Radar Online points us to this interview with Mischa Barton, taken on June 27 when she opened the Harrod’s Summer Sale in London. Her voice is very hoarse and her eyes are droopy. She looks like she’s on something and out of it, which is sad because the answers she gives to the fashion questions are kind of impressive. Mischa always struck me as a smart, aware person and I really hate to see her like this. She slips into a British accent occasionally, but she lived in England until she was five and has parents who are English and Irish so that’s understandable. It’s her kind of sleepy, slurry appearance that makes me feel for Mischa and hope she gets help. There’s also another interview with Barton taken that day in which she’s filmed from father away and seems more coherent.
People Magazine has been running stories about Barton nonstop since she was hospitalized on a psychiatric hold. They’re saying she’s a party girl who didn’t know her limits, that she had a falling out with close friends over her drug use, and that she has body image issues made worse by the media’s focus on her weight.
She has big self-esteem issues. … She hates her legs,” says a source close to Barton. “She isn’t comfortable with her body. It’s been a big source of stress and self-hate.”
Speculation about 23-year-old actress’s weight and nasty comments from tabloids and blogs also fueled insecurity.
“She had a big problem with those photos of her cellulite. ? She didn’t like it,” says another source. “That just was something that contributed to her spiraling but she didn’t do much to fix it because of her partying.”
While another friend tells PEOPLE the photos upset the former O.C. star ? “[She was] more pissed off than hurt and she complained a lot about that” ? she didn’t let them get “to her too much. … I never saw her diet.”
But when photos showed a thinner Barton, she took to her blog and spoke out about the “crazy press,” telling fans that she’s “happier and healthier than ever so there’s no need to worry about me.”

Some people say they saw this coming, but I wouldn’t have guessed that Barton had any issues other than smoking up and drinking too much like a lot of young people. She comes across as articulate and self aware without being self absorbed, and that’s rare for young women in that industry. I’ve thought that friends of mine were fine, too, and didn’t find out that they were really hurting until things were out of control. Barton is just 23 and she can get her life back on track if she’s serious about her sobriety. As far as we know, she’s still in the hospital being treated. Maybe this is the wake up call she needed. Mischa has her whole life ahead of her and I hate to see the media trash her for this. She’s only human, and she has a real chance to turn things around.

While she was close to making her return to the television spotlight, it seems as if Mischa Barton’s recent breakdown may have far-reaching implications when it comes to her career.
According to the latest reports, Mischa’s medical instability may make for a tough time in getting her insured for projects – which could lead to trouble finding any work.
“Could she be insurable on future films? Well, it will depend on what happens in this case and if she is able to complete the project,” an insurance broker told Life & Style magazine.
Meanwhile, rumor has it that the producers of her current project are eyeing possible replacements in case Miss Barton cannot continue her work obligations.
But they should be fine as long as she was included in the insurance plan, with an industry insider telling, “If the studio bought a policy and listed her on it, they’re probably covered. If not, it would be very hard to go back and get insurance on her now. It would be like trying to get health insurance for someone who just had a massive heart attack.”

If Mischa Barton was only contemplating suicide before, she might be seriously considering it now. Due recent events (Mischa going crazy), Barton’s role in the upcoming CW show The Beautiful Life may be in jeopardy. EW (via Radar) says the network is already trying to recast her character, “that of Sonja Stonean, an experienced-but-fading model.” Production for the show was supposed to begin Wednesday, but has been pushed back because Mischa is still in the loony bin.
Mischa must be on top of the world right now. Not only did cops force her into psychiatric evaluation, but she also missed the premiere of her movie and now she may be axed from her upcoming series. The only way things could get worse is if Mischa tried to save her dog from an oncoming car, but in the process, the car ran over her leg and then the dog.

Mischa Barton, who was placed under a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold last Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical, is probably going to lose her role in the upcoming CW show ?Beautiful Life.? Most 5150 holds last 2-3 days, but according to the Chicago Tribune, Barton is still being held at Cedars. Worried that she won?t make it out in time for production ? or that she won?t be able to handle the role ? the show is quietly recasting her role.

The CW’s new drama, about the lives of supermodels, is already preparing for life without Mischa Barton, EW reported, in light of her recent involuntary psychiatric hold implemented by Los Angeles police. Alternate plans have the show replacing Barton’s role — that of Sonja Stonean, an experienced-but-fading model, to be replaced by a different character of the same ilk (which casting has already begun for). Barton’s image was still being advertised on the show’s Web site as of press time.

