Katy Perry led the subpack at last night’s Elle Style Awards ceremony. Katy won Elle’s Woman of the Year award, and she’s the only one, out of the group covered in this post, who actually tried to bring it. Did she succeed? We shall see. Katy wore Vivienne Westwood Gold Label, and I find it hard to diss any Westwood dress. Westwood is one of my favorite designers, but here, the dress comes up slightly short in comparison to most Westwood designs.
Don’t let me overstate the negative. I do dig this dress a lot. The fabric is sumptuous, and the rose print is fun and quirky without being obnoxious. What messes things up is Katy’s hair. She’s obviously wearing a wig. In two weeks, Katy’s hair will be much longer, but that will be a wig too. I do like Katy’s silver shoes, and her makeup looks slightly more natural than usual. Such a shame that the wig makes her look two decades older than her true age.
Jessie J chose a fuschia Tom Ford mini dress and dominatrix-styled boots that looked like they were ripped straight from the Contempo Casuals racks. This dress highlights her amazing body, but that trait isn’t necessary for a style show. Jessie J has also gone in for some extensions too. Wasn’t her head completely shaved only a year ago?
Suki Waterhouse is tired, y’all. She’s been shuttling between the BAFTAs and London Fashion week. Suki was named Model of the Year and wore Burberry Prorsum. Earlier this week, she strutted down the Burberry catwalk and showed off her bum while Bradley Cooper enthusiastically chatted up Anna Wintour. Hmm.
Pharrell Williams left his crazy mountie hats at home, and he forgot his socks too. His wife, Helen Lasichanh, is much more interesting. She changed up her hair and looks cute in hot pink. Pharrell looks like he thought too much about his shiny, seaweed-green pants.
Kylie Minogue went with the always reliable little black dress. She’s preparing to release a new album, Kiss Me Once, on March 18.

Katy Perry and John Mayer are still keeping up their charade of a romance well into the new year. I’m amazed, really, that they are still together. These two lovebirds stepped out for a coupley date on Valentine’s day. We don’t have the photos, but you can see them here. Go look — you can see Katy’s new bobbed hair (wig?) and quirky tiara.
In those photos, Katy is wearing a ring on her very important finger. We’re supposed to carefully debate the appearance of this ring right now. What does it mean? I think it means Katy wants us to see the ring and wonder whether she and Johnny boy are engaged. They’re not. They are SO not engaged. Katy pulled this stunt last Valentine’s day too when John gave her a ruby ring that looked like costume jewelry. This is their little mutual game. It keeps John in the headlines and makes Katy feel important, like she’s “tamed” another bad boy.
Here are some photos of John being honored at the UCLA Head & Neck Surgery Luminary awards. Remember, he had that throat granuloma removed a few years ago? He looks stoned.

The Roar singer who is currently dating John Mayer… was presented with the flowers during Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ performance of Same Love as over 30 couples simultaneously wed.
Perry wrote: ‘Congrats to all the #samelove couples tonight. You had me in tears of joy for y’all! Also… Look who caught the bouquet!!! #okuuuurrrr (sic).’

Katy Perry didn’t win any awards at last night’s Grammys (she was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance and performed “Dark Horse”), but she scored pretty well in the style department. Katy went with a Valentino Couture gown that looked a bit like a contemporary ball gown. I thought it was a beautiful white frock that fit into Katy’s usual quirky pattern but was also appropriate for the Grammys because of the musical note pattern on the skirt. She looked gorgeous here with less makeup than usual and a dramatic braided updo. Her hair was likely fake, but she still pulled this look off.
Notice that Katy isn’t showing as much skin as she usually does. She got in trouble last year for violating the dress code with her rack on display. So Katy went with a sheer skirt, which was a way to show off her legs and still stay within the code. Where was John Mayer? Who knows. He was probably pouting for lack of nominations.
Here’s Chrissy Teigen with John Legend. She’s wearing Johanna Johnson, and he’s in a Gucci suit. I like the contrast of Chrissy’s super dazzling, gold gown with underdone, beachy hair. She’s just gorgeous, and the smokey eyes and nude lip are perfect. Chrissy and John were photobombed by Neil Patrick Harris last night!
Bonnie McKee wore Gustavo Cadile on the red carpet. The royal blue dress is fine even if it’s a little dull. I guess Bonnie decided to bring the drama with her hair, which is amazing in its awfulness. She went full-on ombre with a flaming orange that cascaded into petal pink. This is an example of everything that is wrong with an ombre trend. You really have to see a back view for the full effect.
Amber Rose wore Naeem Khan. Amber’s dress doesn’t look as good in these photos as it did on the red carpet. I think the color suits her well, and she went with minimal makeup (and hair, obviously) so as not to overpower all of the shiny gold. She could have gone with a bolder lip shade. Amber accessorized with Wiz Khalifa, who was probably super bummed that he wasn’t the highest person in the house (Willie Nelson was by a long shot). Nah, he didn’t care.

It seems like forever since Katy Perry wore anything less than a dress on the cover of any magazine, but here she is on the cover of GQ wearing a bikini. About time. Sheesh.
The accompanying article isn’t all that interesting. It was written during the time of her controversial performance at the American Music Awards where she did that Geisha themed version of”Unconditionally.” Your standard insight into Katy Perry stuff. Though there is one part where she reveals how she got those massive breasts.
?I lay on my back one night and looked down at my feet, and I prayed to God. I said, ?God, will you please let me have boobs so big that I can?t see my feet when I?m lying down?? ? At age 11, ?God answered my prayers,? she says, glancing south. ?I had no clue they would fall into my armpits eventually.?

2013 was the year we learned that Clint Eastwood?s son Scott looks like a frat-boy version of Clint. We also learned that Scott Eastwood can look extremely hot from some angles, and not so much from other angles. Like, his Town & Country photoshoot was amazing, and he looked totally bangable. Then, in red carpet photos, Scott just looked? blah. So, it really does depend on the angles and the lighting. Still, Town & Country is still pushing Scott ? probably because they still have more photos of him that they wanted to publish. Scott made T&C?s ?Top 50 Bachelors? edition. Scott is #1. Seriously. And so there?s a new interview. Scott might be a nice guy, but maybe not so much with the talking.
On the commotion his shirtless T&C photo shoot caused: ?I heard some things. But, to be honest, I was in London filming a movie [the World War II drama Fury] and didn?t pay much attention. These things come and go. No one will remember six months from now.?
On the lessons his parents taught him: ?My father taught me not to overthink things, that nothing will ever be perfect, so just keep moving and do your best. My mother taught me to be honest, to be selfless, and to touch people in a positive way.?
On the type of woman he likes to date: ?The kind who?s not afraid to be alone, who leaves her phone at home.?
On his Fury costar, Brad Pitt: “He?s a kind and humble person, which is everything in this world.” Eastwood aspires to Pitt’s career not only because “he’s a great actor, but because he’s proactive about developing material and getting stuff made.”
He?s not a thespian: “I love acting, but I’m not a thespian. I want to be a man’s man, not a glitzy pop star.” That doesn’t preclude, however, an appreciation for glitzy pop stars. “I love Katy Perry and Rihanna,” he admits, confessing with something approaching glee that he sings along to their songs.

I love it when people proudly proclaim that they don?t ?overthink things.? I?m not promoting my particular brand of neurosis, but to me, saying that you ?don?t overthink things? is like saying you can?t be bothered to expand your education or pay attention to anything more complicated than The Bachelor. As for Scott not wanting to be a pop star? yeah, we?ll see. Scott also wanted people to think he was up for the Christian Grey role, so there is part of him that just wants to be famous for fame?s sake.
