Making its highly-anticipated debut after four long years of back-and-forth, co-stars Julia Roberts and Hayden Panettiere stepped out for the Los Angeles premiere of their film "Fireflies in the Garden" last night (October 12).
Held at The Grove, the pair of Tinseltown stunners turned heads on the red carpet, with the "Notting Hill" star wearing a chic all black ensemble and the "Bring It On" beauty donning a sparkling olive-colored mini dress and crocodile print peep-toe pumps.
Elated to finally be showcasing the drama piece after nonstop roadblocks in production, Julia told press,"As frustrating and agonizing and confusing as the years have been I feel it has all been worth the effort."
Making its way into theaters this Friday (October 14), the film tells a "semi-autobiographical story centering on the complexities of love and commitment in a family torn apart when faced by an unexpected tragedy."

Here are some photos of Julia Roberts at last night?s premiere of Fireflies in the Garden, that movie where she plays Ryan Reynolds?s mom. They shot the film back in 2007, and it?s like Ryan wants no part of it - he didn?t show up for the junket, and now he didn?t even show up for the premiere. Haha, this film must suck.
Anyway, let?s talk about fashion first - Julia?s outfit is kind of meh, but I think it looks good on her. Lately, she?s been covering up a lot, and sometimes her style seems too matronly for a 40-something. But this is covered up and cute. Oooooh, nevermind. I just saw the sheer blouse and how it seems like Julia isn?t wearing a bra.
Yikes. No, this outfit is a train wreck. And the blazer is too big. But my least favorite thing is that Julia?s penchant for giant necklaces. It feels like she does a big necklace for every red carpet, and it?s boring. It also draws the eye to her face, which?
?It?s jacked, right? I?m not have a Claritin D hallucination? There?s Botox and lip injections happening in this mess, correct? I?ve always thought that Julia had her eyes done several years ago, but I?ve never really paid attention to anything else. In these photos, I?m really noticing how her forehead doesn?t move (plus that Botox vein). I?m also noticing how crazy her lips look. CB said that in closeups during Eat, Pray, Love, she thought Julia was getting lip injections too.
Last year, in an interview with Elle Magazine, Julia denied ever touching her face, though. She pontificated, “It’s unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don’t even give themselves a chance to see what they’ll look like as older persons. I want my kids to know when I?m pissed, when I?m happy and when I?m confounded. Your face tells a story and it shouldn?t be a story about your drive to the doctor?s office.? O RLY?!?

These are some new production stills from the new Snow White movie. No, not the one with Kristen Stewart as Snow White - that film is called Snow White and the Huntsman, and in that one, Snow is a warrior-princess or something. No, this other version of Snow White just seems like a live-action version of the cartoon. And by that, I mean that it looks really, really budget. Lily Collins plays Snow in this one, with Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen and Armie Hammer as the prince/love interest. Since this is so photo-heavy, let me just do some random thoughts with the relevant photos:
I hope Lily Collins is a talented actress, considering so much of the film is going to rest on her performance. I have the feeling that she has the potential to be a very attractive young woman, but it feels like she?s too young right now. Too young for this part, too young to carry a movie. Also, her brows are killing me. That?s some Sam Waterson brow happening there.
As for Julia Roberts - her costumes SUCK. Why does everything look so cheap?!? I can?t even look beyond the funky costumes. It?s like they?re trying to do Tim Burton on a budget.
The sets look budget too. And yes, that?s Nathan Lane back there. He?s the Evil Queen?s henchman or something. I bet he and Julia either had a great time together, or they absolutely hated each other.
Lily Collins says: ?Julia?s playing evil in a way that I don?t think people are going to expect. Everyone loves that Julia smile and laugh and she maintains that, but in such this creepy eerie way that you don?t know if you love her or hate her. She?s brilliant and it?s been an honour. She?s so nice, she?s so classy, she?s just everything I had hoped she?d be. Julia gets to be quite horrible to me. There?s a scene where she pulls my hair and she pulled it so hard that some of it came out! But we kept rolling and afterward she was like, ?I?m so sorry! I?m so sorry!?? Yes, I?m sure it was an ?accident?.
OMG!!!!!!!! Her swan headpiece is just disturbing. JESUS CHRIST.
Armie Hammer already looks like a cartoon prince, so this one is obvious.

