Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have been together all year, and I still have zero idea as to the dynamics of their relationship. Charlize pays lip service to this idea of being a powerful, independent, ball-busting woman, but Sean Penn?s history with women shows that he doesn?t really like those characteristics in a woman. Maybe he?s changed. Maybe she?s changed. Maybe he makes her seem grumpy and she makes him seem lighter. I?m telling you, it?s a weird dynamic to figure out. But Star claims that Sean?s old, controlling habits have come back with a vengeance. Sean has been directing Charlize in The Last Face, filming in South Africa, and Star says Charlize hates the way Sean has been treating her:
Charlize Theron is seriously butting heads with her boss?who also just happens to be her boyfriend, Sean Penn! The couple, who are currently filming The Last Face in Cape Town, South Africa, are learning the hard way that mixing business and pleasure doesn?t always work.
Sean is directing the film, while Charlize plays a lead role ? and sources say she?s fed up with his constant criticism. ?Sean is a different person on set,? an insider reveals. ?He?s a perfectionist and it?s driving Charlize insane.?
In addition to interrupting the blonde beauty during her scenes, set sources say the actor also makes her do her lines over and over again and gets upset over her lack of passion. ?Sean the director is not the man Charlize fell in love with,? the source adds. ?They have been arguing big time.? Cut!
[From Star Magazine]
Yeah, it?s Star, but this feels true. The thing is, a lot of people have said that Sean is actually rather nice as a director and he?s just a bastard in real life. Maybe the mix of business and pleasure has been toxic for Sean. I don?t know. Will we be the first in line to yell ?I Told You So? at Charlize if and when this relationship crashes and burns?

| Charlize Theron: 'Modern men should elevate & celebrate' modern women | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Is it just me or does Charlize Theron look really plastic-y in these Modern Luxury photos? It might just be wonky Photoshop or bad makeup. But she?s giving me Priscilla Presley vibes. Anyway, Charlize is still talking about body image and aging and how she?s gotten to a place where she?s really happy with herself and her life. Even though most of us give her a major side-eye about Sean Penn, I have to say? I agree with her that this is the happiest she?s been in a while. Her boyfriend is a sulky curmudgeon and alleged abuser and she?s never been happier. They?re probably going to get married. Sean will probably adopt Jackson too. Anyway, here are some quotes from Charlize about her happiness and self-confidence:
On her body: “I do not have a perfect body! I’m always finding things I can work on, but I definitely have reached a point where I feel comfortable and happy with the way my body looks. I definitely am not one of those people that is constantly counting calories and doesn’t allow myself to enjoy food?I love food. But I just try to be mindful of what I eat and be good to myself.”
She likes to hike with her mom: “My mom and I really enjoy hiking in the morning. There is a great trail around the corner from my house, so I go with [my 2-year-old son] Jackson and the dogs.”
Self-confidence: “I like to think I am a woman who is comfortable [with] and celebratory of my strengths?and indulges in the qualities that make me feel beautiful.?
Finding a modern man: “A modern man should elevate and celebrate the emerging progression of the modern woman. These days women are doing any-and everything, and men are realizing that women are able to do everything they can do. I think at the end of the day, we should be supporting one another, building each other up. We need each other.”
[From E! News]
I don?t have a problem technically with anything Charlize said, if we?re just taking her words at face value. But taken in context with her life right now? does anyone really believe that Sean Penn is a ?modern man? who embraces Charlize?s feminine strength and supports her 100%? I do not. Sean?s past relationships tell a different story ? he likes women who put their careers on hold for him, he likes a woman who makes it all about HIM. But, as I said, Charlize seems genuinely happy these days. Perhaps we should just hit pause on our I TOLD YOU Sos until this relationship crashes and burns.

