There are a lot of new photos of both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, but we don’t have access to them. That’s just as well because both Johnny and Amber are doing their thing with Johnny’s daughter, Lily Rose, in separate venues. Amber has been papped while shopping and lunching with Lily. The other pictures feature Johnny dropping Lily Rose off at school with a special friend — Marilyn Manson — in tow.Yes, you read that correctly.
This latest update in the fateful Johnny and Amber engagement story involves moving forward in a significant direction. I’ve been wondering whether Johnny will make good on this engagement. This time seems different than the others, right? Like Johnny might actually make it to the altar for the first time in decades. Here come some details from the Daily Star (via the Mail) about exactly what type of wedding ceremony Amber is planning with scarfy Johnny:
Their engagement was only revealed last month but Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are already planning their wedding.
While Amber, 27, has recently been seen flashing a huge engagement ring, she and 50-year-old Johnny are reportedly set to tie the knot in a small ceremony on his private island in the Bahamas with a barbecue afterwards.
According to the UK’s Daily Star newspaper: “They?re having a small intimate ceremony barefoot on the beach in Little Hall?s Pond Cay.
“Afterwards they’ll have a barbecue where some of Johnny’s musician pals are going to perform, followed by limbo dancing. Neither Johnny nor Amber want a big, glitzy Hollywood bash. They are both very private.”
Amber and Johnny first met when they starred together in 2011?s The Rum Diary but didn’t get together until 2012 after the breakdown of his 14 year relationship with Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has Lily Rose,14, and Jack, 11.
Johnny, 50, and bisexual Amber’s relationship has not always been smooth, and she initially ended their romance after deciding she wanted to be single.
However, Johnny was undeterred and sent her a personally-penned poem and a bouquet of roses every day for a month to convince her to give him another chance.
A source said in late 2012: “Johnny didn’t give up – he missed her so much over the summer. They both love literature and the way he tried to win her back totally worked.”
Indeed they cemented their romance on the private island.
The insider added: “Once they flew for a romantic break [in the Bahamas], they were back on as a couple. Johnny’s the type to fall hard and he’s vowed not to let a girl like Amber, who’s beautiful and intelligent, slip through his fingers.”
Johnny is also said to have named a beach on his private island, Little Hall’s Pond, in honour of his girlfriend, calling it Amber’s Cove.

Good grief: “They cemented their romance on the private island.” What does that even mean? I really don’t need to know the details. TMI. I do hope Johnny’s equipped his private island to offer his new bride all of the modern conveniences possible. I mean, we’ve heard about Johnny’s private island for many years, but I want some real dish on what the island is really like (not from an arial view). I hope it’s a better experience than the private-island Breaking Dawn honeymoon between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Does it have bulk food bins available? Does it have trailers nicer than Gary Oldman’s trailer? I need to know. Don’t leave me with a Twilight fantasy.

That thing on Amber Heard’s finger that looked like an engagement ring? That’s what it was. A source confirmed the rumor to PEOPLE saying, “They couldn’t be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together. Amber has really taken well to the kids and really enjoys spending time with them.”
Depp, 50, split with Vanessa Paradis a few years back. Heard, 27, who came out as bisexual, split with Tasya van Ree a few years back as well.
According to friends, they’re a perfect match. Amber Heard, raised in Texas, loves shooting guns, driving fast cars (she drives a ’68 Mustang) and collecting books. Johnny Depp, raised in Florida, loves collecting books!
Sources say, “They couldn’t be happier.”

Earlier this week, Kaiser mentioned in passing that Amber was spotted wearing a huge sparkler on her “important” finger. People published the photos, which I thought were quite telling. Amber was strategically covering and uncovering her hand. She was obviously wanting us to notice the ring, but she didn’t want to completely give away the goods. She wanted us to talk about it, and I can’t blame her. Most girls do the same thing, even if Amber always wants us to think she’s different from everyone else. Now Us Weekly has received word from an insider that Johnny and Amber are indeed engaged. They’ve been secretly engaged for awhile, allegedly. Here we go:

After Amber Heard was spotted trying to hide some suspiciously flashy bling on her left ring finger earlier this week, fans wondered whether the actress had secretly gotten engaged to her Rum Diary costar. The famously private couple have yet to confirm or deny either way, but sources tell Us Weekly they’re indeed planning to marry.
“The proposal happened a while ago,” one insider tells Us. “She just didn’t wear the ring.” (Celebuzz reported news of an engagement on Thursday.)
The 50-year-old Into the Woods actor first met his bride-to-be on the set of their movie The Rum Diary. They confirmed their relationship in June 2012, shortly after Depp announced his split from longtime love Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two kids, daughter Lily-Rose, 14, and son Jack, 11.
Since then, the typically private duo have been spotted all over the world together, from Moscow to Japan, where they took Depp’s kids in July. More recently, on Saturday, Jan. 11, the duo appeared at the Art of Elysium’s 7th Annual HEAVEN Gala in L.A., where they held hands and posed for pictures. They also attended the 2014 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 12.
Later this year, the couple will reunite onscreen in London Fields, a crime thriller based on the 1989 novel of the same name by Martin Amis. Depp has a cameo on the movie, which also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess, and Theo James.

