Looking quite dapper, Johnny Depp was spotted on the set of his upcoming film, "The Tourist," in Venice, Italy on Thursday (May 13).
Wearing a stylish black and white tux, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" stud lit up a smoke after getting fixed up by an on-set wardrobe staffer.
As previously reported by Gossip Center, Johnny stars alongside the lovely Angelina Jolie in the Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck directed thriller/drama.
The film "revolves around Frank, an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart as Elise, an extraordinary woman, deliberately crosses his path."

Still plugging away at his new movie ?The Tourist,? Johnny Depp was spotted filming scenes in Venice, Italy today (May 10).
The ?Alice in Wonderland? actor climbed up a guardrail of a balcony during one of the scenes, sporting a set of men?s pajamas and a dark beard.

Here are Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp enjoying a little downtime in between shooting scenes for The Tourist, in Venice on Friday. I like Angelina in a sweater, and I?m still loving her hair and makeup for this film. Speaking of, the plot of this movie is still totally inscrutable to me. I thought it was a modern-day action/thriller, but the way Angelina is being styled makes me think that maybe it could be a period film? I really don?t know.
Regarding the now-subdued speculation that Angelina and Johnny are enjoying each other?s company, The Daily Mail seems to be the only major publication still trying to make that happen. The Mail claims, upon seeing these photos: ?The actor was snapped rehearsing some scenes for his upcoming film The Tourist with sexy co-star Angelina Jolie. And despite only being just a few years off turning 50, he showed off a youthful and clear complexion that would leave men in their 30s feeling envious. At first glance, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was almost unrecognizable as he was snapped on board a canal taxi in the Italian city. And while Depp, 46, has been lucky to hang on to his youthful looks, working with the gorgeous Angelina, 34, must also be an uplifting experience - for any man. Not that his partner Vanessa Paradis will be pleased about that, having already expressed her concerns about him working with the Tomb Raider star.? Whatever.
But what I did find interesting - for someone like me, who actually likes Angelina?s movies - is a recent interview done with Angelina?s long-time stunt coordinator and collaborator, Simon Crane. Angelina and Simon met on the first Tomb Raider film, and The Tourist marks their sixth project together (they?ve worked together on the Tomb Raider films, Mr. and Mrs, Smith and Salt, amongst others). Note to the tabloids: Jolie?s relationship with Simon is potentially more interesting than her relationship with Johnny Depp. Anyway, Simon Crane was interviewed by The Los Angeles Times, and they even got Angelina on the record about how much she loves working with Simon:
Angelina Jolie and stunt coordinator Simon Crane share a shorthand developed over six movies in which the petite, 34-year-old actress has spent almost as much time harnessed to cables as she has sitting in the makeup chair.
“We know how to write an action sequence that plays to her skill set,” Crane says by phone from Venice, Italy, where he’s now working with Jolie and Johnny Depp on “The Tourist.” “She’s probably more opinionated and stubborn than when we first started. But then, that’s my job ? to tell her what is possible and what is not.”
Judging from the trailers for Jolie’s new espionage thriller, “Salt,” which opens July 23, we have to wonder if Crane ? or Jolie herself ? ever thinks any stunt is beyond the realm of possibility.
“Simon is the best stunt coordinator in the business as he brings each character’s unique personality into the fight scenes,” Jolie says in an e-mail. “We call him ?Dr. Crane’ because he’s the fixer. He’s the man we all call when we need something difficult done.”
“Salt” takes its name from Jolie’s CIA agent, a woman running from all kinds of trouble after being labeled a Russian sleeper spy. Over the course of the movie, Jolie makes like Dr. Richard Kimble, eluding her pursuers by jumping off bridges, hopping across high-rise ledges and leaping out of a helicopter.
“She’s absolutely fearless when it comes to high places,” Crane says. “That’s a fantastic asset to have. You can use her confidence with heights to put her in all kinds of dicey situations and know that she’s going to be convincing pulling it off.”
One example can be glimpsed in the movie’s trailer where Salt, cornered by CIA agents who refuse to listen to her, takes a flying leap, lands on top of a speeding container truck and then jumps from moving truck to moving truck before pushing a motorcyclist off his bike and escaping in a roar of engines. Through the use of cables, harnesses and safety padding, as well as the magic of post-production digital erasing, Jolie made every one of the leaps herself.
“It seems crazy, but it’s true,” Crane says. “We rehearsed everything with doubles, but Angelina was really game.”
Crane calls the bridge jump an “emotional leap” for the character. “No one in her right mind would make that jump,” he says. From there, Salt ditches the French braid and golden blond hair color for basic black, transforming herself into another kind of woman entirely.
That radical shift seems appropriate since “Salt” itself began its life several years ago as a vehicle for Tom Cruise.
“It feels a bit fresher doing all this with a woman,” Crane says, “especially a woman like Angelina, where you can make the action down and dirty. Give her a gun or a grenade and there’s no one better.”

