I?m not sure what all of this is about, but it?s always nice to hear from The Leg of Doom. I?ve missed her! Haven?t you missed her? Angelina Jolie was everywhere a year ago ? Brad was nominated for a bunch of awards and she was ?the date? plus she was promoting In the Land of Blood and Honey, plus she didn?t mind when the paparazzi got nice shots of her and the kids. And nowadays? there?s such an absence! I miss her. Anyway, Angelina might have given a new interview to Total Film Magazine ? I don?t think TF is in the habit of completely making up interviews, but you never know. Angelina talks about directing, her kids, and how she got with Brad. Maybe I?m clinging to this because there?s been such a dearth of quality Jolie-Pitt stories, but I think this interview is pretty good:
Angelina Jolie, she of The Leg, doesn’t let her overwhelming fame go to her head. In an interview with Total Film magazine the 37-year-old stunner opened up about her and fiance Brad Pitt’s lifestyle.
“The great thing about having a bunch of kids is they just remind you that you’re the person who takes them to go poop!” Jolie told interviewer James Mottram.
The Jolie-Pitt clan consists of the two A-listers and their six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne. Despite being known worldwide, Jolie insists ”we have a very normal, very grounded home. And we’re friends, and we have a laugh with our kids.”
How do they deal with the swarms of paparazzi waiting on their every move? “We just explain to our kids that people like to take pictures of people who make movies. And that’s all it is. It’s not anything special about mommy and daddy – we just happen to make movies.”
On that note, Jolie also talked about “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” her film set in the Bosnian War and the first she’s ever directed.
“I didn’t set out to ever become a director or write a script. I was never intending to make a film,” the Academy Award-winning actress told the magazine. ?I’ve been traveling for over 10 years to these conflict and post-conflict zones, and thinking about what happens to people when they live inside these situations, and how their humanity is just stripped apart … So I wanted to have a meditation on what this is and how people who are neighbours can turn against each other.”
On fame: “I don?t think [actors need a mystique surrounding their private life]. You know the actor. You?ve seen them at award shows, you?ve seen them at premieres dressed up. So whether they share or not, their cover is already blown.”
On her roles: “I do feel that?s very much what a woman is, that combination [of very strong but also very feminine], and I think interesting roles do have that combination ? more complex people have that dual side to their personality.”
On being labeled sexy: “I’m a woman, and anytime you tell a woman that she looks nice, it?s not going to upset her.”
On “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” bringing her and Brad together: “Yes, we do talk about that. We look around at our kids. I?m not somebody that thinks about destiny and fate but I don?t walk away from it when something unfolds.”

Speaking of unfolding, Star Magazine reports this week that Angelina is pregnant again. Yeah? it?s Star. That being said, I wouldn?t be surprised if they went for one more (or two more). A source tells Star, ?Angelina has been talking about having another child for years now? But Brad kept putting his foot down because of their intense schedules and chaotic lifestyle.? So Angelina just went ahead and got knocked up and Brad cried about it and now Angelina is purposefully staying out of the spotlight because she doesn?t want people to know she?s knocked up. The source says, ?She had morning sickness and didn?t want to draw attention to herself in public. She?s focusing on the other children right now, trying to prepare them for the new baby.? Angelina and Brad are convinced that she?s expecting a boy, and Shiloh says that they?ll need to name him ?John? (because that?s what Shiloh calls herself).