Enjoying some family bonding time, Julia Roberts was spotted out to breakfast with the brood in Malibu, California on Wednesday (September 14).
The ?Pretty Woman? actress tended to children Hazel, Phin, and Henry as the happy foursome headed into a local eatery for their day-beginning meals.
The sighting comes as Miss Roberts recently filmed her role as the Evil Queen in ?Snow White" - though the project didn't come without its difficulties.
Co-star Lily Collins told press, "Once they yelled 'Cut', Julia would say, 'I'm sorry, I hate being mean to you.'"

Here’s Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder at the beach in Kauai, Hawaii. Everybody always tells me how beautiful Julia Roberts is and how Pretty Woman is such a great movie. I always shake my head and then punch them in the mouth if they keep insisting. Now I can avoid those police reports and just shove these pictures in their faces. “Where’s your god now?!,” I’ll probably yell at them.

Julia Roberts tried to work a fitted, possibly polyester blend suit at the Larry Crowne premiere in LA yesterday. I like the tailored suit trend, but this outfit is just wrong on Julia, especially with the matching shell under the jacket. All she needed to complete this look was a silky top in a color that popped. Instead it’s all kind of monochrome except for the jade necklace, which looks like a set piece from Eat, Pray Love. Plus those pants need to be hemmed for her a little. Her hair and makeup are polished yet effortless though. I love the loose bun she’s wearing in her hair.
Also at last night’s premiere was Taraji P. Hensen in a crimson dress. It looks like Leger and I’m over that too-tight dress trend. She looks hot though. IMDB has her listed in the movie although I didn’t spot her in the trailer.
Model Selita Ebanks, not in this movie, had on a ridiculous v-neck fuschia mini dress with gemstone detail at the sides. She paired it with leopard peep toe ankle booties and gold bangle bracelets. She’s a knockout, but what a wreck that outfit is. Plus check out her rooster hair.
Jenna Elfman, another non-costar, was there in a breezy purple dress, gold kitten heels and a canary clutch. She’s cray to the z but I like her look here. My hairdresser would have something to say about her very chunky highlights, although he’d praise the cut.
Tom Hanks, Julia’s costar, wore his best freshly washed jeans with a navy dress shirt and plain jacket. His wife, Rita Wilson, tried a little harder in a sequin cocktail dress and tuxedo jacket. You would think that these two would work to coordinate more considering that they’ve been married for 22 years, but maybe Rita lets Tom do his own thing. If Tom were my man I would try to dress him better.
Tom seems to have arrived by scooter, at least part of the way. His character rides a scooter in the film and it’s doubtful that he took that thing more than a few blocks. Otherwise it might explain why he was dressed like a deliveryman.
Bonus pic - a freshly shorn Bryan Cranston with his wife Robin Dearden. This is how a couple coordinates, and apparently they’ve been together about as long as Tom and Rita.
Here’s the trailer. It looks cute but I’ll probably wait to see it on DVD. Larry Crowne is out this Friday in the US, on July 1.

It seems like the new celebrity trend is making fun of fat people and saying critical things to their faces. Gwyneth Paltrow did it to her ?friend? and now this surprisingly explicit Enquirer story claims that Julia Roberts absolutely detests that her half-sister Nancy is overweight. Just to make this clear - I had no problems slamming Gwyneth for her rudeness, because that story came directly from the dude she criticized TO HIS FACE. This Enquirer story might be completely fabricated, but considering the specifics, I?m getting a feeling that some (if not all) of it is true. And if it is true, than Julia truly needs a good, hard slap. I?m not even joking. If she honestly said this this stuff to her sister under these circumstances, Julia is a complete and utter C-U-Next-Tuesday.
Julia Roberts and her half sister Nancy Motes are feuding again - this time over Nancy?s weight! Nancy, 35, has blown up to more than 300 pounds and her movie star sister is ?disgusted? by her appearance, say sources.
?Julia?s made no secret of the fact that she?s not happy that Nancy?s gotten heavy,? said a source close to Julia?s husband Danny. ?She thinks it?s humiliating for her and the entire family.?
Julia went out of her way to land Nancy a job as a production assistant on Glee, thanks to Julia?s connections with director Ryan Murphy - and Julia believes Nancy?s obesity reflects badly on her, continued the source.
Julia is also concerned that Nancy?s weight will make it difficult for her to continue to care for their 76-year-old mother, Betty, who struggled with her own health issues. While Julia has been paying Betty?s bills, Nancy is her part-time caretaker.
?Julia has asked Nancy point-blank, ?Who?s going to keep an eye on mom if you get sick???
Tensions between Julia and her sister came to a head last month at Betty?s home in Pacific Palisades.
?Julia was rolling her eyes and making cutting comments about Nancy?s weight behind her back - whispering to partygoers, ?Can you believe how big she?s gotten?? When Nancy got wind of what Julia was saying, she confronted her, telling her to shut up and leave her alone. Julia shot back, ?Well, I wouldn?t have to if you had enough self-respect to lose some weight!? At which point, Nancy told Julia to ?go f–k herself? - thus ruining the party.?
The two women have not spoken since, and Nancy was noticeably absent from Julia?s 4-year-old son?s birthday party in June.

