Keira Knightley covers the new issue of Violet, although I?m pretty sure this photoshoot was done MONTHS ago. Probably last year. Because Keira is super-pregnant these days and these photos show her tiny little waist. In fact, I wouldn?t be surprised at all if Keira had a big baby announcement in the next week or so. Her due date is likely any day now. As for the interview, Keira had some interesting things to say about feminism and female characters and woman-oriented storytelling. She talked a lot about all of that throughout the promotional tour for The Imitation Game ? it?s her cause, and it?s a good cause to have. We need younger actresses openly discussing the fact that Hollywood needs to refocus and have more stories for, by and starring women.
Women in film: ?Where are the female stories? Where are they? Where are the directors, where are the writers? It?s imbalanced, so given that we are half the cinema-going public, we are half the people [who] watch drama or watch anything else, where is that? So yes, I think the pay is a huge thing, but I?m actually more concerned over the lack of our voices being heard.?
Feminism: ?I don?t know what happened through the ?80s,?90s, and ?00s that took feminism off the table, that made it something that women weren?t supposed to identify with and were supposed to be ashamed of. Feminism is about the fight for equality between the sexes, with equal respect, equal pay, and equal opportunity. At the moment we are still a long way off that.?
Playing Joan Clarke in The Imitation Game: ?I think it is interesting that for women in film the problems they face are generally put into the sphere of home and family and not into the workplace. Joan?s real struggles were to get her rightful ?place at the table,? and then once she was there, equal pay, which she never came close to.?

I like that Keira manages to discuss feminism and woman-centered storytelling without it coming across like? Patricia Arquette. You know? Bless Arquette for putting her views out there and starting a conversation about equal pay in the middle of the Oscars, but Arquette?s wording and phrasing alienated a lot of potential allies. Keira?s comments seem to be a reflection of the need for more women ? of all colors and sexual orientations ? to be brought into the storytelling fold.

| Keira Knightley in Valentino at the Oscars: too twee or brilliantly unusual? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve combined Felicity Jones and Keira Knightley in posts throughout the awards season, because they?ve disappointed me the whole awards season. Keira used to be such a Fashion Girl. She even got to the point where everything she wore was noteworthy and discussed at length. But that was before the fetus stole her mojo. Keira?s entire red carpet campaign this year has just been? disappointing. A missed opportunity to show off some crazy, awesome maternity styles. Instead, Keira has veered too far into the twee-ness and cutesy crap. Her red carpet Oscar gown was Valentino and? NO. I?m sorry, I can?t with this. I know some of you love it, but I just can?t. The stupid nude tulle, the writing on the dress, the flowers? it?s bad, you guys.
I think Keira knew it was bad too, so she changed into a different Valentino gown for the parties. She should have reversed these gowns ? the nude Valentino for the parties and this dark velvet gown for the Oscars.
And here?s the other disappointing British fashion girl Felicity Jones, the only one (??) at the Oscars wearing Sarah Burton for McQueen. It sounded like Sarah Burton customized this gown for Felicity especially, so why is the design so awkward above the waist? Like, I understand the inclination to do a BIG princess dress. This was Felicity?s first Oscar nomination, her first Oscars, why not go big? But from the waist up, I?m sorry, I don?t think this is flattering.

| Pregnant Keira Knightley 'just wants a margarita' but she's not drinking | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Keira Knightley is also doing her final push for her Oscar nomination, just like her costar Benedict Cumberbatch. Although Keira seems more content with the idea that she?s not going to win, which is true. Keira seems to be having a lot of fun though, perhaps because she?s riding the wave of pregnancy hormones. She just seems happier than she?s ever been, and when she appeared on The Ellen Show, she was uncharacteristically chatty. They talked a lot about her pregnancy, how she?s dying for a cocktail, and whether she knows the sex of the baby. Some highlights:
She just wants a margarita: “I can’t drink. I’m up for an Oscar and I can’t drink at the Oscars. I went to the doctor – you have to get lots of doctor checkups when you’re pregnant – and she asked if I had any questions. And I said, ‘Yes! When can I drink!? Please! I just want a Margarita’.”
James Righton loves champagne: “My husband?s having a great time. I?m eating for two and he?s drinking for two. There?s a lot of free champagne so he thinks because I?m not drinking the free champagne he has to. All of it.”
The idea of having a boy: “Somebody said to me the other day the problem with boys is – sorry this is horrible – but when you?re changing their nappies you can get the wee in your face. Yeah you see? I?ve got a lot of people nodding at me, but I never knew that before so it was terrifying.”
[From TV3]
Keira also said she and James hadn?t found out the sex of the baby and everyone has a theory about what she?s carrying. Ellen thinks she?s carrying a boy, but Keira said people have been telling her it?s probably a girl. As for the drinking thing ? some doctors say different things, and I always think that British and European women get different drinking advice than American women. American women are usually told: don?t drink alcohol while pregnant, the end. But I?m sure many of Keira?s girlfriends probably have an odd glass of wine here and there. I?m actually sort of surprised that she?s not drinking at all! Although margaritas probably aren?t advisable under any circumstance.

