Brad Pitt was out and about in New York yesterday - but he wasn?t schlepping around doing errands at the Stop & Shop. He was filming a commercial for Softbank, a Japanese cell phone company. Judging solely from the pictures, I think the gist of the commercial is that ?Famous Brad Pitt is actually a Servant?. Brad was seen carrying an umbrella- but not for himself - Brad ?stars? with a Japanese sumo wrestler.
This is not Brad?s first ad with Softbank. He filmed a commercial with them last year, when he was seen in France wearing a fruity canary-yellow suit and fedora. Gawker claimed that the ad was directed by Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums) That ad is here.
I really hope they?re paying him a lot of money for these ads, because they?re a little embarrassing. Brad has always supplemented his movie star income with commercials and print ads. In the past, he?s done advertising for Tag Heuer, Edwin Jeans and Dell Computers.

I know you're wondering to yourself how it's possible for the rain to fall on Willy Pitt's head since the heavens always open up and the sun's rays follow him wherever he goes. Brad was shooting a Japanese commercial in NYC and I guess they needed it to rain, so St. Angie probably put in a call to God. She asked him to tell the sun to quit that shit for a while, so Brad can make some money, because baby friends don't come cheap.
And I bet that when St. Angie visited the set, she mistook the sumo wrestler for an overgrown orphan baby and adopted him on the spot. So if you see Brad Pitt carrying around this sumo wrestler on his hip, you know the backstory.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continue to create havoc wherever they go - even if it?s just Angelina, headin? down to the CVS for some cut-rate cashews. (Sidenote: CVS really does have great prices on cashews.) We?ve already heard about the Long Island mothers getting decked out for Brad Pitt sightings at Dunkin Donuts. And we?ve already heard about the Stop & Shop visit for groceries. Now People Magazine has a fawning story about how Brad, Angelina, and all of the kids are superstars in the small community of Oyster Bay, New York.
It?s no secret that I adore Brangelina, but this coverage is a little bit too sickly-sweet, even for my tastes. Here are some examples: The Oyster Bay town supervisor told People, ?When you talk to someone who has met them they’re kind of glowing.? Ick. The manager of the Stop & Shop (where Brange shops with their kids) says her Brad Pitt encounter ?was like a dream?. I mean, bless their hearts and everything, but this is the kind of thing that gives Brangalunacy a bad name. We used to be respectable!
Have Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie gone suburban?
It sure seems that way to the residents of Oyster Bay, NY on Long Island. Recently the celebrity couple have been spotted grocery shopping at Stop & Shop, grabbing food at Dunkin Donuts and picking up supplies at CVS ? and they’re causing jaws to drop wherever they go.
“When you talk to someone who has met them they’re kind of glowing,” Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto tells PEOPLE. “People love saying they saw them. They feel something very special happened to them.”
Venditto adds that everyone who has interacted with the famous family ? who are temporarily living in an expansive home overlooking the bay ? describe them as being friendly. “The reaction across the board seems to be, ‘Wow, they’re very nice people.’ It seems that people like them and like having them here.”
Like a Dream
Katherine Pastore, a manager at the local Stop & Shop, agrees. She spotted them in the store on April 18 with daughters Zahara, 4 and Shiloh, 2 , and says the experience was surreal. “They looked out of place because they were so beautiful,” says Pastore. “They looked like they were airbrushed when they were walking. I went up to Brad and asked if he needed help and he said, ‘No thanks.’ I was looking at him but I don’t really remember it ? it was like a dream.”
Their appearances aside, Pastore says the stars acted like regular shoppers, walking the aisles ? each pushing a daughter in a shopping cart ? and buying items such as pre-sliced watermelon, nuts, tuna fish and toys.
“They were very attentive with their kids. Brad was rubbing Zahara’s back and Angelina was comforting Shiloh when she got a little upset. It was sweet,” adds Pastore.
Town Buzzing
Pitt, 45, and Jolie, 33, might have been calm ? but other people in the store were less than cool. “They must have started calling and texting their friends because people were running up the block to see them,” says Pastore. “I saw a bunch of teenage girls running to get in here.”
Pastore says that after the family left, the store was electrified for the rest of the evening. “All the other customers were just like, ‘Oh, they were here!’ It’s the big buzz of the town. We have had celebrities in before and it’s exciting, but these are the most famous people in the world!”
Jolie also caused a stir when she visited the local CVS. “She was in my aisle and everyone was kind of looking at her or going up to her,” says local resident Alex Reckert. “She looked great. She had on these leggings and sunglasses and signed a few autographs.”
So, what does Reckert think of having Hollywood’s most famous family staying in Oyster Bay? “It’s kind of cool that they’re in town,” she says. “It’s a pretty small place so everyone is talking about it.”

