Kate Hudson covers the December/January issue of Harper?s Bazaar (US). Some days? I feel like the only person who actually likes and appreciates Kate Hudson. I?m not saying Kate is, like, Meryl Streep or anything, but I think Kate is good at what she does (rom-coms, mostly) and as I always say, I like her personality. She?s a sunny optimist without ever being cloying. She never wallows in self-pity. She never bitches out her critics. She just does her own thing and she?s happy. It?s surprisingly refreshing. Anyway, you can read Kate?s Bazaar interview here, and here are some highlights:
Her work ethic: ?I do have the work ethic, of when you show up to something, you do it.?
She loves to exercise: ?It really is a vital part of my day in terms of energy. And I mean just by putting a sports bra on.? She starts to laugh. ?Then maybe you?ll do something! Even if it?s a few squats in the backyard and back to the couch.? She doesn?t have a strict routine?sometimes SoulCycle, dance, hot yoga. ?I wish I was more structured than I am. I could probably be better at that in life.?
She loves fashion: ?Balmain too. That stuff is good.? She wore a beaded denim Balmain minidress to this past summer?s premiere of Clear History. ?It was a bit intimidating,? she recalls. ?The workmanship is amazing. It brought me back to being a little girl looking at anything sparkly.? Her favorite red-carpet look this year is the black-and-gold Alexander McQueen dress she wore to the Golden Globes, ?and a red Stella McCartney and a red Prabal Gurung. I haven?t really done Valentino yet,? she adds, ?but I want to.?
But she doesn?t own all of the fancy dresses she wears: ?People think we own all these dresses, but we borrow them! I can?t afford to buy that stuff. There are certain things I splurge on, but it?s very rare, especially when you have two kids and school tuition. I?m not a big high-end fashion shopper. I wish I could but the truth is things are just so expensive. Before Isabel Marant was a million dollars and famous, I used to go to her store in Paris and go crazy, it was so affordable.?
Raising kids in Hollywood: ?My mom wasn?t a big shopper for us. I think they wanted to instill that in us even though we grew up in a really privileged and lucky lifestyle.? As for Ryder, all he wants is a cell phone. ?I see his friends texting people, and I just can?t do it,? Hudson says. ?The first device I got was a pager!? She bursts out laughing. ?I was 13, and it was hot pink.?
Branding Kate Hudson: ?I really think that if I?m going to put my effort into something, I want to reach a larger amount of women, where they can afford the things I?m selling. Especially with the economy, it doesn?t make sense to me anymore.?
Authentic girls: ?I like people who are true to themselves: Rooney Mara, I always look forward to seeing; I like her style. Carey Mulligan always wears interesting things, Kerry Washington??? Ask her about pop stars and the undressing thereof, and she replies, ?Eh, I don?t care. I like little clothes actually.? Even though Hudson?s a mother, she still likes to rock it. ?No clothes?? She laughs. ?I like that too.?

I never thought that Kate Hudson (or any celebrity/Fashion Girl) actually owned the dresses and gowns they wear on the red carpet, but it?s a leap to go from ?we borrow the designer stuff for special events? to ?I can?t afford to buy that stuff. There are certain things I splurge on, but it?s very rare, especially when you have two kids and school tuition.? Kate has been doing more independent films lately, for sure, but she still gets hired for studio films where I?m sure she?s still making seven-figures easily. Plus endorsement deals! Celebrity Net Worth has her at $38 million. Is she really crying poverty? Or is she just saying that she doesn?t WANT to afford all of the designer clothes?

She?s not in a huge hurry to tie the knot with fianc Matt Bellamy, but Kate Hudson's son Ryder Robinson is beginning to lose his patience.
During her chat on ?The Ellen DeGeneres Show,? the ?Fool?s Gold? gal admitted that her 9-year-old boy isn?t happy that she hasn?t said ?I Do? yet.
Kate noted, "I think he looks forward to more the party than actually the idea of us getting married. He seems to, like, have it really planned out what he's wearing."
"He apparently he wants to wear a neon-green tux. He loves neon green. He wants to wear neon green with black. That's pretty cool. He's a bit of a fashion boy."

