Here is Keira Knightley walking the red carpet for the Laurence Olivier Theatre awards on Sunday. The Oliviers are like the Tonys, I think. Correct me if I?m wrong, British theatre geeks. Ah, yes, Getty approves: ?The Olivier Awards are recognized internationally as the highest honour in British theatre and are considered to be the theatre industry equivalent of the BAFTA Awards for television and film.? So, like the Tonys. Anyway, Keira was nominated for an Supporting Actress Olivier Award for her stage role in The Misanthrope. Keira lost! But she still wore this strange dress to the awards show.
Now, my first reaction when I saw this Erdem dress was ?Ew, ugly pattern.? Then I looked at the detailing of the design, and of the fabric, and the dress is growing on me. It?s not one of those dresses where you?re like, ?Oh, fabulous!? It?s a dress that makes you think. However, the darting is totally bizarre. Look at how the dress is cut around her bust and her hips! What a f-cked up way to cut a dress. It?s drawing mixed reactions from the press too. The Sun calls it ?Unsightly Knightley? while Elle UK declares it ?stunning.? I?m somewhere in between.
Meanwhile, as has already been established, Keira is not going to be coming back for the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Guess who they?re getting to replace her? Penelope Cruz! Can you believe this sh-t? Anyway, the NYDN had this interesting little item over the weekend:
The treasure chests on board “Pirates of the Caribbean” may runeth over, but stricter rules apply to bodices. Rob Marshall, director of the fourth installment in the swashbuckling series, has told casting agents in Los Angeles to put out a search for actresses with natural curves only, London’s Daily Mail reports.
The ad specifies, “beautiful female fit models. Must be 5ft 7in-5ft 8in, size 4 or 6, no bigger or smaller. Age 18-25. Must have a lean dancer body. Must have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants.”
Any actresses who expect to smuggle in some extra booty will have no chance of rocking the boat - applicants will be asked to pass a test that detects false breasts.
Former “Pirates” heroine, Keira Knightley, revealed in the past that crew had a hard time giving her that curvy “18th century whoreish” look.
She says they painted in her cleavage and pulled her bodice tight to shrink her waist and maximize her breasts. It later emerged that Knightley’s assets were enhanced for the movie posters promoting the 2004 action film “King Arthur.”
But the next time we see Jack Sparrow, the lascivious pirate will not be wanting for curves. Penelope Cruz and her hourglass figure will take over the role of Elizabeth Swann from Knightley this summer. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” is slated for release in 2011.

Poor Keira. I?ve always thought she was a pretty little thing, but that girl is flat as a pancake, much like Audrey Hepburn, bless her heart. Keira usually has a laugh at her own expense about her boobs, but doesn?t this whole ?we need girls with real breasts? seem kind of rude? Like it?s partly directed at Keira? It seems that way to me.

Spending the day making an awards show appearance, Keira Knightley attended The Laurence Olivier Awards in London, England on Sunday (March 21).
Joined by her mother Sharman Macdonald, the "Pirates of the Caribbean cutie looked adorable as she posed for pictures at the Grosvenor House Hotel venue.
Miss Knightley happened to be among the show's nominees, as she was up for best supporting actress for her role as a manipulative movie starlet in "The Misanthrope."
Unfortunately, Keira ended up losing out during the glitzy affair, as Ruth Wilson picked up the honor for her work in "A Streetcar Named Desire".

Spending another evening onstage, Keira Knightley was spotted leaving the Comedy Theatre following a performance of “The Misanthrope” in London, England on Monday night (March 1).
Clad in a black top, jeans and a black scarf, the “Atonement” actress partook in the usual post-show routine, greeting fans and posing for pictures before calling it a night.
Recently having turned down the opportunity to partake in the fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” Miss Knightley has found her fair share of success on the theatre stage.
Keira finds herself among the nominees for Best Supporting Actress at the Olivier Awards - which will be handed out in London on March 21.

Enjoying an evening stroll, Keira Knightley was spotted out and about in London’s West End last night (February 23).
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” babe looked cute and casual as she walked past the paparazzi, sporting a brown coat, multicolored scarf, and distressed jeans.
Speaking of “Pirates,” it seems Keira won’t be returning to the Black Pearl for the fourth installment of the uber-popular franchise.
Johnny Depp told press that neither Knightley nor Orlando Bloom will join the cast. “We’re coming at it from a different angle at this point, Rob Marshall and [a] totally new take, it’s a new story. I don’t think we’d ever throw too much Jack Sparrow in there. There will be a little bit of everybody.”

Here is Keira Knightley on the cover of Elle Magazine?s March 2010 issue. First, a word about the styling: it?s crap. While I?m not Keira?s biggest fan, I do like her, and I do think she?s a very beautiful young woman, and this faux-gypsy styling makes her look unwashed, gross and heavy. And what the hell is up with those bangs? You are not 5 years old, Keira.
Anyway, Keira is promoting her London stage role in The Misanthrope, as well as her role in the film Last Night, which I?ve actually never heard of. It gets a limited release in March, and the film is described by IMDB as: ?The story follows a married couple, apart for a night while the husband takes a business trip with a colleague to whom he’s attracted. While he’s resisting temptation, his wife encounters her past love.? Keira is the wife, Sam Worthington is the husband, and Eva Mendes is the past love. Sounds supremely boring, doesn?t it? Oh, well. Elle has some interview excerpts:
On her character in The Misanthrope: ?Jennifer?s kind of a crazy mix of being a complete bitch?confident and terrifying?yet she?s incredibly young and is probably being exploited way more than she actually realizes.?
On criticism of her acting skills: ?Oh, they still say that! Every time I do an interview with the English press, one of their questions is, ?How do you feel knowing that everyone thinks you?re a sh-t actress?? ?
On surrounding herself by people who tell her the unvarnished truth: ?You have to be selective about the people whose advice and opinions you take. I know [my parents] would never tell me I was shit because they were trying to hurt me. It would always come from a very sincere place.?
On her upcoming film Last Night: ?When we were making it, the arguments on set were just amazing about whether mental infidelity is better or worse than physical infidelity. There was a huge gender divide on the question. Every single woman said that mental infidelity is 10 times worse than [an emotionless assignation]. And most men I spoke with said that it?s the physical act that would be the ultimate betrayal.?

People think she?s a ?sh-t actress?? I don?t think that at all. Granted, she?s not Meryl Streep (who is, really? Besides Cate Blanchett), but I think Keira?s one of the more talented young actresses out there. And how rude is it that people in the UK say that to her? Obnoxious.
Regarding the whole mental affair/physical affair stuff: I think they both suck. If it?s an emotional or intellectual attraction, I might be more understanding, though. Probably because I think that you don?t always have control over who you?re drawn to emotionally. But you can still keep it in your pants.
