They’re two of the hottest guys in film, and over the weekend Johnny Depp and Sean Connery met for the first time at an awards ceremony.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” hunk and the former James Bond actor were both in the house at a film festival in the Bahamas where Depp was presented with a lifetime achievement award from Connery.
And as the true gentleman that he is, Johnny told press he’s never quite sure what to make of the whole process of getting awards.
“Whenever anybody says they are going to give me some kind of award, I’m always a little stupefied by the notion. The first thing I say is, ‘Why?’ I just go to work like anyone else, except my job happens to be a little stranger.”

He’s been in town all week doing promotional appearances, and earlier today (December 10) Johnny Depp was spotted at the Tokyo, Japan premiere of “Public Enemies.”
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” stud looked dapper in a grey suit as he addressed the crowd of fans gathered at the event, posing for pictures before heading inside.
And though Johnny has given the film his seal of approval, it turns out he hasn’t even watched it as of yet. “I haven’t seen the film yet, but I hear great things about it.”
In real life, Depp says he tries to make friends rather than enemies. “I don’t think I have any enemies, really. The scariest enemy is within, allowing yourself to conform to what is expected of you.”

He’s loved all over the world for his vast body of work and earlier today (December 8) Johnny Depp was spotted arriving in Tokyo, Japan.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” stud was greeted by a massive crowd of fans as he made his way through the Narita International Airport.
In town to promote his latest film “Public Enemies,” Depp looked genuinely touched by the outpouring of love from his Japanese audience.
Johnny paid particular attention to a small girl in a wheelchair, shaking her hand and smiling at her as he made his way to a chauffeured car.

PopEater has an early, hilarious preview of Life & Style?s cover story this week. Apparently, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp got the cover, and the story is all about how they?re going to be working together next year on The Tourist, which is some kind of action-thriller set in Europe. I?m actually not sure if Johnny Depp has signed on for real, but I think at this point, he?s probably doing it. I?m a little sketchy on the plot of the film - I think it involves Depp?s character being on the run, and Jolie?s character chasing him or something. But Life & Style got their hands on the script for The Tourist, and they?re making it seem like the movie is full of sex. Hm? sex? with Angelina and Johnny. Damn. Now, just beware - this excerpt from Popeater reads like a romance novel/fan fiction of their characters? sexual relations. It?s good stuff, too!
In what could be one of the most obscenely hot movie match-ups in history, Angelina Jolie is reportedly set to get hot and heavy with Johnny Depp in ‘The Tourist,’ and according to screenplay snippets given exclusively to PopEater by Life & Style, there might be a whole lot of steam and skin to gawk at. Want to see the juicy love scenes that are sure to burn up the screen?
The stunningly sexy Jolie and PEOPLE’s newly-crowned ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ are set to lock lips (and from the sound of it, a lot more) on screen in ‘The Tourist.’ The screenplay goes into vivid detail about love scenes between the two.
“The outline of her naked body is visible in the shower … Frank walks to the shower and opens the glass door. Walking in, he lifts Cara against the glass, clutching at her slithery body, kissing her frantically. She kisses him back with ardor, wrapping her dripping legs around his back.”
And that’s just where things get started in the ‘Tourist’ screenplay, written by Julian Fellowes. The screenplay goes on to describe a scene in which Jolie’s character of Cara “turns abruptly to Frank and presses her body against his … They exchange a long, passionate kiss.”
Later on, the sexual desires continue, and one scene goes as such: “Their lips meet. They kiss. And kiss. Like drinking from a fresh spring in the desert … Gently, careful, Frank slips his hands into Cara’s cleavage. Surprised, Cara starts to pull back — but Frank puts a finger to her lips. She hesitates, looks at him questioningly. But she doesn’t protest as his fingers move toward her bra.”
Jolie has had her fair share of love scenes on screen, including some with her current boyfriend Brad Pitt, who she became romantically involved with after they met on the set of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith.’ At the time, Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston, but they divorced shortly after.
While Depp hasn’t been officially inked for ‘The Tourist’ just yet, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Children of Men’ director Alfonso Cuaron is set to direct the film.

But the subtext of all of this is that ?Homewrecker Jolie will steal away famously unmarried but partnered Depp when they film their exhaustive, hot, steamy, shower sex scenes where Johnny nails Angelina to a glass door and then some.? So, basically ?Vanessa Paradis should watch her back.? Which I don?t think is totally right - I mean, who?s to say Brad shouldn?t watch his back? Johnny could fall for the Jolie, too. He’s always been a favorite of the ladies, and now it’s official- Johnny Depp has been named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine.
The “Public Enemies” actor has received his second crown as the Sexiest, as he also won the title back in 2003, joining the ranks of Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
And the 46-year-old beat out some stiff competition this year as studs like Robert Pattinson, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, and Gerard Butler have all been making headlines as well.
In addition, it has been reported that Depp is raking in a cool $30 million for the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean” flick- not a bad year for Johnny!

