Michael K really got it right when he declared Brad Pitt?s current hairstyle ?The Full Aniston?. I?m a Brad apologist by default, because I like Angelina so much, but I can no longer defend his hair. This is awful! Brad?s hair doesn?t even look clean or well-maintained! It?s too long. Why is he doing this to us? It?s gross. Anyway, these are some photos of Brad at last night?s World War Z premiere. Angelina didn?t come, which is disappointing. Apparently, she didn?t come to the after-party either:
After walking the red carpet in Times Square last night for his big-budget zombie epic ?World War Z,? Brad Pitt was expected to slip off to an intimate VIP dinner for 30 at Meatpacking District hot spot Catch. The hush-hush dinner was for the cast and filmmakers, as well as Paramount boss Brad Grey, we hear. Pitt?s partner, Angelina Jolie, was not at the premiere, and Pitt told us she was with their kids and getting ready to embark on a trip for UN World Refugee Day, June 20.
Following the dinner, Pitt was to head to a Catch Rooftop after-party for 200 sponsored by Esquire magazine and DeLen tequila. Earlier yesterday, after Pitt appeared on ?Good Morning America? ? and reported that Jolie?s ?doing great? after her double mastectomy ? he headed to Forty Four at The Royalton for coffee.
A witness reports, ?A group of fans then approached him in the lobby and begged for photos. Brad?s security team gave him a look, but Pitt replied, ?Of course ,I can take a photo ? I would love to.? ?
Pitt?s been pumping his movie with smaller screenings leading up to last night. Spies at one said audience members were on edge when six guards swept a MoMA screening room during the film wearing ?night-vision goggles.? Luckily, they were on the lookout for film pirates, not zombies.

I wonder where Angelina is headed for World Refugee Day? Usually there are large events held in various world capitals, but Angelina might be traveling to an actual refugee camp to bring attention to one of the many refugee crises facing the UNHCR this year. Somewhere with Syrian refugees, maybe?
I?m also including photos of Jon Voight and James Haven (Angelina?s father and brother) at the premiere, plus Mireille Enos and her husband Cameron Frye Alan Ruck. Enos is wearing J.Mendel ? I could see Angelina in this dress too.

Melissa Etheridge is a breast cancer survivor and has been cancer free, by her own account, for nine years. She was with her last partner, Tammy Lynn Michaels, throughout her chemo and breast cancer battle and then she got better, cheated on Tammy with a mutual friend, left her and tried to get out of paying alimony or child support. That’s not conjecture, Tammy pretty much aired all their dirty laundry when she found her lifestyle massively downsized in the wake of the split.
I wouldn’t give that full unflattering intro to Melissa if she had just said that she disagreed with Angelina Jolie’s choice instead of painting her own cancer struggle like the best choice. She has every right to disagree with a preventive double mastectomy, especially as someone who dealt with cancer. What she did was shade someone else’s health decisions and act as if hers was so much nobler. At least that’s how I’m interpreting it. Here’s what she said:
BLADE: As a breast cancer survivor yourself, what did you think of Angelina Jolie?s announcement?
ETHERIDGE: I have to say I feel a little differently. I have that gene mutation too and it?s not something I would believe in for myself. I wouldn?t call it the brave choice. I actually think it?s the most fearful choice you can make when confronting anything with cancer. My belief is that cancer comes from inside you and so much of it has to do with the environment of your body. It?s the stress that will turn that gene on or not. Plenty of people have the gene mutation and everything but it never comes to cancer so I would say to anybody faced with that, that choice is way down the line on the spectrum of what you can do and to really consider the advancements we?ve made in things like nutrition and stress levels. I?ve been cancer free for nine years now and looking back, I completely understand why I got cancer. There was so much acidity in everything. I really encourage people to go a lot longer and further before coming to that conclusion.

