Last month Sony rain delayed production of Brad Pitt's next movie days before the game was suppose to start because they didn't like the changes Steven Soderbergh made to the script since his first pitch. Sony has not given up on the Moneyball and has brought in Aaron Sorkin to pinch hit, I mean rewrite the script according to The Hollywood Reporter. Soderbergh is out, but as of now Brad Pitt is still in the line up. Hey if he goes on the DL, then Aaron can bring in another Brad that he has played several games with…Bradley Whitford.

Everyone was in shock last month when Sony Pictures decided to end the $50 million movie starring Brad Pitt, “Moneyball”.
It was pulled just days before the scheduled shooting, but now the movie may be back on.
Writer and creator Aaron Sorkin will be doing a quick re-write of the script, as Sony believed it was too arty and documentary.
Sony also is hoping to add Oscar-winning producer Scott Rudin to the team to try and polish up the movie. The script was originally by Ocean’s series director Steven Soderbergh and screen writer Steven Zaillian.
The movie was based on Michael Lewis’s nonfiction book of the Oakland Athletics and their general manager Billy Beane, who put together a star Major League team, even with no money in the bank.

Brad Pitt was supposed to be working this summer. Months ago he signed on to star in Moneyball, directed by Steven Soderbergh, but then five days before the production officially started Sony Pictures pulled more than $50 million in financing and told Soderbergh and Pitt that they were free to take the project to other studios to see if they wanted to finance the disaster. No studio did. So now Brad is totally unemployed this summer, and the tabloids are in mourning. This was the summer Brad was supposed to be having a secret affair in Los Angeles with Jennifer Aniston! Alas, Brad probably spends his long, hot summer days in his underwear, drinking beer and helping Maddox build pillow forts.
When Sony first pulled the financing, the rationale behind the move was a bit cryptic. Was it because of something Brad did? Do studio executives hate Brad Pitt? Or was it something darker? Now Sony?s head Amy Pascal has spoken to the Los Angeles Times to explain why she pulled the plug. Basically, Pascal claims that Soderbergh wanted to make a friggin? $60 million documentary, and that Soderbergh is too artsy-fartsy for his own good. It sounds like Pascal is still all about working with Brad, though. Blind item: Which Sony executive is a Brangaloonie?
It’s never an easy decision when a studio head has to pull the plug on a big movie, as Amy Pascal did last week when she shut down “Moneyball,” a $58-million Steven Soderbergh film that was set to star Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, the maverick general manager of the Oakland A’s who almost singlehandedly reinvented the way baseball scouts and develops young talent.
The movie, based on the bestselling book by Michael Lewis, wasn’t just in pre-production. It was literally five days away from filming when Soderbergh turned in a new version of the script that Pascal and her Sony team found unacceptable. The decision was so abrupt that the film’s producer, Michael DeLuca, got the call about it while on his honeymoon in Paris. As a courtesy to the talent, Pascal gave them an opportunity to try and set the film up elsewhere, but no other studio has shown any interest. So the movie remains at Sony, but will it ever get made? Will Pitt stick with the project? And what exactly went wrong?
“I’ve wanted to work with Steven forever, because he’s simply a great filmmaker,” Pascal says. ?But the draft he turned in wasn’t at all what we’d signed up for. He wanted to make a dramatic reenactment of events with real people playing themselves. I’d still work with Steven in a minute, but in terms of this project, he wanted to do the film in a different way than we did.”
“Steven wanted to tell the story through these interviews with the real people, as they commented on Beane. But there are lots of ways to tell a true story. We were just more comfortable with what we thought was a wonderful draft from Steve Zaillian.”
For now, the project remains in limbo, with Sony having sunk nearly $10 million into the film already. The studio still needs to find out whether Pitt, who is intensely loyal to Soderbergh, will stay with the project. As Pascal put it: “We really hope we can still make this with Brad Pitt.”
