I read a summary of Gwyneth Paltrow and Tracy Anderson?s Hamptons Magazine cover story a few days ago, but I only read the full piece on Sunday. It?s the kind of thing that you really just have sit down and read and let the pretentious, ass-kissy, ridiculousness wash over you. Goop and Tracy are business partners and they cover Hamptons Mag because they?re opening up a new studio IN the Hamptons for Tracy, plus they?re doing a new food-delivery service called 3 Green Hearts. As you?ve probably guessed, the food service will be all organic, gluten-free and salad-based, although surprisingly, there is some meat involved (mostly fish). I would highly recommend reading the full story here, but here are some of the most eye-roll-inducing moments (note: Gwyneth was supposed to be interviewing Tracy).
Tracy on her connection to the Hamptons: ?Funny you should ask that of me, since you?re responsible for introducing me to [the Hamptons]. But the Hamptons is where I?ve called home for the last eight years?ever since we first started working together on your lovely body for the first Iron Man. You, of course, have a beautiful home in Amagansett, and were lovely enough to bring me and my family out for the summer to continue our work together. We just have never left.
Goop?s shill for Tracy: ?To me, you?re a total fitness expert. You look like some kind of swimsuit model, but you?re really a scientist. That?s how I see the Tracy Anderson lifestyle. [You know the regimen,] the food combinations, and the best exercise clothes, but you also have such great style. All of that will be available at the new East Hampton studio.?
Tracy judges women who don?t wear the correct workout clothes: ?If you need to lose weight, if you want to make sure you?re balanced everywhere and you?re able to perform, the food really matters. [And what you wear to work out really matters.] If you?re just in a crummy T-shirt with spit-up on it from your baby, then your performance is not going to be what it can be.?
Goop on Tracy?s workout don?ts: ?Are there any fitness methods that you don?t recommend? I know you told me once not to only do the elliptical. Why don?t you like fitness methods that rely on one repetitive motion??
Tracy?s workout don?ts: ?Because I think that when people want to feel balanced and connected, they shouldn?t overdo anything. Many people don?t know what is going to make them feel balanced. If someone is pushing a ton of weight or if they?re slinging things in the air or cycling, they?re wearing down their joints. They?re compartmentalizing the larger muscles that are bone movers and they?re actually creating further imbalance in the body. It?s not even that your little muscles don?t activate; you?re charging up the same larger muscles over and over again. I see women all the time who say they run 15 miles a day but their butts are saggy. You?ve got muscles underneath the glutes that are inactive. There?s no reason for them to work right now because your glutes are crazy strong. That?s not what is going to lift your butt up. It?s just purely an education. I?m fine with anybody wanting to do whatever they want; it?s just about understanding what you?re actually doing with your body and what the result is going to be.
[From Hamptons Magazine]
There?s so much shilling for all of their crap throughout the piece, and Tracy has to spend half the time kissing Gwyneth?s ass (Tracy actually calls Gwyneth an ?iconic entertainer? because OMG). Tracy has criticized other workouts before and even if she has some minor point about changing your routines and trying to get a full-body workout, I always get the impression that Tracy just thinks ALL workouts are terrible except for the ones she?s ?designed.? She hates yoga, she hates running, she hates cycling, she hates the elliptical. The only workout that counts, in Tracy?s mind, is her ?Method?.

| Gwyneth Paltrow 'is sick of waiting' for Brad Falchuk's divorce to come through | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last August, Star Magazine ran a fascinating cover story about Gwyneth Paltrow?s then very-quiet relationship with Brad Falchuk. Since then, Gwyneth and Brad have gone public and he?s generally considered to be her ?official boyfriend.? But the details of just when they first got together are? sketchy. At best.
Let me tell you what I believe. I believe that Gwyneth met Brad Falchuk when she guest-starred on Glee. He was an attractive and married producer on Glee. At some point, while they were both still very much married to other people, Gwyneth and Brad began to have an affair ? Star says now that Brad and his wife split two years ago, so let?s say that Gwyneth and Brad?s affair began two years ago (because that is a very safe assumption). Maybe it was super-casual, maybe both of their spouses knew about it, I have no idea. I believe Gwyneth and Chris Martin had an open marriage, but it wasn?t until Chris wanted out (to pursue greener pastures) that they finally consciously uncoupled. That Star story last August was a suggestion that Brad?s wife Suzanne was not happy about Gwyneth and she was looking for a BIG divorce settlement, especially considering they had been married for 10 years and they have two kids together. So what now?