Ugh. I?m a Brangeloonie and everything, but even I get tired of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?s talking points. Like, I was fine with Brad talking about the wedding last week while he promoted Killing Them Softly, but now Angelina has given an interview? and I just find it exhausting. They were talking about this earlier in the year, when Brad was campaigning for his Oscar. They talked about it last year. They?ve started talking about it whenever they promote one of their films. The subject? How they?re going to ?quit? Hollywood. I don?t get why they continue to give quotes about it. If you?re going to quit, just quit. We don?t need a multi-year build-up to prepare ourselves. Anyway, here?s Angelina?s new interview where she discusses how she?s totally going to quit, for real now.
It was only last year that Brad Pitt claimed he would be giving up acting for directing in the space of three years as he approaches the 50 mark. And now his fiance Angelina Jolie has vowed the same thing. The Tomb Raider star has now said that she too envisages giving up being in front of the camera so that she can spend more time with their brood of children.
Jolie, 37, has now also spoken out to admit she can’t see herself spending that much longer concentrating on her movie career.
She told Channel 4 news: ‘I think I’m going to have to give up the acting as the kids hit the teenage years, anyway, too much to manage at home. I have enjoyed being an actress. I am so grateful to the job and I have had great experiences and I have even be able to tell stories and be a part of stories that mattered and I have done things for fun, but…’
The Salt star added: ‘I will do some films and I am so fortunate to have the job, it’s a really lucky profession to be a part of and I enjoy it. But if it went away tomorrow I would be very happy to be home with the children. I wake up in the morning as a mum and I turn on the news like everybody else and I see what’s happening and I want to be part of the world in a positive way.’
Brad made a similar pledge recently when the 48-year-old revealed he’d like to give up acting in the near future as he approaches 50. And he admitted he even chooses what films he appears in carefully now for fear his children will judge him.
He said: ‘If I’m choosing a film now I want it to be, maybe, less immature than things I’ve done in the past. I’m very conscious that they’re going to see it as adults. I want it to mean something to them. I want them to think: ‘Dad’s all right’. It changes everything.’
And it’s no wonder the pair are deciding to hang up their acting shoes now as they get even more settled in their family lives. The couple are due to wed in the near future – and Pitt has already spoken about their plans. And it seems like when Brad finally does wed Angelina Jolie it will be a day all about the little cherubs.
The parent of adopted and biological kids – Maddox, 11, Pax, eight, Zahara, seven, Shiloh, six, and twins Knox and Vivienne, four ? wants the ceremony to be one where the little ones get as much attention as the beautiful bride.
Following an interview with the actor, a writer at People magazine revealed about the forthcoming nuptials: ?One thing for sure, he says it’s going to be all about family: a simple affair with Angie and the kids.?

Maddox is 11 years old now ? just two years away from his teenage years, although kids are growing up faster these days and he?s probably already a rambunctious tween. So is Angelina saying she?ll quit in two years? Is she just trying to prepare us for her eventual withdrawal from Hollywood? Here?s the thing: she?s already withdrawn from Hollywood a great deal over the past few years. She hasn?t appeared in front of the camera since The Tourist, and that was 2010. And she keeps signing on for films too. So? ENOUGH. Enough with conveniently claiming that you?re so over it and so family-oriented and you?re totally going to quit.

Wow, two Jolie-Pitt sightings in two days! Amazing. Yesterday, I covered the photos of Vivienne and Knox Jolie-Pitt playing in the park with a nanny and Angelina Jolie?s assistant Holly (who I don?t know on sight, sorry Brangeloonies!). And now we have photos of Angelina out with Knox, Viv and Shiloh! Angelina took her youngest kids to the Halloween Super Store in Sherman Oaks yesterday, and the paparazzi got lots and lots of photos. Why does Shiloh look so grumpy? And good God, all of these kids look so similar.
Happy almost Halloween from the Jolie-Pitts! Angelina Jolie took her children Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox shopping for last-minute Halloween costumes Oct. 28 at the Halloween Adventure Superstore in Sherman Oaks, Calif., browsing the aisles for close to an hour.
Among the items the brood scooped up during their trip? A unicorn costume for 4-year-old Vivienne and a dinosaur stuffed toy for her twin brother.
“Angelina looked amazing! She definitely looked really healthy and she was really sweet. A few fans came up to her and she was beyond nice to them and talked to every single one of them,” an onlooker tells Us Weekly, adding that Vivienne wore her unicorn costume the entire time. “They were there for close to an hour and they had a pretty large purchase.”

Don?t girly-girls all want to princesses and fairies and angels and such? I wonder what Knox is going to be?? Maybe that?s why Shiloh looked so grumpy. She and Knox both wanted to be pirates or cowboys or something. And what will Empress Zahara be for Halloween?! I need to know.
By the way, Angelina does look very healthy (for her) in these photos. She?s back to eating solids! HUZZAH. And nice Louis Vuitton cross-promotion, eh?