| Keira Knightley in a lacy Burberry at the WGAs: sweet or boring? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Keira Knightley was not in the Isle of Wight for Benedict Cumberbatch?s wedding. She was in LA ahead of the Oscars, probably to do some last minute shilling and hand-shaking, even though I think Keira is pretty sure she?s going to lose the Best Supporting Actress race to Patricia Arquette. Keira did Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday, and then on Saturday night, Keira was one of the few big-name celebrities to come out to the Writers Guild of America Awards. These are some photos from her red carpet appearance. I’m not a fan of this Burberry dress – she’s still stuck in the same girlish, baby-doll style she wore before her pregnancy.
Keira?s film, The Imitation Game, actually won something! TIG has been on a major losing streak as of late, but on Saturday, TIG picked up the WGA Award for adapted screenplay. Wes Anderson won original screenplay for The Grand Budapest Hotel, and there?s every belief that Wes is probably going to win his first Oscar for the screenplay too (yay!). I think it?s a big surprising that TIG won adapted screenplay ? my money was on Gillian Flynn?s Gone Girl adaptation (although I didn?t love her adaptation of her book). You can read more about the WGAs here.
We?re in the last days of Oscar voting ? all the ballots must be in by Tuesday, February 17th. Some races are still in the air ? no one has any idea of Birdman or Boyhood will win Best Picture, or whether Richard Linklater or Alejandro G. Inarritu will win Best Director. Inarritu won the DGA, by the way. Which means he?s more likely to win the Best Director Oscar.

| Keira Knightley v. Reese Witherspoon: who looked better at the BAFTAs? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Keira Knightley?s husband James Righton has been by her side throughout the awards season. It?s sort of sweet ? I thought she was marrying some hipster rocker, but it turns out that he can wear a nice tuxedo and fulfill his arm candy destiny. These are some photos of Keira and James at last night?s BAFTAs. Sigh? I dislike her Giambattista Valli dress. I mean, I?ve been giving her a pass for the most part because she?s pregnant and it?s obviously thrown off her style mojo, but I think we just have to make our peace with the fact that Keira has worn a series of really terrible clothes throughout this awards season. It?s not her ? she?s lovely. But the clothes suck. This Giambattista Valli looks like a poorly designed party dress, and it?s not right for the BAFTAs.
Here are some photos of Keira and James at Saturday night?s pre-BAFTA reception at Kensington Palace. Keira wore Chanel Resort 2015. Something nice? I like the colors. Something not so nice? LOOK AT THE DUST RUFFLE HEM.
And here?s Reese Witherspoon, flying solo at the BAFTAs and the Kensington Palace event. At the BAFTAs, Reese wore this rather gorgeous purple Stella McCartney gown. It really suits her and she looks great. I totally don?t have any complaints about this look at all.
At the KP event, Reese wore Chanel. I don’t care for the sleeves/shoulders on this dress, and her hair wasn’t that great.

| Keira Knightley's name is a mistake because her mom's a terrible speller | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

While on the red carpet for the SAG Awards, Keira Knightley might have let it slip that she?s expecting a girl. Maybe. Page Six claims that Keira definitely referenced a ?she? while discussing her bump, but I?m not positive. I think Keira would be totally fine with a boy or a girl, but yeah? she probably wants a girl. She’s been talking about the idea of having a girl for months! Anyway, Keira covers the March issue of ELLE UK, in a photoshoot that was done before Keira was showing. In the interview excerpts, Keira chats about how her name is a spelling mistake and how she hates style rules. Some highlights:
On her name: “I was meant to be named ‘Kiera,’ after a Russian ice skater who was on the TV one day. My dad fancied her and nicked her name for me. But it was my mum who went to register my birth, and she accidentally spelled ‘ei’ instead of ‘ie’ because my mum’s crap at spelling. Apparently, when she came back he said: ‘what the f—? You’ve spelt her name wrong!’ What were they going to do, though? Once it’s on the piece of paper, it’s on the piece of paper. And that’s me. A spelling error.”
Her style rules: ?Break the rules. I’ve always hated the idea that you should be wearing this or that, because it makes me feel like I’m getting everything wrong. I hated it at school, and I don’t want it as an adult. If you want to wear a f–king flowerpot on your head and that makes you happy, then wear a f–king flowerpot on your head.’
[From People Magazine]
I like Keira?s unconventionally-spelled name. I like the ?Kira? spelling too, but maybe that?s just me. My problem ? because I?m a crap speller too ? is that I always have to stop and think about whether she?s got an ?e? in her last name. I?m forever spelling it Knightly when it should be Knightley. As for Keira?s ?break the [style] rules? thing? eh. Keira?s always done so well for herself playing inside the style rules. And honestly, when you?ve got a face like Keira, of course you can wear whatever you like and still look gorgeous. The rest of us need some rules so we don?t wander around with flowerpots on our heads.