Oh, thank the Lord. People Magazine has made a real man, a wonderful man, a lovely man as their Sexiest Man Alive 2009. The rumor going into this thing was that Robert Pattinson was a lock, what with New Moon coming out and the general Twihard lunacy. But People Magazine went for maturity instead, and chose Johnny Depp, the actor who used to be a teen sensation, but grew up to be one of Hollywood?s greatest actors. No fears, though - Pattinson was chosen as one of the other ?sexiest men? of the year. It?s a list that also includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, Robert Downey Jr., David Beckham, Nick ?Personal Assistant? Cannon, the boys from Glee, Adam ?Women Are Gross and Dirty? Lambert, and John Legend (a personal favorite of mine) - here?s People?s slideshow of their top guys.
Break out the Bordeaux, the whoopee cushions and the bangin’ Keith Richards guitar solos, because the 2009 Sexiest Man Alive party is officially under way.

Just at first glance through the list of the top 15 sexiest men of the year, there seems to be a lack of previous office holders - no Brad Pitt, no George Clooney, no Hugh Jackman, no Matt Damon. They might be on the list somewhere, but they didn?t get pushed and promoted for the top spot.
Johnny is becoming more and more ?establishment? Hollywood by the year, and yet he?s still able to keep his artistic cred, which is cool. Part of the reason may be that he plays the game really well - this year he sat down for an intimate interview with Vanity Fair? and yet, at the end of the day, he didn?t really reveal much. It was also just announced that Johnny Depp is likely the newest highest paid actor in Hollywood. He?s allegedly signed on for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film for a paycheck of $30 million. Now, other actors have earned more for films (I?m thinking Tom Cruise, back in the day, or Tom Hanks), but that?s because they?re getting a percentage of the gross, or a ?back-end? deal. No mention if Johnny has one of those.
In any case, congratulations to our new reigning Sexiest Man Alive! CB threatened to cut me for taking this story. My bad, once again, CB. You deserve it, Johnny!

He’s one of the most successful actors of all time, and Johnny Depp has pledged his help to the financially-strapped Nicolas Cage.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” stud was bothered by the news that Cage was in a bind (owing millions in back taxes) to the point that he called Nicolas up and told him help was on the way.
An inside source told press, “Johnny called Nicolas and basically told him not to worry and he’d help him and sort everything out. Johnny feels he owes his career to Nicolas and now wants to repay him — if Nicolas agrees. Johnny has never forgotten what Nic did for him.”
Back in the 1980s, Cage hooked Depp up with his agent, a move that ended up getting him some pretty big gigs and launched his acting career.

The National Enquirer has a story this week that could possibly be made up, but given Johnny Depp’s reputation as an all-around nice, generous guy I want to think it’s true. Nicolas Cage, who is now over six million in debt to the US government, is almost solely responsible for helping Johnny Depp get his start in show business. Johnny credits Cage with his phenomenal career because Cage is the person who first encouraged him to get into acting. The two were buddies in LA in early 80s, and Cage told Depp, then a musician, that he should give acting a try. The rest is history. According to the Enquirer, Depp heard about Cage’s money problems and gave him a call telling him he would help him out.
When bighearted Johnny, 46, learned of Nic’s troubles, he offered to give him “whatever he needs” to take care of his cash-flow woes, said a friend of Johnny’s.
“Johnny called Nic and basically told him, ‘Look, don’t worry. I’ll help you. You just let me know, all right?’” revealed the friend.
Nic, 4, was touched by the generous offer, but he has so far refused it.
“Johnny has always felt he owes a great debt to Nic, and now he’s ready to repay it - if Nic wants him to,” the source countinued.
Johnny was a down-on-his-luck guitar player with a rock ‘n roll band in the early ’80s when his first wife, a makeup artist, introduced him to Nic. Over a game of Monopoly, Nic suggested the struggling musician try acting.
Johnny later recalled in an interview: “I met (Nic’s) agent, and she sent me to read for a movie (”Nightmare on Elm street”) and they hired me.”…
“Johnny has never forgotten what Nic did for him,” added the source.

Cage could probably really use the help. Most of his luxury properties around the world are being auctioned off to pay his debts. TMZ reported yesterday that two of his homes in New Orleans are now up for auction.
In contrast to Cage’s lavish lifestyle, Johnny Depp lives a relatively low-key life with his longterm partner, Vanessa Paradis, and two children in the south of France. Depp has his share of high-end purchases, though. He owns a 45 acre island in the Bahamas and has wine-making facilities on his French estate. He can afford it. Depp made $72 million in 2007 alone.

