Madonna is killing me in these pictures. The Madge graced the lovely Malawi people in her most elegant black and grey sack and Jackie O-style sunglasses on Monday. She first broke ground on the Raising Malawi Academy For Girls, then planted a small tree. A shrub, if you will. She did all of wearing some (lovely) strappy black stilettos. In some of these pictures, it looks like Madge might be losing her balance in the loose-looking dirt. The school is supposed to cost in the neighborhood of $15 million, all of it funded by Madge and Raising Malawi. Also note - The Daily Mail seems to be hinting that Madonna might have been giving off the whiff of colonialism with her Malawi appearance:
As Madonna launched the construction of her school for girls in Malawi, the pop star seemed to channel movie stars from films based in the colonial era.
Evoking Meryl Streep in Out of Africa with her flowing clothes and straw hat in hand, the pop star smiled as she opened the proceedings yesterday.
Madonna wore a silver and black patterned shawl wrapped over a conservative, knee-length black dress.
But as the 51-year-old singer laid the foundation stone of the school she decided she needed no more practical footwear than a pair of strappy black heels.
The singer has previously been criticised by conservative Malawian groups for her
outrageous fashion sense.
Madonna is funding the 9million Raising Malawi Academy, in Chinkhota village, about 15 kilometres outside the Malawian capital Lilongwe.
It is expected to be completed in two years and will admit 500 girls from the small southern African country’s 28 districts.
Holding a colourful bouquet of flowers, she smiled curtly to waiting photographers. The star laughed as she cut a ribbon at the ground-breaking ceremony and was even snapped shovelling earth and planting a tree - despite wearing the high heels.
She said: ‘Growing up in a privileged life, I took education for granted, but coming to Malawi has taught me a lot of things and I have learnt to appreciate what life gives.’
She concluded: ‘People always ask me, “Why did you choose Malawi?” But I have always said: “Malawi chose me”.’
Madonna was accompanied by her four children - daughters Lourdes and Mercy, and sons Rocco and David.
The pop star adopted Mercy from Malawi earlier this year and adopted David from the country in 2008.
Madonna’s Raising Malawi, a charity founded in 2006, helps feed, educate and provide medical care for some of Malawi’s orphans.

The Daily Mail also puts a picture of Meryl Streep in Out of Africa so we can have a little side-by-side colonial comparison. I don?t really see it. But I?d like to see a side-by-side comparison of Madonna and Meryl in The Devil Wears Prada. Yeah? Madge wishes. As for the whole ?Madge is a neo-colonialist? thing, I?m not really buying that either. I mean, I do think her Raising Malawi organization is sketchy, and I do think Madge is a raging narcissist, but I really do think she?s trying to help in her own way. She doesn?t expect the Malawians to crown her queen or anything. She seems to want to give back, and I can?t bash her for that.

Making the most of her time in Malawi, Madonna was spotted planting a Moringa tree, also known as the “miracle tree” near the Malawian capital of Lilongwe today (October 26).
The Material Girl looked to be in good spirits as she celebrated the construction site of her new academy for girls, located in Chinkhota village.
And during her time in Malawi, Madge will be meeting up with the biological father of her adopted daughter Mercy James.
A source told press, “Madonna wants to meet Mr. Kambewa because she does not want to deny Mercy her background. Madonna wants to assure Mr. Kambewa that Mercy will not be delinked from her roots.”

She’s heading off to Malawi to commission a new $15 million school, and Madonna has announced that she’ll also meet up with her daughter Mercy James’ biological father James Kambewa.
The “Like a Virgin” songstress feels that it is important to familiarize herself with Mercy’s background in order to provide her with a well-rounded life.
An inside source revealed, “Madonna wants to meet Mr. Kambewa because she does not want to deny Mercy her background. Madonna wants to assure Mr. Kambewa that Mercy will not be delinked from her roots.”
However, Mercy’s uncle Peter Baneti says that Kambewa is merely an opportunist who never cared about the girl until Madonna came along.
“We do not recognize Kambewa as Mercy’s father. He just came out of the woodwork to claim paternity while he was not there when my sister was pregnant.”

