The casts of Barbenheimer arrived in London mid-week, and on Wednesday, Barbie and Oppenheimer had dueling events one premiere, one photocall, and a fan event. Then the SAG-AFTRA union left its negotiations with the studios and said that on Thursday, the actors would go on strike. A strike means that SAG members are not even allowed to do promotional junkets or attend premieres or Comic Con or anything like that. But? the timing was key. First a vote had to be held in LA, then the strike was called mid-morning on the west coast. So it ended up working out that the cast of Oppenheimer actually did some interviews and walked the premiere carpet in London, then halfway through the premiere, the cast went on strike.
So, here are some fashion notes from the last promotional event for Oppenheimer! Emily Blunt wore McQueen, an improvement over that ghastly mint Balmain in Paris. I don?t know if she was trying to ?pout? as she posed or if that?s just what her face does now. Meanwhile, Florence Pugh wore a stunning Valentino gown with a full skirt. Her stylist matched the burnt orange color to? the color of the atomic bomb on the posters. Bombshell!
As I said, the cast did get to do some interviews apparently, they moved up the time of the premiere just so the cast could do some last-minute interviews. The cast spoke to each other beforehand about what they would do once the strike was called, and they made a point of walking away from the premiere at the same time. Matt Damon was especially vocal about his support for his union, even though Deadline Hollywood tried to make it sound like he was against the strike. (Minor update: Deadline deleted their original tweet which was an incomplete quote from Matty D, but now theyve updated it.)

Florence Pugh had a shaved head at last nights Met Gala and wore a Valentino white gown featuring a poorly designed bodice with a dippy chiffon bow across the bust. She topped it off with a giant black feather crown. How does Valentino get it so wrong for Florence so often? Their fashion typically baffles me but they have great shoes and purses, Ill give them that. Florence represents Valentino and she was there with designer Pierpaolo Piccioli.
The train was really cool though.

I feel bad for Florence Pugh because I think she?s going to be on the top of a lot of worst-dressed lists today. Flo thought she served and she? didn?t. This is Valentino a pair of black bike shorts with a shiny duvet wrap, not the chicest. The worst part, to me, wasn?t the awful dress but her styling. I feel like we?re going to get a strongly-worded Instagram about how much we hate those stupid baby bangs. Meanwhile, Miss Flo went to a pre-Oscar party this weekend and Olivia Wilde was there. They apparently took pains to avoid each other completely. Good!
Stephanie Hsu in Valentino. This Oscar nominee got her big princess moment and I thought this was the best Valentino of the night. It was an extra bonus that, when Jamie Lee Curtis won Best Supporting, basically everyone on the internet was like ?if Angela Bassett had to lose, it should have been to Stephanie.? And truly, Stephanie?s role was so much more important in EEAAO. Anyway, I love this beautiful color on her. She looked beautiful and you could tell she felt beautiful too.
Emily Blunt in Valentino. First off, a lot of people were getting a vibe about Emily, right? Was the vibe just because her husband John Krasinski wasn?t her Oscar date? My vibe is not ?there?s trouble in paradise.? I think John was probably just busy or he didn?t want to go to the Oscars. As for the dress? first I was meh, then I hated it, but now I?m back to meh. There was so much white on the beige carpet, and this look wasn?t the best or the worst. I wish she had been blinged out she should have been dripping in diamonds in this simple dress.

Florence Pugh attended last night?s BAFTAs in this custom Nina Ricci ?explosion at the tulle factory? dress. Y?all might remember that I dislike orange on the red carpet, but the color is the least of my problems with this look! The color actually suits her, to be honest. I just hate the tulle, I hate that we can see through the bodice and note that she?s wearing a nude bodysuit. And yes, I really dislike the clip-in bangs. A mess, but she?s having fun.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Alaia. Rosie rarely comes out to these big events these days and maybe she?s lost her style mojo, because holy sh-t, this is awful.
Lashana Lynch in a custom Fendi look. Beautiful color but I find the design to be way too conservative. They could have done that sheer overlay on top without the added ?turtleneck.?
Ariana DeBose also wore a custom Fendi and? I can?t believe this look was customized, honestly. It would have just been a boring red carpet look from last year?s Oscar winner, but then Ariana was invited to sing a little introductory song at the BAFTAs and it did not go well.

