Here are some photos from last night?s NYC premiere of Begin Again, formerly Can A Song Save Your Life? That?s the film starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. And douche lord Adam Levine, who was also at the premiere. Let?s talk fashion! I LOVE Keira Knightley?s Valentino gown. If you look closely, those gold birds are really well-done. They?re not just cheap-looking appliques. I love this dress! Oh, and in case you’re worried about Keira’s singing, it’s not that bad.
Mark Ruffalo seemed like he was in great mood, which he probably is often enough. Mark?s date for the premiere was his son Keen Ruffalo, who is probably about 12 years old? He?s a cutie. Keen looks like his mom, I think.
And finally, here?s Adam Levine, who came with his fiance Behati Prinsloo. Behati is a well-known model, she?s one of the Victoria?s Secret runway models, but her body looks so different here. Has she always been this thin? Or has she lost weight ahead of their wedding, which is supposed to take place in the next month?

I covered some of the early excerpts from Keira Knightley?s Glamour cover story a few days ago, but Glamour released some new quotes and I wanted to cover them. Keira has been a working actress for something like 12 years. She?s been a full-fledged movie star, with a movie star paycheck, for about 9 or 10 years. I?m sure she has quite a bit of money stocked away, probably something over $20 million and less than $50 million. Besides the fact that she?s one of the most in-demand young actresses out there and getting paid as such, she?s also taken lucrative modeling contracts, for Chanel and the jewelry firm Asprey, amongst others. What I?m saying is that Keira is rich. And to her credit, she doesn?t seem to live a very extravagant lifestyle. But are these quotes patronizing?
GLAMOUR: It was reported recently that you allotted yourself a ?salary? of only about $50,000 in 2012. True?
KK: Yes, it?s something around that. I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that, I get it, but, yes, around that.
GLAMOUR: Forgive me for sounding crass, but it seems awfully little for a household-name Hollywood star!
KK: I think living an [expensive] lifestyle means you can?t hang out with people who don?t live that lifestyle. It alienates you. Some of my best, most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places.
[From Glamour]
Yeah? I mean, I understand what she?s trying to say, but I?ve known wealthy people like that, who like the idea of ?slumming it? and pretending like they were keeping to a budget, and they drive off in their Mercedes S-Class to go back to their mansion. Those people are annoying. Again, I can understand the idea of not wanting to be materialistic, not wanting to flaunt your enormous wealth, but it seems like Keira is patronizing people who actually live on less than $50,000 a year (which, statistically, is most of us).
Keira also says that she didn?t change her name privately to Keira Righton (?I found I couldn?t do it. I couldn?t go there. Yet.?) and that her parents didn?t even understand why she and James bothered to get married.