Sony would also have to find a new director who is not only a good fit for the material but would pass muster with Pitt, who has director approval on his films. To find a director with enough stature or buzz to attract Pitt won’t be easy.
The most likely options would be for the studio to go in more of a comic direction — possibilities being Jay Roach or Jason Reitman — or toward a more dramatic choice, like Gary Ross or even George Clooney, who is putting the finishing touches on a two-year production deal with the studio. (My own pick would be someone with a sharp, subversive edge, like Pete Berg.)
Pascal insists there’s no bad blood between her and Soderbergh, saying the two plan to meet in the coming days to discuss other possible projects. In the meanwhile, she remains an ardent believer in the film. “We love this movie, we always have and we still want to make it. It’s a completely innovative way to tell a baseball story. It’s about wanting to believe in magic, which is what baseball is all about.”
I’d still say that makes “Moneyball” a longshot. Or to put it in baseball terms, this is a project that will need to stage a big late-inning rally to put a win up on the scoreboard.
[From The Los Angeles Times]
So it?s not Brad?s fault - and Brad might even leave the project if Soderbergh is being forced out. I did learn something new today - that Brad has ?director approval? on his films. That?s so hardcore, it really is. Very few actors have that - usually the director signs on, and then starts casting a film. But not Brad Pitt - he attaches himself to a project and then gets to bring in the director of his choice. So where has all of that power gotten Brad? Unemployed and passed out in a pillow fort.

| Angelina Brad endorse ban on Zimbabwean blood diamonds | Added 16 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
In 2006, the Marange diamond fields were discovered in Zimbabwe. When Zimbabweans heard that there was a new mine, many rushed out to see if they could find diamonds close to surface of the mine walls. Unfortunately for them, 2006 was also one of the worst years in Zimbabwe?s fragile political system. Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe?s president and brutal despot, was years into his reign of political, financial, military and humanitarian reign of terror. Mugabe cracked down on the illegal miners, and ordered the military to guard the mine, which is rumored to have more than $200 million worth of diamonds, just waiting to be mined. Military control over the mine has been bloody - Human Rights Watch claim that more than 200 people have been killed in or around the mine. HRW also compiled a report called ?Diamonds in the Rough? which describes (through witness interviews) the human rights abuses occurring by the military to those who work in or around the mine.
Most likely in the hopes of bringing more attention, more headline, and more financial support to this issue in particular and human rights abuses in general, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are issuing a statement through their foundation and through HRW. According to HRW?s executive director, ?Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have issued a call for a ban on any sale or purchase of Marange diamonds … until … the mining is not based on the violent abuse of residents in that region.? Here?s more:
Human Rights Watch said Friday that Zimbabwe’s armed forces have taken over diamond fields in the east and killed more than 200 people, forcing children to search for the precious gems and beating villagers who get in the way.
The New York-based organization said its call for a ban on diamonds from the region had received an endorsement from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. A statement from the couple’s foundation was expected later Friday.
“Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have issued a call for a ban on any sale or purchase of Marange diamonds … until … the mining is not based on the violent abuse of residents in that region,” said Kenneth Roth, Human Rights Watch’s executive director.
Zimbabwe’s deputy mining minister, Murisi Zwizwai, has denied the allegations and said the presence of the military is to secure the area.
More than 100 witnesses, miners, police officers, soldiers and children were interviewed for the report entitled “Diamonds in the Rough,” which details allegations of human rights abuses by Zimbabwean armed forces in an attempt to control access to the precious gems.
The human rights group said searchers had gathered evidence of mass graves and accounts of an incident last year when military helicopters fired at miners, while armed soldiers on the ground chased villagers from the area.
“There are hundreds of victims of human rights abuses that are unwilling to come forward for fear of the military,” Zimbabwe researcher Dewa Mavhinga said.
The report also alleges that some of the income from the diamond fields is going to officials of President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU-PF party, long accused of trampling on human rights and democracy in the southern African country.