Still working together despite their divorce, Madonna and Guy Ritchie teamed up at the Kabbalah Centre in London on Saturday afternoon (October 24).
With Lourdes, Mercy and David all along for the outing, the group headed past awaiting photogs as they ventured inside for the day’s activities.
Meanwhile, Madge recently opened up about her split from Richie while chatting with Rolling Stone magazine.
Of the split, she tells, “What can you say? It was a challenging year. I think work saved me, and I’m very grateful that I had work to do. I may have thrown myself off a building. Life is an adjustment. It’s different. My sons aren’t with me right now, they’re with their father, and I’m not very comfortable with the idea of my children not living together. There are pros and cons, but I feel good now.”

Decked out in black, a stylish-looking Madonna was spotted making her way around London, England on Wednesday (October 21).
Sporting a sexy straight hairdo, the Material Girl was chauffeured off from her home to a nearby hotel with the company of security staffers.
The sighting comes as a woman filed a complaint to the New York State Supreme Court about the pop star rehearsing too loudly while at her Manhattan apartment.
In the court filing, Karen George accuses Madge and her invited guests of “repeatedly dancing and/or training to unreasonable high decibel amplified music.”
She is seeking reparations from the management company of the Manhattan building after they failed to act on previous complaints.

Madonna is in trouble, and frankly I just don?t understand why. Her neighbors have been complaining for years about what a nightmare she is ? and it?s like? what?s wrong with them? Don?t they know they?re living next to a legend? Don?t they realize they should feel honored to receive anything from her at all, be in a nod in the hallway or the reverberations of her unreleased music? Some people are so ungrateful.
Last November, neighbors in Madge?s Upper West Side apartment building started complaining about the ridiculous, unbearable levels of noise she was subjecting them to for hours at a time, at all hours of the day. She had sued the co-op board in order to buy the apartment, which was adjacent to one she already owned. That?s right, they already disliked her enough to try to prevent her from buying more space in the building. She promptly turned it into a recording and dance studio, though she was required to give the building a schedule of when she?d be doing either of these noisy activities. However she hasn?t stuck to it at all, and residents have literally had to deal with blaring drums in the middle of the night.
Now one gutsy neighbor at the Harperley Hall apartments is taking on Madonna, via the co-op board. She?s suing the board for not getting Madge to shut the hell up ? and the result may well be the Material Girl?s eviction.
Living above a musical icon apparently isn’t as fun as one might imagine, according to Madonna’s Manhattan neighbour, who has filed a lawsuit alleging the pop singer uses her flat as a rehearsal studio.
Karen George, who lives above Madonna in a ritzy Central Park West building, filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday against the building’s co-op board, accusing it of not taking sufficent action against Madonna for excessive noise and disruption.
According to the lawsuit, neighbours have to deal with “blaring music, stomping and shaking walls” from Madonna’s $4-million US, seventh-floor apartment for up to three hours a day.
George also complained that “Madonna and one or more of her invited guests repeatedly dance and train… to unreasonably high-decibel, amplified music, causing noise and vibration to pour through the walls, ceilings and radiators.”
Officials representing the board say they have already threatened the entertainer with eviction if she didn’t contain the noise. The complaints started more than a year ago as she prepared for her Sticky and Sweet world tour.
Representatives for the singer have not issued comment.

Yay! Sorry but it?s hard to have any sympathy for Madonna in this one. Actually that?s fair to say about Madge on the whole. But I have yet to hear any explanation for her behavior. Madonna will do what Madonna wants to do, and the rest of you can just deal with it. How uptight are you, grandma, that you can?t handle a little drumming and some cymbals at 3:23 in the morning?
There have been off and on reports that Madonna has purchased a townhouse, and while that?s a better idea, it?s not a complete solution. Even with the nicest ones in NYC, there?s almost no space between them. Maybe a few feet at the most ? 3 a.m. drumming is still going to be a problem. She won?t have shared walls and floors with people (how badly do you feel for the person living under Madonna?s practice space?), but loud thumpy Paul Oakenfold beats are still loud thumpy Paul Oakenfold beats. Just a little less so. Madonna?s best solution is probably building a place from scratch, and having it soundproofed. Or, you know, just plan on being an asshole for the rest of her life. Wonder which it?ll be?