Alright, maybe some of those stories were pretty cute. Oyster Bay residents are probably loving all of the publicity their town is receiving. Think about it - Oyster Bay is the Namibia of 2009. Oyster Bay?s one-person tourist board (just a guess, it might actually be two people) must be shaking with excitement. They?ll probably make signposts after the Brangelina brood leaves - ?This is where Angelina bought corn chips? and ?This is where Brad ordered a chocolate glazed with sprinkles?.
My favorite part of the article was the Shiloh and Zahara story. In the Stop & Shop manager?s defense, those are two beautiful little girls. It?s always interesting to me how Brad and Angelina are splitting up their kids for public excursions. And it seems it?s always Maddox paired with Pax, and Shiloh paired with Zahara. I bet Zahara totally bosses Shiloh around - perhaps even Zahara orders Shiloh to be at her side all the time.

Brad Pitt can?t quit the Dunkin Donuts. We now have our second confirmed Brad Pitt-Dunkin Donuts sighting! In fact, there?s new evidence to suggest that an affection for Dunkin Donuts might be a generational Pitt family thing. Saturday, before heading to a New York airport, Brad, Pax, Maddox and Brad?s parents (Bill and Jane) all headed to a local Dunkin Donuts. Because when you?re going to be in a cramped plane, you want a sugar rush.
After the donut run, Brad took his boys and his parents to Niagara Falls - the New York side. Three generations of Pitts did the tourist thing while Angelina and the girls (and baby Knox) stayed put in the Long Island-Manhattan area. Star has more:

The busy dad, who has been acting as Mr. Mom while Angelina Jolie films Salt, brought sons Maddox and Pax and his parents, Bill and Jane Pitt, to Niagara Falls on Saturday.
While there, they acted as typical tourists — well, tourists who travel with bodyguards — while taking in the sights and riding on the Maid of the Mist.
Despite Brad’s dark sunglasses, trademark paperboy-style cap and wearing the hood of his oversized black sweat shirt pulled over his head, other gawkers knew he was there.
?He was looking good,? Melissa Harris, 17, told Buffalo News.

What will be the tabloid spin on this? ?Brad begs his parents to help him move out!? Or perhaps ?Brad Leaves Angelina! (to go sight-seeing for a day)?. But this move will not dissuade some who see it as proof that Brad?s parents hate their sort-of daughter-in-law (or whatever they call Angelina…perhaps ?grand-baby-mama??). So I?ll just say it… what, Jane and Bill couldn?t spend one night in the same house with Angelina? They hate her so much they couldn?t sleep in a guest room? What, they don?t love their granddaughters as much as their grandsons? Perhaps they just wanted to see Niagara in spring. It?s supposed to be lovely.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s former bodyguard, Mickey Brett, is getting ready to release a tell-all, either in book or TV show form, and possibly both. As you might imagine, Brangelina are not amused. In fact, the book hasn’t even been released yet and the couple is already casting doubt on their former employee’s credibility and have retained a libel lawyer in anticipation.
Burly bodyguard Mickey Brett has tangled with some tough customers, but none so tough as his former clients Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Once they entrusted their lives, and those of their children, to Brett. But now that they’ve learned he’s been thinking about revealing their intimacies in a book, the star couple has come down on him with the fury of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”
Pitt and Jolie, who played married assassins in that movie, have recruited some of the most fearsome libel attorneys in the U.S. and the U.K. to make sure Brett’s lips stay zipped.
Recently we obtained a proposal for a memoir and a TV show, both offering Brett’s first-person account of his years guarding the likes of Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Sly Stallone and Richard Gere.
The main focus of the pitches, though, was Brangelina. Suffice it to say that Brett had fond memories of Jolie, whom he had been protecting since 2001, and less fond recollections of Pitt.
Seeking comment from them, we received a bracing phone call from Marty Singer, the couple’s American litigator.
Singer alleged that Brett wasn’t a reliable source. In fact, he was a “pathological liar.” He said Brett’s lies to U.S. Immigration officials here had led to his being barred from entering this country. Singer said that only recently did Pitt and Jolie discover that Brett, who’d claimed he was a British SAS commando, never even served in the military.
Singer noted that in 1993 Brett was questioned in the murder of British tycoon Donald Urquhart, though he was later released. In 2006, Brett was arrested for assaulting a restaurant owner in Namibia. The same year, in India, he was accused of choking a photographer and arrested for roughing up and making racial insults against some parents who were trying to pick up their kids.
All told, Singer said, Brett had been convicted 11 times of various crimes.
Pitt and Jolie had repeatedly come to Brett’s defense. But they apparently came to have doubts about his style of problem-solving.
As for his book and TV proposals, Singer said Brett was bound by a confidentiality agreement. According to Singer, Brett has now stated that he’d never signed off on the pitches and that many of the yarns attributed to him were fabricated by his ghost writer.
Brett’s attorneys told us: “Our client disputes what has apparently been said by Mr. Singer, but is not in a position to comment further at this stage.”
Brett’s ghost writer, Robin McGibbon, insists that he did not embellish the bodyguard’s stories.
“Mickey was definitely going to consider a book or TV deal if the offer was good enough,” says McGibbon. But at this point, he said, “there’s not going to be any book.”