This is interesting, isn’t it? Johnny hasn’t been married (to a celebrity girlfriend) before, and he hasn’t been engaged for decades. He didn’t even marry Vanessa Paradis after they had two children together. He didn’t propose to Kate Moss either, for she surely would have accepted. But Amber has managed to pull off the impossible. Well played.
Also notable? I haven’t mentioned the term “mid-life crisis” until now.
Update by Celebitchy: People Magazine has a confirmation, along with quotes about how great Amber is with Johnny’s kids. Their source says “Of course they couldn’t be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together.

Considering how little Johnny says publicly about his children, and how he’s made it a point of not talking about his family, this is somewhat troublesome to me.

UPDATE: Just Jared has spoken to other sources, who say the ring is only a promise ring given to Amber as a holiday gift. Notice that nobody has actually spoken to either Johnny or Amber’s reps yet.

Marvel has Machiavellian plans to take over the universe. I?ve heard the whispers, I?ve read the reports. They have, like, a ten year plan of how they?re going to roll out certain characters and franchises and who is deserving of a launch and who is a ?company man? and who isn?t. I think Ant-Man is going to be one of their next franchise launches, and they?ve given the part to forever-20-something Paul Rudd. Now everyone is talking about the potential ? in, like, three years ? launch of a Dr. Strange franchise. Early rumors had Benedict Cumberbatch meeting with Marvel people about the role, which sounds somewhat tailor-made for Cumby. I mean, if anything, it?s TOO on-the-nose to hire Cumby to play a character named ?Dr. Strange.? But what if Cumby?s meetings didn?t go well? What if Marvel dumps Cumby because they spy a bigger fish? A bigger fish wearing a vest, two jackets, three scarves, ten necklaces, a bandana under a hat and 13 rings. Yes, now there?s a rumor that Marvel wants Johnny Depp.
It was only a matter of time before Marvel Studios started courting Johnny Depp to play one of its superheroes.
Sources have told Latino Review that the Mouse House?s main man is in very early discussions with Marvel to take on the role of eccentric magician Steven Strange in ?Doctor Strange,? which the company has long been developing as a solo pic to join the ranks of its ?Iron Man,? ?Thor? and ?Captain America? franchises. ?Ant-Man? is another character it hopes to launch in 2015 as a standalone franchise around one of the comicbook company?s heroes.
While it makes sense that Marvel would want to have a conversation with Depp over how it could launch a new franchise with the thesp, sources tell Variety that such talks have yet to take place and any possibility of such a pairing is premature.
Yet if he sparks to the role, Depp would play the Master of the Mystic Arts, a former neurosurgeon who becomes the next Sorcerer Supreme and primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Marvel Comics vets Stan Lee and Steve Ditko co-created the character in 1963. It would surely be a showy role that Depp could disappear into and make his own like he did with ?Pirates of the Caribbean?s? Jack Sparrow and ?Alice in Wonderland?s? Mad Hatter.
But any talks would have to focus on whether the actor has time to take on the role. He has several films waiting for a greenlight at Disney, including a fifth ?Pirates of the Caribbean? and ?Alice in Wonderland.?
Still Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has long wanted the Doctor Strange character to star in his own solo film as a way to make a movie about magic the way ?Guardians of the Galaxy? pushes it into the sci-fi and space genre and ?Captain America: The Winter Soldier? into political thrillers.
Character fits in with the cinematic universe Marvel is building, with Strange having paired up with Thor and the Avengers, along with Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to battle enemies in the comicbooks. It?s feasible that Doctor Strange would eventually be featured in an ?Avengers? sequel.
There is no word yet on when Marvel is hoping to release ?Doctor Strange,? but it wouldn?t be until at least 2016. Marvel has ?Captain America: The Winter Soldier,? ?Guardians of the Galaxy,? ?The Avengers: Age of Ultron? and ?Ant-Man? bowing before then.