When it comes to ?uncoupling,? Gwyneth Paltrow wants her beau, producer Brad Falchuk, to step on it. She?s been legally single for six months, but Brad?s divorce from his estranged wife, Suzanne Bukinik, has seemingly stalled ? even though they filed the papers two years ago.
An insider says that Gwyneth is setting sick of waiting.
?Gwyneth is questioning the relationship,? says the source. ?She finds it odd and embarrassing that Brad hasn?t moved forward with his divorce. She wants him to settle things with his wife and move on.?
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
This story reminds me of LeAnn Rimes. Right? It feels like? ?Hey, I got a divorce so we could be together, why are you dragging your feet with your divorce?!? All of this for a guy who isn?t even on-screen talent! How the mighty Goop has fallen. I?ll admit it ? I never really thought this thing with Brad would last. I thought he was Goop?s jumpoff, and she would eventually dump him for a richer and/or more high profile dude. In any case, the easiest way to get Suzanne to sign the divorce papers might be to simply give her the big settlement she wants?

I could have gone the whole year without seeing Gwyneth Paltrow?s Goopy mid-section on the cover of Women?s Health. She does have a nice figure, but lately Gwyneth has seemed? I don?t know? Thirsty? That?s what happens when you?re building a lifestyle brand on YOUR life, though. You have to show some thirst, because you want people to pay attention to how you?re living. You want to be seen as aspirational. And so it is with Gwyneth. We?re supposed to want Gwyneth?s body, Gwyneth?s diet, Gwyneth?s clothes, Gwyneth?s homes, Gwyneth?s life. Some highlights from her Women?s Health interview:
Her comfort with her body: ?I believe in having sex and I feel way more comfortable in a bathing suit now than I did 20 years ago!?
Her routine: “My routine is the same every weekday. I drop my kids at school. I do an hour of dance cardio, then I go to work. For lunch I usually have a big salad with grilled chicken, and then for dinner I’ll have whatever I want. Most nights I eat with the kids, like, a stir-fry of chicken and broccoli or pasta or roast chicken and potatoes.”
She believes in being herself: ?I believe, as cheesy as it sounds, in exercise, laughing, having sex, being yourself.?
Her diet mantra: ?My food philosophy is: Nothing should be ruled out. I don?t believe in saying, ‘You’re not allowed that.’ If my kids want a Shirley Temple with the radioactive cherry in it, go for it, you know??
Her romantic relationship (with Brad Falchuk): “If I’m in a relationship at this point in my life, it’s got to be a relationship worth sustaining, you know what I mean? I don’t have the time or inclination.?
[From The Daily Mail]
She?s so full of it. I mean, this might be her ?philosophy? at this point, to not rule anything out and to be okay with her children eating ?radioactive cherries,? but it really wasn?t too long ago (it was just two years ago!) that Gwyneth was promoting one of the harshest elimination diets out there, suggesting that children should be put on no-carb, no-dairy, no-meat diets/cleanses for weeks at a time. And next year she?ll have a new philosophy, a new diet, a new set of rules for what we should and should not be consuming. Also: how passive-aggressive and judgy is she being about cherries? Shirley Temples are a staple of childhood! How dare she judge the cherry!

| Gwyneth Paltrow admits she only made it four days on the SNAP Challenge | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Gwyneth Paltrow devoted her weekly Goop-letter to her efforts with the Food Stamp Challenge this week. Even though this comes after several days of abuse hurled at Gwyneth for ?poverty tourism? and peasant-lies, I kind of think this was probably her goal from the start. She didn?t dedicate herself to the challenge of trying to live on $29 a week (for food) but she always planned on writing about it for Goop. You could even say that she half-assed it for a greater purpose: to make a larger statement about how we eat, the food we buy and how women need equal pay. You can read her whole Goop-post here.
