Sound the alarm because we?ve got another remake alert! If you?ve been longing for a 2025 version of the 1997 Jennifer Lopez action-horror classic, Anaconda, then I?ve got some great news for you. A remake starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd is hitting theaters on December 25. This re-imagining adds an ?everything old is now funny? twist by turning it into a very ?meta? action-comedy. Rudd and Black play besties that set out to remake their favorite movie, Anaconda, but are thwarted by you guessed it a giant snake. Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn co-star. Merry Christmas to everyone who is scared of snakes!
PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the action-comedy, which stars Black and Rudd as lifelong best friends Doug and Griff, who, according to a synopsis, have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic classic, Anaconda.
Thats the 1997 thriller about a film crew fighting to survive a giant killer snake, which starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson and Jon Voight. In the new movie, a midlife crisis inspires Doug and Griff to pursue their dream, so they go to the Amazon to pull off their remake.
But, teases the synopsis, things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they?re dying to make? It might just get them killed.
Its a genuine kick in the ass, Rudd, 56, says of Anaconda, which comes from director Tom Gormican, who was behind 2022s very-meta Nicolas Cage movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
Adds Rudd, It was a clever script and the meta angles of it were appealing to me. I was a big fan of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and the tone of this and that seemed to live in the same world.
Black, 56, echoes that Gormican and co-writer Kevin Etten brought that same meta magic energy to this script and production.
The Jumanji actor adds that it was so fun to team up with Rudd. It was the main reason I wanted to do the movie, says Black. I?m a huge fan of Paul?s work. Dude is fing hilarious. And a sweet pea to boot!
Likewise, for Rudd: I love Jack and was thrilled to get to do this with him. Weve done a few little things in the past, and to get to really work together for months like this was fantastic.
The cast also includes Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, Selton Mello and Steve Zahn, who couldnt help but crack up at his funny costars. I fed up so many takes laughing at these guys, says Zahn, 57. Dream job.
According to Black, Anaconda is an exciting mix of comedy and horror. He adds, Buckle up for the thrill ride of the season ? Anaconda is coming!

So, this movie was actually announced all the way back in January 2020, but it fell off everyone?s radar because?you know. I love the original Anaconda, but I?m also a sucker for a good action-comedy. The trailer (below) dropped on Wednesday, Sept. 17, and its truly everything that I imagined this movie to be. It sets it up at the very beginning that theyre going to remake Anaconda and, of course, Sir Mix-a-lots Baby Got Back plays throughout it. Theres only a small portion in the trailer thats scary, but overall, it looks like this is going to be heavy on the suspense and comedy.
While I didn?t ask for this remake, I?ll admit that I am looking forward to it. It?s giving Tropic Thunder meets the Jumanji reboot. I mean, why not? I think it?s going to be a lot of fun, and it?s not exactly the type of prestige Oscar-contending drama that we usually get during the holidays. I?m also a huge fan of both Paul Rudd and Jack Black and really enjoyed what Tom Gormican did with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Whats the over/under that JLo, Owen Wilson or Ice Cube will make a cameo? We all lose if Jon Voight ends up being the sole returnee!

Here are some photos from the state banquet at Windsor Castle last night. The staging looked (to my eyes) almost identical to the Macrons? state visit and banquet several months ago. The biggest difference might have been the Prince and Princess of Wales, both of whom seemed extra-keen to show off their statesmanship. Like the Macron visit, Will and Kate posed for their own stand-alone portrait in their finery too. They did that because King Charles and Queen Camilla didn?t include the Waleses in the formal portraits with the Trumps, taken before the banquet.
Kate got to buy a new dress for the occasion: a cream-and-gold gown by Phillipa Lepley. I?m pretty sure this is only the second time Kate has worn this British designer, after Kate famously wore a Lepley gown during the Caribbean Flop Tour of 2022. I actually like the idea of this dress a cream or white gown with a lace ?coat? overlay. Valentino famously did a great version of this with delicate black lace. The Lepley design would have looked better without the lace turtleneck, and it really should have been more like a ?coat.? Kate also wore the Lovers Knot Tiara, one of the tiaras she consistently gets to borrow.
Interestingly, William changed up his look for the state banquet. At the Macron banquet, William apparently threw a hissy fit about wearing the ?Windsor uniform? for white-tie banquets, the special tailcoat with a red collar and cuffs. Previously, William just wore a normal black jacket. For this banquet, he actually wore the Windsor coat. Harry?s visit really put the fear of god into poor pitiful Peg.
As for Melania Trump, she wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera dress in canary yellow. A strange choice for a state dinner, where most first ladies or important women would do more ?diplomatic-dressing.? Like, Mel could have showcased a young American designer or a British designer or worn something flaggy, with stars or stripes. Instead, she just went for ?LOOK AT ME!? Camilla wore a blue Fiona Clare gown which I swear I?ve seen like a dozen times before. Recycling! She paired it with the Belgian Sapphire Tiara. She?s been doing a sapphire theme for this state visit and I have no idea why.

The kids don?t know or remember, but Karl Rove largely paved the way for the current state of American politics today. Rove was George W. Bush?s Svengali and senior advisor throughout Bush?s eight years in the White House. This week, MAGA World has apparently gone too far for even Karl Rove. He wrote a Wall Street Journal op-ed arguing that Trump and his people have to stop using Charlie Kirk?s murder as a 21st century Reichstag fire. Per Rove: ?Using Charlie?s murder to justify retaliation against political rivals is wrong and dangerous. It will further divide and embitter our country. No good thing will come of it.? When you?ve lost Karl Rove?
Well, Donald Trump doesn?t care about any of that. Yesterday, ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live indefinitely after Trump?s FCC director openly threatened to revoke ABC?s broadcast license if they kept Kimmel on the air. This is all happening because Kimmel questioned MAGA Worlds campaign to use Kirks death for their own political means. Trump who is still in the UK on a state visit shared his thoughts on Kimmel?s suspension.

After ABC indefinitely pulled the show following comments the host made about the death of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk, the president issued a statement on Truth Social. Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED, Trump wrote. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that?s possible.
Trump also took aim at late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers in his reaction, writing, That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.

That?s what happens when you give an inch to fascists. Once they took down Stephen Colbert, it was the beginning of the end. There are few ways for Kimmel to shimmy out of this mess with his integrity intact, but before those decisions are made, Trump is letting everyone know that he wants the Tonight Show and Seth Meyers? show taken down too. Jimmy Fallon must be like ?what the actual fk,? because Fallon barely does any politics! Seth has always been a brilliant critic of Trump and Trump World, but I could easily see how NBC would push out Seth to appease these Nazi aholes.
Trump is, like, Oompa-Loompa-level orange today in England.