?It would surely be a showy role that Depp could disappear into and make his own like he did with ?Pirates of the Caribbean?s? Jack Sparrow and ?Alice in Wonderland?s? Mad Hatter.? Depp wouldn?t have it any other way. He doesn?t take parts that don?t involve extravagant costumes these days. You could say that his elaborate costumes are some kind of crutch and that the straw that broke the camel?s back was perhaps when Depp plopped a stuffed crow on his head to play Tonto in The Lone Ranger. But just wait ? I?m hoping that if Marvel continues to ?woo? Depp, they?ll end up running away because they?ll realize Depp?s vision for Dr. Strange involves cat taxidermy, ink-black wiglets, bell-bottoms and blowing Marvel?s budget on scarves.
PS… There’s also a rumor going around that Depp has proposed to Amber Heard. Apparently, she was flashing a big diamond ring on Globes night.

Here are some new photos from the London set of Mortdecai, the new Johnny Depp film, where Depp plays some kind of art dealer on the hunt for Nazi gold. One part National Treasure, one part Indiana Jones, and one part typical Johnny Depp, I guess. As we saw last November, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan Mcgregor also have supporting parts in the film. And now we can see that Gwyneth and Johnny (and Jeff Goldblum!) have some scenes together.
Last month, there were some stories about Gwyneth trying to spread her Goop on Johnny and he maybe didn?t appreciate it. I don?t really understand how Gwyneth has ANY A-list friends whatsoever, but she does and some of them seem to like her or at least tolerate her (although I do think it?s interesting that most of her high-profile friendships, like with Madonna and Beyonce, have gone down in flames). It?s possible that Johnny and Gwyneth have known each other for years and they get along just fine. Or it?s possible that Gwyneth exhausts everyone she knows.
So, what does the body language of these photos say to you? I?ve only selected a few from the larger photoset, but here?s my reading: Jeff Goldblum and Goop are tight. They are ass-kissing, flirty friends. He finds her charming and she simpers winningly in his presence. Johnny sort of likes Jeff, enough to joke around with him. But when Jeff leaves the group, Johnny goes to sit down by himself. Gwyneth traipses over to Johnny and he avoids making eye contact with her as she bears down on him, getting closer. She only sits down for a moment before Johnny squirms away uncomfortably. My reading? Gwyneth wants to be ass-kissing friends with Johnny and he?s not into it at all. I bet she was talking about her stupid New Year’s cleanse.

Johnny Depp debuted his new, blonde hair last month in England. He?s working on a new film, and the blonde hair is for a role. Is that a sufficient excuse? That he?s blonde for ?art?? Or are you ?over? Johnny Depp no matter what? Anyway, these are some new photos of Johnny in London filming this new movie. The movie is called Mortdecai, not to be confused with the Biblical ?Mordecai?. It?s a cool name. A cool name I always associate with Luke Wilson?s falcon in The Royal Tenenbaums.
Apparently, the film also stars Ewan Mcgregor and it?s about ?an art dealer, Charles Mortdecai, who hunts for a stolen painting said to contain a secret code which grants access to hidden Nazi gold,? according to Fame/Flynet. So, it?s like that Nicolas Cage movie National Treasure, only instead of Founding Father treasures, it?s Nazi gold. Is it supposed to be a fun family film? Hm.
Anyway, even though I didn?t like the blonde hair at first and even though I think Depp is fully emerged into his mid-life crisis, I kind of see how this period styling definitely helps the blonde hair. He looks like an old-school leading man? I?m struggling to make the reference. Who am I thinking of? Not Charles Boyer. Maybe David Niven a little bit. There?s a dash of Basil Rathbone I think.
By the way, a few weeks ago, it was confirmed that Johnny is going to appear (in a cameo or small supporting part) in his girlfriend Amber Heard?s new film London Fields. They are together in London, working on separate films right now. Just FYI.

Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at the BFI London Film Festival over the weekend to help honor his friend and frequent costar Christopher Lee (the wonderful old dude in the chair). Lee was being honored with the BFI Fellowship, which I?m assuming is some kind of lifetime achievement award (Lee is 91 years old!).
Anyway, as you can see, Johnny looks? different. The most noticeable difference is his BLONDE hair. I?. uh? don?t know what to say. Is this the first time we?ve ever seen Johnny as a blonde? I?m trying to think back through his movies, the entirety of his career? Johnny has worn wiglets, weaves and hairpieces, of course (like most actors), but this is the first time that I can remember him ever being blonde. Something nice: at least his hair isn?t straw blonde or white-blonde or something like that. He tried a blonde that looks somewhat acceptable with the rest of his coloring. Still, it looks like he?s wearing a Brad Pitt wig, right?
Many claim that Depp is blonde for his role as the Big Bad Wolf in Into the Woods, the film adaptation of the Tony-winning musical. Johnny?s in there with Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Christine Baranski and Emily Blunt. Is Johnny?s Wolf a blondie?