The international human rights watchdog is calling on Zimbabwe’s coalition government, formed in February, to stop the abuses and prosecute those responsible. It is also calling on the international body that governs the global diamond industry to press Zimbabwe, a participant, to end the illegal trade in Marange diamonds.
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, established in 2002, aims to stem the flow of “blood diamonds” being used to fund fighting across Africa. Participants are forced to certify the origins of the diamonds being traded. This assures consumers that by purchasing diamonds they are not financing war and human rights abuses.
Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch, said the group is calling for the definition of blood diamonds to be broadened to include gems mined through “repression and violent abuses” by governments.
[From The Associated Press]
Obviously, these abuses are wrong and they should be stopped. But I tend to think speaking out about only the human rights abuses in this one mine is tragically narrow-minded. Zimbabwe is totally and completely f-cked, and it?s going to take a lot more than a blood diamond ban to improve the quality of Zimbabweans? lives. However, I do understand that HRW is trying to move the human rights-goalpost forward by choosing this issue, and they?re right. The definition of ?blood diamonds? should be broadened.
As for why in the world Angelina and Brad are going to issue a statement - well, every major media outlet is covering this story as ?Angelina and Brad want blood diamond ban?. How many of them would have carried this story if it was just HRW calling for a ban?

| Did Brad Pitt convince his Republican brother not to run for Congress? | Added 16 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Brad Pitt?s younger brother Doug is often the spokesperson for the Pitt family, so it?s a given that Doug knows a lot about being diplomatic, dealing with the press, and knowing when to keep his mouth shut. Coincidentally, those are great qualities for a politician. When the Missouri state Republican Party was thinking and talking about who should run in Missouri?s seventh congressional district. That seat is currently being held by Rep. Roy Blunt, who is the front-runner for the Republican nomination for the 2010 Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Kit Bond. So the state party is looking for someone young, good-looking, family-oriented, with great name-recognition for the congressional seat. Guess who they wanted? None other than Doug Pitt! Doug is a successful local Springfield businessman and philanthropist, and he apparently is quite the local Republican, unlike his brother Brad, who is quite the liberal Democrat. It?s sort of like a John Steinbeck novel.
Anyway, when Doug?s name came up, Brad apparently convinced his little brother not to run. This is according to the National Enquirer - they claim Brad has ?big plans? for the work he and Doug will be doing together, and they wouldn?t be able to do their work if Doug ran for Congress. Just in the last six months, Doug and Brad (and Angelina Jolie, through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation) have given away more than $2.5 million to Missouri-based charities and causes. There was the $1 million donation to a children?s charity just before Christmas last year; then the $600,000 to Drury University for environmental technology (in the name of their father); and just a couple of weeks ago there was the $1 million donation to a pediatric cancer ward in honor of Jane Pitt. It seems Brad has successfully convinced Doug that there are better ways to help people rather than running for Congress:
Brad Pitt killed his brother Doug?s political career before it even got started.
Instead of a job in Washington, Brad wants Doug to work by his side. Doug, 42, a respected businessman and philanthropist in the family?s hometown of Springfield, Mo. He recently saw his name emerge as a leading choice to run for Congress in Missouri?s conservative 7th district.
But with firm prodding from Brad, Doug put the kibosh on entering his name on the 2010 ballot, a source told the Enquirer.
?Brad has big plans for him and Doug,? the source says. ?They?ve already worked on a few charitable projects together, and Brad wants to see them become even more involved as a team.?
?Brad felt if Doug was serving in Congress, anything they tried to do would smack of political cronyism.?
While Brad, 45, is a well-known liberal, Doug would have run as a Republican, says a friend. Doug jokingly needled his brother: ?Is this your way of trying to keep another Republican out of Congress??
Doug was intrigued with the idea of a political career, said the friend. ?And with the respect that he has, and that famous last name, he would have been a shoo-in.?
?But Brad helped him see that there are other things he can do to help make the world a better place.?
The Pitts have worked together on community projects, but Brad wants Doug by his side not just for humanitarian reasons. He values his business experience and wants him to help with his film production enterprise.