Angelina Jolie has written a blog post for The Daily Beast! You know why? Because she and Tina Brown are tight. I know, it?s kind of a strange friendship, but it sort of works too. Angelina and Tina have come together to launch ?a Woman of Impact Award for Girls’ Education to provide funds to women and girls fighting for girls’ education in Pakistan and Afghanistan.? They?re doing it through the Women in the World Foundation, a foundation they?re both involved with (they appeared together at a foundation event earlier this year). All of the money raised through the partnership will go towards girls? education in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and Angelina is donating the first $50,000 (donated from Angelina?s Education Partnership for Children of Conflict). Why this topical and somewhat controversial (?controversial? if you?re the Taliban) subject of education for girls? Because Angelina is getting involved with the story of Malala Yousafzai, the 14-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen as she was returning home on the school bus. She?s still alive ? she?s receiving treatment in the UK right now. Malala has been a vocal proponent of girls? education since she was 11, and you can read more about her extraordinary and revolutionary life here. On Wednesday morning, as we readied the kids for school amidst a few of the usual complaints about not wanting to go, I saw a headline on the cover of The New York Times: Taliban Gun Down a Girl Who Spoke Up for Rights. The Taliban claimed that 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai ?ignored their warnings, and she left them no choice.? They approached her school bus, asking for her by name, and shot her in the head for promoting girls? education.
After reading the article, I felt compelled to share Malala?s story with my children. It was difficult for them to comprehend a world where men would try to kill a child whose only ?crime? was the desire that she and others like her be allowed to go to school.
Malala?s story stayed with them throughout the day, and that night they were full of questions. We learned about Malala together, watching her interviews and reading her diaries. Malala was just 11 years old when she began blogging for the BBC. She wrote of life under the Taliban, of trading in her school uniform for colorless plain clothes, of hiding books under her shawl, and eventually having to stop going to school entirely.
Our 8-year-old suggested that the world build a statue for Malala, and fittingly create a reading nook near it. Our 6-year-old asked the practical question of whether Malala had any pets, and if so, who would take care of them? She also asked about Malala?s parents and if they were crying. We decided that they were, but not only for their daughter, also for children around the world denied this basic human right. Like Malala, her parents are icons of bravery and strength. Malala?s father, also a long time champion for girls? education, is a school principal, teacher, and poet.
The following morning, the news showed pictures of children across Pakistan holding up Malala?s picture at vigils and demonstrations, and praying in schools. My son worried that girls were going to be shot for standing up for Malala. I told him that they were aware of the danger, but publicly supporting her reflects how much Malala means to them. Malala?s courage reminded all Pakistanis how important an education is. Her bravery inspired their own.
Still trying to understand, my children asked, ?Why did those men think they needed to kill Malala?? I answered, ?because an education is a powerful thing.?
The shots fired on Malala struck the heart of the nation, and as the Taliban refuse to back down, so too do the people of Pakistan. This violent and hateful act seems to have accomplished the opposite of its intent, as Pakistanis rally to embrace Malala?s principles and reject the tyranny of fear. A spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban said ?let this be a lesson.? Yes. Let this be a lesson?that an education is a basic human right, a right that Pakistan?s daughters will not be denied.
As girls across Pakistan stand up to say ?I am Malala,? they do not stand alone. Mothers and teachers around the world are telling their children and students about Malala, and encouraging them to be a part of her movement for girls? education. Across Pakistan, a national movement has emerged to rebuild the schools and recommit to educate all children, including girls. This terrible event marks the beginning of a necessary revolution in girls? education.
Malala is proof that it only takes the voice of one brave person to inspire countless men, women, and children. In classrooms and at kitchen tables around the world, mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters are praying for Malala?s swift recovery and committing themselves to carry her torch. As the Nobel Committee meets to determine the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, I imagine brave Malala will be given serious consideration.