| Keira Knightley in maternity Erdem at the SAGs: lovely or poorly designed? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As many of you rightly claimed yesterday, Benedict Cumberbatch didn?t show up at the SAGs yesterday. It?s pretty depressing. What?s the use of all of that hustling and quote-dropping if you?re not even going to show up to the major awards shows? I would have loved to see Bendy?s face when Eddie Redmayne won. But no, Bendy was stuck in England, maybe working on Sherlock. His name was still included on all the presenters? lists up until air time.
So, in Sophie Hunter?s absence, Keira Knightley carried the Erdem mantle. I sort of liked this on the E! red carpet, but in photos? I don?t like it so much. Nice stuff: I like that she went for a bolder, more red carpet look with her hair and makeup. She?s been looking very ?I just washed my face and threw on some lip gloss? on other red carpets. I like the color of this Erdem too ? the color alone looks beautiful on her. But no, I don?t like the dress all that much. I think it?s a mistake to put a peplum/ruffle on a pregnant girl. I?m also really tired of the sheer-bust panel trend. It never looks good. Ever.
And here are some other British girls, some of the Downton Abbey crew. I missed seeing Michelle Dockery (icy bitch Lady Mary) on the red carpet. But Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith) looked good in her Vionnet gown. I think Laura is a pretty woman, but they really make her look homely on Downton. Styling is everything! Joanne Froggatt wore a nice Honor gown. They still shouldn?t have won.

| Keira Knightley in Delpozo at the Critics Choice: tragic or cute? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I can totally understand how a pregnant lady might feel sort of barfy and tired and over it, and want to kind of phone it in for an award show like the Critics Choice. But look at Keira Knightley?s whole look! This actually took effort. She actually sat there, getting her hair and makeup done, trying on dresses and deciding that THIS was going to be the best look. Oh, Keira. How the mighty Fashion Girls have fallen! I said at the Golden Globes that it was like Keira?s pregnancy has made her lose her style mojo, and here?s further evidence. This terrible Delpozo gown. What the hell? It?s a bad color, the detailing is cheap, the train is too long and honestly, it doesn?t even look that comfortable for a pregnant girl. It looks like the kind of dress you have to constantly adjust throughout the night. So, is this better or worse than Keira?s Chanel Fail at the Globes?
PS?Benedict Cumberbatch was not there. Keira was representing The Imitation Game with Allen Leech and some other peeps. I will give Keira credit for something: her husband, James Righton, just gets cuter and cuter. She likes her men very pretty.
Also on the menu for bland fashion choices at the Critics Choice, here?s Carmen Ejogo. She?s the British actress playing Coretta Scott King in Selma. She?s GORGEOUS. But this peachy Emilia Wickstead was a mistake. I would have loved to see this beautiful woman in a jewel tone or literally any other color but peach. It seems like a snazzy bridesmaid?s dress and that’s just wrong. As for those pockets? um? no. There are plenty of cool ways to do pockets on formal gowns. This is not one of them.

| Keira Knightley Shows Off Baby Bump at 2015 Critics' Choice Movie Awards | Added 9 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

Never one to be left out of a star-studded soiree, Keira Knightley showed up at the 20th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards in Hollywood earlier tonight (January 15).
Showing off her baby bump with hubby James Righton, the ?Imitation Game? star got plenty of attention as she worked the arrivals area before shuffling inside the Hollywood Palladium to catch all the action.
This year, Michael Strahan will handle the hosting duties and there?s no shortage of worthy contenders on the nominees list. Strahan told press, ?I am excited to host a night honoring some of the most talented people in the industry. The Critics? Choice Awards show paves the way for the upcoming awards season, and the best part is that the winners are selected by the very people who make a living watching and reviewing films. It doesn?t get much more competitive than that.?