Here is Keira Knightley getting in some shopping as she heads out in London, England.
She recently covered the latest issue of Glamour magazine, where she talked about giving herself a budget of $50,000.
?Yes, it?s something around that. I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that, I get it, but, yes, around that,? Keira told the mag. ?I think living an [expensive] lifestyle means you can?t hang out with people who don?t live that lifestyle. It alienates you. | Keira Knightley: costar Adam Levine is able to 'play a d?khead very well' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Keira Knightley covers the new issue of Glamour. I actually like this photoshoot a lot ? Keira has done a lot of drab, minimalist shoots as of late, so it?s nice to see her smiling, wearing color and sitting amongst the flowers. It would be nice to see Angelina Jolie do a shoot like this too, right? Keira is promoting Begin Again, formerly Can A Song Save Your Life?, in which she plays the ex-girlfriend of a big rock star who finds her (singing) voice post-breakup. It looks like a sweet movie. Here are some highlights from the Glamour piece:
Keira on her decision to do a romantic comedy: ?With a feel-good film you are always risking going way too cheesy….But maybe I can have a little holiday where I’m not playing a character who is being destroyed.”
Keira on her Begin Again co-star Adam Levine: ?He did play a d-ckhead very well. Actually, I admire him being so willing. To play a d-ckhead is quite a big thing when you are trying to break into film and you want to be likable.”
Keira on getting married: ?When James proposed, I just thought, Well, never done that before. It seemed like a fun thing to do.”
Keira on her teens and early twenties: “There are those who manage that time of their lives really well?doing a lot of partying and making a lot of mistakes and thinking the world is only there for you, but I was way too introverted, and there was always this sh-tload of photographers, who made it worse. When I hit 25, for some reason I didn’t care anymore?I allowed myself to chill out. Since then, everything’s been amazing.”
Keira on stage fright: “I have really suffered from stage fright, or actually camera fright. [Because] you are presenting layers and layers and layers of pretending, and it’s not just you but other people in charge of your face or your body or your hair.”
[From Glamour]
For some reason, I kind of believe her about her engagement and marriage. She had been a serial monogamist up until then, happy to live with a guy and she didn?t seem to be striving for ?the ring.? When her first wedding anniversary came up, she didn?t even remember it. I think she got married because James asked her and thought it sounded like fun. Which is a nice way to go through life. I also think she?s honest about how tightly wound she was in her early 20s, when she was navigating fame and taking it all so seriously. She really seemed lighter, happier, less neurotic in her late 20s.
Also: yeah, it’s not difficult for Adam Levine to “play” a douchebag. Shock.

| Keira Knightley: 'Feminism is' the recognition that we are still not equal' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Keira Knightley covers the July issue of ELLE UK. It?s a pretty uninspired cover, right? I expect more from Keira and from ELLE UK. She?s wearing Gucci on the cover, and in the editorial, she wears Saint Laurent, D&G and MiuMiu. In the interview, she talks about her new movie, Begin Again (that?s the one with Mark Ruffalo) and she touches on The Imitation Game with Benedict Cumberbatch a little bit. Some highlights:
She doesn?t want her future daughter to be a child actress: ?Oh, 100%, I?d absolutely tell her not to. I would 150 million trillion per cent be totally discouraging. Teenage years should be done privately. You should be going out and getting unbelievably drunk, getting into ridiculous situations, making mistakes. That?s what that time of life is about and we should do that privately?Saying that, I don?t regret it ? I wouldn?t do my life any differently, but having lived through it?There was a very long time when [interviewers] were all: “Well you?re a sh*t actress and you?re anorexic and people hate you” which, for a teenager is a very strange thing.’
This is all we get about Cumby: She talked about her long-standing friendship with Benedict Cumberbatch, and why she is very glad she didn’t have to kiss him in their film, The Imitation Game, out this November.
Feminism & the film industry: “There is an under-representation of our stories, just as there is an under-representation of us in politics and in business and everywhere. That’s what feminism is [to me] right now – the recognition that we are still not equal. I absolutely love guys. I love hanging out around them – well, not all of them, some of them are d**kheads – but you know, the ones that I love, I love. But you have to recognize that the playing field isn’t even yet, and it does have to be even. And you can still like clothes.”
[From ELLE UK & The Malay Mail]
I knew Keira and Benedict have been friends for a while ? they did Atonement together (that was the film where he played a child molester). I?m guessing that might be why she didn?t want to kiss him in The Imitation Game? I can?t wait for those quotes. As for Keira?s feminism? I think she?s on point. I wish she didn?t go immediately to the justification that you can be a feminist AND like men. Are we still playing to the demographic that thinks feminism = man-hater? But yes, women are not equal in film, business, politics, everything. She?s right.

