Here are some amazing photos of Charlize Theron walking around LA earlier this week, looking badass. Can I just say? That sweater is the business. I?ve been looking for a designer ID for it, but I can?t find one. Give me a heads up if you can ID it! I like the way she?s just sort of casually carrying that Louis Vuitton purse too. My least favorite part? The booties.
Charlize is riding pretty high right now ? Mad Max: Fury Road is a critical and financial success. Charlize not only got some of the best reviews of her career, but she?s only the central part in what is being called a feminist masterpiece. The feminist love for the film and for Charlize in particular has been remarkable. There?s even a Ryan Gosling-esque ?Hey Girl? Feminist Mad Max Tumblr ? go here to see. It will be interesting to see if a sequel gets made and what the studio involvement will be and if they dilute the feminism.
So with Charlize riding high these days, I?m sure she?s getting even more scripts and offers than ever before. One of those scripts might be? Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. Just FYI: the sourcing on this report is really sketchy and Fifty Shades Darker doesn?t even have a real script yet, because E.L. James wanted to adapt the damn thing by herself and the studio’s compromise was getting her husband to “officially” adapt it.
According to the Venture Capital Post, Charlize Theron is being considered for the part of Elena Lincoln in Fifty Shades Darker. Lincoln, who also goes by Mrs. Robinson, is Christian Grey?s past dominant partner. She also just so happens to be Grey?s business partner and will likely come between Grey and his relationship with Anastasia Steele.
Along with the possibility of Academy Award winning Charlize Theron joining the cast, both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have already agreed to reprise their roles as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Furthermore, according to Venture Capital Post, Cara Delevingne is rumored to be set to play Leila Williams, another of Grey?s submissive partners.
Meanwhile, the character of Jack Hyde has yet to be filled. There is some speculation that either Jai Courtney or Henry Cavill might be up for the role. Hyde is Ana?s boss at the publishing company she works for, which is also owned by Grey. In the books, Hyde has plans for Ana, and his character might very well be the main antagonist in the coming film.
[From Inquisitr]
Henry Cavill should NOT touch this project. Neither should Charlize, although I think she might actually consider it and she would actually be good in the role of an ice-queen dom. I don?t think much of the sourcing, as I said, and I think this sounds more like a ?let?s make up a rumor based on fans? dream-casting? situation, which is par for the course when it comes to the FSOG franchise.

I kind of thought Mad Max: Fury Road would make crazy money for its opening weekend, but it made just $44 million (or thereabouts). I also thought it would win the weekend, but Pitch Perfect 2 ended up scoring just shy of $70 million this weekend too. All in all, it was a good weekend to be a lady. You had two great, well-reviewed and feminist films to choose from. Which brings me to what I wanted to talk about: Mad Max and feminism. Every woman who has seen Mad Max has raved about Charlize Theron?s Furiosa character, and how the whole film seems like a very pro-woman, feminist action film. When Charlize was at Cannes last Friday, she was asked about feminism and her answers were pretty amazing:
Charlize on whether Mad Max is ?sort of a feminist film?: ?You know what I think is even more powerful about it? That I think George didn’t have a feminist agenda up his sleeve, and I think that’s what makes the story even more powerful, especially how the women are represented in it. It’s just very truthful, and I really applaud him for that. I think when we use the word ‘feminism’ people get a little freaked out, it’s like we’re somehow, like, being put on a pedestal or anything like that. George has this innate understanding that women are just as complex and interesting as men, and he was really interested in discovering all of that. I think through just his need and want for the truth he actually made an incredible feminist movie.”
Charlize on truthful representations of women: “It’s crazy that we live in a world, not just in Hollywood, where women get paid less than men for doing the same job. And also just the representation of women in film, it hasn’t been that authentic and true. So when something comes along where women are represented in a truthful manner, all of a sudden, people really respond to it. And it’s kind of like, ‘You guys, this isn’t anything new.’”
What feminism means to her: “Feminism is such a tricky thing to throw around because I don’t think a lot of people know what women mean when they speak in that articulation. Really, what it boils down to is just equal rights.”
[From Fox News and HuffPo]
The ?pedestal? quote is interesting. I don?t think there?s a complaint that ?feminism? means women need to be put on pedestals. I think to many of the MRA-types, the complaint is that feminism means women in charge of everything, not equality between the sexes. But I agree with Charlize?s larger statements, which are basically that this is a feminist film because it has a fully realized, complicated and capable female lead.