Tell-all books by former employees are just tacky, and Mickey Bretts sounds like a nut job. But if this book ever saw the light of day, it would be a huge hit and he would be a millionaire. People all over the world want to know about this couple - and Brett knows it. However, would you believe a word of it, if even half these claims from team Brangelina are true? And what’s with Brett’s dislike of Brad Pitt?
Note by Celebitchy: Mickey Brett has a long history with Angelina and it’s been rumored for some time that he was fired for failing to get along with Pitt. This guy beat up several paparazzi in separate incidents and was almost singularly responsible for Brad and Angelina’s very rough security force in Namibia when Shiloh was born. I’m not surprised that he was fired, and am more interested in the fact that Angelina kept him around as long as she did. I bet that this book never sees the light of day though.

Russell Crowe stood up for Brad Pitt last year, and ended up saving Brad from getting sued and having his professional reputation tarnished. It all started while State of Play was in pre-production. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton were signed on to play the two leads - reuniting them at long last since Fight Club. Unfortunately, the script still needed work (in Brad?s opinion) when the writers? strike happened.
Instead of going ahead with a film and a script he didn?t like, Brad pulled out, as did Edward Norton. The director and the producers scrambled, and quickly cast Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck. When Russell signed on, he made the producers promise that they would not seek a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Brad for breech of contract. According to sources, Crowe was adamant about this. What?s weird is that Russell and Brad aren?t even friends, and they?ve barely met in passing a few times. The Daily Mail has more:
Russell Crowe saved fellow star actor Brad Pitt from a multi-million dollar legal bloodbath after Angelina?s other half quit the movie State Of Play.
Crowe, not known publicly for such kindnesses, insisted that Pitt not be hit with a lawsuit.
Actors had been hired, sets had been built - but Pitt wasn’t happy with the script for State Of Play. It couldn’t be re-written because Hollywood’s screen writers were then on strike, so the actor fled.
Universal - the studio bankrolling the picture - was outraged, and in no mood to put up with an actor throwing his toys out of the pram because he took exception to a word or two in a script. Universal’s legal people let it be known they were considering suing Pitt.
Meanwhile, desperate to rescue his movie, the film’s director Kevin Macdonald flew to Australia to meet Russell Crowe.
The Oscar-winning actor told Macdonald he’d be happy to be in the movie but was emphatic about one thing: he told the film-maker and other executives that before any negotiations began he wanted an agreement that Universal and Working Title, the London-based powerhouse company producing the film, would not take any legal action against Pitt.
‘Russell’s view was that the film was going ahead anyway and to pursue Brad would have been punitive as he was always going to suffer the professional embarrassment over the way he left,’ a source close to the actor told me.
There seems to have been no particular reason why Crowe should have shown his benevolent side to Pitt. The two actors barely know each other and, what’s more, Pitt was never told about Crowe’s magnanimous gesture.
Even some at the studio weren’t aware of it. ‘He’s such a t****r,’ said one executive. ‘But sometimes he gets it, and can surprise you.’
As we now know, the movie turned out well, and has become the year’s most acclaimed thriller, with Crowe on good form and Helen Mirren clearly enjoying herself as his editor (and sneaking in a few choice British swear words).
As Helen told me (and I apologise for repeating it here, but it is quite funny): ‘Americans think twat is some form of endearment, so I got away with using that and a few others.’

?Pitt was never told about Crowe’s magnanimous gesture.? Well, he is now. I wonder why this information was released now? Now, after State of Play didn?t do that well at the box office? Could it be that Crowe just mentioned it to someone, and they repeated the story? Is it some kind of public relations strategy to make Russell look like a nice guy? In any case, it was a very magnanimous move on Russell?s part. He probably thought of it as just a professional courtesy amongst actors - one that he hopes comes back to him in some way.