I like to joke around about Madonna and Jesus Luz because their dynamic just seems funny to me. I don?t have anything against ?cougars? and their ?cubs? per se, but with Madonna and Jesus is just feels like it?s not even about an older woman getting her rocks off with a young guy. For the Madge Vadge, it just feels like it?s always about the power struggle. And with Jesus, there is no power struggle, like there would be with one of those ?grumpy, fat, balding? men closer to Madge?s age. In the relationship with Jesus, Madge has all the control, all of the intelligence (because Jesus doesn?t seem too bright), all of the power, all of the money. She?s in charge, and everything is about her. And that?s how Madge really gets her rocks off.
We know Madge has the power. And we keep hearing that Madge is a benevolent ruler of her divadom. Last week, Jaybird wrote about the reports that Madge is buying a little $2.5 million New York apartment? for Jesus Luz. Just for a lark, so he?ll have some place to go when the Vadge is done with him. Now In Touch is reporting that Jesus is even getting his own allowance from Madge!
Madonna?s boy toy Jesus Luz knows it pays to stick close to the Material Girl. According to a friend, Jesus, 23, put his modeling career on hold in order to accompany Madonna around the world - and that move is definitely paying off.
?Jesus basically lived paycheck to paycheck before he met Madonna, and he, like most people, had bills,? a friend explains. But now, his money worries are a thing of the past.
?Madonna gives him about $10,000 a month to cover his expenses, including his cell phone, insurance and credit card payments,? adds the pal.

I wonder if Lourdes gets a bigger allowance? Probably not. Anyway, how much do you want to be Madge?s boy toy? I have to admit, I?m no hooker or anything, but that sounds like a sweet deal. Put it all on the table - $10 K a month, plus a rumored $2.5 million apartment - and all you had to do was hang out with Madge for a few months, play with her cute kids, pose like Zoolander for the paparazzi and occasionally do some sex stuff with Madge. I?d do it. I kind of hate myself for admitting it publicly, but I would totally do it.

Yeah, no such luck. Madonna may have thought about throwing herself off a building, but she has so much to live for. No, not her kids or anything, but her work. Daily Mail says,
She may have a tough exterior but Madonna has admitted she took a real blow during her divorced from director Guy Ritchie last year.
The 51-year-old revealed she was distracted only by her work, which included a gruelling world tour.
‘It was a challenging year,’ she says. ‘I may have thrown myself off a building. I think work saved me and I’m very grateful that I had work to do.’
I doubt any harm would have come if she did happen to throw herself off a building. I’ve always said she resembles a muscular spider, and you never know, she might be hiding some spinnerets under those black vinyl bodysuits. Peter Parker ain’t got nothin’ on her!

Jaybird already covered part of Madonna?s new Rolling Stone cover interview yesterday, but this thing is huge, and Madge covered a lot of subjects. For a refresher, Jaybird covered the parts of the interview where Madge talked about Lady Gaga (?I see myself in Lady Gaga?), and Madge?s own early hits (?I feel retarded singing ?Into the Groove??). Rolling Stone hasn?t released the entirety of the interview, they?re just releasing drips and drabs here and there, but I have to say, I think this is one of the most exhaustive interviews Madge has ever done. Here are some more of the highlights:

I actually liked Madge in this interview. She?s a lot better when she doesn?t edit herself or get too uptight about what she shouldn?t or won?t say. Trust me, I?ve read some absolutely horrific interviews with Madge (like Vanity Fair?s 2008 epic fail cover story) where she basically snipes ?yes? or ?no? at the reporter in between pontificating on why she?s so great. Could it be that Madge is turning a wee bit softer in her fifties?
