Keira Knightley was one of my biggest disappointments at the Golden Globes. That baby has stolen her style mojo!!! First Keira dressed like a banana at the BAFTA event on Saturday and then she shows up at the Globes in a Chanel bib and dust ruffle. TERRIBLE. Keira proudly stated that it took 30 people a week to make this gown. Their time could have been much better spent.
Claire Danes in Valentino. I have mixed feelings. Like, this dress isn?t boring and yet Claire was a total non-event on this carpet. Remember when we used to wait expectantly to see what she would wear? I feel like she lost her style mojo a few years ago. And this Valentino isn?t bringing it back. Sigh? I?m so tired of sheer breast panels.
When Amy Adams appeared on the red carpet, I actually liked her Versace gown a lot. I thought, ?Finally, she managed to get everything right at the same time.? Good hair, good makeup, decent dress. But? by the time Amy won Best Actress for a Comedy/Musical, I wasn?t into the look anymore. In these photos, the gown looks almost violet, but on stage it read as a dingy pale blue. I think the fit was off on top too. Should we give her credit for doing a better look than usual, or should we hold her to a different standard because she has so much potential? PS? her jewels are Tiffany?s.

I really expected Benedict Cumberbatch and his bumpy fiancee to walk the red carpet for last night?s BAFTA LA pre-Globes event, but they were no-shows. Some sources say that they were confirmed for the event but Benedict got stuck working on Sherlock. Hm. In any case, the BAFTA event did get a great turnout, so we?re splitting up the photos into multiple posts (obviously!). Let?s start with another expectant celebrity, Keira Knightley. Keira was supported by her husband James Righton. Apparently, Keira has been at home in London, sick with a cold, which is why she missed out on some events last weekend. She still looks slightly pukey to me, or maybe that?s just because she chose this buttercup yellow Hermes gown which really doesn?t do much for her coloring. Also: all of a sudden, Keira looks super-preg. Very cute.
Eddie Redmayne and his new wife Hannah Bagshawe have pretty much spent their honeymoon on Eddie?s Oscar campaign. They don?t seem bummed about it at all though ? probably because they?ve been together a while and they seem to genuinely love each other? Anyway, Eddie loves to wear bright blue. Is that Yves Klein blue, the color he?s written about? Oh, and Eddie wants you to know that he went to Eton with Prince William. So there you go.
Felicity Jones in Erdem. I can?t even tell you how disappointed I?ve been with Felicity?s fashion choices thus far. She started out strong, fashion-wise, but she?s sort of petered out with several really boring, nondescript looks in a row. I hope she blows it out for the Globes.
Laura Carmichael in Mulberry? I like this on her, but I probably would have done different shoes. I also would have made the dress just a tad longer and given her a clutch instead of a shoulder bag. I?m partial to Laura, probably because I feel so sorry for Lady Edith. Poor Lady Edith!

Yay, we?re finally getting this confirmed. Back in November, everyone started Bump Watching Keira Knightley. She kept wearing loose gowns and big coats, and considering that she?s been talking about babies in interviews, many people thought she was knocked up. Then these photos happened ? Keira walking in NYC, wearing overalls. She looked very knocked up. Well, happy news. Keira?s rep has confirmed: Keira and her husband James Righton are expecting their first kid.
The speculation had actually reached a fever pitch in the past few days. Page Six reported yesterday that Keira is more than three months along and that she?s been turning down alcohol at ever event for months. Sources also ?confirmed? the news to Us Weekly yesterday evening as well.
Keira received Best Supporting Actress nominations this week at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. There is every hope/belief that she?s on the path to the Oscar shortlist too. We haven?t been talking about it that much, mostly because Benedict Cumberbatch?s Oscar campaign tends to suck all the air out of the room for everybody else in the film. But I believe Harvey Weinstein will probably put some money into Keira?s campaign, and I believe Bendy probably wants Keira to get nominated as well. But will Keira win? As I mentioned in a previous post, this year?s Best Supporting Actress category is pretty stacked. I think Keira will totally get nominated, but I kind of think the award will probably go to Patricia Arquette. But Keira will put up a good fight! Especially when we get to see her maternity style ? that will go over really, really well with her Oscar campaign. Think about Natalie Portman?s campaign for Black Swan, you know? Oscar loves a pregnant lady.