| Charlize Theron on 20-year-olds: 'They have no f?kin' concept about wisdom' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Over the past few years, it feels like celebrities have really had to go the extra mile to hustle for their side projects and beauty/perfume/modeling contracts. At some point, the celebrity-interview-as-infomercial went majorly mainstream. Some celebrities even get major fashion magazine covers just to promote their side projects nowadays. It?s so weird. But I?m not complaining, because more often than not, the hustler interviews are better than the film-promotion interviews. Anyway, Charlize Theron has a new interview with WWD, promoting her Dior contract (she is the face of J?adore). You can read the full piece here and here are some highlights:
Charlize on maturing womanhood: ?I think that women find their strength and power in their sexuality, in their sensuality within, [through] getting older and being secure within that. It?s ironic that we?ve built the beauty world around 20-year-olds, when they have no f–kin? concept about wisdom, what life is about, having a few relationships below [their] belt and feeling hardships, to grow into [their] skin and feel confident within [themselves] and to feel the value of who [they] are, not because of a man or because of something like that. And I think that?s such a beautiful thing. And that?s why I think people say women come into their prime in their 40s. And then for some reason our society just wants to go?it?s like a dead flower? It?s like we wilt for some reason. And men are like fine wines ? the older they get, the better they get. It?s such a misconception, and it?s such a lost opportunity because that?s when I think women are really in the true moment of their sensuality.?
On her closet, how she sees fashion: ?[Mine] is a really nice closet. But by considered standards of other closets that I have seen, I think [mine is pretty minute]. I have seen images of people?s closets that are like homes, and I literally wonder if you wear every day something different, [whether] you still [would] be able to wear all of that stuff in one lifetime. And that concept bothers me. I?m incredibly lucky, people are very generous and sending me stuff. I never take that for granted, but I?m always very aware that I?m one person and I can?t wear everything. The idea of stuff just hanging in my closet and not being used ? there?s a little bit of the African in me that gets bothered by that [somewhat]. My whole concept in life is if you?re not using it, you should give it to somebody else so they can use it.?
Keeping current politically: ?I really love having an awareness. I don?t want to live in a world with blinders on. I don?t want to live in a world where I just kind of play on my navet ? well if I don?t know it, then it doesn?t exist. I was raised in a country [South Africa] with a lot of political turmoil. I was part of a culture and a generation that suppressed people and lived under apartheid regimes. I don?t know how you can come out of that and not have an awareness for the world. I think that if my life had turned out any other way and I was working in a bank, I would still feel this way about it, because there?s a connection to humanity that to me is really important? I make a real effort to try and live in the real world and not just the dream world.
How her son changed her life: ?The time management of it definitely comes into play. I?m very lucky right now that he is at an age where he can travel with me. He?s not in a structured school, but that?s going to change. Eventually, he?s going be in proper school, he?s going need structure and I will have to manage my time better. I look forward to that. I?m excited for that?. I want him to grow up with a mom that he could see and look at her life with all the mistakes and with all the failures and all the flaws and say, ?My mom lived an authentic life. That was the life she wanted to live.?
[From WWD]
She talks a lot about her son and motherhood and how she?s not going to take on touchy-feely movies just because she?s a mom and she?s still dark and hardcore. Which is probably true. She can be a mom and still be the baddest bitch out there. That didn?t bug me. What bugs me is that Charlize sees herself as an authentic person connected to the issues of the world and yet this is the same woman who compared gossip about her personal life to RAPE.

| Charlize Theron wants to get her enemy, Tia Mowry, banned from SoulCycle | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

One of my favorite stories of the past month was the excellent In Touch Weekly interview with Tia Mowry. You see, Tia Mowry goes to the same SoulCycle in LA as Charlize Theron. And one time, Tia and Charlize were at SoulCycle for the same class and Tia went over to say a simple ?hello? to Charlize. This is what Tia told In Touch Weekly: ?I said ?Hi,? and she actually rolled her eyes and said, ?Oh my God.? I wasn?t over-the-top. I know how to approach another celebrity. Charlize was just mean. I?m just being honest.? It was all very funny because we all believe that Charlize spends most of her time looking like (if not actively wishing she could) cut a bitch. So, it made sense and I think most of us wholeheartedly believed Tia Mowry. Well, funny story. Sources claim Charlize is really pissed at Tia now and Charlize is trying to get Tia kicked out of SoulCycle.
If ?90s star Tia Mowry thought she was hurt when Oscar-winning diva Charlize Theron was ?mean? to her at a spin class recently, Mowry could have a more eye-opening experience in store, that is if Theron gets her way.
Following the exchange at a SoulCycle class in Los Angeles where Theron, who is busy dating Sean Penn these days, was allegedly rude to Mowry, the ?Sister, Sister? star ran to ?In Touch? magazine with the story. That might have been the end of it, but the story went viral, and now, Theron is actively working to get Mowry banned from the upscale spin studio.
?Charlize came in so pissed off after Tia went to the tabloids about her, and she demanded we bar Tia from ever coming back. When the manager refused Charlize just got angrier and said she?d go to the top to make it happen,? said an insider at SoulCycle.
Mowry told ?In Touch? that she approached Theron to say hello and was met with an eye roll and Theron saying, ?Oh my god.? Theron took the issue of the privacy breach to SoulCycle management and raged that she has zero expectation of anonymity during her workout with Mowry around. Management refused to ban Mowry and Theron got even angrier.
?This nobody who was famous for a minute 20 years ago can complain to the tabloids about me but I can?t expect you to protect me from hangers on in your studio?? Theron said, according to employee.
Management said it would handle the situation, but a decision has yet to be made.
?This just feels like a vendetta because Tia spoke up. Charlize used to be kind of quiet and chill when she came to spin, but it looks like dating Sean Penn isn?t doing her any favors.?
[From Dish Nation]
I think Charlize might have a point if a SoulCycle employee had done the dishing, but if it?s just another gym-goer, what recourse is there? None. Charlize is just pissed off that ?this nobody? made her look like a rude a?hole. And Charlize is making it worse by pitching a fit. If she just ignored it, no one would have really cared. I mean, what harm was done? As I said, we already believed that Charlize was rude and bitchy before Tia confirmed it.