Here are some photos from last night?s Fashion Awards in London. I don?t really care who won what, I?m just here to look at fashion. Some A-listers came out for this event and there were tons of models in attendance, of course. One thing British fashionistas do well is highlight new designers and up-and-coming designers, so it was an interesting mix of, like, people wearing Valentino and people wearing off-the-wall bespoke stuff. Here?s Florence Pugh in Valentino. I sometimes wonder if Flo should go for more streamlined, simpler looks given how short and petite she is, but she clearly loves big gowns and ballgowns. So be it. She looks great.
Tilda Swinton in Charles Jeffrey Loverboy. She looks bonkers and I love it.
Naomi Campbell in bespoke Valentino. Incredible, honestly one of my favorite gowns of the season, if not the year.
Elizabeth Debicki, looking like a tailored queen.
Jodie Turner-Smith in Gucci. Stunning. Very few women can pull off this chartreuse-bile color and Jodie is one of them.
Irina Shayk in bespoke H&M. She?s beautiful, of course, but this dress looks so uncomfortable and poorly cut. I think it?s just a tube and she can?t walk in it.
Rita Ora in Nensi Dojaka. Tacky. She has prosthetics on her face too, that?s why she looks like an alien.
FKA Twigs, possibly doing too much.
Ashley Graham in Patrick McDowell Spring-Summer 2023. I dislike this and it shows that even with the more body-positive and body-diversity movements within the fashion industry, designers still don?t know what to do with a woman larger than a size six.

I can?t really remember when I became aware of Florence Pugh. I guess it was around Midsomer, but she?d already established herself by then. I didn?t even see Midsomer, it was just like one day Florence was unknown to me an then she was everywhere I looked. But I?ve loved her in everything I have seen her in. Her opening scene in Hawkeye was such a fantastic introduction and her character already had a whole-@$$ movie going into that series. Florence, or I guess Miss Flo if youre nasty, got the Hollywood treatment, though, like so many other perfectly lovely, talented women. After finding early fame due to her enormous talent, those in the industry told her to slim down and change the shape of her face. Fortunately, Florence had the wherewithal to tell them ?nope.?
Florence Pugh has revealed Hollywood bigwigs told her to slim down and change the shape of her face if she wanted success in the industry.
The 26-year-old actress said she was specifically told to lose weight and change the shape of her face if she wanted to bag the big roles and become a household name.
I felt very lucky and grateful, and couldn?t believe that I had got this top-of-the-game job she said.
[But] all the things that they were trying to change about me, whether it was my weight, my look, the shape of my face, the shape of my eyebrows, that was so not what I wanted to do, or the industry I wanted to work in.
The Don?t Worry, Darling star, who has this week opened up about her early days in the entertainment industry, landed her first big role in 2014 movie The Falling.
She went on to land a part in a US TV movie Studio City, but was so disappointed in her experience on the show that she feared she?d made the wrong career choice.
She added to The Telegraph: I?d thought the film business would be like [my experience of making] The Falling, but actually, this was what the top of the game looked like, and I felt I?d made a massive mistake.
She added: I think it?s far too easy for people in this industry to push you left and right and I was lucky enough to discover when I was 19 what kind of a performer I wanted to be.

Of course it was the US studio that wanted to change everything about the woman they?d just hired. Thank goodness Florence had it in her to stand her ground at 19. I wish talent was enough. Florence is clearly gifted, and she has plenty of personality to bring to the promotions. Shes a beautiful young woman. I realize it?s not the Hollywood Way to accept people as is, though. What an awful message to send anyone, let alone a young woman just leaving her teens. I hope that other young women realize that Florence didn?t make those changes and is now calling the shots in her career at the age of 26.