Last week, chef (and great man) Mario Batali challenged me to raise awareness and money for the NYC Food Bank by trying to live on $29 dollars for the week (what low income families on SNAP are trying to survive on). Dubious that I could complete the week, I donated to the Food Bank at the outset, and all of us at the goop office began the challenge.
As I suspected, we only made it through about four days, when I personally broke and had some chicken and fresh vegetables (and in full transparency, half a bag of black licorice). My perspective has been forever altered by how difficult it was to eat wholesome, nutritious food on that budget, even for just a few days?a challenge that 47 million Americans face every day, week, and year. A few takeaways from the week were that vegetarian staples liked dried beans and rice go a long way?and we were able to come up with a few recipes on a super tight budget.
After trying to complete this challenge (I would give myself a C-), I am even more outraged that there is still not equal pay in the workplace. Sorry to go on a tangent, but many hardworking mothers are being asked to do the impossible: Feed their families on a budget which can only support food businesses that provide low-quality food. The food system in our beautiful country needs to be subjected to a heavy revision?it is a cyclical problem, with repercussions that we all feel. I?m not suggesting everyone eat organic food from some high horse in the sky. I?m saying everyone should be able to afford fresh, real food. And if women were paid an equal wage, families might have more of a choice in the grocery aisles, not to mention in the rest of their lives.
?I know hunger doesn?t always touch us all directly?but it does touch us all indirectly. After this week, I am even more grateful that I am able to provide high-quality food for my kids. Let?s all do what we can to make this a basic human right and not a privilege.
[From Goop]
A C-minus? I guess the only thing Gwyneth can NOT do well is pretend to be poor.
Gwyneth also cites statistics about equal pay and she literally types ?hats off to Patricia Arquette? for drawing attention to the issue. Real question: do some people think that Arquette was, like, the first person arguing for equal pay? As for the correlation Gwyneth draws between equal pay and food insecurity, as much as I want to nitpick her to death, if we?re looking at the realpolitik, she?s right. Food insecurity is linked to women?s pay and more often than not, it falls on mothers to care about food and what their children eat. Is that the way it SHOULD be? Of course not. In a perfect world, women and men would have equal pay for equal work and men and women would have equal interest in ensuring food security for their children.
But yes, Gwyneth did half-ass this challenge. She only stuck with it long enough to have her Goop staff come up with some recipes involving eggs and rice. Guess what she used all those limes for? Zest and garnish. Classic.

When Gwyneth Paltrow is criticized, she usually doubles-down. Like, she can?t even believe that the peasantry has the audacity to question her about ANYTHING, so she goes overboard in justifying or explaining herself. But not this time. Gwyneth has literally done the least amount of work involved with the Food Bank Challenge or the SNAP Challenge or whatever we?re calling it. She proudly posted a photo of what $29 worth of food stamps would get you at the grocery store (so many limes!) and? that was it. She posted that photo on April 9th. She abandoned the challenge within days (if not hours). She went out to lunch with friends over the weekend, and now People reports that Gwyneth and her boyfriend went out for a romantic dinner of veal tongue and rabbit legs (?????).
Gwyneth Paltrow and producer Brad Falchuk took their romance tableside on Tuesday. The actress, 42, and the Glee co-creator, 44, dined at the L.A. restaurant Animal, which featured a barbecue-themed menu on Tuesday of pig ears, veal tongue and fried rabbit legs.
“They were sitting together, very cozy and romantic,” says the observer at the eatery. “He was totally rapt by everything she was saying. They were totally on a date.”
The dinner followed Paltrow’s announcement on April 9 that she had accepted the Food Bank for New York City challenge to bring attention to the struggles faced by families that live on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps, which Congress has slashed twice during the past 18 months. It’s unclear whether Paltrow is still participating in the campaign, which involves living off a $29 food-stamp budget for a week, or $1.38 per meal.
[From People]
It?s not ?unclear?. Gwyneth is not doing the challenge, if she ever was. And that truly surprises me ? I figured Gwyneth would devote a Goop-post to her ?challenge? and tell us all how she managed to make some lovely lime-soaked rice (or something) and it was amazing and obviously that means she?s so much better at all of this than the (fat) peasants. Instead, she gave up and just phoned it in. ?Darling, just take a photo of some limes, I?m going to lunch with my lover.?
