David Beckham and Tom Cruise have a bromance for the ages. It?s almost as if they?re trying to compete with The Bromance of the Century, Brad Pitt and George Clooney (or ?Pooney? as I like to call them). So Beckham and Cruise (?Buise?? Or ?Crukham??) have known each other since 2003. Since they first met, they?ve totally been BFF, according to a new book about Beckham.
With Cruise?s encouragement, Beckham joined CAA (Creative Artists Agency), got the same PR firm as Cruise, were introduced to all of Tom?s Hollywood friends, and even named his son ?Cruz? as a play on his bromance-buddy?s name. The only love Tom and David haven?t shared - except for, you know, that love - is the love of Xenu. Becks claims that Tom has never tried to force Xenu on him, and that Tom gets that Posh and Becks have got ?their own? faith.

In “The Beckham Experiment,” Sports Illustrated writer Grant Wahl devotes nearly an entire chapter to the bromance between the soccer stud and A-list actor. To hear Becks tell it, Cruise has influenced every major decision he has made since the two met in 2003.
Both David and his wife, Victoria, who celebrated their 10th anniversary on Saturday, shared the “Mission: Impossible” actor’s rep, CAA, and at Cruise’s urging, also hired his L.A.-based PR firm, Rogers & Cowan.
When the couple relocated to L.A., they moved - where else? - just five minutes from Cruise’s home with Katie Holmes on San Ysidro Drive in Beverly Hills. TomKat even hosted the Beckhams’ “Welcome to L.A.” party, with Cruise making the haul from Germany, where he had been filming “Valkyrie.”
In addition, Beckham says he talks to his best mate most days of the week and takes his advice on nearly everything. Tom was influential in Becks’ decision to take a job with the L.A. Galaxy. He also recommended Beckham’s physical therapist and introduced him to another superstar pal, Will Smith.
The Cruise/Beckham families have hung out at Tom’s home in Telluride, Colo., spent Thanksgiving together in NYC and drank loads of wine in Napa while celebrating Victoria’s 34th birthday last year.
Cruise even influenced Beckham’s decision in naming his third son, Cruz.
“I must admit, when [Victoria and I] met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different,’” Beckham told Wahl for the book, due from Crown Publishing on Tuesday. “And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that’s why we got it.”
One thing the brothers from another mother don’t share, however, is a love of Scientology. Beckham is adamant that he has no interest in his pal’s faith. “It’s something I respect, because Tom’s explained to me and Victoria what it’s all about. But he’s never turned around and said, ‘That is what you should be doing,’ because he would never do that. He and Katie have their beliefs … but me and Victoria have also got our own.”

Katie Holmes was raised a Catholic too, but it looks like the barley water took, and Katie has been properly zombified by Xenu. The Pope is like the official Xenu-crusher, but there?s hope yet! So, which do you think Tom Cruise would rather: convert Becks to Scientology, or convert Becks to the love that dare not speaks its name? I joke, I joke. I actually like the Becks-Cruise bromance, it?s cute. They seem more invested in one another than Pooney.