Its Friday so let?s try to lighten up the mood a little, shall we? One of the Buzzfeed food guys, Pernell Quilon, broke down Florence Pugh?s tzatziki recipe and it?s so easy, I thought why not pass it along? I usually associate tzatziki with more summer recipes, but our days as yet hover in the low 80s here in So Cal, so I guess mentally I?ve still got one foot in summer.
Anyway, as many of you know, Florence is a good home cook, and she posts many of her recipes to YouTube from her beautiful kitchen. This recipe only takes six minutes, or so Flo claims, and six ingredients, most of which you probably have in your kitchen already. I?ll give you the Buzzfeed breakdown and post Florence?s video below.
Heres the six ingredients you need for the tzatziki: full-fat Greek yogurt, cucumber, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper. As for tools, all you need is a grater and a bowl to mix it all in. If you already have the salt, pepper, and olive oil, the total cost of making your own tzatziki is under $5. The Greek yogurt I got was small, so Id say the ingredients below could satisfy up to two people. That can, of course, be expanded easily.
STEP #1: First, start by dumping your yogurt into a bowl.
STEP #2: Next, add lots of olive oil to the yogurt.
STEP #3: Add a little bit of salt and a lot of pepper.
STEP #4: Cut a portion of the cucumber, since we wont be using the whole pre-pickled dill ? all you need is about six inches! Grate your cut cucumber directly into your mixture of yogurt, oil, salt, and pepper.
STEP #5: Take 1?3 cloves of garlic, depending on your liking, and grate on the finest side of your grater directly into the bowl until unable to safely continue.
STEP #6: Finally, mix it all together

Here are my notes: Florence is pretty insistent on full fat yogurt for the tzatziki. Im not Greek, let me make that perfectly clear, but I?ve made tzatziki with non-fat yogurt before. Florence says in her video below shes going to be mad at me, but I think well work it out. It?s a dip, not a sauce, so it doesn?t need the fat to coat the starches in the cooking. It?s a taste factor thing. I?ve found the non-fat to make it tangier. I mention this also because I?ve had trouble finding full-fat plain yogurt, tbh. Anyway, you do you. Pernell plays with ingredient amounts as he?s making it and you should too. Go light to begin and add more if you need it. Pull back on the salt and pepper and garlic until you know how much you want. The beauty of tzatziki is the marriage of mellow and zesty. It should have a kick to it, but not punch you as soon as it hits your tongue. Also, Hecate note: always keep a lemon handy. If you get too heavy with that salt or garlic, give it a shot of lemon juice to balance it out. The other thing is, Flo and Pernell talk about grating the cucumber and garlic. I know grating is a pain in the tuchus and hell on your nails, but you want to do it here. I find chunks work against blending the flavors. Oh, and one warning: in the article, Pernell said this only costs $5 if you have olive oil, salt and pepper in your pantry. If you don?t, this is closer to $20, depending on how good your oil is.
Now that you have your fab little tangy tzatziki, what do you put it on? As Florence and Pernell mention, it goes with so much. Try crudit, fish, raw or roasted veggies, chips. Trader Joes sells Gyro slices, grab those, some Pita bread, red onion, tomato and lettuce to whip up a nice little sandwich. Pernell suggested a salad, it?s a heavy dip but it could work with a heavy ruffage, maybe. Veggie pizza tastes great dipped in it. The recipe above is for two people, which is good. Tzatziki doesn?t keep long. I always end up throwing some out and it breaks my heart.
Oh my gawd, I almost forgot the most important part! As Flo will show you below, when you finish mixing, you have to lift the tzatziki bowl and dance in a circle. This invokes the Cucumber Goddess? blessing, otherwise the yogurt curdles? or so the legend goes .

