Charlize Theron covers the June issue of Marie Claire to promote Long Shot, her comedy with Seth Rogen. Charlize looks amazing in this editorial, and if you?ve seen her in Tully, you?ll understand how impressive it is that she was able to drop the weight she gained for that film. I like that she did a magazine editorial with her dark hair too! Anyway, you can read the Marie Claire cover story here. Charlize chats about being an obsessive person and how she?s in therapy. Some highlights:
On her new film Long Shot: ?I never thought I would be in a rom-com. I don?t think I would know how to do justice to a straight-forward rom-com.?
On why obsession is good for her: ?I?m definitely obsessive. Obsessing is good for me. I?m very focused on the stuff that I really care about, but I do struggle with a bit of OCD, so I have to organize things that I can see: closets, drawers. That has to do with when I feel that things I can?t see are out of control.?
On life in her 20s and being an immigrant: ?My 20s were like ?You can die, so get it done.? I always felt like there was a clock ticking, like everything was life and death, and I?m not a citizen, so if I don?t make it ?
On what she discovered about herself in therapy: ?I didn?t discover therapy until my mid-30s. My reasons for going had a lot to do with South Africa and uncertainty and living with an alcoholic every day of my life. What I discovered was that my life was an all-encompassing thing. It showed me that I can see the big picture and understand the reason to get to a place where I could create a life for my own kids.?
On motherhood: ?I love being a mom. I get up with them at 5:30am every day. I make them breakfast. I pack their lunches. On the weekends, we hang out with family and friends. I?ll cook lasagna for them ? or steak. We do a lot of grilling. We go to Medieval Times.?
On being at peace with her life: ?My 20s were really about getting a lot of stuff out of my system ? wanting to experience the world, do drugs, travel to Turkey for four months with a backpack? and I did all of that, so by the time I had kids, I was really ready. ?You don?t want to be 80 and on your deathbed and wonder what might have happened. If I die tomorrow, I?m at peace with who I am in my life.?
[From Marie Claire]
I?m sure there will be some people who are like ?it?s sad that she never found a life partner,? but what I like about Charlize in recent years is that she keeps showing women that there are different ways to do it and be happy and fulfilled. I think she loves the fact that she?s a single mother with two young children, and she loves that she can have her mom living with her and helping her. That?s her family unit, and it?s not about finding a man. I believe her about how low-key her life is with her kids too it?s not a performative thing of ?see how normal I am with my kids, look at me!? She?s really doing school runs and packing lunches and going to Medieval Times.

| Charlize Theron on Seth Rogen: 'He takes a hit, he gets so smart' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen?s new film, Long Shot, comes out tomorrow. It?s a rom com very much in the style of Seth?s comedies but not so much Charlizes genre. As she told Jimmy Fallow on The Tonight Show, she?s usually in movies where ?I get killed or I kill or I?m just a bitch.? So this should be fun to see Charlize branch out. But it begs the question, what made her choose this film for her first rom-com? Charlize said it was Seth?s talent that got her to take the first meeting but it was his getting stoned that convinced her to make his film. Wait, what? According to Charlize (at the 2:30 mark), Seth becomes a super genius when he gets stoned.
What she said about Seth:
What made you want to do this and work with Seth?
You know, honestly, it was him. I?m a huge fan and I really love the movie that he makes. Not only as an actor, but what he writes and produces. I never thought that I would somehow fit in to that world but he sent me this script and there was something about it that felt grounded enough that it felt like it could really work between the two of us.
He comes off as a stoner but he really puts a lot of thought into everything. I know he does that, but he really is a very good producer
Listen, I have never witnessed anything like it. It?s impressive. The first meeting we had, we knew we had to develop the project. And it took about four or five years for us to develop this, and in the first meeting, I was just really impressed by his confidence, his intelligence, how well he knows story. And then he lit a joint and took a hit off it. It was like I was in the presence of? Einstein. It was like off the charts. No, he takes a hit, he gets so smart, he gets so focused, so creative. I mean literally on days I would just follow him and be like, please smoke. Just smoke ? please, please smoke. We need a hit. We need this movie to do great.
Obviously, as evidenced by Jimmy?s reaction, Charlize?s description of Seth defies any stereotype of stoners. I?ve never gotten stoned, so I?ll take Charlize?s word for it. Most artists feel that something affects their work, be it weed or booze or a location or a mood. I am slightly fascinated by her description though. I remember his plea to Congress for Alzheimer research, he was focused and smart in that. And since CB told us that he is stoned every day, it?s possible we were seeing a stoned, focused Seth testifying before Congress. Which, I mean, would you want to face Congress sober?
Charlize starting the interview talking about her kids and tells some really cute stories. She is also a goddamn champion of Mom Bragging. Every story she dropped made her children out to be golden and yet, the whole thing came off as a comedy routine. No judgment, I?m in awe. I think I might study her technique.