We were having the debate earlier this week as to whether Katie Holmes is pregnant again, or if she?s just bloaty, slouchy and a bad dresser. If she is pregnant, I feel really bad for her, because she?s got a couple of strenuous projects lined up for the next few months. If she?s knocked up, I?d imagine she?ll be sick as a dog. Of course, she already tends to look like a zombie Stepford wife with no fashion sense. So “sick as a dog” might be an improvement.
Before Katie, Tom and Suri fly off to Australia so that Katie can film a creepy thriller, the rumor is still going strong that she?ll appear in an episode of ?So You Think You Can Dance? Granted, it?s a hit show on Fox. The downside is that Katie used to be a promising actress? and now she?ll be guest-starring on a dance reality show. No fears! MSNBC?s The Scoop has the ?real reason? why Katie has signed onto the dance show: because Tom Cruise really wants Katie to do a tribute to Judy Garland. Hand to God! Tom Cruise loves some Judy Garland. Cough cough of course he does cough.
The reasoning behind a Katie Holmes? song-and-dance tribute to Judy Garland is a bit more complicated, though. This is the year of the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, and MGM is doing a lot to promote the reissue or something. MGM and Tom Cruise are tight? so Katie is doing a Judy tribute to be a good wife. Or something. JUDY!!
When you?re Katie Holmes and you?re spotted walking around the studio lot of ?So You Think You Can Dance,? wearing an outfit that looks hijacked from the set of ?Fosse,? word will spread quickly.
Holmes has yet to confirm her ?SYTYCD? participation, and Fox is steadfast with a ?no comment? response, but several sources say that you can expect Holmes to both sing and dance on the reality show.
?She?ll be doing a Judy Garland tribute,? says a source who became close to Holmes when she performed in ?All My Sons? on Broadway last fall.
The logical follow-up question is: Why would Holmes want to be part of the show? One theory: she?s playing the part of the good wife.
It?s the 70th anniversary of the iconic Judy Garland film ?The Wizard of Oz,? which is an MGM property (and here?s where it becomes complex ? stay with me). MGM and Holmes’ hubby, Tom Cruise, are closely linked since the studio was behind the resurrection of Cruise?s production company, United Artists.
MGM, which isn?t a runaway financial success right now, has high sales expectations for the ?Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector?s Edition? DVD, which comes out this September.
Cruise doesn?t have any films from United Artists in theaters any time soon, so the pressure is on for him to contribute to the bottom line. One way to drum up publicity: have Holmes help where she can.
?It?s a lot of dots to connect, but for one, she?s his biggest cheerleader, and she had her eye on the Weinstein Company?s Judy Garland project, but (the role) went to Anne Hathaway,? said another source. ?She has talked about doing musical theater for some time now. And even though it feels strange that she?d do ?So You Think You Can Dance,? it could be good for the next phase of her career.?
Holmes? performance, which MGM says is not a promotional one to benefit the studio, is expected to air later this summer, but there?s no official air date yet.

Is any of this true? Perhaps, but I find that the thread connecting the rationale (Katie Holmes to Tom Cruise to MGM to Judy Garland to So You Think You Can Dance?) a bit confusing. I think it?s much more likely that Katie just likes to dance and be girly, and she thought the whole thing would be really fun. F-ck it, it gets her out of the house, you know? A woman can?t live by Xenu and barley water alone.

Take this report for what it is, a rumor from the British tabloids. Daily Mail gossip columnist Katie Nichols is reporting that when Katie Holmes goes to work on that creepy thriller in Australia this summer, her husband Tom Cruise will be joining her for moral support - and to further the cause of Scientology in Australia. Apparently, the Church of Scientology hasn?t gained any kind of foothold down under, and Tom is going to spend several months recruiting and trying to ?dispel the myths that Scientology is a cult? according to an unnamed source.
This sounds a lot like what happened when Tom was filming Valkyrie in Germany. The German government (and many Germans) consider Scientology to be a cult, and Tom is considered Scientology?s ?face?. During the film shoot, Tom?s presence in Berlin seemed to cause major grief for all involved, despite his meetings with German leaders, where he attempted to convince government officials that The CoS is a legitimate religion rather than a cult engaged in racketeering that doesn?t deserve tax-free status. Now it seems Tom will have to bring his charm offensive to Australia:

Surprising that Scientology didn?t get a bigger boost in Australia when Tom was with Nicole Kidman. Oops, did I just stumble upon one of the reasons for their divorce? Perhaps Nicole was audited one too many times, and she talked! That must be why CoS didn?t take in Australia.
A bit off-topic, but I finally watched Valkyrie this weekend with my dad. My father commented during one of the critical scenes that ?Hitler needed to be audited? which still has me giggling. I actually thought the film was really good, and Tom was great in it. Of course, he was helped by a stellar cast, including Bill Nighy, Eddie Izzard and Tom Wilkinson. Still, it?s a shame that movie wasn?t discusses more as one of Tom?s better performances. All because people think he?s so loopy with the Scientology stuff. Tsk, tsk.

Katie Holmes has already signed on to Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, which is reportedly really making Tom Cruise sad because he wanted to have sex and have another baby. That’s what straight men do, right?
“But Katie was such a hit that she right away landed a film role in The Extra Man, and that led to another movie project,” said the source.
“Katie feels she had to strike while the iron is hot career-wise. Since she’s only 30, she feels there’s plenty of time for more kids,” said the source, especially since she turned down reprising her role in bat-sequel The Dark Knight.
Another hurdle they have to overcome besides the time thing is the lack of foreplay. Tom caresses her naked body like you would a snotty napkin someone left on your table.