| Keira Knightley in Chanel couture at Tribeca premiere: lovely or unflattering? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from the closing premiere event at the Tribeca Film Festival, the premiere of Begin Again. Begin Again used to be called Can A Song Save Your Life?, which I think we can safely say is a terrible film name. I?m just not sure Begin Again is better. The film stars Keira Knightley, Adam Levine, Mark Ruffalo and Hailee Steinfeld. Unfortunately for all involved, Ruffalo did not walk the carpet? and Adam Levine did.
First, let?s get to Keira. She wore this Chanel Couture Spring 2014 look with lots of sequins, beads and Karl Lagerfeld?s new design/optical illusion trick for making women look like they have Barbie doll waists. This dress isn?t my taste at all, but Chanel rarely is ? I find the designs too fussy and saccharine. Keira?s a Chanel girl (she?s the face of Mademoiselle) and she wears a lot of Chanel on the red carpet. I don?t think this look was a victory for her, but it seems consistent with her taste in couture. The sleeves & shoulders are whack, right? Or is that just me?
Hailee Steinfeld wore this Valentino Fall 2014 look ? very mod, very young, very cute. Hailee is such a pretty girl and I don?t have a problem with this. I would take off the leather cuffs, but that?s it.
And here?s Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo. Behati seemed to go really low-key in this navy dress, so much so that I kind of wonder if she knew the background was going to be black. She just blends in. I couldn?t find the designer ID on this, but some people thought it was maybe designed by Adam. Doubtful. Anyway? ugh, I can?t with his face. I don?t understand how he gets supermodels.

| Keira Knightley in DuJour Spring 2014: All My Characters Have Either Died Or Had Horrific Outcomes | Added 10 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

With her film "Begin Again" set to debut at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, Keira Knightley landed herself a feature in the Spring 2014 issue of DuJour magazine.
During her interview with the publication, the "Anna Karenina" beauty opened up about everything from her role in the new film to her work with Chanel.
Check out a few highlights from Miss Knightley's interview below. For more, be sure to pay a visit to DuJour!
On her life as an actress:
"I can?t precisely explain where this desire came from. Unless it was because I didn?t really have to decide who I wanted to be, because I could take on a different personality with each role."
On "Begin Again":
"After 'Anna Karenina,' I suddenly realized that for the past five years, in all of my films, I either died or was subjected to situations that were each more horrific than the last. SoI wanted more positive vibrations! And nothing could correspond better than this New York fairy tale of a young woman who tries to finally have the life she always wanted."
On her favorite Chanel moments:
"The amazing commercial that Jean-Paul Goude made with Vanessa Paradis in a birdcage [for her CoCo Chanel fragrance campaign]. Also, I have a real admiration for CoCo Chanel, for the woman she was?a free woman in the strongest sense of the word?and for the designer [who was] able to create clothing that everyone could wear. CoCo Chanel is timeless and her creations precisely express her free spirit."
On her habits:
"I bite my nails, so that means that I?m obsessed with them, right? I love to go out and buy nail polish in the most absurd colors and paint my nails with them. Last time, I chose yellow?which I do not recommend! I looked like I had nicotine-stained fingers. I won?t repeat the yellow experience, but you can count on me to find an even crazier shade next time!"