Charlize Theron brought her boyfriend to the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Mad Max: Fury Road. Because they are now that couple. Part of me thinks it?s actually a little bit sweet: Sean Penn is 54 years old and he?s finally found a girlfriend who makes him want to travel halfway around the world just to walk on her arm. I?ve already seen a lot of people compare these photos to the many photos of Brangelina walking the Cannes red carpet over the years. I can kind of see that, although for me the Jolie-Pitts will always be more compelling than Theron-Penns.
The first thing I thought when I saw these photos? Angelina in Ungaro at Cannes in 2007. Remember that? A diva in canary yellow in the South of France ? it works. I would even say that Charlize looks better than Angelina in canary yellow. Charlize?s dress is Dior, of course. I like the back of the gown more than the front ? it feels like the front should look smoother? Why are so many Dior looks these days so poorly tailored? Charlize?s diamond earrings are Chopard. Good earring choice. But Charlize usually accessorizes well.
There was a pronounced lack of Tom Hardy photos actually on the red carpet. Like, he doesn?t seem to have posed solo for very long, but he did go to the steps to pose with the cast. Once again, he sort of looks short next to Charlize. Poor Tom. Still? so very hot.

| Charlize Theron in Valentino at the Cannes 'Mad Max' photocall: cute or awful' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ll never understand why some ladies choose the Cannes Film Festival to go dark and goth with their style. These are photos from the Cannes photocall for Mad Max: Fury Road. Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy (UNF) and Nicholas Hoult were in attendance. Charlize did the photocall in this black, fringed Valentino look which? doesn?t really go with the South of France vibe. I mean, she?s got a model?s figure and look so she can pull off nearly anything. But I was expecting a simple sundress or something light. Maybe I just have a gut-check aversion to anything that combines fringe, lace, leather and a high neck. Seriously though? what the hell is this dress?
As for Tom Hardy? these photos made me think of that old Michael Fassbender photoshoot where Fassy is damp and looking like he would do absolutely filthy things. Maybe that?s just where my mind goes whenever I see Tom Hardy, but does he not look? filthy? Good filthy. Filthy like dirty yacht sex in the South of France. But there?s one thing destroying my fantasy of Tom Hardy yacht sex: his high heels. Those are?bad. Like, Tom Cruise Lifts ?. I guess Tom wanted to look tallish knowing that he was going to have to stand next to Charlize? Still? don?t think about his lifts. Just think about how sexy and blokey he looks.
Meanwhile, did you know that some of those MRAs (men?s rights activists) and misogynists are butthurt about this movie? Apparently, there is some crying and whining over the strength of Charlize?s character and how the film has a feminist message. Shocking.

| Charlize Theron Pays Dress Up on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' | Added 9 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

She?s always up for pretty much anything, so when Charlize Theron paid a visit to ?The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon? last night (May 11) she was all about clowning around with the host.
The ?Italian Job? star was in the house to promote her new movie ?Mad Max: Fury Road,? though she found herself playing dress up with Fallon and wearing gold trousers, a sparkly top and some seriously crazy platform shoes.
Thankfully, Theron also got to choose a crazy ensemble for Jimmy, who asked her, "I was a little surprised when I found this in my dressing room, this is what you chose for me?" Charlize deadpanned, ?I thought it would make your shoulders smaller? You are a woman. Your name is Rosetta McKlintog.?