I was moved by the stories of how the Jolie-Pitt kids reacted, but I have to give a ?WTF?? to the last part. The Nobel committee has already determined the winner of the Peace Prize this year ? the European Union was given the award for ?its efforts to promote peace and democracy in Europe.? Unless Angelina means the 2013 Peace Prize? Or maybe she thinks that the Nobel Committee is going to take a mulligan after their EU announcement was met with near-universal derision? Which brings me to a weird point ? I respect Angelina?s humanitarian work a great deal, and I admire the simple fact that she puts her money and her time where her mouth is. But Angelina?s efforts and her years of work often get hung up or overshadowed by nagging little details like ?Does Angelina know that the Peace Prize was already announced??
Anyway? poor Malala. She sounds like an extraordinary young woman.

Does anyone else watch It?s Always Sunny In Philadelphia? It?s not one of my can?t-miss favorites or anything, but it?s funnier than most of the network comedies on TV right now, and Danny DeVito is great on the show ? he plays the crazy, perverted criminal patriarch to a band of losers. I always thought that DeVito?s casting on the show was kind of genius ? even though Danny has played a lot of losers and malcontents in his career, most people have the warm-fuzzies for him whenever they see him, and the IASIP character subverts that. Anyway, it turns out that Danny might actually be kind of sleazy in real life. Following the announcement that Danny and his wife of 30 years, Rhea Perlman, were separating, Radar claims that Danny?s had a wandering eye for YEARS. Gross.

Throughout the years, it became clear that Ann Curry was a full-fledged Brangeloonie. A Brangeloonie recognizes the lunacy in others, and I have to admit, Ann never really hid her Brangeloonie-status. To give Ann some credit, I think Angelina Jolie chose to give Ann many exclusives because Ann was known to be a sympathetic (and easy) interview. Angelina must have talked Ann up to Brad Pitt, because Brad began giving exclusives to Ann Curry for a while too ? until Ann began fondling him during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival a few years ago, after which, I don?t think Brad ever sat down with Ann again. Still, Angelina and Ann were still friendly, and now Radar claims that Angelina has (privately) declared her allegiance to Ann Curry, and Jolie says she?ll never give an interview to NBC again if it?s not with Ann.
In the days after Ann Curry was sacked from her co-host gig on the TODAY show, Angelina Jolie reached out to the veteran journalist and told her if NBC wanted an interview with her, or fiance Brad Pitt, it would be conducted by Curry, and definitely not any of the current cast of the embattled morning news program, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.
“Angelina reached out to Ann Curry after she was fired from her gig on the TODAY show and was very clear, if ANY news program from NBC wants an interview with her, or Brad, Ann will be the only one to do it,” a source close to the situation tells us.
“Angelina has tremendous respect for Ann because of the work she has done on bringing awareness to Darfur. Ann has developed a professional relationship with Angelina and Brad, and they trust her implicitly because of her integrity. Their working relationship has developed into a friendship, and it meant the world to Ann that Angelina had reached out to her. Angelina made it clear to Ann that no one from the current TODAY show cast would get an interview with Angelina or Brad, and with rumors of an upcoming wedding for the couple, NBC will lose any interviews with the actors in the future if Ann isn’t allowed to do it,” the insider added.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Nielsen ratings released Monday indicate ABC’s Good Morning America beat TODAY last week, despite huge momentum for the NBC morning program, which was coming off two dominant ratings weeks with their exclusive coverage from the London Olympics.
GMA beat TODAY by an average of 162,000 viewers, according to the Nielsens, as TODAY only won Monday out of the five-day week. TODAY had squashed GMA during the two weeks of the Olympics by an average of more than 1.5 million viewers a week, but lost all five weeks in the ratings battle prior to the games in London.
Furthermore, Matt Lauer is “hated” by several long-time producers of TODAY and the crew is in turmoil, all as a result of the morning show host having pushed NBC executives to dump Curry as his co-anchor.
“There are several producers that have been with the TODAY show for a very long time, over ten years, and Matt Lauer is now hated by them because they feel that he is responsible for Ann Curry’s being fired. Ann was tremendously popular with the producers, cameramen, and other staffers of the show because she truly is a team player. Ann was all about the news, and breaking stories, just a true pro,” a source previously told us.
“Angelina doesn’t have a publicist, she never has, and she hand picks who she does press with. Angie doesn’t like how Ann has been treated by NBC. Yes, she is a very busy mom of six, and her work as an actress and activist, but she has been very aware of what is going on with her friend. Angelina told Brad he should let Ann interview him for all of his work in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and Brad feels the same way about Ann that Angie does,” the insider says.