Aw, they seem tight. Too tight? Seriously, if I worked for The Daily Mail, I could whip this relationship into something hot and spicy so fast. Angelina has known Simon longer than she?s known Brad. Scandal! Angelina allegedly demands that Simon is hired for all of her action films. Scandal! Also, by all accounts, when they work together, Simon is responsible for Angelina?s body, pretty much. He oversees her training, he makes sure she?s strong enough for the stunts. I wonder if he has intimate knowledge of her body? Hm? See how easy that is, Daily Mail?

This story is hysterical, and it?s yet another twist on the ?Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie are going to end up doing it, and Brad Pitt will cry and Vanessa Paradis will shank? stories. Apparently, Star Magazine now thinks that Angelina and Johnny will not end up doing it, because Johnny is terrified of Angelina and her Vadge of Doom. Star (via Jezebel) reports that Angelina has been trying to put the moves of Johnny as they?ve been filming The Tourist, but that Johnny is totally ?freaked out? and he?s asked his staff to ?run interference? whenever Angelina comes near him. Um? aren?t they playing love interests in this movie? She might just be standing close to him because they?re in the scene together, just sayin?.
Angie is “humiliated” because Johnny Depp refuses to be seduced by her. The caption here reads: “Sexy Angie is making Johnny so uncomfortable, insiders say, that he’s told his entourage not to leave him alone with her. ‘He and his bodyguards have developed signals,’ reveals a source. ‘When Angelina gets too close, Johnny gives the look and someone runs interference.’”
Here are her methods of seduction on the set of The Tourist: She stands too close, invades his personal space, and once even brushed crumbs off of his beard. BRAZEN HUSSY! Once, the script called for them to kiss ? just a little peck on the lips ? but Angelina used tongue. An insider says: “It totally freaked Johnny out, and he drew away, but Angie just gave him a naughty smile.”

Is any of this true? It?s funny if it is. It would be a great plotline for a farce, with Johnny falling all over himself not to be sucked into the vortex of the Vadge of Doom. Too bad The Tourist seems to be an action-drama!
Anyway, just a little lightness so we can enjoy these lovely photos of them working together. This one is my one of my favorites, because Johnny really does look freaked out!

Here?s Johnny Depp filming The Tourist today in Venice. He cleans up good, doesn?t he? I was getting so tired of those f-cking glasses. I like his trimmed facial hair, but other than that, Depp appears a little too coiffed for my tastes. He looks like he got the Orlando Bloom V05 treatment, you know? Like an hour before these photos were taken, his hair was in curlers. Ah, whatever.
In other Depp news, he and his girl Vanessa Paradis are going to work together in a just-announced film called My American Lover. Paradis will play French feminist Simone de Beauvoir? which is kind of wrong. De Beauvoir was the longtime lover/partner of Jean-Paul Sartre, and Depp will be playing de Beauvoir?s American lover Nelson Algren. Here?s a photo of the real De Beauvoir:

Getting to work on his latest gig, Johnny Depp was spotted on the set of “The Tourist” in Venice, Italy on Monday (March 1).
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” hunk took to a balcony as he geared up to shoot scenes in the film, which co-stars Angelina Jolie.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Johnny has decided to team up with girlfriend Vanessa Paradis in “My American Lover”.
The film is about 20th-century writer Simone de Beavoir, with Depp telling press that Paradis “will play the famed feminist, while he will play her lover, Nelson Algren, whom he describes as real macho.”

Tim Burton?s Alice In Wonderland had its world-wide premiere in London on Thursday night, and the actors and guests brought out their most Through the Looking Glass-esque fashion. I am reminded of that time in college when I took two hits of the most powerful hallucinogen I?ve ever had before or since, and I thought the poster of Keith Moon was attacking me. Actually, the fashion isn?t completely terrible, there were a couple of people who looked nice. Like Johnny Depp up there. He looks like he bathed! I wish he would take off the glasses, though. I wonder if they?re prescription?
Next up, we have the director, Tim Burton, and his wife Helena Bonham Carter, who plays the Red Queen. This is actually one of the better outfits I?ve seen on Helena, although that?s not saying much. She?s wacky and eccentric, and that?s why I like her. She and Tim make a good pair:
Anne Hathaway had my favorite dress of the night, although the fit looks off to me. Anne has lovely breasts, so why does the dress look cinched too-tight around the bust? But the color is brilliant. It photographs differently in every photo, it looks like a strange brown-orange-rose shade. Lovely. Her hair and makeup are superb too.
I would admire the simplicity and elegance of Avril Lavigne?s dress if it was on someone else. But you put a simple dress on a poseur, and all you get are snores. By the way, Avril is there because she did one of the songs for the film. Gasp!
Mia Wasikowska is Alice, and every time I see this girl, she looks different. She?s got that Cate Blanchett quality, where she either looks totally weird and striking, or insanely beautiful. I?m going with striking here. The dress is way too much on such a young girl (she?s 20).
Patti Smith is fabulous, so I won?t say anything about her suit or her hat or her gloves. Keep on truckin? Patti.
Oh, Michael Sheen! I just watched The Queen for the millionth time. I love Sheen, he?s brilliant. He plays the White Rabbit.
That?s about it for the premiere, minus many random British people that I didn?t recognize. I just looked up the full cast for Alice, and so many people didn?t show up! No Alan Rickman (the Blue Caterpillar), no Stephen Fry (Cheshire Cat), no Marton Csokas (swoooon! He plays Charles Kingsleigh), no Christopher Lee (the Jabberwocky). Sad! As for the film itself, it?s getting solid but not glowing reviews - but you know what? Burton?s films are rarely critically acclaimed, although he?s got one of the biggest cult followings out there, and he?s one of the most innovative storytellers working today.
Here?s a little video to get you in the mood. I?ve been humming it this whole time.