?There?s no one on earth Brad trusts more than his brother,? said the source. ?It Doug had headed to Washington as a politician, brad would have lost a trusted business partner.?
[From The National Enquirer, print edition, July 6 2009]
Honestly, I sort of believe this, and I sort of don?t. I?m not even sure Doug Pitt is really a Republican, but it?s conceivable. What I also find conceivable is that Doug might have had political ambitions. What I don?t buy is that Brad wouldn?t fully support whatever Doug wanted to do - and I don?t think Brad would refuse to support his brother just because of a ?cronyism? charge. It doesn?t make much sense to me - but then again, I don?t live in a Steinbeck novel.

| Brad Pitt's film 'Moneyball' deemed too horrible to finance | Added 16 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
All of that anxiety about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie allegedly being split up for the summer was all for nothing. A few weeks ago it seemed that Brad was going to be spending the summer working on Moneyball with director Steven Soderbergh, filming in Arizona and California. Many tabloid reports had Angelina and kids wanting to spend the summer in France - even though People Magazine?s cover story on the ?rumors? had Angelina and the kids going with Brad wherever he was. It was just announced over the weekend that Brad might not even be filming Moneyball this summer though - the financing from Columbia Pictures just fell through. Apparently, the studio chief Amy Pascal thought the script was pretty horrible, and she was all ?I don?t care if Brad wants to make it, this blows. Screw you guys, I?m taking my money with me.”
Looks like the children of the Jolie-Pitt household are getting one big Father’s Day treat–some extra time with their dad now that his latest movie is in free-fall.
Brad Pitt was slated to begin production on Moneyball in Phoenix, Az. on Monday, with director Steven Soderbergh at the wheel.
Studio Columbia Picture and its honcho Amy Pascal, however, have ditched the project last minute due to major script problems, reports Variety.
The baseball themed flick, a usual Soderbergh hybrid of fictional vignettes and real-life interviews, now has a limited period to find a new home to finance its shooting and distribution.
Agents for star Pitt and director Soderbergh are said to be targeting Paramount and Warner Bros.
[From Radar]
I tend to think that the script really must have been terrible for the studio to pull the money from a film with Soderbergh and Pitt attached. The film was supposed to be about the true story of Billy Beane, manager of the Oakland A?s, and his magical draft system. What?s a little sketchy is that Soderbergh was the one to write the screenplay - so basically a studio chief just told an Oscar-winning director that he blows as a writer.
But could there be another reason for the financing falling through? A source told OK! Magazine that one of the factors might have been Brad?s lack of Fight Club-esque muscles. OK!?s source is a real bitch about it too, saying ?Maybe [Brad] should stop riding his motorcycle and take a spinning class.? Oh, burn!
[Insiders] explain to OK! that this delay in production, which is reportedly due to last-minute conflicts over the script, may end up working in Brad’s favor ? psychologically and physically.
“The location shoot for the film would have kept Brad away from his family, who are all with Angelina Jolie while she films Salt on the east coast,” says the insider. “But with Moneyball on hold, he won’t be jetting back and forth or have to worry about being a long-distance dad. Brad is free to do what he wants until this situation with the film is resolved.”
Some sources tell OK! that Brad already took advantage of the schedule change by flying east to join Angie and the kids for Father’s Day weekend.
One thing Brad might want to do with his free time, says the insider, is hit the gym.
“Brad’s character in Moneyball, Oakland A’s manager Billy Beane, is in the kind of shape Brad used to be in, but anyone who’s looked at photos of him recently can see this is not the ripped hottie from Fight Club,” explains the insider. “Maybe he should stop riding his motorcycle and take a spinning class.”
[From OK!]
