Jessica Simpson finally gave birth to her daughter Maxwell Drew last week, on May 1st. Since the birth, the tabloids have been full of stories based on ?unnamed sources? that sound a great deal like Papa Joe Simpson (especially the stuff about Jessica and breastfeeding, of course). But until now, Jessica hasn?t said anything beyond the official announcement on her website. Last night, Jessica finally tweeted about her baby girl, writing, ?I am so in love with baby Maxwell. I want to cry every time I look at her. Motherhood is by far the best thing I’ve ever experienced.?
[Via Jessica?s Twitter]
She?s so cute. I really do like Jessica, you know. I think she needs a better internal filter so she doesn?t end up giving interviews about her bodily functions, and I?m going to be forever haunted by the visual of her gushing amniotic fluid, but still, I like her. I hope motherhood is everything and more for Jess. Also: what do you think of Jessica using her daughter?s full name, Maxwell? I thought she was going to call her ?Maxi?? Did she have second thoughts?
Life & Style (via HL) also has a source who claims that ?Maxwell looks a lot like her mom: same cheeks and nose! Her hair?s brown, but it?s getting blonder every day.? Yes, because heaven forbid Jessica Simpson give birth to a brunette!!! The (blonde) angels would weep. The friend also says that Jessica is breastfeeding like a champ and she?s changing diapers too: ?She was born for this role.?
And Jessica covers the new issue of Us Weekly.

Yesterday, Jessica Simpson gave birth at long last. It felt like she was gestating for more than a year, especially considering I (correctly) called Bump Watch on Jessica way back in September of last year – because she already looked three months along at that point. It?s totally fun to go back and look at the photos of Jessica in her first trimester – she was showing so early! That?s why people think she was pregnant for so long. As for the name – Maxwell ?Maxi? Drew Johnson – well, there are some complaints. Us Weekly explains why Jessica and Eric chose the name:
Jessica Simpson’s name for her baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson, has received mixed reviews from her fans. But the name is very special to her family! The new mom and her fiance Eric Johnson welcomed Maxwell into the world on Tuesday morning.
Announcing the birth on her website, the singer and designer wrote, “Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby Maxwell Drew Johnson 9 lbs. 13 oz. 21 3/4.”
Both the Johnson and Simpson family names are carried on with the couple’s new daughter. Maxwell is Eric’s middle name and his grandmother’s surname. Maxwell takes her middle name from maternal grandmother Tina Simpson, whose maiden name is Drew.
Without revealing the name, Simpson talked about the baby name in the April issue of Elle saying, “It’s nothing shocking and nothing you’ll have to add to the dictionary. Still, when people hear it they’ll know ? why.”
[From Us Weekly]
Now that I know that it?s a ?family name? I like it a bit more. I like the idea of naming a kid after a grandparent or beloved aunt or something like that. But naming a baby girl her father?s middle name? Eh. I truly thought there would be a more Southern flavor to the name – like, Something Leigh or Magnolia BBQ.
Oh, and Hollywood Life claims Jessica is staying in a three-room maternity suite at Cedar-Sinai in LA at a cost of $3,784 a day. I still think Jessica probably had a C-section.
Us Weekly also has a story in which Jessica?s mother, Tina, was overheard talking about her newborn granddaughter, saying: ?Maxwell is so precious and peaceful.” And just hours before Jessica gave birth, the Simpson family and the Johnson family all had breakfast together. An eyewitness says: ?The party included Joe and Tina Simpson. They all sat at a corner table together and were in good spirits. The family was joking about astrological signs and what traits various family members had, and what the new baby could be like. Tina said she felt Jessica was in good spirits while others joked Eric seemed to be the nervous one.” A May 1st birthday means little Maxi is a Taurus. It?s a good sign – I have a lot of Tauri in my life. They?re all stubborn but generous people.

Circus Tent with Hair Jessica Simpson took to her official site today to announce that after a particularly unpalatable 26 months of gestation, she had finally given birth to a baby girl. People Magazine says:
The star and her fianc Eric Johnson welcomed daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson on May 1.
“Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson,” she wrote. “We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”
The baby weighed in at 9 lbs. 13 oz. and is 21 inches long. Maxwell is Johnson’s middle name, while Drew is Simpson’s mother Tina’s maiden name.
With a name like Maxwell Drew Johnson, it’s a pity that kid wasn’t a boy. Think about it. Then his name would be Max Johnson. Not since “Hugh E. Rection” has there been a name that’s resonated with me on such a personal level!
I just hope all the king’s horses and all the king’s men find a way to put her back together again:

After a two year pregnancy, Jessica Simpson finally pushed out that parasite that’s been feeding off her body. It came out in the form of a screaming 9 pound 13 ounce baby girl named Maxwell Drew Johnson. A pretty lame name. I was hoping she’d name her Macmallan Single Malt Johnson. Alas, it was not to be.Jessica and Eric used Drew because it’s Jessica’s mother’s maiden name.
Jessica wrote on her website, “We are so gratefulforall of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives.”