Cancer survivors, do you find it offensive that she said “cancer comes from inside you” and that you could turn it on or off with “stress” and “acidity levels”? That’s what she said, isn’t it? While there are legit environmental factors, it wouldn’t have killed her to be a little more diplomatic about it. I get not agreeing with preventative mastectomies, but it’s offensive to imply that cancer patients brought it on themselves or can somehow control it just because that was her experience. Yes there are probably things people can do, but health issues can be random and scary and sometimes it’s just genes and horrible luck. Sometimes people do everything they’re supposed to, get the short end of the stick and die way before their time. Can you blame a woman who lost her mother and aunt to breast cancer for deciding to take matters into her own hands, to be proactive instead of reactive, to get the test, and then essentially erase her chances of having a disease that runs in her family? Angelina took control of her health, and just because she did it in a way that didn’t jibe with Melissa Etheridge’s cancer experience, that’s somehow wrong and “fearful.”

Everyone has been praising Angelina Jolie for getting that double mastectomy after finding out she had the gene mutation that raised her risk of breast cancer. Everyone except for Melissa Etheridge, that is.
Etheridge is also a breast cancer survivor but went a different route. Instead of the double mastectomy, she underwent chemo and has been cancer free for 9 years. She tells theWashington Bladevia Us that Angelina wasn’t courageous in undergoing the procedure, she was fearful. She also knows exactly what causes cancer. Because she’s a scientist now.
“I have to say I feel a little differently,” the Grammy-winning chanteuse (who, incidentally, performed at Brad Pitt’s wedding to Jennifer Aniston) said of the choice to get a preventive mastectomy. “I have that gene mutation too, and it’s not something I would believe in for myself. I wouldn’t call it the brave choice. I actually think it’s the most fearful choice you can make when confronting anything with cancer.”
“My belief is that cancer comes from inside you, and so much of it has to do with the environment of your body. It’s the stress that will turn that gene on or not. Plenty of people have the gene mutation and everything, but it never comes to cancer,” she continued, noting that surgical removal of one’s breasts is “way down the line on the spectrum of what you can do” to lessen your risk of the disease.
“I’ve been cancer free for nine years now, and looking back, I completely understand why I got cancer,” she added. “There was so much acidity in everything. I really encourage people to go a lot longer and further before coming to that conclusion [of a mastectomy].”
If you’ve skipped to the end without reading most of what was said, here’s a TL;DR version for you. Melissa Etheridge, also a breast cancer survivor, called Angelina Jolie a pussy for cutting off her boobs. Now I’m posting the requisite inflammatory statement, “Shots fired! Shots fired!”

Brad Pitt appeared on Good Morning America yesterday to promote World War Z, which comes out two Fridays from now. Brad has been hustling WWZ hard for a while ? this film really needs to make major money so it can at least break even with the crazy production costs. I?m considering seeing it to support Brad?s project, although I think the buzz/excitement level for the film has dimmed considerably now that critics have actually watched the film. Which means that Brad has to shill a little harder, and that he was open to taking questions about Angelina?s double mastectomy. Video and transcript below:

Just over one month since Angelina Jolie announced to the world she had undergone a preventive double mastectomy, the actress and mother of six is back to “business as usual,” according to her fiance, Brad Pitt.
“She’s doing great,” Pitt, 49, said today on ” Good Morning America.” “When she wrote her piece we had already come out the other end and we’re feeling very good about it.”
Jolie’s essay in the New York Times explaining how she had both breasts removed after being diagnosed with a rare mutation of the BRCA gene that put her risk of developing breast cancer at nearly 90 percent sparked a global conversation on genetic screening and preemptive medical procedures.
Pitt called the reaction to Jolie’s decision to go public with her very private decision a “beautiful thing to watch.”
“We were really surprised and moved [at] how many other people were dealing with the same issue,” Pitt said. “Her idea was that someone could learn from her story and she would love to share that. I’ve been moved by it from every stage of this thing, especially now, and it seems to be a galvanizing moment for people dealing with this. She’s certainly shown that if you do your research that you can make a decision that’s the best for you. It doesn’t have to be a scary thing. It can be an empowering thing.”
Pitt says the movie, in which he plays a United Nations troubleshooter trying to defend the world against a global zombie invasion, struck a chord for him as a dad in real-life.
“That’s the only thing that keeps me up at night [as a dad],” he said. “Is everyone safe? We tried to make this thing as real as possible when we put in those fears, certainly.”
While Pitt thinks about keeping his kids safe, they, specifically his sons, Knox, 4, Maddox, 11, and Pax, 8, inspired him to create the much-anticipated thriller, in theaters June 21.
“My boys love these things so they were the first impetus to start exploring,” he said of the film, a project Pitt has pursued for several years. “If we were going to do it we want it to be authentic,” he said. “We want to originate it in some way. We worked really hard at it and that’s why it’s taken so many years to get it to the screen.”