As I said before, People claimed that Angelina and the kids were going with Brad, so OK! probably has that part of the story wrong. I think the tabloids were geared up for the multiple covers proclaiming the death of the relationship, and now they?re a little disappointed that Brad is probably going to spend the summer puttering around the French chateau in his underwear, drinking beer and playing with the kids. Scandalous!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have given $1 million through their Jolie Pitt Foundation to aid refugees in Pakistan. Saturday is World Refugee Day and it seems that the Jolie-Pitts are doing their best to bring awareness to the plight of displaced people around the world. Angelina recently released a short PSA for the UNHCR, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, for which she has worked for eight years. It was a very moving 30 second spot in which Jolie told us to remember refugees while scenes of war and people in peril were shown in the background.
Angelina Jolie is scheduled to talk to Secretary of State Clinton in the capital today, but Clinton just fractured her elbow late yesterday and I would bet that the meeting will be canceled or rescheduled. She is also slated to be interviewed by Anderson Cooper in a segment to air on CNN tonight, Thursday.
Brangelina really are the gift that keeps on giving.
In accordance with United Nations Refugee Agency, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation has earmarked $1 million to aid refugees in Pakistan, where continued violence in neighboring Afghanistan and the resurgence of the Taliban have driven millions of people in the region from their homes.
Angelina Jolie has visited Pakistan several times as a UN High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassador, but was unable to ply her trade as an actress there in 2006. Because of security concerns the
A Mighty Heart crew had to move the production from Karachi to Pune, India.
Just last weekend, a $1 million donation was made by the “Brad Pitt family” to establish an endowment fund for the newly named (in honor of Pitt’s activist mom) Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center at St. John’s hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Meanwhile, Jolie is heading to Washington, D.C., on Thursday, aka World Refugee Day, to talk up the cause with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
[From E! Online]
People will argue over this act of philanthropy as they always do whenever Brad and Angelina’s names are mentioned, but it’s hard to deny that they’re doing good in the world and are bringing our attention to some very serious issues. I look forward to seeing Angelina’s interview with Anderson Cooper tonight, but like her brief PSA I’m afraid it will make me cry. It’s powerful to consider the very tough and desperate circumstances that so many millions in the world face daily, and to me that’s what this is about, not this famous couple.
Here’s a link to a charity Angelina has mentioned in the past, SOS Children’s Villages. You can also help refugees by making a donation to the UNHCR through their website.

| Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie donate $1 million to Missouri hospital | Added 16 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
As the years go buy on the Jolie-Pitt relationship, one thing?s for certain - Angelina has been a good influence on Brad?s charitable giving, especially for local issues affecting his home state of Missouri. At the end of 2008, Brad (through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation) donated $200,000 to the Missouri charity Force For Good, which gives money, school supplies, food and clothing to underprivileged kids in the Springfield area. Then, a few months ago, Brad and his brother Doug worked out a $600,000 donation to Drury University to make the on-campus event center meet the U.S. Green Building Council?s Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design (LEED) gold standards. The center will also be named after Brad?s dad, William A. Pitt.
So perhaps Doug and Brad were worried their mom would feel left out. Jane Pitt needed something named after her too, right? So Brad, Angelina and the rest of the Pitt family have worked out a $1 million donation to St. John?s Hospital in Springfield. The money will go towards an endowment fund for pediatric oncology specialists, and the cancer unit will be renamed The Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center.
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and his family donated $1 million to a Missouri hospital over the weekend.
Brad’s bro, Doug, announced the generous contribution to St. John’s Hospital in his hometown of Springfield Saturday. The money will establish an endowment fund to pay children’s cancer specialists, the Springfield News-Leader reports.
The hospital’s cancer treatment unit will be renamed the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center, in honor of Brad’s mom, who is passionate about children’s issues.
Once completed this summer, St. John’s Hospital will become one of six affiliates of the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (one of Jennifer Aniston’s favorite charities).
The endowment fund will also go toward building a new pediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald house and doubling the size of the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.
St. John’s is matching the $1 million donation to help fund the expansion.