Jessica Simpson loves to drink. Always has, always will. I imagine that?s one of the reasons she?s been eating so much during her pregnancy – this is the longest she?s gone without a drink in more than a decade. Pre-pregnancy, there were always stories about Jessica getting blitzed at various clubs, but unlike some crackheads we know, I?ve always felt like Jessica probably does not have a drinking problem. In my mind, there?s a difference between ?a person who likes to drink socially, and enjoys a good scotch on the rocks with her expensive meal? and ?a person who drinks and acts like a dumbass and endangers everyone else.? Jessica is the former. The girl especially loves her scotch – and she even has a favorite brand: Macallan 18. But now that Jessica is about to give birth (any second now, hopefully), she?s preparing for her first postpartum drink. And she?s determined that it?s going to be the very best:
Jessica Simpson has instructed her family to forget flowers, candy and balloons when she gives birth – and requested a $500 bottle of scotch! Jessica adores The Macallan 18, but for her special delivery, she asked for The Macallan 30, a single-malt scotch that is aged for a minimum of 30 years.
?That?s Jessica?s champagne,? a friend explains of the hard liquor. ?She stopped drinking as soon as she found out she was pregnant, but couldn?t wait to have a glass of scotch on the rocks.?
[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]
I can honestly picture Jessica wanting to crack open the Macallan 30 while she?s still in the delivery or recovery room. I tend to believe this just because Jessica seems like the kind of woman who hasn?t thought the whole alcohol thing through – like, it?s going to affect her breast milk. Like, that baby girl is going to be drinking White Russians for the first six months of her life.
Incidentally, you know how everyone was saying that Jessica was going to name her daughter something starting with ?M?. In Touch always said it was ?Maxi? and my guess was ?Margarita?. But now I?m wondering if Jessica isn?t going to name her baby girl Macallan Tequila Johnson. Jessica should name her daughter after her beloved scotch. It’s not the worst name at all.
One last thing – Jessica released this lovely video of her baby shower. The food looks awesome!

Over the weekend, there were some rumors that Jessica Simpson had finally given birth to her baby daughter, little Maxi/Margarita Tequila Johnson. Unfortunately for all, it didn?t happen. Jessica Simpson is still pregnant. This actually seems like it?s part of the new schedule – Jessica was just so big, and everyone thought she would be giving birth at any moment? two months ago. But Jessica was telling people that she had one more month to go back in late March. My instinct says it?s going to happen this week. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But Thursday? Sure. Friday – could be. In the meantime, Jessica has taken to Twitter to assure everyone that The Great Flood (Of Amniotic Fluid) is not upon us quite yet. Also: she wants to give birth in a leopard caftan.
Keep saving those congratulations! Jessica Simpson hasn’t given birth yet. The first-time mom-to-be is still awaiting the birth of her baby girl, and while she waits she’s making sure she’ll look fabulous at the hospital.
“I just woke up from a dream that I wore a leopard caftan in the hospital. Fabulous!!” Simpson tweeted Tuesday. “Now I need to find one!”
The 31-year-old Fashion Star mentor and her fiance Eric Johnson are expecting their first child together and fans are very eager for the baby’s arrival.
“To everyone who keeps congratulating me on the birth of my baby girl…I’m still pregnant!!” Simpson tweeted Saturday. “Don’t believe what you read ladies and gents.”
But she’s ready to give birth too — and get back into her normal shoes!
“I can’t wait for the day I can walk in heels again!” she tweeted. “My feet feel homesick!”
[From Us Weekly]
My feelings towards Jessica have been a rollercoaster of emotion. First, I felt overwhelming sympathy for how big she had gotten. Then I was grossed out and turned off by her incessant TMI. Then I went back to feeling defensive on her behalf, because I didn?t (and still don?t) like when people attack her for her oversized pregnancy. Right now I just want it to happen for her, and soon. She must be super-uncomfortable.