In Touch Weekly?s cover story this week is called ?Brad Moves Out?. Gee, I wonder what it?s about? The ?moving out? story (via Showbiz Spy) is apparently based on last week?s story of Brad jetting off to France for a few days before Easter. Because, yes, in Tabloidville, going to France for a few days is ?Moving Out?.
In Touch doubles down on the moving out story, saying that Brad and Angelina?s recent trip to a Long Island grocery story was just a public relations move - they ?can turn it on for the cameras most of the time?. So, you see, the rumors of a split started because they hadn?t been photographed together for a couple of months, and now that they?re photographed together, it?s ?all for the cameras?. The tabloids get them coming and going:
Relations between Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are at an all time low ? but the two are putting on a show of unity for the cameras.
?Sure, they look happy in photos,? a source tells In Touch Weekly magazine. ?They are actors and can turn it on for the cameras most of the time.
?The cracks in their relationship are getting deeper and deeper.?
The couple ? who raise six children together ? apparently had an argument just before Easter, which is said to have resulted in Brad storming out of their rented Long Island, New York, mansion.
?He told her very clearly that he just can?t live with her anymore,? the source added. ?He said it was over. He was like, ?I?m outta here,? and left.?
It was recently claimed that Jolie had offered Pitt $90 million for custody of their kids.

As far as the claim that Angelina offered Brad $90 million for the kids, it just seems too absurd. In the first place, Angelina doesn?t have that kind of money. Brad does - Angelina doesn?t. Secondly, Angelina wouldn?t take away the kids, not even if they split. Those kids love their father, and what would taking the kids away accomplish?
For people who have been consistent gossip readers for years, this all has a summer 2007 feel to it. That was the time when every tabloid and site were piling on Brangelina, claiming all kinds of crazy things about their demise. Why do the tabloids do it? Is it low circulation? Declining readership? Do they think these split stories are what people want to hear?

My mother is going to be pissed. She reads Patricia Cornwell?s books religiously, and one of her favorite fictional heroines is Dr. Kay Scarpetta. My mother also has mixed feelings about Angelina Jolie (?I think she?s a good person, but screwed up in the head,? my mother always tells me), so she probably won?t be thrilled to learn that Angelina has just signed on to play Dr. Scarpetta. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed the news, and they?re saying that the film won?t be based on any one certain Cornwell book, but will likely be based on ?the series?. The film is in the first stages - they don?t even have a screenplay, so it will likely be a year before principal photography even begins.
Angelina Jolie has signed on to portray crime novelist Patricia Cornwell’s heroine Dr. Kay Scarpetta in a forthcoming movie from Twentieth Century Fox and its Fox 2000 division. The screenplay will be based on Cornwell’s bestselling Scarpetta series of books, about the beautiful, hard-charging medical examiner who solves crimes, but it will not be focused on any one specific novel. The project has yet to hire a screenwriter or a director. Mark Gordon and Geyer Kosinski will produce.

Though my mom has tried to get me into the Cornwell books, I?ve never really felt the need to start in on a new series. I already read the Kinsey Millhone, Alex Delaware and Stephanie Plum serials by Sue Grafton, Jonathan Kellerman and Janet Evanovich! So, basically, I have no idea if Angelina is a good choice for the character of Dr. Kay. From what I remember of my mom?s description, Dr. Kay is tough, smart and super-professional. She?s like CSI-meets-Bones-meets-Tomb Raider, perchance? Damn, now I?m going to have to borrow my mother?s Cornwell books.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt defied the break up announcements by stepping out on Saturday for a spot of shopping, according to a new report. The couple - who are rumoured to be on shaky ground - perused the aisles at a local Stop & Shop in New York, with tots Zahara and Shiloh in tow.“They were here for 30 minutes and left,” Monira Ahmed, who works in customer service, tells Us Magazine.He adds, “They were very friendly. They gave autographs and allowed people to take pictures of them inside…very nice.”Monira says that Angelina was dressed down and, “looked ordinary - not too much makeup. They were simple and humble.”

People Magazine is known as the go-to celebrity mouthpiece. Whenever a celebrity wants to get out an official version of a story, they go to the gold standard, People. Not that People Magazine doesn?t occasionally take sides - they memorably took sides against Balthazar Getty and Sienna Miller by posting several stories that seemed to have been written by Balthazar?s estranged wife Rosetta Getty. They also beat up on Madonna during her divorce to Guy Ritchie. But for the most part, People does try to stay firmly ensconced within the derrieres of celebrities.
This People story ?Brad and Angelina: Fact or Fiction? reeks of Angelina calling up an editor and saying ?Hey, can you refute some of this crap? Okay, thanks!? They run down several of the rumors (but not all) that have been surrounding Brangelina the past couple of months. They?ve got the liquid diet rumor, the adoption and pregnancy rumors and, just for fun, the rumors about all of those Long Island sightings.
The Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie rumor mill has been churning overtime lately. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the stories making the rounds ? and whether they’re fact or fiction:

Suburban Sprawl? Rumor: Now living on New York’s Long Island, the glamour couple now frequent such places as Dunkin’ Donuts. Truth: Yep, they’re living a quiet life these days and were recently spotted grocery shopping at Stop & Shop. True
