Katy Perry covers November’s W magazine where they did the worst thing one could do when one has Katy Perry for a photoshoot. Style her as a 60?s pinup model which means cover her up like she was an Amish hooker. Yeesh. Even my grandpa would call me gay for looking at these pictures. He’s really homophobic.

Katy Perry covers the December issue of Glamour UK to promote Prism. I don’t know what’s going on with me lately with Katy. I’m actually warming to her “music,” but this cover reminds me of everything that ever annoyed me about Katy Perry. The quirky hairdo, the kicky feathers, and the oh-so-precious hand placement — it’s all so wrong. The cover boasts a headline about “sex, success & surviving her darkest days,” which means she’ll probably trash Russell Brand again in the interview. Glamour hasn’t released excerpts yet but has revealed that Katy says she’d only be friends with Rusty “in another lifetime.” There you have it.
Katy also sat down with NPR, which describes her as “the biggest pop star in the world” (someone had better warn Miley Cyrus about that). Many topics of discussion came to the forefront, but the most interesting detail is how Katy feels about pop stars who use their sexuality to make it big. Ahem:
On writing “Roar”: “I was living in a little bit of fear. And I just kind of just listened to myself and I thought, you know what, I need to kind of find that inner strength again ’cause I had just been through a real, a little bit of a self-confidence shattering in my own personal life. And so I was just looking for my voice again, and that came out as a roar.”
Her thoughts on “other” pop stars: “Well, I think I like to be an inspiration. I think when you set out to be an artist, first and foremost – a musician, a rock ‘n’ roller – you don’t come with this kind of, like, hey, I also want to be a role model that, obviously, will let you down because I’m a human being. And a lot of people see me as a role model but I’d like to kind of turn that around and say I appreciate that but I’d like to be seen as an inspiration. Because a role model, I think, will fail you. I mean, I couldn’t tell kids when it’s time for them to try things or do things. I mean, that’s not my role. But, you know, it’s funny. I do see myself becoming this, whatever, inspiration out of default right now, ’cause it’s such a strange world. Like females in pop – everybody’s getting naked. I mean, I’ve been naked before but I don’t feel like I have to always get naked to be noticed. But it’s interesting to see…
“I’m not talking about anyone in particular. I’m talking about all of them. I mean, it’s like everybody’s so naked. It’s like put it away. We know you’ve got it. I got it too. I’ve taken it off for – I’ve taken it out here and there. And I’m not necessarily judging. I’m just saying sometimes it’s nice to play that card but also it’s nice to play other cards. And I know I have that sexy card in my deck but I don’t always have to use that card. And especially like with this new song called “Unconditionally” that’s on the record.”
On getting back onstage: “Lately, I’ve been all ritualed up because I’m trying to build endurance for being back on stage, ’cause I was kind of off the stage for a year and ate a lot of fatty foods and, you know, got a little plump. And that was OK. But now it’s time to get back in the game. Sometimes I do this thing called transcendental meditation that helps. So, that’s kind of my ritual.”
On being a pop star: “It’s a balancing act. It’s like dancing and running and jumping and sleeping all on a balancing beam. But it’s super fun and sometimes you get a great soundtrack to go along with that dance.”

Katy also sat down with a French television program to further elaborate on her position: “I really like all of my focus and attention to be on my music. I’m 28 now and I’m an old lady, so I keep my clothes on!” Says the girl who — just five years ago — stroked a kitty while singing about getting it on with another girl. Says the girl who posed naked (with only a cotton candy cloud to cover her “modesty”) on the Teenage Dream album cover. Says the girl who shot whipped cream out of her boobs. And so on.

Dressed down for a leisurely day Down Under, Katy Perry and friends went shopping on Crown Street in Surry Hills, Sydney on Sunday (October 27).
The "Roar" singer wore her hair pulled back in a grown sweater, red floral top, and black jeans with her black Chucks as the group headed to a local pub afterwards.
On Friday, the peppy pop star celebrated her 29th birthday, tweeting, "Wow. What an incredible day full of 3am starts, different cities, birthday cakes, good friends & drifting in & out of sleep! Thank u for... An incredible birthday & all ur birthday messages. I saw so MANY of them & my ? was filled with so much ? I have the best friends & fans!"
Sharing a collage of the gals together on Instagram, Rihanna sent her best wishes, writing, "Happy Birthday to my lover and friend !! I miss you so much!! I love the phuck outta you!! I hope I could squeeze on you soon!! #KatyAnna @katyperry."

Getting back to her formative years, Katy Perry showed up at Lakewood High School in Lakewood, California for a very special performance on Friday morning (October 25).
The ?I Kissed a Girl? songstress sang ?Roar? as part of a live broadcast on ?Good Morning America,? as well as ?Walking on Air,? and ?Firework.?
Perry chose Lakewood for her morning concert after they won her ?Roar? contest- a competition for high schools to show their spirit by lip-synching to the single and submitting a video.
As an added bonus, Katy was celebrating her birthday! She told Sam Champion, "I'm 29 and I feel great! I still feel like I'm 13 sometimes. Obviously, you can tell by my music and my spirit!"