There seems to be a suspicious number of pro-Olivia Wilde commenters in recent weeks, so let me make my position clear: in this situation, I?m Team Miss Flo. I genuinely believe that a lot of sh-t went down during the Don?t Worry Darling production, so much so that Florence Pugh was already reticent about doing much of any promo for the film. The coup de grce on Miss Flo?s promotional obligations came during the absolute fiasco of Olivia Wilde?s Variety cover story, in which she lied about firing Shia Labeouf to ?protect? Pugh. Only, as we learned a few days later, Shia had left the film voluntarily and he had receipts (in the form of a video memo) that Olivia was begging him to come back to the production even after something went down between Shia and ?Miss Flo.? Pugh has every right to disengage from Wilde?s obvious toxicity. It?s clear that Miss Flo?s costars have her back as well, and the studio is prepared to sign off on Miss Flo?s absence from most of the promotion. This is not a story about Pugh being unprofessional, it?s a story about Pugh wanting no part of Wilde?s bullsh-t and the studio saying ?okay.? Speaking of, Miss Flo will miss the New York premiere. So will Chris Pine.
Following the drama-plagued launch of Olivia Wilde?s Don?t Worry Darling at the Venice Film Festival, Warner Bros. is scrambling to avoid any additional seeming collisions between director Wilde and her star, Florence Pugh. There are still 16 days to go before the film?s opening on Sept. 23, a lifetime for a campaign that has sparked a media feeding frenzy with everything from Harry Styles? (alleged) spittle to Pugh?s eye contact, or lack thereof, being dissected.
But the studio won?t have to endure another tense and heavily scrutinized press event in the coming weeks. That?s because there?s only one on the calendar ? the film?s New York red carpet premiere on Sept. 19 ? and Pugh will not attend, according to two insiders.
(After this story?s publication, Warner Bros. confirmed in a press release that neither Pugh nor co-star Chris Pine would participate in the New York Event ? an IMAX Live screening and Q&A that will stream to more than 100 IMAX theaters ? with the film?s cast.)
The official reason cited for Pugh?s absence is that the actress is busy filming Dune: Part Two in Budapest and director Denis Villeneuve cannot cut her loose for a press event for another film. (She already left the Dune set once to attend Don?t Worry Darling?s world premiere in Venice, but skipped the press conference.)
?From what I understand, there is friction, but I don?t know why,? one source tells Rolling Stone on the issue. ?It?s pretty clear she?s choosing not to be a part of the PR. It?s clearly not beneficial to Olivia to not have her be a part of the PR. It has to be a Florence decision.?

The last thing the studio needs is to somehow force Pugh to take part in a Q&A session and for all hell to break loose when Miss Flo starts spilling tea in front of an audience. That too is part of everyone?s calculations.
Meanwhile, Miss Flo finally did her first-ever Instagram posts about DWD, where she simply thanked the crew and gave a special shoutout to Chris Pine (who is so obviously Team Flo, it?s hysterical). Not only that but now Florence?s glam squad has ?Miss Flo? t-shirts, which they wear when they?re fixing her up.

Earlier this month, Page Six got the ball rolling, reporting on the ?beef? between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh. Rumors of a beef had been circulating on social media for a while, as Florence?s fans kept noting that Pugh was not lifting a finger to promote Don?t Worry Darling, which Wilde directed and Pugh stars in. Pugh didn?t even bother ?liking? any of the official social media posts when the trailers started coming out, nor did she repost anything. Page Six?s sources claimed that Florence didn?t like the messy way Olivia dumped Jason Sudeikis and started up an affair with Harry Styles on the set of Don?t Worry Darling. ?Sources? later told Page Six that it wasn?t like Olivia and Harry flaunted their relationship anyway (which I doubt). Then Florence?s Harper?s Bazaar cover story came out and she barely talked about the film and she didn?t say one word about Olivia. I already felt like the beef rumors were probably true. Then Shia Labeouf dropped his receipts on Friday and all hell broke loose. Olivia lied about firing Shia.