Putting her starpower to work for a good cause, Kate Hudson spoke at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York City on Wednesday (September 25).
The "Almost Famous" star looked beautiful and vibrant on stage in a cream blouse and black blazer as she joined political leaders, CEOS, and philanthropists to help find solutions to the world's major problems.
Working with Ann Taylor on its ANNPower initiatives, the 34-year-old actress talked about working to further women leadership around the world.
Established in 2005, CGI members have made more than 2,300 commitments, which have improved the lives of over 400 million people in more than 180 countries.

She's long been swooning over musicians and this weekend Kate Hudson has plenty to swoon over at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas (September 20).
With her partner Matt Bellamy and his band Muse about to hit the stage, the "Almost Famous" star hit the red carpet in a form-fitting black top, matching skinnies, and a leather belt.
Dressed in a purple satin romper for her duties, the 34-year-old actress served as a presenter at the show.
That evening, Katy Perry, Queen, Adam Lambert, Fun., Keith Urban, Muse, Chris Brown, and more all took the stage at the huge event.

For whatever reason, Kate Hudson was more interested in showing off her gigantic purse?as opposed to her face?on the set of her new movie, ?Wish I Was Here? Friday (August 30) in Los Angeles.
Donning a pretty yellow dress, the actress used her tribal print handbag to hide from the pesky paparazzi. (Apparently her oversized sunglasses weren?t big enough.)
The new movie, which also stars Ashley Greene and Zach Braff, is a project that writer/director Braff financed through a Kickstarter campaign.
Goldie Hawn?s daughter has been staying in shape by following a strict work out regimen, according to her trainer Nicole Stuart. She explained, ?We do Pilates for an hour, three times a week. If she?s prepping for something it?ll be more. We always combine cardio?like a mile run?before a Pilates class. On off days, she?ll meet me for yoga or a spin class.?
The 34-year-old mother of two will also be appearing soon in ?Good People? and ?Born to Be King.?

Finishing up her work week, Kate Hudson filmed scenes for "Wish I Was Here" in Los Angeles on Friday (August 16).
The "Almost Famous" star looked cute in dark-rimmed glasses, a blue sweater, black pants, and flip-flops as she studied her script on the set.
When not flexing her acting chops, the 34-year-old actress is working up a sweat with the help of another famous face.
"Dancing with the Stars" pro Derek Hough shared to E! News, "I've been working with Kate Hudson a little bit lately for fun?just dancing for fun, giving her some lessons.She's become a good friend and she's great.I would love for her to do the show, but she would never. She's fantastic. But I want her to maybe do a guest spot."

Showing off her hot mama bod, Kate Hudson took a break from a video shoot on the beach in Santa Barbara, California on Thursday (August 1).
The "Almost Famous" star looked fit as a fiddle in a black sports bra, cropped black workout tights, and bare feet as she held her son Bingham on her hip.
Recently, the 34-year-old actress divulged her own brush with the royals as the world goes gaga over Prince George. With her mom being Goldie Hawn, famous faces were likely to drop by their home.
Sharing the little connection she has with the Princes, Kate explained, "Prince William and Prince Harry actually stayed at our house in Colorado when they were kids. We were all in L.A. and they were staying with their mom at the time and we get this phone call at the house. Sure enough, I think it was Prince William calling my dad to ask if he could use the ATVs, the four-wheeler things." Afterwards, "My dad goes, 'That's a really well-raised boy.' It was pretty cool."

Kate Hudson wore a patchwork denim minidress from the Balmain Resort 2014 collection (strike TWO, Balmain Resort 2014!) to the “Clear History” premiere yesterday in Hollywood, and if the words “patchwork denim minidress,” didn’t already tip you off, it’s hideous. The top half is boxy and shapeless, the bottom half’s too short, and the entire thing screams Happy Hands at-home craft circle. It’s nice that the dress has built in hip holsters for her six-shooters, though. You can’t wear a dress made of bedazzled denim oven mitts and not expect to get attacked at some point in the evening.