| Sean Penn & Charlize Theron want to get married & adopt another kid' soon. | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As we keep seeing, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn are really, really loved up. It?s disconcerting for all of us out here in the cheap seats, but I?ll give them both a little bit of credit. Sean genuinely seems to have chilled out a great deal with Charlize and it?s like we?re seeing a whole new (nice? happy?) person. As for Charlize? would she stick with it if she wasn?t getting something out of it? No. She would not. So, Charlize and Sean are real. And they are serious. How serious? Sources claim that they could marry very soon, and Charlize wants to adopt another kid.
Oscar-winning couple Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have a lot on their agenda during their time in her native South Africa this summer: Shoot new drama The Last Face (he’s directing, she’s starring); get married; adopt a child together.
“They want to get married very soon,” a source tells Us Weekly of the couple’s wedding plans. Theron, 38, “always intended to have another child,” a Penn confidante adds of the actress, already mom to adopted son Jackson, 2.
Eighteen years of friendship and eight months of dating have proven to Theron, 38, that Penn is a father figure. ?Charlize has seen Sean grow up? he?s a wiser soul and much more patient.?
53-year-old Penn, meanwhile, is already dad to Dylan, 23, and Hopper, 20, with ex-wife Robin Wright. Sean has ?become a strong role model? to Charlize?s son Jackson.
A second source notes that Penn has babyproofed his Malibu home and set up a room for Jackson as well. ?They?re looking to the future with a lot of hope!?
“Sean is revitalized with Charlize,” the source says of Penn, who began dating Theron about eight months ago after 18 years of friendship. (It would be the third marriage for Penn, who famously wed Madonna in the late 1980s, and the first for Theron, who split from longtime partner Stuart Townsend in 2010.)
[From Us Weekly, online & print edition]
Well? if it happens, it happens. I don?t think Charlize really cares about marriage, weddings or being a bride. Although perhaps the Penn Dong has changed her mind. It might be a logistics thing too ? it might be easier for them to adopt a second child if they?re married. Right? Married couples are still given priority over single adoptive parents, I believe. Still? it will be very weird to think of Sean and Charlize as husband and wife. Ugh. I hope she knows what she?s doing.

| Charlize Theron & Sean Penn get cozy at Paris Dior show: lovely or unsettling? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sean Penn and Charlize Theron?s romance ? which is now past the half-year mark ? has had the oddest effect on both parties. On one side, every time Charlize stands or sits next to Sean Penn, she looks drop-dead gorgeous by comparison. But she also looks progressively bitchier too. Like, Charlize?s resting bitchface was in full effect in these photos from the Paris Fashion Week Dior show yesterday. She looked pissed off? at the clothes. Beautiful but ANGRY. Meanwhile, on the other side, Sean Penn seems to have chilled out considerably. He used to be the angry one. Now he?s the chilled one, happy to fly to Paris to sit next to his lady at the Dior show. What?s up, Sean? You changed, bro.
Obviously, Charlize is wearing Dior. I wonder if Sean got some Dior Homme for his trouble? Robert Pattinson is the current face of Dior Homme, so maybe Sean didn?t go there. Out of all the women at this runway show (Bedhead is covering some of them in a separate post!), I think Charlize looked the best. Her hair is killing me these days, it looks so good. Her skin looks gorgeous and overall? she just seems to be glowing these days.
I?m also including pics of Zhang Ziyi, who had my second favorite look (minus those shoes), and Marion Cotillard. I?m sorry, but Marion needs to stop wearing Dior. It never agrees with her. I don?t know if she?s just getting Charlize?s second choices or what, but it feels like Marion is getting the worst of Raf Simons? designs.