| Jessica Simpson: 'Only one month to go! I can't wear heels anymore' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Yesterday, I was reading the print editions of OK! Magazine and Us Weekly, and I noticed that the editors of both tabloids had done stories on Jessica Simpson?s neverending TMI. Both stories were basically just an assortment of quotes from the past month, and seeing it all laid out like that made me realize that it?s just going to get worse after she has the baby. We?ll be hearing about baby poop and epidurals for MONTHS. Prepare yourselves. When she starts talking about the delivery, I?m going to step aside and let CB and Bedhead handle it, because if I try to write about it, I?ll vom.
So Us Weekly has yet another piece about Jessica, but this time it?s just based on what people overheard Jess say. This girl can talk, and she?s telling everybody her business. Including something about how she?s not due for another month? THE HELL?
Jessica Simpson is hitting the home stretch of her pregnancy — and the fashionista is making drastic sacrifices indeed to stay relatively comfortable.
“Only one month to go!” the Fashion Star mentor, 31, was overheard telling a fellow shopper at Fred Segal’s in Santa Monica Tuesday, where she and a pal spent the afternoon. “I can’t wear heels anymore,” lamented the star, clad in a black maxi dress and flip flops. “I tried but it was too hard. Wearing heels is like a religion to me, so it’s tough!”
That means that Simpson (engaged to her daughter-to-be’s father, Eric Johnson) will have to amend her child labor plan. Back in November, the style mogul joked to Us Weekly: “I’m probably going to deliver my baby in [4-inch YSL heels]. . .I went to the doctor yesterday and he said, ‘You’re gonna need to get out of those heels!”
During her Wednesday excursion at Fred Segal, the heavily pregnant star was already plotting her post-pregnancy body goal, eyeing a slim pair of Elliot jeans as she blew big bubbles with her gum.
Cheerful if seemingly exhausted, she chugged Fiji water as she shopped — and while she couldn’t buy clothes for herself, she picked up some togs for her little girl at the Ron Robinson store. Simpson snapped up bloomers, shirts from Le Petit Bateau and a polka dot dress.
“It’s like carrying a bowling ball!” Simpson was overheard saying of her belly. “Almost done!”
[From Us Weekly]
Remember when everyone was like, ?Oh, she?s due in March!? And then Jessica said she was due in a ?few weeks? in mid-March, and everyone was like, ?Oh, early April!? And now it sounds like she might have one more month to go? She?s been so big for so long now. Poor Jess. If I was her, I would be spending a crazy amount of money on my delivery too.

Looking for a little Irish luck before giving birth, a very pregnant Jessica Simpson was spotted enjoying lunch as she celebrated St. Patrick's Day with her family and fiance, Eric Johnson, on Saturday (March 17).
Finally putting on flat boots instead of sky high pumps, the "Fashion Star" mentor occasionally rubbed her baby bump as she walked down Abbot Kinney Blvd in her green footwear after getting lunch with the rest of the family at Hals restaurant.
The outing comes as Miss Simpson has been keeping busy working on her latest NBC reality show, "Fashion Star," which searches for the next brand in fashion as designers compete for a multi-million dollar prize to launch their collections.
The 31-year-old must be preparing herself to bring her baby into the world, as she recently revealed on her show that she had a dream she gave birth to one of the contestants and "had to change his diapers".
Check out a sneak peek of the second episode set to air Tuesday 10/9c on NBC.

According to In Touch Weekly, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson will name their soon-to-be born 15 pound baby girl Maxwell or Maxi for short. Cue endless teasing of “Maxipad.” I suppose it’s better than Zinfandel which is what they were originally going to go with.
?They tossed around a lot of names, including some wacky ones like Zinfandel, but couldn?t agree on anything,? a family friend confides.
Now, the pair has come to an understanding, and In Touch ? which was first to break the news both of Jessica?s pregnancy and of the baby?s sex ? can exclusively reveal the unusual (for a girl) moniker. ?They?re going to call her Maxwell, Maxi for short,? the friend says. Maxwell is Eric?s middle name, and also his beloved grandma?s maiden name. ?Jessica wanted a name with meaning.?
And not only has Jessica?s been seen wearing a necklace with a diamond ?M? pendant in honor of her little bundle of joy, the couple also already ordered onesies monogrammed with the name! Jessica, 31, is now set to give birth on April 20, three weeks earlier than her original due date. ?She?s gained so much weight and the baby is so big that doctors pushed up the date,? reveals her friend. And while the thought of giving birth freaks her out, ?Jessica and Eric are so eager to meet Maxwell!? In Touch Weekly
Someone should tell these two not to drink while choosing baby names. Granted, at least Jessica wasn’t picking names when she was hungry. She was about an hour away from naming her kid “McRib”.

Even though I think this story is possibly/probably BS, it?s getting a lot of coverage and though it pains me to admit it, In Touch Weekly might have a real source who is really spilling the dirt. According to ITW?s source, Jessica Simpson is naming her 10-pound baby girl? Maxwell. Jess and Eric will nickname her ?Maxi?. Maxi Johnson. Maxi pad joke, etc.
Choosing a baby name can be tricky, so it?s no surprise that Jessica Simpson and fianc Eric Johnson were, until recently, at an impasse about what to call their soon-to-be born daughter.
LMAO at ?Zinfandel?. I can just see Jessica, sober for the first time in years, saying, ?How about? Scotch? How about Jack Daniel? Whiskey is a cute name, y?all! Scotch Johnson. We should do that! Or White Russian Johnson! How about Merlot??
I have to admit, though, I usually loves boys? names for girls. My Indian name is a very common boys? name (in India), and I love it when a girl has a really fancy name but she shortens it to something boyish. Like ?Charlotte? becomes ?Charlie? or ?Samantha? becomes ?Sam?. I always like that. But Maxwell into Maxi? No.
What could be some of the other ?M? names if Jessica really is wearing an ?M? pendant, though? Maxine. Meric (?M? plus Eric). Meredith. Messica. Marguerite. OMG, it?s Margarita, isn?t it? OMG. I figured it out. Margarita Tequila Johnson.