Here are some photos of Charlize Theron at Good Morning America yesterday. She appeared on GMA to promote Mad Max: Fury Road. She talked about some of the same old stuff she?s been talking about for a while, like how she shaved her head for the role, etc. What I find sort of interesting is that Robin Roberts never really says that she thought the film was good or watchable. The only compliment is basically, well, at least you got to play a really strong badass woman. Which is true, I believe Charlize?s character is as tough and badass as any action-dude. Here’s the GMA

Here?s Part 2 of our coverage of last night?s LA premiere of Mad Max: Fury Road. Part 1 is here – that was Tom Hardy, Jason Momoa, etc. What I like about this film and the film promotion is that it?s pretty clear that Charlize Theron is very, very important to the story. She?s not playing an accessory to Mad Max. She is her own character, and some even say that Charlize?s Furiosa is the one driving the plot and Max is secondary. George Miller even brought in feminist Eve Ensler to advise him how to strengthen the female characters in the film. Which is nice, you know?
Anyway, Charlize came to the premiere with her lover Sean Penn. Why is Penn is red and leathery these days? He looks like a ham hock. Charlize is wearing Dior. I feel like I?ve seen her in variations of this same dress about a million times, but this version is fine. It?s flattering, it?s sexy, it?s deceptively simple.
More photos from the premiere? Zoe Kravitz wore this dark Valentino Fall 2015 gown. For a summer movie premiere? It?s a little bit much.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore this great little Rodarte?s Fall 2015 dress. This is one of my favorites ? it feels like a very rock n? roll choice.
Riley Keough was probably my absolute favorite. She wore this leather Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2015 dress. This could have looked bad, you know? It?s burgundy leather after all. But she really pulls it off. She?s such a pretty young woman too.
Thandie Newton isn?t in the film, but she came out anyway. She wore this princess-y Monique Lhuillier Spring 2015. I don?t really have a problem with it.

Charlize Theron covers the June issue of Elle UK. The release of Mad Max: Fury Road is almost upon us. I think the press tour has been pretty interesting so far ? Charlize and Tom Hardy have been doing their own things, doing separate interviews and both have spoken candidly about how they actually did fight on-set. It?s sort of refreshing to hear two adult actors talk about this stuff like actual adults. Like, ?Yeah, we fought but I respect her? and ?Yes, we didn?t always see eye to eye but we?re both professionals.? Charlize?s character in the film is already being called a feminist action hero, and in real life, Charlize is waving the feminist flag too. Some highlights from her Elle UK interview:
Asking for & getting equal pay for ?Snow White? sequel: ‘I have to give them credit because once I asked, they said yes. They did not fight it. And maybe that?s the message: That we just need to put our foot down. This is a good time for us to bring this to a place of fairness, and girls need to know that being a feminist is a good thing. It doesn?t mean that you hate men. It means equal rights. If you?re doing the same job, you should be compensated and treated in the same way.?
The pay disparity on ?American Hustle?: ?When I thought about the temperature out there ? with finding out what Jennifer and Amy were being paid on a set with guy actors who are their counterparts? They?re just as good as any of the guys on there. Yeah, that p*ssed me off!?
Being objectified for her role in 2 Days In The Valley: ?Someone thought it was a good idea to market almost the entire movie on me; objectifying me a little bit. I got a lot of attention from it, but the problem was that, afterwards, it was like, ?We want you to do that again. Can you just do that? And so I didn?t work for almost two years.?’
Working with Sean Penn on ?The Last Face?: ‘Putting aside that he?s my partner, he?s the love of my life; for the first time, I felt that my work was really bleeding into my life and that made it hard. There were moments where I was incredibly unfair to him. And moments where I felt like? he was incredibly unfair to me. But it makes you realise that no matter how complicated it gets, the priority is the relationship.?
[From Elle UK]
Charlize did demand equal pay for the sequel to Snow White & the Huntsman and she did it right after the Sony Hack leak. What was weird about that story wasn?t that Charlize had the stones to ask for more money (good for her), it was that the studio?s default was to pay Chris Hemsworth MORE than Charlize for no real reason. Like, Chris Hemsworth can only carry a movie if he?s got a big hammer. Charlize is an Oscar-winning actress who has already carried a wide variety of films. Why wasn?t she already being paid MORE than Hemsworth, not just the same amount?
As for the rest of it? I believe Charlize is a feminist and I believe she fights for women everywhere and for her own interests. I also think that she sort of kneecaps her own feminist arguments by referring to Sean Penn as ?the love of my life.?

