Since Jessica Simpson doesn’t do much else these days, the tabloids have had to satisfy themselves with rampant speculation about her impending marriage to slacker Eric Johnson. First, there was the theory that Jessica had developed cold feet over those upcoming nuptuals with her “annoying K-Fed.” Yet almost immediately afterward, the word came out that Jessica was excitedly splashing out over $1 million on an 11/11/11 wedding in Hawaii. Next up, an alleged wrench has been tossed into the couple’s happiness, for In Touch reports that Jessica’s dad has begged his oldest daughter not to marry Eric because “[h]e fears his little girl is rushing into another bad marriage.” No kidding, right?
Wedding dress shopping? Check. Rings? Check. Location? Check. Seal of approval from the father of the bride? Not so much. Though Joe Simpson was intially a fan of Jessica Simpson’s fiance, Eric Johnson, the overprotective dad is now singing a different tune. It seems Eric’s unemployed status — the former pro-football player was in grad school for business before dropping out after meeting Jess — is causing some major concern: “It bothers Joe that Jessica is paying for everything and that Eric really doesn’t have a job,” reveals a friend. So much so that Joe is pressuring Jess to call off the wedding completely! “Joe thinks Jessica can do much better and that’s the bottom line,” adds the payl. Of course, the rift between the two most important men in Jessica’s life is making her upset and feel like she’s trapped in the middle. “Jessica is a daddy’s girl, so it bothers her that Joe no longer approves of Eric,” the friend explains. “She’s really torn.”

There very well could be more than a little bit of truth to this report because — let’s face it — Papa Joe probably doesn’t want any other man to take his place in Jessica’s life. Also, it’s rather bizarre that Jessica picked this guy up, and he immediately dropped out of his graduate-level program just to follow her around the world without any designs towards a career of his own. Still, what does Jessica herself do all day anyway? Sure, she’s supposedly got her fashion “empire” and has those past earnings upon which to live, but the only actions that I’ve ever observed from this girl for the past several years (since her pop star career deflated, unlike those boobs) would be Jessica walking around carrying oversized purses. Literally, that is all she ever does these days, and I don’t think she even has the excuse of carrying a dog around in those bags anymore either. At this point, I think Jessica just wants to be married again more than anything else in the world, and since she’s found a man who’s willing to deal with all of her trappings, Jessica will talk Daddy into giving his blessing for this second marriage. With a massive prenup, natch.

They are as cute as they come, and Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson were spotted out and about in New York City on Friday (June 3).
The paparazzi caught up to the ?Come On Over? singer and her handsome fiance as they made their out of a restaurant after enjoying a nice meal together.
In other news, Jess and sister Ashlee are teaming up and designing a new clothing line directed towards ?tweens.?
Jess told WWD, ?Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand. I?m excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today?s ?tweens.?

I haven?t been paying much attention to Jessica Simpson lately. In my mind, she?s been keeping a much lower profile over the past month, and she?s been taking pains to not shove her engagement to her K-Fed in our faces. It?s been kind of nice. Now, I don?t really think these tabloid stories are Jessica?s doing at all, mostly because they make her look so? pathetic. But there are several tabloid stories this week, so either the tab editors were just bored, or there really is some trouble in gold-digger paradise. First up - a sketchy interview with Eric Johnson?s ex-wife?s aunt. The aunt believes Eric is a famewhore who is only with Jessica for the money and attention. Oh, and the aunt believes her niece (Eric?s ex-wife) is utterly blameless is everything:
Jessica Simpson does not look like an ecstatic bride-to-be - and things may only get worse! Along with a recent public meltdown over her weight struggles, Star has learned from family members close to Eric Johnson?s ex-wife, Keri, that Jessica?s future husband may not have the best intentions.
?I think Eric is marrying Jessica for all the wrong reasons,? Keri?s aunt, Laura Dangelo, tells Star. ?All he is after is fame, and I think he?s probably just using her.?
The troubled six-year marriage between Eric and Keri ended so bitterly that she even returned a dog he gave her as a present!
?Keri is decent, loyal and hard working, their divorce really had to have been because of Eric - he always wanted more fame,? says Laura. ?I believe it was his narcissism that ended their marriage. If he couldn?t make it work with Keri, I don?t know how he?ll make it work with any other girl.?