| Charlize Theron left a $96 tip on a $3.75 purchase at Pinkberry: nice? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some new photos of Charlize Theron, out and about in LA on Tuesday. These are the first photos (that I?ve seen) of Charlize since her whirlwind trip to England last week. And by that I mean these are the first photos I?ve seen since she compared gossip about her personal life to ?feeling raped? in a TV interview. Charlize has not issued any kind of clarifying statement or apology about her comments. Which? I mean, I thought her comments were idiotic, but I kind of like that she hasn?t offered some ?sorry you were offended? apology. She?s owning it. And maybe by owning it, people will just move on? I mean, we haven?t talked about her comments in the days following the interview.
Anyway, Charlize stopped by Pinkberry ? you can see the little yogurt in her hand in one of the photos. As it turns out, Charlize wasn?t carrying any cash or credit cards when she got her yogurt. The Pinkberry clerk let her take her yogurt and Charlize promised to return and pay for the snack. Here?s what happened:
Charlize Theron had a Pinkberry worker thinking she got screwed — the Oscar winner promised to come back to pay her bill, and even though it seemed touch and go for a while … Charlize eventually came through with a HUGE tip.
Here’s what went down — an employee at Pinkberry in Hollywood says Charlize came in Tuesday afternoon, but when it came time to pay her $3.75 tab … she plead poverty, saying she didn’t have money on her.
The employee, Keila, says Charlize promised to come back, but more than an hour passed before Charlize returned (with Sean Penn, no less).
Charlize plays it cool on the way out, but right after that Keila showed us why it was worth the wait — CT left a Benjamin for the $3.75 bill!
[From TMZ]
That?s nice. I like hearing about big tippers. That being said, it?s one of my biggest pet peeves when someone doesn?t carry any kind of cash or credit card and then they?re like ?surprise!? when they want to order some food or something. That?s so foreign to me ? how can you even leave your house (and get in a car!!!!) without carrying your wallet? In addition to that peeve, I?ll share another one: I dislike it when people don?t carry any cash for their less-than-$10 purchases. Don?t whip out your check card for a $3 purchase!! WHY NOT CARRY CASH?! My mom is like that ? she pays for everything, however small, with her check card. It drives me up the wall.
PS? A lot of people think Lainey?s new blind item is about Charlize. I?ll admit, Charlize is the first person who came to my mind too. Does Charlize have a nose-candy problem?

| Charlize Theron: 'I was raised with a really good foundation. I was f?king lucky' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve never realized this before, but holy mother, Charlize really does look like Madonna. It?s dependent on the styling of course, but if you threw a pair of lace gloves and a bustier on her, this would be Like a Virgin-era Madonna. Bless. Anyway, Charlize covers the new issue of Esquire and bad news, the photoshoot is by Terry Richardson. You probably figured that out already because the background is ?p0rn-shoot white wall? and Terry handpicked the most cartoonish photos to use for the editorial. First Sean Penn and now Uncle Terry? Charlize, you need to spend time with better dudes.
As for the Esquire interview, I only got about halfway through before I had to stop. It?s not that Charlize is uninteresting ? she?s always a pretty good interview ? it?s just that Esquire consistently hires some of the worst celebrity profilers working in magazine journalism. The piece is written to death and I?m sure all of the interesting stuff is buried in the last few paragraphs. So, you can read the full piece here (Sean Penn makes a cheerful guest appearance) and here are some highlights:
Her life isn?t aspirational: ?I?m sure some people would be like, ?I would never want to have that life.? Oh, I?m sure there?s a lot of aspects to my life that a lot of people wouldn?t want. Just personal choice things. Like the fact that I?m single at 38. That?s not necessarily what a lot of women want?. I mean unmarried. But I?m just saying, a life is good if it?s the life that you want.?
Dating Sean Penn: ?I wasn?t in any place that I even wanted something like [a relationship]. Then one day you go: Oh, [Jackson?s] almost two now, and he has his little activities that he goes to and he?s got a bedtime now, and you have more time again. And it?s like if you are open to something, if you just let it happen, it will happen. When you least expect it. It was nice to be single and now it?s nice to be not single.?
A Million Ways to Die in the West: ?I don’t think I’m funny in it. But I don’t think that was my job…I don’t do comedies, I mean, I just don’t.’
How she was raised: ?I think I am who I am today because I was raised by parents who instilled certain fundamentals in me. Yes, there were things in my family that weren?t healthy ? like any family but maybe to a little bit more of a severe degree ? but the one thing I can give both of my parents was that I was raised with a really good foundation. I was f–king lucky to be born into that. Self-worth. Being a young girl and not putting your worth into your beauty. That was not something that I was raised with. So when I left home and everybody was like, ?Oh, you?re pretty,? I was like, I don?t even know what that concept means.?
[From Esquire]
The bulk of the conversation, oddly enough, was about Charlize?s turn as Libby Day in the adaptation of Gillian Flynn?s Dark Places, which comes out later this year. I mean, why not talk about A Million Ways, right? That?s the film coming out immediately. But all of that talk was just an excuse for the Esquire writer to ask her a million questions about her father?s death by her mom?s hand and to her credit, Charlize doesn?t punch the writer. She just answers sort of matter-of-factly without saying anything new. Enough already!