Johnny Depp! Shirtless! On the cover of the February issue of GQ. Now, I don?t want to be shanked by CB or any other Depp-loonies, but I thought HuffPo was joking when they labeled this cover ?Johnny Depp?. It doesn?t even look like him. Not how he?s been looking lately. I thought it was some kind of Depp look-alike placeholder on the cover, honestly. But apparently, it?s him. GQ made him their cover boy because he?s been chosen as the most stylish man in the world. Depp can add this honor to his banquet of awards from the past year, including his People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive for 2009, Entertainment Weekly?s Entertainer of the Decade, and his People?s Choice Star of the Decade.
This honor comes with a slideshow on GQ?s site of the most stylish men of the past century. They don?t label them as ?from the past century? but I noticed that Genghis Khan didn?t make it, so I saying ?century?. As for Depp?s inclusion and victory as most stylish? really? I mean, I like his style, he?s quirky and fun and sexy, but I don?t think of him as the most stylish man. But maybe I?m alone.
He does look good shirtless though. Mmm?

Dreamboat Johnny Depp unveiled a lifesize statue of himself at the International Kstendorf Film & Music Festival on Wednesday in southwestern Serbia yesterday. He was smirking and you could tell he got a huge kick out of it. The statue of the 46 year-old didn’t look much like him, even in his 21 Jump Street days, and he found some humor in the situation. Johnny was at the festival on the invitation of Serbian director Emir Kusturica, who said that he plans to cast him as Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa in an upcoming film.
Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp was honoured Wednesday with a life-size statue in Serbia.
“The Pirates of the Caribbean” star had a statue in his image unveiled to him by renowned Serbian director Emir Kusturica during an annual film festival - called Kustendorf - held in a mountain village in southwestern Serbia.
Depp met with Serbian President Boris Tadic upon his arrival on Tuesday.
He was then flown by helicopter to the mountaintop village constructed by Kusturica for one of his movies.
Kusturica, a two-time Cannes Film Festival winner, said he plans to make a movie with Depp.
Depp would play legendary Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa.
“Depp will be my guest for three days,” Kusturica said.
“He will lead several workshops for participants of the festival, drink wine, watch films and visit some locations where he will shoot a film about Pancho Villa.”

Johnny has gained some weight, probably for the recently filmed role as a down on his luck journalist in The Rum Diary. He still looks great to me, but he has more of an adorable quality now.
I would love to see Johnny play a Mexican revolutionary! I quickly read over Pancho Villa’s biography and it’s extraordinary. Villa was a leader in the Mexican Revolution around 1911 and was known for his bold, Robin Hood type tactics. Here are two of his memorable campaigns, as detailed in Wikipedia. “In one notable escapade, he held 122 bars of silver ingot from a train robbery (and a Wells Fargo employee) hostage and forced Wells Fargo to help him sell the bars for cash.” He also printed his own money and “decreed his paper money to be traded and accepted at par with gold Mexican pesos, then forced the wealthy to give forced loans that would allow to pay salaries to the army as well as food and clothes.” The US sent General John J. Pershing and 10,000 troops to pursue Villa, but the mission was abandoned after a year. Johnny will play the hell out of that role.

Making the long trip overseas, Johny Depp was spotted arriving in Belgrade to attend a Serbian film festival on Tuesday (January 12).
According to reports, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor will join Serbian director Emir Kusturica for the festivities in hopes of stemming Hollywood’s effect on film students.
Joined by Kusturica, Depp was also received by Serbian President Boris Tadic upon his airport arrival - with the group then heading off for the festival village Drvengrad in central Serbia.
Scheduled for tomorrow, reports tell that “a life-sized bust of Depp will be unveiled to mark the opening of the third Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival.”