Look, I don?t think much of Eric either. But I?m not going to automatically believe that his ex is totally innocent and blameless either. Eric and Keri were separated (and headed for divorce) when Eric met Jessica. It?s pretty obvious that in his mind, he was totally available. The way Keri and her family keep going on and on about this stuff looks really cheap and tacky. Besides, I don?t trust a person who refuses to keep a dog that was given to her by her ex. You throw out your ex - not the dog. (Sidenote: that puppy has a new mommy - Jessica has adopted him!)
Next up: In Touch Weekly makes some claims about Jessica?s pre-nup. Remember, she?s a billion-dollar industry! That?s a lot of chilidogs at stake. According to their source, Jessica wants a ?no cheating? clause in the prenup, meaning that if Eric bones somebody else, he gets nothing.
With celebrity couples breaking up left and right - not to mention her own split from Nick Lachey in 2004 - it?s no surprise Jessica Simpson is having fianc Eric Johnson sign a prenup before their November 11 wedding.
But with her billion-dollar empire at stake, Jessica isn?t taking any chances, and has put a strict no-cheating clause in hers.
?Jessica?s biggest fear is that Eric will stray, so she insisted on that specific clause in her prenup,? a friend reveals. This should put a stop to all those dumb blonde jokes, right?
?She?s being fair with Eric in case things don?t work out, but he won?t get anything if he cheats.?

I?ve never really understood those kinds of clauses in prenups. I just don?t get how they?re enforced. Yeah, an affair can and will be used as leverage in a divorce proceeding, but I don?t think some of the specialty clauses really mean much in an actual divorce proceeding.
Last story: Page Six had a funny little item today about Jessica. She ?crashed? a party in NYC, and she was only wearing shorts, a t-shirt, clogs and no makeup. She told Page Six, ?I walked in here with sunglasses on my head, and I was, like, ‘Oh, my! I have no makeup on.?? Then, ?When fotogs asked Jessica to pose, a friend snapped, ?No pictures! She has no makeup on.?? Have you ever seen Jessica without makeup? She?s really pretty. But that?s a Southern thing? a lady should never be photographed without her face on.

Sadly, she lost her dog Daisy to coyotes last year, but Jessica Simpson has taken on co-parenting responsibilities with fiance Eric Johnson and his pup.
"His name's Bentley, he's an Airedale terrier [and] he's adorable," she told People magazine. ?He?s the best dog. I love him to death.?
It wasn?t always honky dory for Jess and Bentley though, as she explained, "At first he would growl at me.?
Miss Simpson added, ?And now he comes and snuggles up to me. It's like I have a brand new dog."

Keeping up with her crazy schedule, Jessica Simpson was spotted catching a flight at LAX International Airport yesterday (May 31).
Ms. Simpson looked to be in good spirits, sporting a summer hat, sunglasses, and a floral dress as she strolled through the terminal.
During a recent interview, Jessica shared that she?s really enjoying all that?s going on as of late, both personally and professionally.
?It?s the best year of my life,? she exclaimed. And when it comes to her wedding plans, ?I absolutely adore Kate Middleton?s dress. I thought she looked absolutely beautiful. There?s no bride that can top a royal wedding. I?m not going to be wearing the same kind of thing, but it will be beautiful in its own right.?

Paying a visit to their lawyer?s office, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson were spotted out in Century City, California yesterday afternoon (May 25).
The pop singing pair were joined by their mother Tina as they attended what ended up being a 9-hour-long meeting.
As for Jessica?s upcoming wedding, the ?Come On Over? babe told press she?s not trying to outdo the newly-married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge?s nuptials.
?I absolutely adore Kate?s dress. I thought she looked absolutely beautiful, there?s no bride that can top a royal wedding. I?m not going to be wearing the same kind of thing, but it will be beautiful in its own right.?
Jessica also noted that she?s hoping to shed some pounds before saying ?I Do.? ?I am going to dance around my bedroom and hopefully lose some weight ? and lift some weights and do what I can!?

Closing out another week with a relaxing midday outing, Jessica Simpson was spotted making her way around New York City on Friday afternoon (May 20).
The "Dukes of Hazzard" darling was looking her usual stylish self as she made her way over to the popular SoHo eatery Balthazar to chow down on lunch with a group of friends.
The sighting comes just after Miss Simpson landed in Star magazine after the tabloid claimed that she had a "drunken breakdown" at Los Angeles bar Eden over weight issues.
Denying any such situation, a source close to Jessica spoke with Gossip Cop while dubbing the story as "ridiculous" and "not true."
The insider added, "She had a great night with a group of friends."