I tend to think that Keira Knightley has changed a lot over the past few years. She used to be a grumpy little thing, very serious, very morose, bordering on humorless in interviews. But for the past few years, the grumpy fog has lifted and she?s been so much more charming, open and lovely. Perhaps the reason for that is her husband James Righton? They seem like a good match, and it seemed to get serious very quickly. And now that she?s a married lady, she just seems? lighter. Anyway, Keira has a charming and curse-filled new interview with The Telegraph. You can read the full piece here, and here are some highlights:
She loves watching football on the telly: “Football is basically the reason I got a television. I didn’t have one before, because I didn’t know where I was going to be, so there was no point. And I got hounded by the TV licence people. I’m like, ‘I don’t have a f- TV licence because I don’t have a TV! Please come in and see that I don’t have one!’ But now I have one because it was getting ridiculous watching football on the laptop. Oh, and I love Masterchef. It makes me cry. Oh my God, it’s just so f- emotional. It means so much to them. I get to the end and I weep. I just f- love it.”
Life as a child actor: “I’m dyslexic and obviously I found reading and writing really difficult. When [my parents] found out I wanted to act they used it as a carrot to dangle in front of me. If I kept up my grades at school, I’d be allowed to go up for auditions.”
Director Joe Wright told her to stop pouting: “He allowed me a little bit in Atonement, because the character was kind of an ice queen, and I was allowed in Anna Karenina because she’s a vain beast, but certainly not in Pride & Prejudice.” He does allow her in the CoCo Mademoiselle ad campaigns, in which he directs her (they have just completed their third). “Oh yeah, he definitely lets me pout a lot in those. But that’s the great thing about shooting with Joe – we have shorthand. I know what he likes and vice versa.”
Her Chanel wedding dress: Last summer she married James Righton of the indie band The Klaxons. She wore a Chanel dress (of course) that she already owned. “Karl [Lagerfeld] very kindly designed me a jacket to go with it. I’d worn the dress lots. It was my something old. And I liked not making a big deal about it. I just wanted to be in something I had had a great time in, something I would have a great time in again. It’s now got red wine spilled down the front because the last time I wore it my friend went like this” – she juts out her elbows – “and now it’s everywhere. I didn’t quite realise the extent of it until I got home. It’s quite impressively splattered. But, hey, a good night is a good night and when a dress has had its time, maybe it’s had its time. I’m pretty sure I can get it out but, if I can’t, I’m happy with the memory of a good night and the story of how the dress got destroyed.”
She lives in London but she loves Paris: “I really love Paris. It took me years to get my head around it but now I’ve found all these little pockets. It’s also a city that I’ve been on my own in quite a lot, but here you can be a woman on your own, walking around, eating alone, and not feel threatened. I love that about a city. I love that here I feel incredibly private and protected. There are privacy laws. Which doesn’t stop photographers always, but it does at least give you a legal right to say, ‘Don’t follow me.’”
Her current style must-haves: “I love dungarees. I’m a massive fan of them. I wear the dungarees so much that I’ve now got three pairs, because it was getting to the point where I was like, ‘You have to wash them, Keira.’ And I’m really into Doc Martens at the moment. I think I’ve decided to become my eight-year-old self again, because when I was eight that was all that I wore – dungarees and Doc Martens.”
[From The Telegraph]
I love the wedding dress stuff ? we talked about how she repurposed her favorite Chanel party dress for her wedding, then repurposed it again with a sheer leotard-thing for a charity event in London last year. I kind of love that she didn?t ask Karl Lagerfeld to make some crazy, only-wear-it-once gown for her wedding, that she just went with a dress she loved and she was fine with re-wearing it after the wedding.
Also: in Brit-speak, dungarees are overalls, right? I had to look it up, because this whole time I thought ?dungarees? in Brit-speak meant ?khakis?. But they are jean overalls, or as we say in the South, bibs.

She isn't your typical bride who has her wedding dress stored up in a box after the ceremony, in fact, Keira Knightley's dress wasn't even new.
The "Anna Karenina" actress explained of the Chanel creation, ?I?d worn the dress lots. It was my something old. And I liked not making a big deal about it,? she said. ?I just wanted to be in something I had had a great time in, something I would have a great time in again.?
Showing just how laid back she is, Keira said she didn't flinch when the dress was accidentally spattered with red wine recently. "It?s now got red wine spilled down the front because the last time I wore it my friend [knocked my arm] and now it?s everywhere.I didn?t quite realize the extent of it until I got home. It?s quite impressively splattered. But, hey, a good night is a good night and when a dress has had its time, maybe it?s had its time. I?m pretty sure I can get it out but, if I can?t, I?m happy with the memory of a good night and the story of how the dress got destroyed.?
Of her every day style, the British babe quipped, ?I love dungarees. I wear the dungarees so much that I?ve now got three pairs, because it was getting to the point where I was like, ?You have to wash them, Keira.? And I?m really into Doc Martens at the moment. I think I?ve decided to become my eight-year-old self again, because when I was eight that was all that I wore ? dungarees and Doc Martens.?