Here are some photos of Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer about a week ago at the German premiere of The Lone Ranger. We didn’t cover these photos until now because they’re kinda dull compared to the London premiere with Armie’s crazy red suit, but I guess these pictures are notable for the fact that Armie looks like a wax doll. Johnny looks the same as always if a bit more subdued. It’s gotta be hard to keep promoting a movie that’s already performed poorly in one’s home country, and I’m sure that Johnny feels terrible that his “small contribution to righting the wrongs” hasn’t been met with huge box-office enthusiasm. To add insult to injury, Lone Ranger has been remade into a pr0n parody where “Tonto” will be played by a chick. Ouch.
Poor Johnny. For whatever reason, he skipped the Paris premiere of this movie; and between the bummer-inducing trifecta of Lone Ranger, Dark Shadows, and even his most recent passion project, The Rum Diary (the latter of which had a relatively low budget for a Depp movie but still lost many millions of dollars), the guy needs a vacation from his day job. And reportedly, he’s thinking of taking an extended vacation, as in forever, from acting. We’ll see about that:
He has been wowing movie audiences for over 20 years but Johnny Depp has confessed the end is near for his film career, revealing he wants to concentrate on other ventures.
The 50-year-old actor has hinted that he may step away from the cameras in the near future, saying he feels overworked after starring in well over forty films during his career.
In an interview to be aired on BBC Breakfast on Monday, the actor told Susanna Reid: “When you add up the amount of dialogue you say per year and you realise you’ve said written words more than you’ve had a chance to say your own words, that becomes an insane option for a human being.”
Depp, who’s currently dating his Rum Diaries co-star Amber Heard, insisted there’s still loads of other things [he'd] like to try.
“Are there quieter things I wouldn’t mind doing? Yes, I wouldn’t mind that. I wouldn’t say I am dropping out any second but I would say it’s not too far away,” he added.
Fans shouldn’t start the mourning process yet though as when asked by Reid if he would retire before the rumoured Alice In Wonderland 2 and next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, he added: “No, I think we’re alright in those categories.”

While I think that Johnny definitely needs some time away from the camera to make the audience miss him, Johnny’s words are probably mere evidence of a little bit of pouting on his part. He’s used to being such a huge deal in Hollywood, and the guy has enjoyed decades of box-office success. Sure, he’s had a difficult few years as far as ticket sales go, but he can come back.
Besides, actors threaten to quit all the time, and he’s not going anywhere fast. Johnny has already finished filming Transcendence, and he’s already signed onto Mortdecai, which is a “comic crime thriller” that will feature Johnny wearing a huge mustache (because he can’t go without a disguise for too long) and will also star Goop and Ewan “Feel Free to Tear Off My Kilt” McGregor. In addition, Johnny also has Pirates 5 on the horizon. I’ll bet Amber Heard is looking forward to kissing those Jack Sparrow teeth.

The Lone Ranger saga is not over yet! Here are some photos from the UK premiere of the film where Gore Verbinski and Disney are hoping against hope to recoup some of this movie’s losses. Kaiser and I have both discussed how terribly this film has performed in North America, but the disaster could be somewhat mitigated by a decent international take. As I’ve said before though and even though Johnny Depp’s films usually do great on a global scale, I don’t see Johnny’s fans turning out for this overwrought piece of Americana. I haven’t seen the movie (and don’t plan to do so, but my brother likes everything and walked out after 10 minutes), but here’s the main problem — a $250 million budget before publicity. That’s gotta hurt.
At any rate, Johnny and Armie Hammer are still promoting this cinematic tofurky, and Johnny definitely looks like the movie star that he is at this premiere. Look at that stage presence and total lack of scarves. Johnny cleans up so well.
Compared to Johnny, Armie looks like a total amateur in this red suit. Why so bright, Armie? This suit is pretty awful, and I can’t make any excuses for it at all. And a brown tie? Yuck.
In sharp contrast to her husband, Elizabeth Chambers looked absolutely fantastic. I covet this dress and her hair too.
After the premiere, Johnny took Amber Heard out to dinner at Cipriani. I don’t think these two are going to last at all, but Amber sure is breathtakingly pretty in this red dress. See, this is what red should look like.