New reports are coming out that Katie Holmes is close to a breakdown. What are the causes? Apparently, Tom has been pressuring Katie to have another baby. Katie promised to try after she finished her Broadway run in January, but a second pregnancy hasn?t happened yet. Tom has also been very forceful with his Scientology beliefs - the more Katie fights him on it, the more he pushes back. Added to this is Katie?s grief over her brother-in-law?s death, which has been rough for the whole Holmes family. Katie?s heart might be in Ohio, with her parents and her sister.
Katie Holmes looks brimming with confidence and without a care in the world. But behind the gloss, the 30-year-old star continues to suffer.
Now can reveal that the pressure from husband Tom Cruise, 46, to conceive another child is so immense, friends say she?s close to cracking.
?Suri had her third birthday on 18 April and it was clear at her ?princess party? how much Tom adores her,? a source says.

John Duignan, a member of the cult for 20 years who knows people in Tom?s entourage, explains: ?If she?s under pressure to provide another child, they?ll use very powerful mind-control techniques to help Tom get what he wants. Katie had been in New York, talking to real people and then she was back in the world of Scientology.
?She could crack up. There are lots of suicides among Scientologists ? it?s psychologically very damaging. At least she?s been exposed to outside influences. But it?s difficult to escape, especially with a child.?

What?s surprising to me is this is one of the first hardcore version of the ?Katie?s leaving? reports I?ve read in a while. It?s strange to think that most of the rumors of TomKat?s imminent demise have sort of fallen away. Which makes me think this is probably crap, too. I have no doubt that Katie and her family are going through a rough time with a death in the family. And I don?t doubt that there?s always a struggle with Katie and Tom?s ?faith? in Scientology. Tom Cruise is said to be extending a helping hand to his wife’s recently widowed older sister. He wants to ensure that Katie Holmes’ sister Tammy has the support of her family, and has offered that she stay in his Beverly Hills Mansion with her two sons. From the way this story is worded, it’s unclear if Tammy is going to take him up on the offer or if she’s considering it. Her husband Jeff Freti died of a heart attack on April 12 at the age of 48. They were separated at the time and in the process of a divorce.
“Katie was so worried and upset for Tammy,” an insider told The Enquirer. “They are really close, and Katie wanted to help any way she could.
“The Tom came up with the idea of inviting Tammy and the boys to live with them. It meant Katie could keep a close watch on her sister and help her through this tough time.
“Tom really was a savior. He wants Katie to be happy, and he knew this would make it so much easier for her.”
The Holmes family was deeply touched that Katie and Tom, as well as Tom’s mom, were able to fly to Toledo for the April 20 funeral in spite of their hectic schedules, says another source.
When the burial concluded, Toma nd Katie stayed at the grave with Tammy and Jeff’s sons, 6-year-old Jack and 8-year-old Joe…
Added the insider: “The fact that Tom stepped forward and offered to open his home to Tammy and her boys was a great comfort to Katie, her sister and the entire Holmes family at this difficult time.”

For all the things you can say about Tom Cruise, he does take care of his family and they seem important to him. He genuinely cares about people and that’s touching that he went to the funeral with Katie and that he wants to invite his sister in law to stay at his home. Tom’s mother and sister lived with him for years and he seems to like to have his family members close. That said, I bet Tammy isn’t going to be moving in with her sister and Cruise. She hopefully has strong support from friends and family in Ohio and won’t be leaving home. Her sons also have their friends and family nearby and she probably doesn’t want to uproot them.
It might be kind of awesome to stay in that gorgeous mansion for about a week, but Tom isn’t going to waste any time trying to convince Tammy and her sons to get involved with Scientology. It’s likely that everyone who works on the estate is a Scientologist and that’s got to be surreal to deal with. I’m picturing a scene from Tom’s film The Firm in which he’s suddenly struck by the reality that his plush home and sweet job all come at a very steep price.