Brad also says that the next stop for the film is Moscow! Hopefully that will be this week, and hopefully Angelina will come to Moscow with him. I love Angelina in Russia. She always brings it, and I do think her look is very ?Russian? or Russian-friendly. If anyone has the dates for the rest of the premieres, please post them! Speaking from her own experience, Melissa Etheridge shared her opinion on Angelina Jolie's preventative double mastectomy in a recent interview with the Washington Blade.
A breast cancer survivor herself, the musician answered a question about the actress' choice, saying, "I have to say I feel a little differently. I have that gene mutation too and it?s not something I would believe in for myself.?
Seeing the decision in a different light, Ms. Etheridge continued, "I wouldn?t call it the brave choice. I actually think it?s the most fearful choice you can make when confronting anything with cancer. My belief is that cancer comes from inside you and so much of it has to do with the environment of your body. It?s the stress that will turn that gene on or not.?
Encouraging people to think carefully, the 52-year-old songstress explained, "Plenty of people have the gene mutation and everything but it never comes to cancer so I would say to anybody faced with that, that choice is way down the line on the spectrum of what you can do and to really consider the advancements we?ve made in things like nutrition and stress levels."
Finally, hoping to inspire others with her own story, Melissa concludes, "I?ve been cancer free for nine years now and looking back, I completely understand why I got cancer. There was so much acidity in everything. I really encourage people to go a lot longer and further before coming to that conclusion.?

On Friday, the Supreme Court finally made their ruling in the Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics case. The case was complicated, and it involved the future of medicine, the future of DNA testing and pre-cancer screenings. Basically, SCOTUS ruled that human genes cannot by patented, which means that the ONE company claiming to hold the patent on the ?faulty BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes? ? if a woman carries the BRCA genes, she much, much more likely to develop breast and ovarian cancers ? cannot ?hold a patent? on the gene, because genes are ?products of nature?. In the real world, in meant that only one company ? Myriad Genetics ? was able to screen and test whether women were carriers of the genes, and now that’s changed. These are the same genes that Angelina Jolie carried, was tested for, and when she discovered her (very high) cancer risk, she underwent a double mastectomy.
SCOTUS?s ruling is good news for civil libertarians who don?t believe their genes are intellectual property which can be patented. In the wake of the decision, the real-world effects will likely be that costs for testing for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes will go down as more research centers and testing facilities can open up to patients. The ACLU issued a statement: “Today, the court struck down a major barrier to patient care and medical innovation. Myriad did not invent the BRCA genes and should not control them. Because of this ruling, patients will have greater access to genetic testing and scientists can engage in research on these genes without fear of being sued.” You can read more about the case and the SCOTUS decision here.
Interesting enough, Angelina Jolie also issued a statement, and from what I can see, she only issued this statement to CNN:
“I hope that this ruling will lead to more women at risk of breast cancer being able to get access to gene testing and to take control of their lives, not just in the U.S. but around the world — whatever their means and whatever their background,” she said.

I?m glad Angelina is being judicious about how and where she comments publicly about the nuts-and-bolts of her medical decisions and about the science of genetic screenings. In the wake of her May announcement, Angelina got some really snide criticism (in my opinion), but she was also ?blamed? for an increased awareness of women?s cancer issues. I?ve read several issues bashing Angelina personally for the increased demand by women for cancer screenings and genetic testing. Like, women taking their health risks seriously and wanting to be tested for the BRCA genes are somehow a BAD thing.