| Charlize Theron got itty-bitty bangs trauma for the NYC 'Long Shot' premiere | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Just this week, I was watching a commercial for Long Shot, and I thought to myself ?Charlize Theron?s hair looks great in this movie.? It really does it?s like the film?s hair peeps were trying to give her Christine Baranski?s bob and it just WORKED. Unfortunately for all of us especially me Charlize?s hair has been a tragedy throughout the promotional tour for Long Shot. She?s been brunette for several months now I guess it?s for a film? and in previous appearances, Charlize has been doing a severe center-part which looked? okay. It wasn?t my favorite, honestly, but she pulled it off. But is she pulling off this mess?!?!
Last night was the New York premiere of Long Shot, and Charlize debuted some itty-bitty bangs. This, ladies and gentlemen, is old-school bangs trauma. Don?t even speak to me about ?trends? or ?Louise Brooks? or ?she do what she want.? This is awful. She looks a decade older AND like she?s auditioning to play another Disney villainess. The suit is Dior, btw.
Seth Rogen has been putting in some effort for this promotional tour and he looks really nice.
Remember all those stories, years ago, about Charlize and Alexander Skarsgard? He has a smallish role in Long Shot and he attended the premiere. I?m into it, even though I?m sure nothing is happening between them right now.

Seth Rogen gets criticized for being an unkempt man-child in life and in movies, but I?ve always considered him an underrated romantic lead. Think about it he almost always has a lot of chemistry with the women he works with, and in real life, he?s married to a beautiful, talented actress/producer/writer. My point is that he has some considerable game, he just hides his game behind a schlubby everyman exterior. My point is also that I think Long Shot looks like silly fun, and that Seth and Charlize Theron look like they had a ball filming it. Here?s the Red Band trailer, NFSW for language.
These are photos from the London premiere of Long Shot last night. Charlize and Seth have been doing a mini-European tour this week, which sort of sucks because they?ve gotten lost in the Avengers: Endgame shuffle, but whatever. The idea is probably that Long Shot is counterprogramming to an enormous movie like Endgame: women will go to see Long Shot because yay, a romantic comedy.
For the premiere, Charlize wore Givenchy, and it looks like a Spanish bolero-influenced ensemble, which is an interesting choice for a London premiere, I guess. I?m a fan of the hot Pink + black combo, but I mostly feel like this was created from two separate looks. I don?t really blame Givenchy for that I don?t want to see the top that ?matches? that fug skirt. Charlize also went pretty severe with her styling slicked back hair, a bright lip, elegant earrings. It?s a look. Honestly, from the waist up, I?m all for it.

| Charlize Theron: 'I?ve been single for 10 years' I?m shockingly available' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen at CinemaCon 2019, the Big Screen Achievement Awards. They were there to promote their latest film, Long Shot, where she plays a presidential candidate and he plays a sort of schlubby guy she used to know, and she hires him to be a speechwriter or something. It?s supposed to be a romantic comedy and judging from the first trailer, Charlize and Seth actually have a ton of chemistry and the story looks really cute. When Charlize was on the carpet, she was asked about romance in her own life, to which she was like ?dude I haven?t had a boyfriend in a decade.?
Charlize Theron is looking to date but is only interested in those brave enough to ask. The 43-year-old actress spoke about her dating life to Entertainment Tonight while at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday. Theron, who was promoting her upcoming film Long Shot, admitted finding a date wasn?t as easy as it looked.
?I?ve been single for 10 years, it?s not a long shot,? Theron said. ?Somebody just needs to grow a pair and step up.? She added, ?I?m shockingly available.?
Her Long Shot costar Seth Rogen was on hand to agree, saying, ?She?s out there!?
Theron replied, ?I?ve made it very clear.?
[From People]
As we?ve discussed on a few of our Gossip with Celebitchy podcasts, one of the great gossip mysteries of the past decade is what went down between Charlize and Sean Penn. They dated from 2013 to June 2015. They broke up, clear as I can tell, because something major happened during the Cannes Film Festival or just after. The thing that happened was so big that Charlize immediately broke off their engagement and began ghosting Penn. And now she?s completely writing him out of the narrative of her romantic history too.
Back in January, people were trying to make Charlize + Brad Pitt happen, but it most seemed like a Breitling-watch-sponsored rumor. Charlize would be who I would choose for Brad, but I think the reality is that he?ll go for someone younger than Charlize.

| Charlize Theron goes brunette in Dior at the Oscars: Aeon Flux Realness? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Some days, I feel like I?m the only person who saw Aeon Flux, the Charlize Theron movie based on the anime series. It?s actually an okay movie, and Charlize is good in it. Charlize really did a LOOK for that movie, and her current look is taking me back. Charlize debuted her new brunette bob at the 2019 Oscars and if her haircut was just slightly more angular, it would be a complete Aeon Flux look. I don?t hate it, I just think she looks so different as a brunette, and? this shade doesn?t do much for her.
Charlize did what she almost always does, which is wear Dior. She?s one of the big faces of Dior perfume, and usually they give her some good looks. The material of this gown didn?t do her any favors, and neither did the color. I saw that a lot of people were like ?she?s one of the worst dressed!? I don?t think so mostly, this was just boring. I absolutely loathe the sleeves/shoulders though. The back is interesting, the necklace is not.
Letitia Wright from Black Panther also got to wear Dior. Dior gave her a much better dress! The detailing on this was gorgeous.