After I wrote that ^^ Page Six published their version of the same story, only they got Goop’s rep to say: “She already finished the challenge last week but only got around to posting the photo of the groceries on [Thursday].? So, basically, it’s what I said – Gwyneth only posted a photo of what she thought $29 worth of food looked like and then went on with her life. Page Six also noted that at this fancy BBQ event, it didn’t even seem like Gwyneth ate anything, despite the fact that she likely spent $85 just to attend.
Meanwhile, Gwyneth got HEAPS of criticism for even deigning to pay lip service to this challenge. The NY Post had a scathing essay about Gwyneth pretending to be poor, like she?s Marie Antoinette. Even Time Magazine called it ?poverty tourism? and declared the whole Gooptastrophe to be ?gross.?

I guess I?m an idiot, because I didn?t realize that everyone would want to talk about Gwyneth Paltrow deigning to try the Food Stamp Challenge, so I dumped the story in Friday?s links. So, let?s talk about it. Apparently, Gwyneth?s dear friend Mario Batali convinced her to try it ? the official name for the stunt (it?s a good stunt, but it?s a stunt, let?s call a spade a spade) is the Food Bank NYC Challenge. Batali got Goop and other people to try to live on $29 a week, which is what families living below the poverty line get in food stamps (SNAP) in the real world to spend on food. Gwyneth posted this photo on her Twitter:
This is what $29 gets you at the grocery store?what families on SNAP (i.e. food stamps) have to live on for a week. pic.twitter.com/OZMPA3nxij

Soon after Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin consciously uncoupled one year ago, the rumor mill started working overtime. There were always rumors about affairs for both Chris and Gwyneth, but everything got amplified post-uncoupling. To her credit, Gwyneth kept her infidelity game a bit tighter than Chris, although lots of people knew that Gwyneth was dealing with a married man named Brad Falchuk, a producer on Glee. Brad and Gwyneth met during her guest appearances on Glee and what was likely a casual affair turned into something more once Chris and Gwyneth uncoupled. At some point, Brad?s wife (and mother of his two children) filed for divorce. And soon Brad and Gwyneth were ?together? officially, although they would never be so gauche as to actually walk a red carpet together or hold hands as they walk down the street. Still, Brad has slowly but surely entered Goop?s elite world. And this weekend, Brad got to be Gwyneth?s plus-one at Robert Downey Jr.?s 50th birthday party.
Gwyneth Paltrow is off the market again. While her ex Chris Martin, 38, enjoyed a romantic weekend with actress Jennifer Lawrence, 24, Paltrow went public with her beau ? television producer Brad Falchuk. The Mortdecai actress, 42, made an appearance with the Glee producer, 44, at actor Robert Downey Jr.’s 50th birthday bash Saturday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
The couple showed up to the star-studded soire together, where they joined celebs including Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux and Jason Bateman. Falchuk attempted to hop out of the car quickly to open Gwyneth’s car door upon their arrival, but he didn’t quite make it, according to a source.
“They laughed about it and seemed very happy to together,” the source tells PEOPLE. Following their party outing, the duo grabbed dinner Sunday evening in Santa Monica at Chinois On Main. The hostess greeted Paltrow with a big hug, an onlooker shared.
Paltrow has been linked to the American Horror Story co-creator for more than a year, but has flown under the radar with their relationship. They attended a pre-Oscars party together back in February, according to a fellow party goer.
[From People]
On one side, I respect Gwyneth for keeping her game tight and her public profile ?clean.? I would assume that the casual Goop-follower ? not the gossip-hounds on this blog! ? probably wouldn?t even realize that Gwyneth and Brad?s relationship likely started when they were both married to other people. And Gwyneth will never, ever get tagged with the ?homewrecker? label. Pish-posh! That kind of label only happens to people like Angelina Jolie.
Before the clock strikes, one last happy birthday to a true great, Robert Downey Jr. Friend, brother, inspiration. ???