I don’t know what’s gotten into Charlize Theron lately. | Charlize Theron covers Vogue, talks Sean Penn: 'I really didn't see it coming' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Charlize Theron covers the new issue of Vogue, the June issue. The theme of the Mario Testino shoot is beachy and athletic, lots of swimwear and resort-collection clothes. It suits Charlize ? she?s got that model figure, but she also looks strong and athletic. She covers the mag because she?s promoting A Million Ways To Die In the West, and Seth MacFarlane is quoted extensively throughout the piece. You can tell he adores her, and she really liked being part of the movie too ? she talks a bit about how she?s typecast as an ?icy bitch,? and how she reveled in the chance to play a different kind of character. You can read the full piece here (she talks over screwdrivers and steaks). She has a lot to say about Sean Penn. It?s actually a really interesting profile and it was difficult to cull the most significant quotes because there were so many.
On marriage: ?I mean, I really do understand the importance and what that ceremony represents to so many people, but it?s just such a personal thing. Let?s put it this way: I never had the dream of the white dress. And watching other people getting married? I think it?s beautiful for them, but to be quite honest, usually I?m sitting there just devastated. It?s supposed to be this night of celebrating love, and all you see is a couple separated all night making sure everybody else is OK. It just looks like a lot of work. And as you get older, you start sifting through the stuff that really matters? A lot of people want to make it about my past, my mom and dad not being in a great marriage, but I will tell you honestly: I have had a good amount of healthy therapy about it, and it really isn?t about that. Because I think that would kind of showcase itself more in a fear of long-term relationships, which I don?t have at all. I want the long-term relationship. And I don?t really know how to invest in the other thing.?
Mommyhood & Sean Penn: ?Look, we?re dating, and I don?t think we were trying to hide anything. We were photographed; the relationship was kind of written about? What I will say is, I was single for a really long time. I was enjoying mommyhood. You just naturally become kind of selfish about your time, and all of it is dedicated to this little thing, whether he needs it or not. And then they get into more of a schedule and you start to think, Wow, wait a second. There?s this passionate creature in me. And going about dating in your late 30s is such a different ball game. I know so well what I want to fit in my life. And the simple answer to that is: Unless he can make my life better? My life is really pretty f–king good?
Friends first with Sean: ?What I guess I am trying to say is: A friend kind of stepped into that role, and I really didn?t see it coming. Sean and I have known each other for eighteen years. We were just really good friends. And it?s been slow going because you are aware that you could screw that up and lose it. We had to think about it. But at the end of the day, it was somewhat effortless. It just kind of naturally happened, and before I knew it, I was in something that was making my life better?the people who really love me can see the effect it has had on me. The last time I was dating, I was 24. I was like, ?Awww, you?re miserable and moody, but I?m just going to forgive that because you?re so cute! Oh, you treat me so badly, but maybe that will change in five years when I have your children!? ? She drains her cocktail and orders another. ?That just doesn?t exist anymore.?
[From Vogue]
See? It?s interesting. I know a lot of people think Charlize?s thing with Sean will end badly, and yes, it probably will. But I don?t begrudge her the relationship. I think Sean makes her happy? for now. We?ll see what it?s like long-term.
She talks more about hitting ?rock bottom? in her 30s and asking for a reference to a good therapist from a friend. She also talks a lot about Jackson, his personality and how she always wanted to adopt, even when she was just a kid herself. She references Stuart Townsend when she talks about adoption, saying: ?But even in my relationship with Stuart, that was something I was very clear about. We had very different ideas of what a family looked like. There?s no judgment; that was not the reason why we broke up, but when we did, adopting was not a last resort for me?it was almost like a first resort.? That?s interesting, isn?t it? I?ll buy that adoption wasn?t ?the reason? they split, but it?s probably a big factor ? he wanted to have biological kids and she wanted to adopt. Interesting.
