I put one version of this story in the links this week, but it?s worth discussing in an individual post. Elle Macpherson has seemed, to me, like a rather clueless person for some time. But I didn?t realize just how clueless she is: she actively pursued a relationship with Andrew Wakefield, and they?re now for-real together. If his name seems familiar, that?s probably because you?ve read some of the various exposs on Wakefield over the years. Wakefield was the ?doctor? who first made the fraudulent link between vaccines and autism. Wakefield and his now-debunked ?studies? were ground zero for the anti-Vaxx movement. And Elle Macpherson wants us to know that she pursued him.
Elle Macpherson has been with her new love for a while. The supermodel, 54, was photographed kissing Andrew Wakefield in Miami, Florida, on Friday one year after her divorce from billionaire Jeffrey Soffer. A Miami modeling source tells PEOPLE Macpherson and Wakefield, 61, ?have been dating for a while and seem to have much in common. Both are interested in alternative health practices and nutrition and sort of buck the norm to pursue their own idea. They agree on many health and nutrition issues. But he is not that well known around Miami.?
The source adds Wakefield, a disgraced doctor who linked vaccines to autism in a retracted study, was married for many years before meeting Macpherson.
?Elle swept him off his feet after they met at a business convention last year,? the source continues. ?They have kept things low-key but the romance is not new.?
Wakefield was a gastroenterologist in Britain before being removed from the UK medical register for unethical behavior, misconduct and fraud. In 2010 the British General Medical Council barred Wakefield from practicing medicine after investigating inquiries that Wakefield acted dishonestly in his research and conducted invasive and unnecessary procedures on children. Afterward, his 1998 paper, in which he falsely claimed that the polyvalent measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine was linked to autism, was retracted. He continued to defend his anti-vaccine views in 2011 saying that his findings and research were not fraudulent.

An interest in holistic medicine is different than a doctor committing medical malpractice and fraud to further an anti-vaccine movement. I mean, everybody has the right to fall in love and whatever I couldn?t care less about Elle and Wakefield?s romance. But don?t dress up the romance as ?Both are interested in alternative health practices and nutrition and sort of buck the norm to pursue their own idea.? That?s gossip malpractice.

As we discussed yesterday, Taylor Swift?s Reputation tour is back in America and she?s been using her New York apartment as a homebase while she?s doing concerts in Ohio, New Jersey, etc. All of that means that we?re back to getting daily pap strolls after two years of snake silence and mist. Seriously, for a solid year or longer we were having to make do with rare, blurry Sasquatch-like sightings of Tay. But now she?s back. In short-shorts.
Wednesday?s look consisted of denim-on-denim: the shorts are Ksubi, the top is Madewell, the sneakers are Golden Goose Deluxe Brand and the sunglasses are Jimmy Choo. Altogether, I think she looks rather cute, even if I?m not a big fan of some of these pieces on their own. Like, the shorts are horrendous. The top is admittedly cute, as are the glasses. It?s also worth noting that Taylor is no longer thicc she seemed to have gained some weight in fall 2017, but it came off pretty quickly. I liked her thicc, and she looks fine here too.
What else? When Tay performed in Cleveland on Tuesday, it was the 2-year anniversary of The Day of the Receipts. Which is why Tay noted the occasion in the middle of the concert, telling the crowd, ?Happy National Snake Day, my favorite day of the year,? during a performance of ?Look What You Made Me Do.? Girl? it?s a bad look when Kim Kardashian looks like the mature one. Last thing: there are lots of tweet-rumors about Taylor possibly collaborating with Lady Gaga. Gaga and Taylor were both in New York yesterday, and Tay stopped by the same studio where Gaga has been recording. Hm.

I kept going back and forth on Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. I couldn?t decide if they pissed me off or if I sort of liked them. I sort of liked them because I think he?s a good influence on her and I think she?s happier when she can identify herself as Liam?s low-key girlfriend. On the other hand, I disliked the narrative that Miley ?went crazy? without Liam and he?s the only one who can ?contain? her. In any case, I think we should all buckle up, because Crazy Twerking Miley is probably coming back shortly. Miley has deleted all of her Instagram posts, which is surely a sign that something is up. And then this news broke in the Aussie press:
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have reportedly called off their wedding. A source told OK! Australia on Thursday that the Hollywood power couple could not agree on when they should have children. The insider claimed Hunger Games star Liam, 28, was eager to settle down and become a dad but Miley, 25, isnt yet ready.
He wants kids and doesnt want to keep putting it off but its not quite the timeline Miley had in mind he is left heartbroken, the source said. Miley put off plans for the wedding and Liam was growing tired of it They havent been getting along in recent months.
The insider added: [She] didnt really want to get married. Its something that everyone else seemed to get but Liam. [His] family had been begging him to see the light for a long time, but he had faith in Miley. Now he feels like an idiot.

I feel like? Liam and his people are the ones driving this narrative and it will be interesting to see what Miley ends up saying. She?s 25 years old and she?s been with Liam, off and on, for something like eight years. Liam is the only real ?grown-up? relationship she?s ever had. Of course she has doubts and it?s completely normal to not be ready for marriage and motherhood at the age of 25.
I like the Hemsworth bros, but I feel like they have very concrete ideas about the kind of women they need to be with: they all want to be with women who are simply happy as wives and mothers, women who don?t have much of a career. Which is fine, and the world would be a much better place if men came out and said that they feel that way ahead of time. But it feels like Miley?s cold-feet are linked to the fact that she?s not ready to give up her career and settle in to just letting Liam be ?the star.? She knows what he wants: he wants her to give up everything she?s got going on in her career to have his babies and be his plus-one. And I don?t blame her for not being ready for that.
