets, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez attended the "Fast & Furious 6" premiere in Seoul, South Korea on Monday (May 13).
The beefy action star wore a dark T-shirt, black pants, and black boots as his sexy costar chose a form-fitting sleeveless white and black dress while they posed on the red carpet.
In the sixth installment of the high-octane series, Agent Luke Hobbs enlists Dominic Toretto and his team to bring down former Special Ops soldier Owen Shaw, leader of a unit specializing in vehicular warfare.
Joining the pair in the action flick are Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, Luke Evans, Jordana Brewster, and Elsa Pataky. "Fast & Furious 6" hits theaters in the U.S. on May 24th.

Vin Diesel must have been high as a kite because he told the LA Times that he wouldn’t be surprised if there was Oscar buzz around Fast Five. Please stop laughing. Vin Diesel didn’t seem to be joking.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some Oscar talk around this. I don’t know, maybe I’m just biting off what some guy from Channel 7 thought,” he said with a chuckle. “But sooner or later, people are gonna say, ‘Wait a minute, just because they are for the working class doesn’t mean they’re not great.’”
You know who would be surprised if there was Oscar talk around this? Everybody else in the world. Even Paul Walker told Vin Diesel to put the crack pipe down. Of course, he didn’t say it in those exact words. He probably put it much more eloquently like, “Bro, put the crack pipe down, bro. Bro!”

First of all, I’d like to apologize that we didn’t have a Hot Guy Friday this week. Both Kaiser and I are burnt out doing it every week, and while it is a nice stress reliever on one side, on the other it takes hours to do that post. You’d be surprised how much effort it is, and Kaiser does the bulk of it and doesn’t complain. This was basically my idea after the Royal Wedding last Friday and the insanity that was the Met Gala earlier this week. We’re bringing it back next Friday and HGF will be on an every-other-Friday schedule from then on, just to give ourselves a break. Plus we were running out of guys to do every week. Anyway check out the archives for HGF, they go back a few months and they should help you get this image of Vin Diesel’s robot arms out of your head. In no way am I suggesting this guy as a substitute for HGF, unless you’re into that, and in that case bless you.
So here’s Vin Diesel in all his bald-headed roided glory on the cover of Men’s Fitness. I’ll admit this made me bust out laughing. It’s the look on his face, which is supposed to be serious and kick-ass but just falls flat. Unlike Vin’s costar The Rock, he doesn’t make a bald head sexy and his muscles make him look more like some kind of centaur. Like don’t you expect to scroll down and see that no-neck torso attached to a non-human body?
Inside, Diesel talk about how he used to work as a bouncer in New York and how he first got super fit because “you have to decide at a young age whether you’re going to be predator or prey.” Unlike past Men’s Fitness cover boys, he doesn’t have a specific program he touts but just says he loves to mountain bike and that he switches up his routine to fit whatever character he’s playing. Here are some quotes from his interview:
On being predator or prey
“When you grow up in New York City, you have to decide at a young age whether you’re going to be predator or prey,” he says. “Especially growing up at that time in the city, especially being a little homeboy, especially when you were trying to f*#@ every girl int he city.”
On being a bouncer in his late teens and twenties
“I learned so much in bouncing that I bring to these characters. You have to be able to read people. Speak with a New York City cop, and they talk about having to read people. Bouncing is like that but without the badge and the law. You’re a gunslinger for hire, basically. And you learn a lot in that field of work.”
On being in fights as a bouncer
“I must have been in more than 500 fights. I fought every night, and I bounced for nine or 10 years. And these weren’t pretty fights.”
How he trains for each character
These days, when it comes to staying in fighting shape, Diesel’s workout schedule is strictly dictated by his next role. Practicing a physical type of method acting, Diesel always commits to realistically re-creating the body and attributes his character would possess. If that means staying away form the iron and packing on a few pounds for a project, such as the 2006 movie Find Me Guilty (in which Vin plays an out-of-shape gangster who defends himself at trial), so be it. “I don’t do a service to myself if I succumb to serious powerlifting,” he says. “I have to be somewhat mindful of being typecast. I want to be the character and not just look built.” [For that movie] “It was ‘eat lots of ic cream and get as fat as you can.’ After being so fir from a young age, it was bizarre - and liberating.”
“When I do a role like Riddick, I don’t want to look boxy. I want to be pantherlike, I want to be agile. I have to do yoga or Pilates because I’m trying to get a completely different movement with my body.”
On his future as an actor
“I don’t really give a sh*t about my everyday stock. It’s not going to improve my self esteem. I just want to knock each role out of the park.”

Well I find him surprisingly likable in that interview. He seems like a smart, together guy and I like his “whatever” attitude toward his career. The dude stays off the gossip radar too, you can say that for him. We’ve heard that he didn’t want to do press for his films and that he made out with Paris Hilton at some point eons ago, but that’s it. I think I remember reading that he had a baby too at some point in 2008, but that was all so vague and we didn’t hear much about it. He keeps his stuff under wraps, but not his big old arms. Those things are like two big slabs of meat hanging out. But I have to admit he’s growing on me a little.

Crowds flocked to theaters all over the USA last night for the midnight release of ?Fast Five? and the box office numbers are impressive.
According to a report, the film grossed $3.7 million making it the best ever opening for a Universal title and the best opening for the ?Fast? franchise.
Things are going similarly well across the globe, as ?Fast Five? nabbed $7.6 million internationally last night.
All in all, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and company have already scraped up $47.4 million total thus far.

Vin Diesel decided to not show up to a day-long junket for his new Fast & Furious 4 film. Any attempts to reach him were ignored. It was only when an exec from Universal contacted him that he picked up. Diesel used the “I’m sick” excuse and ended up arriving four hours late to do two hours of press. Witnesses say he “didn’t even look sick.”
As a direct result, Diesel’s publicist at 42 West say they no longer represent him. As they should. Vin Diesel’s last big “hit” was The Pacifier in 2005. Being a diva is only tolerated if your movie is pulling insane numbers at the box office. As it stands, the only thing Diesel should be getting away with is using a lower grade wax on the director’s car. Although, even that might be pushing it.