I never thought I would write ?Gwyneth Paltrow? and ?Hustler? in the same sentence, but here we are. Honestly, that?s not even the funniest part of this story. According to Page Six, Gwyneth recently deigned to purchase some commercial property on the Sunset Strip ? she (and some investors, I?m assuming) purchased Larry Flynt?s Hustler Hollywood store on Sunset Blvd. Which, quite honestly, I didn?t know still existed. But it did and it probably wasn?t doing that well, or else Gwyneth wouldn?t have been able to purchase it. So what does Gwyneth plan to do with Hustler Hollywood? If your guess was ?rock out with her 1970s bush out,? you?re wrong.
Gwyneth Paltrow has purchased a prime piece of Sunset Strip property from Larry Flynt and will replace the publisher?s sex store with a high-end night club, sources said. Flynt?s Hustler Hollywood has been peddling sex toys at 8920 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood since December 1998.
?The building is in escrow and the Hustler Hollywood store will be moving to a new location in Hollywood later this year,? Flynt?s rep, Arthur Sando, said. ?The current location will remain open until that time.?
Paltrow and business partner Gary Landesberg quietly made the deal recently, with plans to replace Hustler Hollywood with a super high-end restaurant and night spot, the Arts Club, TMZ reported. The establishment will be modeled on similar clubs in London and Aspen, Colo., with expensive membership fees to join ? at least $2,000 ? and another $2,000 in annual dues, according to TMZ. There would also be a strict dress code.
[From Page Six]
Replacing Hustler Hollywood with a fancy members-only, dress-code-having ?Arts Club?? How gauche. No, but the Arts Club is a thing ? we have photos of celebrities coming out of the Arts Club in London all the time. It?s like the Soho House thing, part of an increasing trend to bring the more British-y, members-only, high-school Mean Girl bitchery and elitism to ?going out for a drink with some friends.? One simply cannot go out to a bar with some friends anymore, like a peasant. One must join a members-only club, pay exorbitant annual fees for the pleasure and be turned away on sight if you?re A) above a size 6 or B) not wearing $2000 jeans.

| Gwyneth Paltrow, peasant: 'I?m incredibly close to the common woman' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
I?m trying to remember if I?ve ever used the phrase ?the common woman? in all seriousness. I think I might have written it sarcastically, to make fun of some peasant-shading elitist, but I can?t say that it?s a phrase that comes rolling off the (peasant) tongue for me. But then again, I?m not constantly defending myself against charges of unbridled elitism. To be fair to Gwyneth Paltrow, she was not the first person in this CNN Money interview ? she was asked how she thinks she has anything to say to ?the common woman.? As in, the CNN interviewer asked her that. So? while I?m not giving Gwyneth a total pass, I think she was just rephrasing the question. I also think she truly believes that she has an enormous amount in common with the commoners. Some assorted quotes from Gwyneth?s CNN interview:
The purpose of Goop: “What we try to do at Goop is curate and to edit. We know that a woman’s time is her most precious resource and we want to multitask, get a lot done, and what we want to do is provide the best solutions.?
The common woman: “I’m incredibly close to the common woman in that I’m a woman and I’m a mother and we all are in a physical body with beating hearts with compassion and love we are all seekers?we all want fulfillment, we all want to live our best lives. We want to be healthy and happy and squeeze the most we can out of life. I think that’s all women.”
The perception that Goop is only for rich people: ?I always say that when people make that false assumption, it?s because people haven?t actually gone to the site and seen what we?re selling and seen what we?re about? I think the idea is that we?re going to find the best thing and where it is at any price point.?
Don?t call her a lifestyle guru: “I see myself as an actor and a mother and as an entrepreneur. I don’t see myself as a guru at all. I’m not a guru because I’m the one asking the questions. I’m not purporting to know anything.”
[From E! News]
She certainly has her talking points down ? she said some similar things in her recent Wall Street Journal interview too. Do you really think Gwyneth Paltrow is down with the common woman? I think it?s interesting that she?s trying to seem like she is. I think it?s interesting that this is her new image. She?s no longer the snotty elitist deigning to speak to the common people, she?s trying to say that we are all women and we all go through the same crap. Are you buying it? And by ?buying it? I mean ?$5000 Goop-curated booty shorts.?