In Touch has some supposedly exclusive details about Jessica Simpson’s wedding plans to her former football player grad school dropout fiance, Eric Johnson. As she did for the courtship, her engagement ring, and their daily life together, Jessica is paying for the destination wedding, and why not? She’s loaded thanks to her fashion line and Eric is her date and companion and that’s about it. At least Jessica has a prenup, if rumors are to be believed.
Well Jessica and Eric got engaged on 11/11/10 and if In Touch is accurate they’ll be married on 11/11/11 at 11:11. It sounds cheesy and superstitious, but I still make a wish when I notice that the clock says it’s 11:11. I don’t schedule my life around numerology or astrology or anything though. Jessica seems to, and she should just trust her instincts and not try to get by with magical thinking. We’ve heard at least two stories this spring that she’s had cold feet. That happens when you just know you shouldn’t go through with it. Jessica is pushing forward, though, and is said to have been inspired and challenged by the royal wedding, and to want to use her wedding to get back in the spotlight.
After months of stalling, Jessica Simpson has finally agreed to an “I do” date - 11:11 a.m. on November 11, 2011- and she plans to ensure that her nuptials with Eric Johnson, 31, become the new wedding of the century!
“Jessica will be spending upward of $1 million, easily,” a source close to the singer, 30, tells In Touch of the splashy affair, which will take place on the romantic Hawaiian island of Kauai.
The surprise announcement is a huge relief to Jessica’s friends, who as In Touch previously reported, had all but given hope that the couple would ever make it to the altar. The reason for Jessica’s sudden wedding fever? It’s a last ditch attempt to revive her career, says another insider. “She was devastated when she didn’t get hired to be a judge on The X Factor….”
Now… inspired by the hysteria surrounding the royal wedding, Jessica has hired [planner] Mindy Weiss to oversee a headline-grabbing event that will help her reclaim the spotlight. “She’s flying more than 50 family members and friends to spend a week partying with her and Eric in Hawaii,” a friend of Jessica’s tells In Touch.
Between Weiss’ fee ($150,000), guests airfares ($50,000), rings ($100,000), hair and makeup ($25,000) and flowers ($10,000), the costs are already staggering. “She’s picking up the tab for everything,” says the friend, who notes that Eric is currently jobless.
Jessica refuses to spare any expense - least of all when it comes to her gown. Referring to the now-iconic Alexander McQueen dress worn by her bridal competition, Kate Middleton, Jessica has thrown down the gauntlet, declaring, “I’ll outdo her!”

You know that Jessica will outdo Kate Middleton by having bigger hair, a more elaborate dress, and a showier wedding. If it’s true that Jessica is trying to use her wedding as a way to wedge back into a show business career good luck with that. Reese scored the cover of People in her wedding gown and it didn’t help her movie at the box office at all.

These are some new photos of Jessica Simpson looking kind of drunk (but not completely blitzed), leaving Mastro?s two nights ago. Jessica decided to show off her thinner body (Body By Tracy Anderson) in a pair of short-shorts that make her look kind of pantless from some angles. I tend to think Jessica is a lot like me with her self-destructive streak about her weight. Whenever I have a good week - like, I?ve been working out a lot and avoiding alcohol and candy, I?ll think ?I deserve a bad night.? And I?ll have a few glasses of wine and eat too many peanut butter M&Ms. I think Jessica is like that - she?s working out, she?s losing weight, and then she undoes her good work because she thinks she ?deserves? to have a bad night.

?A line of popsicles! A popsicle would be really good right now,? Simpson told FOX411?s Pop Tarts column while being honored as Style Icon of the Year at Us Weekly?s Hot Hollywood party on Tuesday evening.
Simpson said popsicles definitely trump a long Broadway run, the timeworn venue for actors and singers looking to leave their comfort zone.
?[I wouldn?t do Broadway] because I like to always switch it up, I can’t stay in a regimen,” she said. “A line of popsicles would be a lot easier.?
Simpson is also busy organizing her upcoming nuptials to former NFL player, Eric Johnson, and but apparently she?s the one putting in the all the work.
?I?m planning my own, who doesn’t plan their own wedding?,” she said. “The best part is that my groom will say ‘I do.’”
Once she’s hitched, her husband may want to watch out, as Simpson plans to go down Nicole Richie’s TMI Twitter route.
?I do love Twitter, and I would say one of my favorite people to follow is Nicole Richie,? she said. ?I think Nicole Richie is always straight up, really funny. She makes me laugh all the time, and she posts cool pics and makes fun of her husband, and I love it.?