Second-in-line to be my dream husband, Johnny Depp, (Matt Damon is first, although it’s nearly a tie now that Depp has quit smoking) is quoted as saying that his greatest fear is that his kids will one day follow his career choice and become actors. Depp is father to John “Jack” Christopher Depp III, 7, and Lily-Rose Melody Depp, 10, with his partner of 11 years, French singer Vanessa Paradis. His family lives a quiet life on their estate in the south of France. Depp, known for being humble, gracious and friendly with fans, has little tolerance for the paparazzi and has said in the past that his children are off limits to photographers. He must worry about their privacy and safety and consider show business a real threat to their well being.
These quotes are being sourced to German magazine Joy, and there’s some speculation on fan sites that this might not be a new interview and is possibly a hodgepodge of old quotes put together. It’s Johnny Depp, though, so we’ll repeat it with a glazed-over look in our eyes. *sigh*

The Pirates of The Caribbean star ? who has 10-year-old daughter Lily-Rose and Jack, seven, with partner Vanessa Paradis ? says he doesn?t want his children to follow in his famous footsteps.
?One thing is certain ? neither of them will ever get bored,? he said. ?I always show them my various costumes and they love it. My children seem to take my job for granted.
?But I honestly hope that Lily-Rose and Jack don?t want to become actors ? that?s my greatest fear!?
?I?m just an actor and not a hero,? added Depp, 46. ?It doesn?t make any sense to me that I should leave the world anything. To me only one thing is really important ? I want my children to be proud of me!?

Depp is quoted earlier this summer as saying that his dream is to someday be able to walk through Disneyland with his kids without being recognized, which is obviously never going to happen. He must have some real personal struggles with the downside of fame, and he doesn’t want his children to ever have to deal with that. Depp is a rare celebrity who has managed to promote his films when necessary and keep his private life under wraps. When he does share something with the public, it seems all the more meaningful. Depp once called his family his “sanctuary,” and explained that they changed his entire life. “I live for them. I finally found a reason to exist in this world. There?s nothing like it. I would give away everything if I could only keep my family. They have given me life, and they?re the greatest gift in the world.” No wonder he wants to protect them from fame, and he’s done an excellent job so far.

There’s news that Johnny Depp isn’t on board for more than just the one additional Pirates movie that he’s already committed to. We heard straight from Depp two weeks ago that he was less enthusiastic about the fourth Pirate installment following the abrupt departure of his friend and ally, Disney studio chief Dick Cook. Depp said “There’s a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment [for Pirates],” and explained that Cook stood up for him and that he trusted him. “I consider Dick a friend inside an insane system. He’s someone I understand and I think he understands me.”
MTV reported that Depp hadn’t yet officially signed a contract for the fourth Pirates, and that he was “waiting to approve the script.” This sparked speculation that Depp wasn’t on board for another Pirates movie. Disney in turn stated through a rep that Depp was fully committed to the fourth Pirates film but that they of course couldn’t comment on additional sequels.
The last two films thoroughly sucked, but they made a lot of money and Disney will probably keep cranking out Pirates sequels until they’ve bled the franchise dry. It wouldn’t seem quite the same without the original lovable naughty rogue in the Captain Jack role. Without Depp and Orlando Bloom (who has said he’s not on board for a sequel) we’ll need some suitable eye candy to help us get through the thoroughly confusing plot. There’s speculation that Disney is necessarily considering replacements, though, and that their boy Zac Efron is a contender. Other names mentioned by MTV are Robert Pattinson, Ryan Gosling, and James Franco:
According to a tip received by Cinema Blend, the studio is preparing to replace Depp if/when he decides to abandon ship. This may not happen with “On Stranger Tides,” as Disney is likely prepared to offer him as much money as it takes to keep him aboard. The actor, who is said to be aware the last two movies “sucked,” will definitely not be sticking around for the fifth and sixth installments if the tipster is to be believed.
Is this sad news for us Jack Sparrow lovers? Certainly, but I don’t believe it’s the end of the world for the “Pirates” franchise. Yes, Jack Sparrow — and Depp’s portrayal of him — is terrific and hardly replaceable, but there are other wonderful actors out there who could at least steer the series on their own. And anyway, it might actually be refreshing to follow the adventures of another sort of pirate — a character unlike (and therefore incomparable to) Sparrow.
The plot of “On Stranger Tides,” which Geoffrey Rush claims may begin shooting next spring, could easily work as a changing of the guard.
It was widely believed until last week that “Tides”‘ story will come at least in part from Tim Powers’ novel, “On Stranger Tides,” which Disney owns the rights to. Powers confirmed last Monday that the fourth movie will “use elements” of the book.
Powers’ novel involves a pirate’s search for the Fountain of Youth. The story leaves room for a young newcomer, a character who aids the pirates in their search for the mythic location, to come aboard. While this could turn out to be Orlando Bloom’s role in the next movie, it seems possible that Disney might use that character instead as a Sparrow replacement. Of course, the studio will need more than just a pretty face if they hope to rival — and/or replace — Depp’s iconic pirate.
It’s easy to be cynical and believe Disney would screw it up by casting someone like Zac Efron or Shia Labeouf as the new lead. Just as nobody wants to see LaBeouf completely take over the “Indiana Jones” franchise — yet — without Harrison Ford, few of these sorts of rising stars are acceptable fill-ins for Depp.
However, I could see the following young men inventing an eccentric character worthy of captaining the series: James Franco; Ryan Gosling; Ben Whishaw; Anton Yelchin; and of course Robert Pattinson