She certainly knows how to turn up the heat, and Charlize Theron is smoking (literally) in her new cover story for the May 2015 edition of W magazine.
Sporting plenty of Cartier bling, the 39-year-old ?Italian Job? actress showcases her flawless physique in a series of snapshots taken by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
In her interview, Charlize discussed what it felt like to have a shaved head while filming her new flick ?Mad Max: Fury Road?- ?It was really fun to shower with my bald head. You have not showered until you?ve showered hairless. That?s all I have to say.?

Real question: why did Esquire?s Photoshop Wizards go crazy on Charlize Theron?s cleavage on this cover? Charlize is not crazy-busty or anything, but she?s got more than this. They actually put in effort to make Charlize look really flat. That whole chest area just looks like a cartoon. Anyway, Charlize covers the May issue of Esquire because she?s promoting Mad Max: Fury Road, which looks really and truly bonkers. In the interview, Charlize talks about her reported on-set fights with Tom Hardy and how much she adores Sean Penn.
On her on-set fights with Tom Hardy: ?We f–kin? went at it, yeah. And on other days, he and George [Miller, the director] went at it. It was the isolation, and the fact that we were stuck in a rig for the entire shoot. We shot a war movie on a moving truck ? there?s very little green screen. It was like a family road trip that just never went anywhere. We never got anywhere. We just drove. We drove into nothingness, and that was maddening sometimes. It?s material that?s really frightening ? we didn?t have a script. Tom and I are actors who take our jobs seriously. Both of us want to please the directors we work with, and when you don?t know if you can deliver on that, it?s a frightening place to be ? and for Tom more than me, because he was stepping into big shoes.?
How her romance with Penn began: “We?ve been friends for twenty years. He was married, I was in a long-term relationship, our spouses?not regularly, but we were in each other?s lives. I think our friendship stemmed from mutual respect?more on my end, because I really didn?t have a body of work twenty years ago, but my love and passion for making films?that was our common ground. And also, Sean liked to have conversations outside of just making movies. That?s sometimes hard to find among friends here, and that?s where our friendship really blossomed.?
Friendship foundation: “It is nice to be in something where the friendship came first. I?ve never had that. There?s a weight to the relationship already that I don?t think you have when you just meet somebody and enter a relationship. There?s a foundation of 20 years that the two of us have shared with each other in all these different ways that is really the foundation of something that has brought a lot of beautiful things into my life. We get so stuck in wanting to predict the future that we forget the moment that we?re in. And the moment that we?re in is just really good.”
Life with Sean: “It?s really good, really nice. The marriage thing is always so strange to me anyway. I love the possibility of anything, but I?m really enjoying myself and the everyday moment and how that coincides with my son and my life and my friends. I?m a very, very, very lucky girl. Very lucky. He?s hot. He is hot. How do you say that in an interview? You?re a forty-year-old woman sounding like a sixteen-year-old. There?s something beautiful about that, but you lack the articulation of really saying what it?s like when somebody walks into your life and makes you see something that you really never thought you?d be able to see. If somebody had said to me, ?This is what it will be,? I would?ve said, ‘F— off.’ As you can see, it makes me smile.”
[From Yahoo & Us Weekly]
She says that at the end of the day, she respected Tom Hardy?s process because he didn?t ?fake-smile? and go through the motions. She also says that Tom left her a gift in her trailer ? a self-portrait he made with a red handprint on the back. This was what he wrote to her: ?You are an absolute nightmare, BUT you are also f–king awesome. I’ll kind of miss you. Love, Tommy.? I feel like that?s probably high praise from Hardy.
As for the Penn stuff? I like it their relationship more when she?s describing it because it sounds real. When Sean talks about Charlize, it feels more like his midlife crisis or an attempt to one-up Robin Wright. Charlize also complimented Sean because he?s ?not that guy? to think that he understands what happens in the world just because he watches CNN.