Last month, the GossipCenter reported that Keira Knightley was with child and now Us Weekly has confirmed the ?Love Actually? actress is indeed preggers.
The 29-year-old British babe completely avoided alcohol at Sunday?s (December 7th) Moet British Independent Spirit Awards and she?s traded in her form-fitting frocks for more loosely-styled selections.
In previous interviews, Keira has discussed her desire to have children with her handsome husband James Righton, however motherhood wouldn?t eclipse her career. "Would I want to be a stay-at-home mother? No. On the other hand, you should be allowed to do that, as should men, without being sneered at,? she told Vogue.

I?m splitting up the photos from the Moet British Independent Film Awards last night into two posts. One post for Benedict Cumberbatch and one post for everybody else. The Moet BIFAs are usually a pretty well-attended London event ? they?re sort of like the Independent Spirit Awards of Britain. As such, no big studio productions need apply. Which might be why The Imitation Game got shut out of every award! Even though TIG is technically an independent film ? purchased by Harvey Weinstein, so it doesn?t get more indie than that ? the campaign around TIG definitely has a big studio feel, doesn?t it? I kind of feel for Keira Knightley! She got all dressed up and she still didn?t win. Her look is? interesting. Sort of. Keira eschewed Chanel for some reason and went with a fur-trimmed (literally) Rocha dress. Her earrings are Chanel and her eyebrows look positively Delevingne-esque. Her date was her husband James Righton. Also: she doesn?t look pregnant anymore?

Helen Mirren is sexier than all of us combined.
Alicia Vikander managed to stop sexing Michael Fassbender long enough to throw on this Louis Vuitton ensemble. Thoughts? It is? a lot of Fashion, you know? I kind of wish the top had been a minidress and then she just paired the dress with those shoes. It really does feel like the pants are overkill.
And last but certainly not least, Emma Thompson took home The Richard Harris Award, which is like a lifetime achievement, sort of. I think that?s her son on the left.

Keira has been lovely throughout the tour ? she?s been funny and interesting and pushing a quiet feminist agenda, talking about women in STEM and how men need to be asked about work-life balance too. But here?s something interesting? check out the photos of Keira in overalls in particular. Yes. She?s totally knocked up. Star Magazine says she is too:

Star has learned that the Anna Karenina star, who married the Klaxons rocker in a low-key ceremony in May 2013, is about 12 weeks along. ?Keira and James are thrilled,? a family source gushes. ?This wasn?t planned, but that is how they wanted it.?
The timing also couldn?t be better. The actress recently wrapped her new film, Everest, and has no new projects on the horizon. ?She will be able to relax and settle into family life in London,? the pal adds.
But while the couple are delighted about their growing family, their inner circle insists they want to keep the news hush-hush for as long as they can. ?Keira and her stylist have been putting together looks that hide her growing bump,? the source continues.

Correction: her stylist has been trying and failing to hide her bump. Keira?s been looking bumpy for several weeks, but those photos of Keira in overalls must be an admission that there?s no hiding it anymore. YAY! Congrats to Keira. She gets to be pregnancy twinsies with Duchess Kate.
Meanwhile, Keira appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night. Do you think that dress is roomy enough at the waist? LOL. Anyway, Keira talked about Cumberbitches and how they terrify her. She said: ?It’s terrifying. I mean, they’re lovely. I feel terrified saying they’re terrifying cause they might come after me. So? yes, it’s amazing! They’re very artistic! They paint pictures of him. You go to premieres and there’s these amazing paintings of Ben looking Ben-like? I?m sure most of the headlines will be about Benedict Cumberbatch and his lover/fiance Sophie Hunter on the red carpet for The Imitation Game, but it?s worth discussing Keira Knightley. Keira is coming to play this awards season! And I?m happy about it because A) Keira is always good for a good old fashioned style discussion and B) a lot of people think she?s pregnant. And it?s always fun to see how a knocked up fashionista works an awards season.
I can?t say I find Keira?s Dolce & Gabbana dress all that impressive though. We?ve seen her wear much more interesting looks at the film festivals and minor awards shows already! I think the goal was to wear something a bit warmer (it?s freezing cold here on the East Coast), and so Keira just wanted something with sleeves, perhaps with a heavy fabric. I would have preferred seeing her bundled up though, in wool trousers and a warm coat, because this dress kind of sucks. The print is too busy, the gold belt doesn?t go and the pleating at the skirt is unflattering. Blah. Something nice: her earrings are pretty.
I?m also including some photos of the men of The Imitation Game, including Matthew Goode (who is based out of New York these days because he?s filming The Good Wife), Matthew?s lady Sophie Dymoke, Allen Leech, Charles Dance and Mark Strong, who looks really, really good.