So, just to recap, Julia?s sister is the part-time caretaker for their mother, plus she has a full-time job as a production assistant on Glee - which is like a slave position, is very time-intensive, and I doubt Julia really had to pull many strings to get a sister what amounts to an ?internship?. And Nancy is struggling with her weight. So instead of lending moral support, or suggesting help in finding a less time-consuming full time job, or suggesting that their mother needs full-time professional help to ease the burden off of Nancy, Julia decides the ?solution? is to be a complete and utter bitch DURING A PARTY. And let me tell you something, it was Julia?s d-bag comments that shut the party down. ?Well, I wouldn?t have to if you had enough self-respect to lose some weight!? That?s what shut the party down. Not ?Go f–k yourself.? Don?t blame the overweight girl for Julia?s ridiculous, THAT?S SO TACKY behavior.
I wouldn?t have even managed to choke out an insult, honestly, if this story is true and I was in Nancy?s position. I would have simply choked the hell out of Julia.

Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks appear on the cover of W Magazine for the June issue, all to promote The Movie That Will Save America, Larry Crowne. The shoot is mostly All About Julia (OF COURSE) because it would be TACKY to do a photo shoot that didn?t focus on Julia making her little ?Blue Steel? duck-faces. Tom looks? he looks good, I guess. It?s weird seeing him in a fashion magazine, but as he?s aged, he?s gained some gravitas, so in at least one of the shots, he looks like he?s about to fire all of us from our jobs. The interview is kind of meh - Lynn Hirschberg interviews Tom and Julia separately, for some reason. I would imagine the interview would have been a lot funnier if Tom and Julia were in the same room together. You can read the full piece at W, here. Here are some highlights:
Tom Hanks on Larry Crowne, which he cowrote, directed and stars in: ?The movie is about combating cynicism. People are naturally optimistic, but you have to choose to walk away from cynicism. You have to say, I am going to combat cynicism today. I had this idea about a unique guy who loses his job and then, at the end of the movie, realizes that it was the best thing that ever happened to him. He thought he was going to die, but it turned out great!? People are afraid of change. People say, I can?t do this or that. Why? Because I?d have to change something. Well, yes: You should change. The idea of change makes them nervous, but I think change is good. Always.?
Hanks on making the change from comedy to drama: ?I told my agents that I wasn?t going to play pussies anymore. I was tired of playing, ?Oh, boo-hoo?I was in love, but oh, boo-hoo-hoo.? There comes an age when you can?t do that anymore. I wanted to play men instead of boys. In your mid-30s, it?s time to start playing guys of compromise. And as you get older, men of bitter compromise [Laughs].?
Don?t say ?bellhop? around Hanks: ?Bellman. Bellhop and bellboy are derogatory terms. Call them ?sir.? Terms of respect go a long way in that job.?
Writing a part for Julia: ?I had some teachers [in junior college] who looked like Julia. I would see them and think, I love you. So there was never anyone but Julia. Still, even after she said yes, I was the boss. That meant I got to say, ?You don?t wear this dress, you wear that dress.? And Julia?s Julia?she can be intimidating [Laughs].
Julia Roberts on how she didn?t go to college: ?No. This was my first college experience. And the first time I had to speak in front of a classroom, I was apoplectic. All these faces looking up at me, thinking, What is she going to teach us? I needed to find my composure. It was very hard?it was terrible, in fact.?
Julia on what classes she?d take if she went to college: ?I guess I?d take a class in homeopathy or psychology?something that I would use in my life. I did actually start taking sewing classes recently. I can wear what I?ve sewn, if I?m not in a strong wind. And I?m taking piano lessons with my kids. We can blame this new frontier on Tom Hanks. I sat next to a musician at a dinner party at Tom Hanks?s house, and I started thinking about piano lessons. In your 40s, you?re supposed to learn new things so your brain doesn?t turn to mush. So I?m practicing scales.?
Julia on being directed by Tom Hanks: ?God, no. We knew each other socially. When I was in Rome, shooting Eat Pray Love, Tom sent me the script and said, ?Tell me what you think.? I couldn?t stop smiling when I read it: It?s topical, but very positive. It contains this moment in history in a very interesting way. The movie says, You can lose your job and your way and still rescue yourself. Larry Crowne creates a self-excavated utopia, and I love that idea, that message. And Tom is so good at making fun of himself. In the beginning of the film, he?s wearing pleated khakis. No one should wear pleated khakis onscreen.?
On playing a character that likes her liquor: ?I spend a lot of the movie woozy. Why did Tom Hanks think of me when he thought of a drunken schoolteacher? What does that mean? He has me chugging margaritas. It?s hard to chug a margarita! [Laughs] I asked why it couldn?t be straight liquor, and he said it was funnier if it was a drink made in a blender.?
Julia on not doing so many romantic comedies nowadays: ?I think it?s called growing up. Light and funny has a more compelling quality when you?re younger. But I haven?t abandoned the genre: I love falling down; I love Lucille Ball. It?s just that a lot of those stories revolve around problems that I can?t convincingly portray at this age.?
Julia on whether she?ll ever direct: ?No. I can direct breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I take pride in my kitchen, but I?m not going to direct a movie.?
Julia takes credit for Javier Bardem?s Oscar nomination for Biutiful: ?Yes, I was the loudmouth on that. It was such a crazy travesty that the movie wasn?t getting attention. And it?s fun to throw your weight around. That?s one of the perks of what we do.?
Julia didn?t get to keep the red gown from Pretty Woman: ?No, even though it was made for me, they didn?t let me keep anything from the movie. But I did get to keep the wedding dresses from Runaway Bride. They?re all boxed up in my garage. I?ve never opened them. It?ll be fun one day when Hazel [Roberts?s daughter] is taller. She can play dress-up with her friends.?