We?re not even done with February and we?ve already had two major Brad Pitt attempts to create some relationship drama. The current attempt is Brad and Jennifer Aniston doing their old-school thing. But in January, Brad was trying to convince us that he and Charlize Theron fell in love over their Breitling watch sponsorship. It was a convenient piece of sponcon for Breitling AND the headlines helped Brad distract from the ongoing shenanigans with Make It Right NOLA and beyond. What was funny was that it felt like Charlize Theron and her people shut it down VERY quickly. Like, Charlize wants no part of it. And as it turns out, she?s still single:
Debunked! Charlize Theron gave an update on her relationship status after being linked to Brad Pitt in January.
?I was making out with myself at 7,? the actress, 43, said during a Friday, February 15, appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. ?I made out with dolls and myself in the mirror. It?s just gross.?
When host Ellen DeGeneres reasoned that she used to practice kissing on her hand, Theron countered that her sweet spot was the bend of her arm, which her Long Shot costar Seth Rogen called ?the arm butt.?
?You practice because it?s like lips and so you can like ?? the Oscar winner trailed off as she laughed and held her arm up to her mouth. Theron then added, ?It?s why I?m single,? to which DeGeneres, 61, replied: ?Try on your hand and you won?t be.?
[From Us Weekly]
Of course shes single Brad is back with Jennifer Aniston, LMAO. I think Charlize has been mostly single since she ghosted the fk out of Sean Penn several years ago. I?m sure she dated here and there, but her biggest priority seems to be her mom and her kids. I also think Stuart Townsend was the one who got away for Charlize they were together for so long!
Charlize was on Ellen to debut the trailer for her new movie, Long Shot. I think this looks sort of cute? You know why it works? Because Seth Rogen?s is schluby, but he treats her like gold, as opposed to ?schluby and he treats her like sh-t.? Also, I bet Charlize and Seth had a ball working on this together.

I totally blanked on Charlize Theron at the Critics Choice Awards I didn?t even notice what she was wearing, although she was in a lot of cutaway shots. As it turns out, she looked GREAT. This gown is Givenchy and she kind of overdressed for the CCAs, but why not, especially if the dress is so good? Mostly, I?m just relieved to see her in something other than Dior. She should mix it up more often. My least favorite thing? The eye makeup is terrible.
Amy Adams in Zac Posen this actually looked beautiful in motion, but it doesn?t photograph that well? It looks so flat. But it was actually a great color and the dress had an interesting sleeve, and she looked amazing in it.
Julia Roberts? Louis Vuitton look is so bad, I?m actually laughing. The half-Capri pants, the mullet skirt, the flat-ironed hair? what is going on with her? I feel like she lost some weight and got a little nip-tuck and now she?s trying to dress differently. She?s never been a fashion girl, but this is just weird.
Rachel Brosnahan in Carolina Herrera. I feel like this was the kind of vibe Julia wanted to have but it fell flat. Rachel looks amazing though.
Issa Rae in Alitte by Jason Rembert. This is a lot of look for the Critics Choice Awards, you know? It?s also got a lingerie feel which? doesn?t fit the event.

| Charlize Theron on adopting: 'I think babies pick us as much as we pick them' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Charlize Theron is the mother of two adopted children, Jackson and August, whom she identifies as her ?daughters? in interviews. Jackson and August are both African-American, and there?s always been some conversation about Charlize, a white woman from South African, adopting two black children on her own. In an interview with Sunday Life magazine (via the DM), Charlize talked (again) about being an adoptive mom and the misunderstandings about adoption.
On parenting: Ultimately, I know that Im a great mum when Im in a good place. But there is such a stigma around the idea of [asking for] help, or not being able to do it all yourself, or do it perfectly. We have to destigmatize it and say theres no shame in that game.
On adoption, Charlize feels, is still misunderstood. She bristles, for instance, at the notion of adopters being seen as doing something good, as saving children, and at the idea that not looking like your child is somehow problematic. I think babies pick us as much as we pick them, so the idea that those packages are going to look exactly like you is such a myth. I believe that. The children ultimately find you.
A story about taking Jackson to a grocery store. As a multiracial family, Charlize and her children come in for some, at times, uncomfortable attention. Someone was touching my kids hair in the supermarket. I mean, stop! You cant do that. How would you feel if I walked up to you and did that? People have good intentions, but they say the worst things. Its ignorance, a lack of knowledge. We have to start talking about it properly.
Staying fit, she says, is a pleasure. Ive never been a couch potato ? I love to do yoga for an hour and a half. Not moving is not good for my head. I dealt with depression for the whole shoot and afterwards, until my body kind of equalised itself.?
[From The Daily Mail]
?I think babies pick us as much as we pick them?? I?ve heard other adoptive mothers say similar things, but I don?t know how much I believe that. It goes to the debate of nature vs. nurture and fate and what is ?meant to be.? I don?t think babies are fated to be with a certain parent, just as I don?t believe babies are these clean slates whose personalities are entirely shaped by nurturing and environment. Its a combination of everything, but I completely understand how Charlize feels like her kids were meant to be with her. As for people coming up to touch her kids? hair? what is wrong with people? For the love of God.