I keep hearing that NBC higher-ups and Today Show staffers are having ?buyer?s remorse? with Ann?s replacement, Savannah Guthrie. I don?t think Savannah is actively bad or anything ? she?s bubbly and cute, and she and Matt Lauer flirt with each other on air often. But there is something lacking. Of course, there was something lacking between Lauer and Ann too. Despite all of the stories about how everyone ?misses? Ann now, I really don?t think NBC would ever admit their mistake and ask her to come back. Not even if Angelina Jolie threatens to withhold exclusive interviews. More likely, Angelina will just go somewhere else with little effort ? like, she?ll start to give her exclusives to Anderson Cooper, or Katie Couric at 60 Minutes, or Good Morning America or whatever.

Just like two weekends ago, I kept checking in this past weekend to see if Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had finally gotten hitched. The Mail ran an extensive story about what the wedding would look like at their French chateau, and I kept seeing reports about all of the photo agencies sending photographers to the South of France in the hopes of getting some good wedding photos. Alas, it seems like Brad and Angelina weren?t even IN France last week or this past weekend. They weren?t in England either. According to Page Six, Brangelina were vacationing in Greece, and according to a ?source,? Angelina ?laughed off? rumors that their wedding is coming up soon:
While rumors continue to swirl about Brad Pitt?s wedding to Angelina Jolie at their French chateau, the A-list couple were recently spotted in Greece.
We?re told they were seen a week ago at a restaurant in Halkidiki, northern Greece.
A source tells us, ?Angelina was in white, but she laughed and said ?not yet? when the restaurant owner asked if she was getting ready to be married. She also said, ?We love Greece too much to leave . . . we have other islands to go to before heading back to France.?
The source added that Angelina, Brad and their kids were traveling on a super-yacht and had visited islands including Mykonos and hoped to visit Santorini. Guests in the local restaurant were stunned to see them, but were banned from taking photos.
Other stars vacationing in Greece include Robert De Niro and John Travolta, who were seen admiring the Acropolis museum in Athens in early August and relaxing on a yacht. And Tom Hanks was seen taking a swim off the island of Antiparos.

Er? so is Angelina done filming Maleficent? Is Brad Pitt done with his (smaller) role in The Counselor? Is Brad done with the reshoots for World War Z? WHY ARE THEY ON VACATION?! And why Greece? It?s funny, you know ? a few months ago, the tabloids were reporting that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux were planning on a secret elopement ? in Greece! And Jennifer is famously part Greek, and she?s vacationed there before. So? was this some Uncool Triangle BS? Or did Brad and Angelina just decide to go on vacation, with no thought to Brad?s ex-wife? Or are they even really in Greece? I have no idea.

Some days, when I have nothing better to do, I sit around and worry about Angelina Jolie?s career. It?s not that my concern for Angelina?s career is of the ?no one wants to work with her? variety, nor is it ever ?Angelina can?t carry a movie.? Both of those arguments are false. No, my concerns about her career revolve around the whole ?Angelina should be working MORE? variety. Her last starring role was The Tourist. In 2010. Maleficent will be her next film chronologically as an actress ? and it doesn?t come out until 2014. Yes, she took time off to chill out with her family and to write and direct In the Land of Blood and Honey? but really, she?s one of the Hollywood?s most in-demand actresses, and she gets to see tons of scripts (GOOD scripts), and it?s a shame she works so rarely.
So? I don?t know if this is good news or not. THR claims that Angelina is going to take a small cameo role in a film called The Great Beauty, directed by Italian auteur Paolo Sorrentino. I wonder if Angelina is playing ?the great beauty??
Paolo Sorrentino, who won two Cannes jury prizes in the last five years and whose last film, This Must Be the Place, was his first project set outside Italy, will return to Rome for his next project, which he says will feature Angelina Jolie in a small role.
Sorrentino is the 42-year-old Neapolitan director behind Il Divo, the film that told the story of Italy?s polarizing political icon Giulio Andreotti, which won the Cannes jury prize in 2008. He followed with This Must Be the Place, which starred Sean Penn as an ageing rocker out to avenge the man who revealed that his father had been a Nazi and won Cannes? Ecumenical Jury prize in 2011.
Two earlier Sorrentino films, Amico di Famiglia (Family Friend) from 2006 and Le Conseguenze dell?amore (The Consequences of Love) from 2004 also screened in competition in Cannes.
Sorrentinto said his next film, La grande bellezza (The Great Beauty), will be set in Rome. The film, which he said will have a cameo role for Jolie, will star Toni Servillo, who will play a La Dolce Vita-style reporter. It is tentatively scheduled for release in 2013, though it is not clear whether it will be finished in time to become Sorrentino’s fifth consecutive film to screen in competition in Cannes.
The film will be Servillo?s third collaboration with Sorrentino: he played a small role in Conseguenze dell?amore and played the central role of Andreotti in Il Divo.