What would it be like to be Suri Cruise? Some of the perks: constantly decked out in beautiful doll clothes, sucking on barley water 24-7, never having to walk anywhere, and occasionally munching on flip-flops. What is the downside to being Suri? Xenu, Thetans, couch-jumping, et cetera. There?s one quality that could go either way, though - both Tom and Katie seem to treat Suri as a total princess.
Katie confirmed to US Weekly that not only does Suri love being around Disney princesses, Suri is convinced she is a princess. That?s probably a mix of the doll-dresses plus Suri?s fantasies of being rescued from the tower of the Church of Scientology castle. Katie also says that all of the Disney princess movies are on constant rotation in the Cruise-Holmes household, and Suri?s favorite might be Sleeping Beauty. Sleeping Beauty was my favorite when I was around five years old, but I absolutely hated Snow White. The Evil Queen really scared me.
Suri Cruise is a little princess. After a trip to Disneyland earlier this year, her parents threw her a princess-themed birthday party shortly after turning 3 on April 18.
“We had a great time [at Disney] — she loved it,” Katie Holmes told Usmagazine.com at the Independent Filmmaker Project party in NYC Sunday.
“It was her first time, and she loves the princesses,” continued Holmes. “Actually, she loves being a princess.” Suri is “so smart,” Holmes added.
Is she more of a mommy or daddy’s girl? “She’s both,” Holmes said. “Tom and I are great teammates as parents.”
In addition to dressing like royalty, the tot likes to watch her fave princesses on the big screen. “She loves Sleeping Beauty and all the Disney movies, and that’s great because I get to revisit them all again,” says Holmes.
When not watching cartoons with her daughter, what are Holmes’ favorite flicks?
“That’s a good question — there’s so many! I love Spielberg movies, I love my husband’s movies, Ang Lee’s movies,” she says. “I actually just saw State of Play, and I thought that was a really great movie, a great Russell Crowe movie. I love dramas. I love musicals. So it’s hard. I couldn’t even pick a top five!”
When date night rolls around, it’s not hard for Holmes and husband Tom Cruise to agree which movies to watch. “Luckily, we have similar tastes,” she tells Us.

It?s cute that Tom and Katie indulge Suri?s princess-love, but they might want to try to mix it up a little, just for their sanity. A lot of those Disney songs can get stuck in your head for weeks on end (?I know you/I danced with you once upon a dream…?). Maybe Finding Nemo, or The Sound of Music? Mary Poppins? Probably not yet… Suri?s not done being a princess. I wonder if Tom and Katie will take Suri to see the new Disney princess.

Do people still want to work with Tom Cruise? Apparently, they do. Not only that, studios are shelling out millions of dollars to keep Tom happy. After his neverending Valkyrie press tour, Tom Cruise has been weighing his options for his next role, now that his ?comeback? is complete. Tom has no fewer than three films that he?s seriously weighing - to the point where studios are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a week for script re-writes to make Tom happy. Variety has more:
Tom Cruise is narrowing the prospects for his next film, but no matter which he chooses, he has single-handedly propped up the script doctoring biz: Studios have spent millions of dollars in rewrite fees to custom-tailor projects for the star.
The frontrunners for his next film appear to be Dreamworks drama “Motorcade,” to be directed by Len Wiseman, followed by Spyglass remake “The Tourist” (with Charlize Theron), to be helmed by Bharat Nalluri, and Fox action comedy Wichita (with Cameron Diaz), which James Mangold will direct. Also still in the mix is MGM’s “The Matarese Circle,” which potentially matches Cruise with Denzel Washington and helmer David Cronenberg.
No longer in the mix are Universal Pictures/Working Title romantic comedy “Lost for Words,” to be directed by Susanne Bier, and “The 28th Amendment,” the drama Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck will helm for Warner Bros.
While screenwriters all over town have been taking haircuts on every deal, the script doctors in the Cruise derby have been making as much as $250,000 a week, for two to six weeks, as they hone projects with notes from Cruise. Those writers include Scott Frank, who has been revising the action comedy “Wichita” for Cruise to play an action hero; Richard Curtis, who beefed up “Lost for Words”; and Paul Attanasio, who is now rewriting the rewrite that “Matarese Circle” director Cronenberg delivered.
Meanwhile, Billy Ray continues to hone “Motorcade” with notes from Cruise. Christopher McQuarrie is doing the same on “The Tourist,” which the writer is also producing. (Ray and McQuarrie are not technically script doctors because they’ve been writing these projects for months.) And Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci also did some reworking of “28th Amendment,” which they originally sold as a spec script in 1999.

So is Tom just being fussy? Is Tom Cruise the Biggest Movie Star In the World back in town, throwing around his weight? Or is Tom, a known perfectionist when it comes to his film work, just the same as he always was? Lots of stars ask for and receive re-writes, but usually they?re only working with one script at a time, and the re-writes really aren?t this extensive or expensive. I think the best choices are the one with Cameron Diaz, and the David Cronenberg one. Tom Cruise plus Cronenberg would be really interesting… I would totally pay for that.