Her brand new album Prism hit stores yesterday, and last night (October 22) Katy Perry celebrated with a very special shindig in Los Angeles.
The ?Roar? singer joined host Mario Lopez on stage at the iHeartRadio album release party, and during her interview she made some interesting admissions.
When asked what she keeps in her purse, Katy confessed, ?The first time I was at the Grammys, I shared a dressing room with Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift
Tea Leoni. I asked for a lock of hair from each. I put little bows around them and put them in my empty purse and carried it around with me. That was really creepy, but awesome. And that?s my secret. And I?m a freak.?
And it turns out, the ?Hannah Montana? actress? digits are the most high-profile in Katy?s phone. ?She?s the most famous person in the world right now.?

Katy Perry’s abundant rack covers the November issue of W magazine to promote this week’s Prism release. The album will do very well, and most of us won’t understand why even it’s selling so well — even though “Roar” is growing in earworm status for all of us. W crowned Katy as “America’s biggest export” who “sings the language of sex and empowerment.” This is certainly a strange declaration about a pop star who recently stated how she’s “always getting kicked and rising from the ashes or something.”
Even though Katy is an empty vessel as a subject, this photoshoot is strangely mesmerizing. I don’t like sweaters (too itchy) or Pink (too stereotypical), but I kind of love how Katy is wearing this Pink sweater.
Not to mention this particular sweater. Katy looks so glamorous here. Let’s do some excerpts, shall we?
On the meaning of “Roar”: “I do love a good innuendo. Mom and Dad know what this song means, but just sing along, kids–you won’t know what these lyrics are about for another 10 years. This song is about sticking up for yourself. People talk about bullying, but you can be your own bully in some ways. You can be the person who is standing in the way of your success, and that was the case for me. I was having a great professional streak, but personally, I was really immature, so I had to balance those things out.”
“Roar” is about Rusty: “If you are not happy with something, you should change it. So I went to a lot of therapy, and finally, I am able to speak up for myself: You are going to hear me roar!”
Her favorite song ever: “‘Killer Queen,’ by Queen. I was 15. Of course, I had heard music before that, but nothing had really struck a chord with me until that song. I was hanging out with my friend Morgan in Santa Barbara, my hometown. We were over at her house–she was that friend, the one that you idolize and maybe even have a weird obsession-slash-crush on. We were standing on her bed, wearing her clothes–because her clothes were cooler–and she put on ‘Killer Queen.’ My world froze. It was a very cinematic feeling, and it opened up this lyrical world.”
Her own teenage style: “My style icons were Gwen Stefani, when she was in No Doubt, and then Shirley Manson in Garbage.”
Is she religious now? “I try and keep my connection with the G-O-D or with a power that’s bigger than me. It?s important–otherwise, you don?t have any kind of accountability. If you think, Hey, at the end of it all I am just going to be dust, or I have no soul or whatever, why not just be a menace to society? For me, accountability works.”
On her early record-contract days: “Yes. I was a little entitled, a little bratty. I was living in Beverly Hills, and a big famous producer had taken me under his wing. I was getting a monthly allowance–I had a Louis Vuitton key chain for my Jetta! I thought I was the bee?s knees. But it didn?t last: I got dropped from my record label. And the Jetta was impounded. And I couldn?t pay my bills. I suddenly heard no more often than yes. As cheesy as it sounds, the rejection built a lot of character in me. It takes strength to stick around in this business. And I have always been highly ambitious.”
Does she want to be a movie star? “Yes, but I hate mornings. So I told some executives who had asked me whether I wanted to act that if you want to start shooting at 11 a.m., then I?m your girl. Otherwise, I?m not interested. I live a rock-star kind of life where I don?t go to bed until 4 a.m. I?m very nocturnal. But I always say that if Ridley Scott wants to hire me for Blade Runner 2 to play Rachael, I am absolutely available.”
What movie makes her cry? “The Notebook. And Titanic. And I always cry on planes. My boyfriend [John Mayer] and I call them ‘deprivation tubes’: You have a glass of wine, and you?re watching a movie, and then, wahhhh.”
Who’s her crush? “I actually am dating my crush. I had a crush on him for a long time, and it just so happens we fit together great.”
Did she like being married? “Of course. I really loved it. It was a new, fun, exciting journey. But I like how I am now, and I think all things happen for a reason.”

OMG, Katy actually named John Mayer as her crush in this interview. What a way to feed into the douche ego. Dare I say that Katy could do a lot better than John Mayer? Yeah I said it. Katy deserves a lot better than him, but it is excellent news that she doesn’t really want to be a movie star as previously reported.

Katy was celebrating her successful performance on The X Factor results show earlier on Sunday and was joined by her pal Anna and boyfriend John Mayer as they partied into the early hours of Monday morning.

Stepping out for a swanky date night, Katy Perry and John Mayer visited Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Chelsea, London on Friday (October 18).
The "Roar" singer looked pretty in a pale Pink knee-length dress and matching purse while her man suited up for the occasion.
Currently, the 28-year-old pop star's upcoming album, PRISM, is being streamed in full on her official website.
Stoked for the release, Katy tweeted, "I'm really excited to share these songs with you all...I'm so proud of them. Will u let me know what u think & how they make u feel please?" PRISM hits record stores on October 22nd.

Showing some love to her English fans, Katy Perry headed over to The London Studios on Thursday evening (October 17) in London, England.
The ?I Kissed a Girl? singer looked gorgeous in a silver and black patterned floor-length dress and matching black boots as she joined fellow guests Paul McCartney, Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and James Corden on ?The Graham Norton Show.?
Katy has been a busy lady as of late given that her new album Prism is slated to drop this Tuesday, October 22nd.