Here are some fashion photos from last night?s Hollywood Film Awards. You can see the full list of winners/presenters here. Keira Knightley won the Hollywood Supporting Actress Award for The Imitation Game. I think she?ll probably end up getting nominations at every awards show, and we should welcome that. Keira always brings some interesting fashion, plus there are rumors that she?s knocked up (and I hope she is!). Keira wore this surprisingly heavy-looking Giambattista Valli last night, in the on-trend color of white. This whole look isn?t my particular jam, but I always appreciate that Keira likes intricate, delicate, interesting-looking gowns and dresses. It?s nice to see her covered up too. Here?s her winning speech (she just seems so ?light? these days).
Reese Witherspoon in J. Mendel ? she was just there to present and this look was utterly boring.

Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen. She didn?t win anything, she was just there to help push The Theory of Everything and to support Eddie Redmayne. I thought this McQueen was too conservative but then I caught on that the skirt is see-through. So? not bad.
Queen Latifah in Badgley Mischka. She was the hostess of the HFAs and she was pretty awkward throughout. It pains me to say that because I love Latifah. At least her dress was pretty.
Jennifer Lopez was there to present Best Animated Film to How To Train Your Dragon 2, only she flubbed her line and said ?How to Drain Your Dragon.? Considering Gerard Butler was there to accept the award, you can insert your porto-potty joke here. J.Lo wore Zuhair Murad.

She?s always a busy beauty and last night (November 10) Keira Knightley had a pair of promotional visits on her itinerary.
The ?Pirates of the Caribbean? cutie headed over to the DGA Theater in Los Angeles for a special screening of her new flick ?The Imitation Game? hosted by Chanel.
From there, Ms. Knightley paid a visit to ?Jimmy Kimmel Live? where she extolled the virtues of staying at the Four Seasons Hotel while in SoCal.
Keira gushed, "You sit round the pool and these people come around with trays and you get like, a frozen grape. Who knew? They're great."
Jimmy asked, "You guys don't have those in England?" to which the ?Begin Again? starlet replied, "No, it's too cold for frozen grapes in England!?

Keira Knightley covers the latest issue of The Edit (net-a-porter?s in-house online magazine), likely to promote The Imitation Game. Funnily enough, she doesn?t mention the film at all. Great promotion, Keira!! But it?s still a nice piece because Keira seemed to be in a funny, brassy kind of mood and she wanted to talk about feminism and Hollywood and sex. She doesn?t believe in fairytales: ?I left them behind. Why should you be told to wait for some f***ing dude to rescue you??
Why there are so many films about white dudes: ?The people who make movies, whether it?s directors or producers or money people, look for things that they can identify with and if they?re all predominantly middle-aged white men, then what you see are things that middle-aged white men can identify with. And you don?t get anything for anybody else.?
The idea of a baby girl: ?A friend of mine just had a daughter. It?s a political thing, having a baby girl, in a way that it isn?t for a boy. You think, ?Oh, isn?t this fairy-tale lovely?? Then suddenly you worry, ?What [expectation] am I planting with that? I don?t want her to be waiting around for a man to fix her problems.? Maybe it?s a bit silly, but because [gender] equality is going so hugely the other way, I think it probably does take being silly to try and swing it back round.?
Sex & violence in film: ?I?ve turned a lot [of roles] down because of it, mostly because of really overt sex and violence that is just, in my view, not justified. I?m not saying that there can?t be really interesting stories about sex and violence, but a lot of it I just think, ?This is gratuitous for the sake of being gratuitous, and you?d never ask a dude to do this.? It?s actually a difficult question: how much flesh are you meant to bare? What are we saying is appropriate or not appropriate? We?re saying that we should be sexually liberated but then again not that sexually liberated. It?s confusing.?
Turning 30 next year, adulthood: ?I don?t know, what?s that meant to feel like? There?s a concept of how you should be and I?m not sure anybody really fits into it. I hope they don?t, because I don?t feel like I do. I?m absolutely fine about it. I had a funny 22, I didn?t like that number. But 30, I?m alright with. With me, everything before 25 wasn?t so fun, but everything post has been great.

Keira talks here and there about kids, and I appreciate the fact that she?s not doing that tried-and-true ?yes, of course I?m going to get pregnant soon, I love babies, yay!? thing that so many actresses fall into. I get the feeling that Keira does like the idea of motherhood but she wants to wait and she?s working all of it out in real time, in interviews. She?s thinking about babies and when she should or could have them, but she hasn?t really made up her mind yet. That?s my theory.