[From US Weekly]
That sounds like a plus all the way around - a nice way for the Pitt boys to honor their mother, a nice-sized donation that will help a lot of kids, and a big win for the hospital. Though this report doesn?t say, I would suspect that the money is being donated through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, not as a private donation from Angelina and Brad.

In the neverending saga of the uncool Bermuda Triangle, it?s always a nagging question about who exactly is pulling the media?s strings. Publicist-less Angelina Jolie is often accused - even by the New York Times - of being some kind of master media manipulator, while Jennifer Aniston famously has one of the biggest, most powerful publicists in Hollywood, Stephen Huvane. And then there?s Brad. No one really talks about whether Brad is some kind of master media manipulator. I suppose we don?t give him enough credit? Or maybe he doesn?t care? Who knows?
Anyway, we have yet another denial of a recent tabloid report. The original report was this week?s Star Magazine cover story about Aniston?s limo driver ?telling all? about her secret hotel rendezvous with Brad. Now, the denial - what?s weird is that it hasn?t come from either Brangelina or Jennifer. It comes from the hotel where, according to Star, the exes allegedly got busy. That?s right, people! A spokesperson for the Gramercy Park Hotel is all ?Gross. Jen and Brad didn?t hook up in my hotel!? Take that Huvane. Take that Angelina.
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt didn’t a have secret hotel meetup in New York City, a spokesperson for the Gramercy Park Hotel tells Usmagazine.com.
Tabloid Star magazine touts on its June 22 cover that the exes — who split in 2005 — had an “intimate 1 a.m. rendezvous.” The magazine quotes an unnamed limo driver who says Aniston “breathlessly” called Pitt to say “I’m here!” The magazine claims they spent two hours together at the hotel’s 18th floor Private Roof Club and Garden and were “really careful not to be spotted.”
The entire account? “Not true,” the spokesperson confirms to Us.
Star also brings up a supposed meeting between Aniston and Pitt on April 23 in which they drove around NYC in an SUV together.
That sighting, too, is “a complete fabrication,” Aniston’s rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.
Tabloids constantly link the exes — but even Aniston says she’s moved on, telling Oprah Winfrey last year she felt like the relationship “happened 100 years ago.”
As for reports that Pitt and Angelina Jolie are having issues, a source tells Us: “They have their fights and their moments, but generally things are good. They are happy — Brad loves being a father.?
[From US Weekly]
Ah, yes. ?Brad loves being a father.? But does he love Angelina? That?s the subtext, I suppose. In more Brangelina news, OK! has joined the ?best of the rest? to run a ?Brangelina has issues? story. This, on the heels of what can only be considered Brangelina?s formal denial in this week?s People Magazine. OK! Has more details about Angelina?s birthday celebrations last week - and some of the info contradicts In Touch?s ?Angelina Has A Birthday Hissy Fit? story. Shocking. But there is more info about the birthday cake. Angie got an ice cream cake. And no, it wasn?t erotic:
Long work days, the drama of caring for six kids and nonstop travel would be enough to strain the most stable of relationships ? and it’s no different for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
“Without a doubt, there are problems,” a source tells OK!.
Ever since February, when the duo moved to New York so Angie could begin filming the spy thriller Salt, “something has been off,” says the insider. And though the couple’s rep recently dismissed breakup rumors, OK!’s source confirms that these days, the two “are often not on the same page.”
Angelina’s work schedule is in part to blame: The actress has been spending six to 12 hours a day on the Salt set. “Angie’s constantly tired, and whenever anyone suggests taking time off, she brushes them away,” says the source.
So just where does this leave the troubled twosome? For now, the entire Jolie-Pitt crew is still based on Long Island’s North Shore, where they celebrated Angie’s 34th birthday on June 4 with a custom-made Carvel ice cream cake. Soon, however, the family’s expected to relocate to L.A. where the two megastars hope a change of scenery will render their problems a thing of the past.
“They love each other,” adds the pal. “They are trying to work this out for the sake of the kids.”