Back in the day, I used to love to read feminist theory for fun. It was how I relaxed, and to this day, if I come upon a good essay about feminist iconography and/or art, I will sit back and enjoy it. Eventually, I came to my own sense of what feminism meant to me: the freedom of every woman to make their own personal, professional, social, economic, educational, sexual and reproductive choices for themselves. Will I (and others) judge some of those choices? Sure. But judgment isn?t the same as barring, banning, censoring or criminalizing those choices. I bring this up because Julia Roberts has said something that needs defending (sort of). She was asked about her now subdued work schedule, and she defended her right to stay at home with her kids:
Julia Roberts is quite alright working less and spending more time at home. In an interview with Access Hollywood, the 43-year-old wife and mom says she has no “mom guilt.”
“Nope,” she says, explaining that she’s scaled back the amount of work she now takes on. “I felt I earned the right to stay home and be home and get super selective about what I wanted to do work wise.”
Roberts, who has been married to cameraman Daniel Moder since 2002, has three children — Henry, 3 and twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 6. Part of her time at home includes cooking for her family, but she has a few conditions when she’s in the kitchen.
“I have a steadfast rule that I run a kitchen, not a diner,” she says. “So I just make one meal? I try to be healthy, but listen, I love myself some bacon! So I have to cook what I think we’re all going to enjoy.. But I try to make it as healthy as possible.”

In truth, EVERY woman has earned the right to make their own decisions about work-versus-motherhood, but I understand Julia?s mentality when she says “I felt I earned the right to stay home and be home and get super selective about what I wanted to do work wise.” She?s saying (in my mind) that she spent the better part of two decades building a career and working quite a bit, and thus she?s ?earned? the right to leave Hollywood for years at a time. But does Julia know that even women who haven?t ?earned? it like she has, that those women take time off too? And is there judgment for those ladies who don?t take a career timeout? Sigh? we?ll never get an answer to those questions.

She?s always up to something, and Saturday (April 23) Julia Roberts was spotted at the premiere of her new film ?Jesus Henry Christ.?
The ?Pelican Brief? actress looked to be in good spirits as she arrived at the BMCC Tribeca PAC in New York City as part of the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, joining up with festival co-founder Robert De Niro during the course of the evening.
During her interview at the event, Julia chatted about what it was like to work with her husband Danny Moder who shot the film.
"It was so great to be working on the same movie with him. He's so good at what he does. He's so clear and focused."
She added, ?It's actually hard to get his attention on the set because he's really like, 'No, I'm working.' But at lunch I will be like, 'Hi, remember me, your wife?'"