Yesterday, we talked about what happened on Angelina Jolie?s 38th birthday, which she celebrated in Berlin with her family. First, the whole family traveled to Berlin. Then Angelina and Brad went to the World War Z premiere and Angelina wore a fussy, button-y white dress. Then Angelina changed into a black frock and she and the whole family went out to eat at a sushi place. It turns out there was more to the birthday celebrations: Brad kept on celebrating until 2:30 am while Angelina got some birthday-girl sleep. Damn! Did Angelina not get any birthday booty?
Fresh from her breast cancer victory, Angelina Jolie was ready to celebrate her 38th birthday in a big way with Brad Pitt Tuesday night in Berlin ? and RadarOnline.com has all the details.
Angie started off the night on Brad?s arm at the premiere of World War Z. But the celebrations had already begun.
?We started off at 30,000 feet on the way over here,? Brad revealed to a reporter on the carpet. And in fact, the couple may have had a jet to themselves ? the family flew on two jets to the German capital.
After the red carpet, at 9 pm it was on to family time at the trendy Next to Kuchi ramen restaurant, where Brad had reserved an entire floor, an insider tells RadarOnline.com.
?Their security guards had told him about the restaurant,? the source explains.
Maddox, 11, Pax, 9, Zahara, 8, Shiloh, 7, and Vivienne and Knox, 4, all sampled healthy options like Koh-Samui Salad with papaya, peanuts and Thai herbs, Tofu Stirfry, sushi and chicken fried rice.
The family left around 10:30 pm ? leaving behind one of the twin?s blankies, which security picked up later, says the source. After dropping the kids off at the Hotel Adlon, Angie and Brad continued the party at the premiere?s after-party at the Soho House.
Angelina stayed just an hour, however, while Brad was seen rolling out solo at 2:30 am, according to the local BZ newspaper.
Perhaps sleeping off the night before, Brad was nowhere to be seen on Wednesday, when Angelina, Shiloh, Vivienne and Pax visited the Bauhaus Archive in the Tiergarten Park. The group spent more than two hours viewing the design collection, according to press secretary Ulrich Weigand, before heading out for lunch at the nearby Einstein Cafe.
Brad was spotted later in the afternoon on a helicopter tour of the city with Pro7 TV channel, while Angelina was on her way to the Schnefeld Airport with all of the kids.

So Angelina decided to leave the Soho House at 11:30 and Brad was all, ?Bye?? He didn?t even take her back to the hotel to give her a ?special birthday present? (hint: it?s his d–k in a box)? I mean, this isn?t some huge scandal. Brad had to schmooze and sell his movie and shake hands and have some drinks with business people, I suppose. ?Networking? I guess they call it. While Angelina is probably still kind of tired from all of her medical stuff. But I was hoping for something more romantic. Like an emerald necklace and THIS:

If you thought Angelina Jolie wouldn’t look as hot after that double mastectomy, then have I got news for you. It’s not true. Not even close. She might even look better than she did before. Plus, she has bionic boobs now. They probably defy gravity and inspire awe among everyone who sees them. Sort of like seeing the Egyptian pyramids for the first time. But less pointy.

Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at last night?s Berlin premiere of World War Z. I kind of love how Angelina is being all ?ride or die? on Brad?s promotional tour. I wasn?t expecting her to come to EVERY European premiere, but here she is. Maybe she knows that the best way to promote Brad?s project is with some Jolie.
Angelina wore this Ralph & Russo dress. She?s worn Ralph & Russo before ? memorably, one of the last times she was in Berlin, back in 2012 ? I loved that grey gown. I?m not a fan of this particular dress though. Peplums are so 2011!!!! I can?t believe I?m actually seeing Angelina Jolie in a peplum. How does she manage to still look slender and slim-hipped with a peplum? I don?t care for the gaudy gold belt thing, but I kind of dig the button detail at the back. It?s very Duchess Kate ? you know Waity loves her buttons. Angelina often wears dresses with interesting back details, but this is particularly fussy for her, I think. Then there?s the effect of the white dress with her pale legs and white heels? it?s all very ?nurse? to me.
Should we talk about her breasts? I think they look good in this dress, but I?m not entirely positive that we?re really seeing the swell of her new breasts ? look at the angles on this dress. I think the top part might be stiffer and more structured than people think, and Angelina isn?t completely filling it out. Either that or when she got her breasts reconstructed, she went up a size too.
PS? I didn?t even mention Brad. He?s there. And I?m starting to agree with Michael K about his hair ? Brad?s hair HAS gone ?full Aniston?.