[From OK! Magazine]
Meh. Is it wrong that I hope there?s some huge tabloid story breaking very soon? I just think that even the tabloids are getting bored with these endless Brangelina stories. That being said, I?m still wondering about Aniston and the limo driver. How did Star?s information get so bad?
Thanks to Cover Awards for the Star cover.

Remember how we were talking about how Star Magazine has turned into the budget In Touch Weekly? Here?s further proof - while Star is running basically the same old ?Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are meeting each other secretly? story that In Touch has been doing for weeks, In Touch actually managed to either get or make up a real scoop - ?Angelina?s Birthday Ends In Tears?. The headline kind of says it all. Something about Brad ?making an effort? for Angelina?s thirty-fourth birthday last week, but they just ended up fighting. Brad even got Angelina some special Agent Provocateur lingerie. But all of the itchy thongs in the word couldn?t stop Angelina?s anger over Brad?s continuing relationship with his ex-wife. Read this carefully, because I don?t think Brad even stuck around for the birthday cake!
It started out as a very special birthday for Angelina Jolie ? a surprise celebration at her rented mansion on Long Island, N.Y., featuring all six of her children, fresh flowers from the garden, a homemade cake ? and her partner, Brad Pitt, who had put aside his problems with her and flown in from Los Angeles just for the June 4 party.
?Brad made an effort to be with Angie,? says a close friend of the couple?s. ?He was really hoping they would get along and enjoy themselves.?
But, while Brad did go to a lot of trouble for Angelina?s 34th ? presenting her with a specially commissioned painting of their family, as well as lingerie from Angelina?s favorite store, Agent Provocateur ? it wasn?t long before the troubled couple erupted in a fight over Brad?s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston.
?Things were going fine, and then Angie started accusing Brad of meeting Jen in LA,? says an associate. ?It turned into a massive blowup, which left Brad more disillusioned than ever.?
According to another pal, Brad didn?t stick around to argue.
?He told her straight out that he?s had enough and was out of there,? the pal reveals.
Four days later, Brad was spotted visiting Angelina on the Washington, D.C., set of her film Salt. But the pal says they?re just going through the motions for appearance?s sake. ?Angelina has cried a lot of tears over Brad.?
Another confidante agrees: ?This split has been simmering for months, and unless something drastic happens, it is going to boil over very soon. The only thing keeping Brad from officially walking out is their six kids.?
[From In Touch Weekly]
This week?s National Enquirer has a similar story about Brad Pitt spending more time away from Angelina and the kids. But the Enquirer doesn?t mess around with the whole ?Brad is disillusioned? angle. They just go straight for the ?Brad is thrilled to be single again? angle. Apparently, Brad has been missing his old bachelor ways - going to rock concerts, hanging out with las chicas, and drinking to excess. This is weird, because he hasn?t really been a bachelor since before he started going out with Jennifer Aniston, back in 1998:
Brad Pitt is diving head first into the single life, sources say.
As The ENQUIRER recently reported, he and Angelina Jolie have agreed to a lengthy separation, and insiders reveal Brad is reveling in his bachelor status.
“Brad is far from being sad over the split,” divulged an insider. “He’s psyched to have the breathing room to do the things he loves - bar-hopping with guy friends, going to rock concerts and taking trips on his motorcycle.
“And he’s relieved that he can spend as much time as he wants with his female friends and not get grief from Angie about it.”
Brad, 45, kicked off his bachelor days by attending the testosterone-charged Spike TV 2009 Guys Choice Awards, living it up in Los Angeles with notorious hell-raisers Mel Gibson and Jamie Foxx.
And sources say the enforced separation will give Brad the chance to nurture his continuing friendships with exes Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston, along with other close female friends.
“And THAT drives Angelina nuts!” the source said.
[From The National Enquirer]
I don?t really consider this Brad ?longing? for his bachelor stuff, I read it as more of a mid-life crisis. Which I acknowledge Brad is probably going through, and has been going through for several years. So, here?s the question: will Brad be able to go through his midlife crisis without splitting up with Angelina?
