Doing her best to get back into the swing of things following her recent breakdown, Mischa Barton was spotted showing off a new hairstyle in New York City on Friday afternoon (July 31).
The former “OC” actress emerged from the Sally Hershberger Salon with darker locks, then taking her dogs, Charlie and Ziggy, on a walk with a female friend.
As previously reported by Gossip Center, Mischa is currently in the Big Apple filming “The Beautiful Life”, her new TV series for the CW.
Of her return to work, co-star Ben Hollingsworth told the New York Daily News, “She looks great! She’s ready to work, and seems healthy and ready to go.”

Having just arrived to the Big Apple fresh from the hospital, Mischa Barton was spotted on the set of her upcoming TV show “The Beautiful Life” in Manhattan on Thursday (July 30).
Looking to be in high spirits, the former “OC” star walked along with her two canine companions as she geared up to start work on the new CW show which premieres in September.
As previously reported by Gossip Center, Mischa was recently discharged from Cedars Sinai Medical Center after being in an “involuntary psychiatric hold”.
While the decision to jump straight into filming following her mental health meltdown has some friends worried, another source feels different and thinks it’s best for her to continue a normal life. “She’s obviously feeling better if she’s back to work. She’s excited to be a part of the show, and she’s very focused on it.”

Mischa Barton went into psychiatric hold on July 15 and has recently left to return to work - but many friends are worried about her.
CW’s, The Beautiful Life, has producers confident that Barton can handle her workload even though friends are doubtful.
One source said, “Mischa needs more aggressive treatment over a long period of time. It’s only been a matter of days since she was released from the hospital, and I think she definitely wasn’t there long enough.”
Many friends are afraid that she will quickly fall into old habits. “She needs to be very cautious-she’s at a very big risk. I personally think it’s a bad idea to go back this quickly, given her past history with substance abuse.”
However, another source feels different and thinks it’s best for her to continue a normal life. “She’s obviously feeling better if she’s back to work. She’s excited to be a part of the show, and she’s very focused on it.”
Reports claim that before Mischa went to the hospital, she was on a three day drug binge leaving friends fearing for her life.
“She’s in very bad shape,” a different source told. “She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral. She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess.”

Making her first public appearance since her mental meltdown, Mischa Barton was spotted arriving at JFK International Airport yesterday (July 28).
Joined by her pooch pal Ziggy, the “O.C.” actress looked a bit out of it as she stopped to chat with the paparazzi, sporting a funky multi-patterned dress with sandals.
Miss Barton was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center over the weekend after being placed under psychiatric hold on July 9th due to a nervous breakdown.
Now that she’s feeling more stable, Mischa will begin filming her new CW gig “The Beautiful Life” under the watchful eye of Ashton Kutcher.

I’m rooting for Mischa Barton. Some of you say that she’s stuck up or can’t act or whatever, but she’s always struck me as smart, self aware, and much more together than other celebrities her age. 23 year-old Mischa wasn’t as in control as I thought, and she had a massive very public fall from grace with an admission to the hospital for a psychiatric hold almost two weeks ago. Maybe people will say they saw it coming, but it was a shock to me and I assumed that Mischa just liked to party but wasn’t into anything dangerous or excessive. In Touch reported this week that Mischa was so out of it that she’s the one who called the cops, saying “I see tree people.” They reported that “she was hallucinating and thought she saw people hidden in the foliage outside her house in a gated community.”
Anyway Mischa is out of the hospital now and has hopefully put all that behind her. Judging from her appearance at the airport in LA yesterday, she’s doing fine. Gone is the caked-on eyeliner (liquid eyeliner is only for the lids, don’t rim the bottom of your eye with it!) and spaced-out look. Maybe this will last for Mischa and she’s learned that she can’t touch the hard stuff.
Mischa Barton is out of the hospital and plans a return to work almost two weeks after Los Angeles police say they escorted her for an undisclosed medical problem.
Spokesman Craig Schneider said Monday that the 23-year-old actress is “out of the hospital and continuing to improve in anticipation of resuming production as planned.”
He would not elaborate on Barton’s condition, but said Barton planned to report to work on the new CW series “The Beautiful Life.”
A CW spokesman for the show, which stars Barton as a pill-popping supermodel, said last week that production was scheduled to begin Friday.
[From NY Daily News]
Star reported this week that the very bad reviews of Mischa’s latest movie, Homecoming, contributed to her breakdown and that “she is upset over her sagging career, and she doesn’t think anybody really cares about her.” Hopefully Mischa realized that people do care and is now ready to move on with her career and her life. She has a lot of opportunities and advantages that the rest of us can only dream about, and maybe she’s starting to realize that. At least she has a job to go to now that she’s out.

She’s gearing up for a return to the set of her new show “The Beautiful Life” and Mischa Barton is said to be ready for action.
According to her rep, the “O.C.” actress “will be resuming production as planned with the rest of the cast in NYC. She’s back to business as usual.”
“The Beautiful Life” creator/producer Ashton Kutcher also commented on Barton’s status at a technology conference in Pasadena, saying, “I can tell you right now that Mischa Barton is doing great.”
Back on July 15th, Mischa checked herself into a hospital to deal with some personal issues, and has since overcome her problems enough to fulfill her work commitments.

Apparently on the mend, Mischa Barton has left the hospital following a two week stay for mental health reasons.
“I can confirm that she’s left the hospital with the intention to resume production,” her rep told press of plans to continue “The Beautiful Life”.
As previously reported, Miss Barton was checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center back in mid-July following a bit of a breakdown.
Ready to get back to work later this week, Mischa’s new show’s producer Ashton Kutcher told press, “I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great.”

Even though Mischa Barton is crazy, that still doesn’t make her interesting enough to get on the cover of any celebrity weeklies. Her publicist was pushing for Barton to get on at least one cover, but no one bit.
“As sad as Mischa’s recent problems are, what seems to be upsetting her representatives even more is that no one really cares,” said the editor. But Barton’s publicist, Craig Schneider, told Page Six: “I can assure you that I’ve been inundated with requests and inquiries from the celebrity weeklies . . . If none of them care, then by all means, please stop calling and e-mailing.”
Yea, and hot models in French maid costumes are swarming all over me. Please, I can’t take it anymore. Twenty times a day is too much. Help, I’m in hell!

Following a self-imposed hospitalization last week, Mischa Barton is said to be doing better and should be released from her psychiatric hold at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center soon.
Her publicist Craig Schneider told press, “Mischa is improving and still under care, with the intentions of being able to resume production on “The Beautiful Life” next week.”
However, some damage may have already been done to her career, as Miss Barton may now appear to be a liability in the eyes of film insurance companies.
Andy McDonough, an insurance broker with Arts & Entertainment Insurance revealed, “Could she be insurable on future films? Well, it will depend on what happens in this case and if she is able to complete the project.”