I mean? sure. I don?t have a problem with her doing small parts or cameos in small, European art films (that sound like Fellini knock-offs). I just wish that these little parts came in between more varied and more constant work as an actress. Incidentally ? most people have forgotten that Angelina finally signed on with a Hollywood agent last year. Jolie is now being represented by Ilene Feldman at IFA Talent ? Feldman is Ryan Gosling?s agent. It was said at the time that Angelina was seeking to do smaller films and more varied work, looking to move beyond the big-budget franchise films. But? is this the answer? A big-budget, special-effects-heavy Disney film followed by a cameo in an Italian art-house movie? Eh.

First of all, I appreciate that Angelina Jolie never changes. She loves a sack dress, always and forever. No matter the occasion ? awards season red carpet or just an international flight ? there?s always a sack dress to fit the mood. These are photos of Angelina arriving in Sarajevo on Saturday. She brought Shiloh, Pax and I think Zahara (is that Empress Z behind Jolie?) to Sarajevo from England, where Angelina is filming Maleficent in a series of cow pastures (???). Angelina made the trip with three of her kids ? and no Brad!!! ? because In The Land of Blood and Honey was being screened at the 18th Sarajevo Film Festival, and Angelina was designated a ?special guest?. She was also in town to receive her honorary citizenship!
Lest you think that Angelina merely arrived in her long, black red carpet sack and didn?t bother changing for her appearance at the film festival ? you?re wrong! Angelina did change. You can see the photos of her appearance here. She also flashed her giant engagement ring which? I?m sorry, I still don?t really like. Maybe it?s just the lighting, but the diamonds in her ring consistently photograph as a really weird/ugly yellowish color. Us Weekly reports that during Jolie?s appearance, she spoke with ?young actors, directors, screenwriters, producers and film critics from the region about her own writing and directorial debut.? One of the students said they were ?impressed? and Angelina even fielded questions about her work with the UNHCR. Here’s some footage from the event (her nails look crazy!!!!):

Yes, even more photos from the English cow pasture that IS the set of Angelina Jolie?s latest film, Maleficent. How much of this film is going to take place in a cow pasture? How much of Maleficent?s backstory involves doing evil sh-t to cows while wearing a sack-cloak OF DOOM?!? Still, bitch is flying so I shouldn?t have any complaints, right? She?s wearing her sack, she?s got horns, she?s chilling with the cows and she can FLY.
And now another reason to love the Maleficent production ? the twins visit! Knox and Vivienne arrived with their handler/bodyguard/babysitter (?) yesterday and look at how cute they are. So adorable. I think they?re both mini-Brads. I see Brad so strongly in Knox, even though it?s looking more and more like Knox is a ginger. I see Brad in Vivienne too, although I think there?s some Angelina in Vivienne?s face. I?m also amazed by how well-behaved Knox and Viv are. They?re coming up on their fourth birthday next month, and they?re already so mature as to wait patiently, with no drama, for their mother to finish filming. They?re incredibly cute! And I kind of like that Knox has long gingery hair. If he cuts it, you know who he?ll look like? A mini-Fassbender. Keep your eye on Knox, that?s all I?m saying. In about 16 years, that boy is going to AMAZING.
I wonder why poor Fax Cannes Jolie-Pitt never gets to come to the set? They never let that poor child go anywhere.