Radar also has an account of Mischa?s partying behavior from a temporary friend she met in London during last year?s fashion week. Apparently Mischa was trying to meet new people, which is generally a good goal. But when you?re a celebrity, I would think you?d learn to be a bit more cautious about who you let see you do drugs. But that?s not the case with Mischa ? she openly smoked a joint in front of Radar?s source, was in the bathroom for ?a very long time,? and opened her purse in a way that let the source see white powder inside. Here are some of the highlights from the interview.
“Mischa was obviously out of control, she was behaving like an addict and I?m not surprised by the latest turn of events,” an insider — who spent the night partying with the fallen starlet — exclusively revealed to RadarOnline.com? The insider told RadarOnline.com: “I first met up with Mischa at an after party at Portland Place and she seemed like a really fun girl who was keen to make new friends. “She was a little anxious because the venue was so crowded, so, she invited me and a couple of friends to the Bungalow 8 club below St Martins Lane Hotel where she was staying. “When we arrived at the club she started drink tequila and she was getting a little edgy because some paparazzi had followed her.?
According to our source, Barton then disappeared into the bathroom for a ?very long time? and when she emerged she had lost her Blackberry phone ? ?She discussed getting some marijuana with somebody in our party, and she gave him some cash so that he could buy it from a dealer he knew.?? The party-goers then returned to Bungalow 8 where supermodel Kate Moss was sitting with a group of friends and after having a few more drinks they agreed to go to Barton?s room on the 4th floor of the hotel.
Our source told us: ?When we got inside the room Mischa instantly offered us some drinks from her mini-bar before getting out her laptop and laughing at a video of Kimberley Stewart falling off a motor bike on YouTube. She told us that she hated Kimberley and Paris Hilton because they had made fun of her after her DUI arrest but that Naomi Campbell had phoned her to offer some support. After some time she went into her purse and took out a bag of marijuana - when she put her purse down I could see traces of white powder inside it.
“She then started grinding-up the marijuana on the hotel table before rolling two joints and lighting one and smoking it. We sat with her for at least an hour watching some television before we left her to fall asleep around 3 a.m. because she had a FHM magazine photo-shoot the next day. Mischa was a sweet person but she is really foolish as both her drug and alcohol consumption was very open. She didn?t seem to be able to control herself and I?m not surprised that it has snow-balled and that she is now in hospital. In my opinion she is going to need a lot of help to fully recover from what I saw that night in London.”

It?s hard to say just what Radar requires from their sources, but the story sounds at least believable. Mischa?s been a known party girl for almost as long as she?s been famous. Winding up in a psychiatric hospital is pretty severe though, and I?m truly curious about why she?s still there. Even Britney Spears was only held three days. Perhaps Mischa?s agreed to stay there voluntarily at this point, since there haven?t been any reports of court hearings to extend the hold. She is the one who called the police in the first place, which makes me think that whatever is going on with her, she is at least at times thinking rationally.
It sucks that Mischa may lose her role, but frankly it probably shouldn?t be her biggest priority right now. There have been a lot of rumors about exactly what went down with her, but it seems clear that drugs and alcohol have been an issue for a long time. There?s no point in speculating what?s going on in terms of her mental health. Whatever it is, it?s doubtful it?s the sort of thing that takes a week to get over. She?s going to need some time away to regroup and refocus, which hopefully she?ll take.

Mischa Barton was 5150?d last week meaning police threw her ass in the crazy bin. No one knew why, but sources told the NY Post that Mischa was high on coke from a three-day bender. Friends called cops thinking Mischa was going to off herself.
A source close to Barton said, “She’s in very bad shape.
“She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral.
“She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess.”

Mischa Barton, who is reportedly being held on a 5150 in LA, was due to start filming her new show The CW’s The Beautiful Life in NY on Wednesday, but according to The Hollywood Reporter she has another week to get better because production was delayed 9 days until July 31st. They added that the reason for the delay has nothing to do with her, it is just that the sets are not ready yet.
I saw the pilot for the show and I really like it! But also after seeing the show, I can see her character easily being written out if need be and that was before all this stuff went down.

It has been confirmed that former "O.C." actress Mischa Barton is currently in the hospital after being removed from her home Wednesday afternoon due to what the Los Angeles Police Department is calling "medical issues."
"Ms. Barton was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor," her rep told MTV News in a statement. The representative did not address the "Access Hollywood" report that the actress was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.
According to People.com, a pal of the actress said that Barton "has been dealing with a lot of personal issues" as of late. The source added that they aren't sure whether Barton, who was sentenced to three years' probation for a DUI in 2008, is completely healthy: "I don't know if she really ever gave up some of the bad habits that had gotten out of control a couple years back."
Barton didn't make it to the New York premiere of her new movie, "Homecoming," on Thursday because she was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to reports. She was previously hospitalized in 2007 after reportedly suffering an adverse reaction to medication.
The actress is scheduled to make her return to TV this fall on the new CW show "The Beautiful Life." When contacted by MTV News, a spokesperson for the network had no comment on the hospitalization but said neither the show's production nor its September premiere have been affected by it.

Mischa Barton didn’t attend the premier of her new movie, “Homecoming,” and one of the producer’s isn’t too happy about her involuntarily move into a psych ward.
Producer Bingo Gubelmann said, “It’s frustrating. And it’s not ideal. It’s frustrating, but I’m not going to sit here and trash her because we’re young as a company and we’ve got to live and learn…I don’t want to be known as the producer that will turn on any actress at the drop of the hat.”
Gubelmann then rolled his eyes, adding, “it’s hard to remember” why he chose the actress for his indie flick, “because, you know, she’s not here right now.”
“Now, I haven’t spoken to her yet because she’s totally unreachable, so I don’t know exactly what happened. I mean, I’m not as good at taking the high road as some people and yes, it would obviously be nice if she was here. Even just to hang out,” he went on.
As far as abnormal behavior, Gubelmann said the former OC star didn’t act “at all unstable while shooting the flick in less than a month, 16 hours a day. She did it and she did an amazing job. It’s like, maybe she went method and maybe that’s what happened!”
Producer Austin Stark was very concerned about Barton after she had police escort her from her home to the hospital.
“I think we would have loved to have had her come out and support the movie, [but] you know, we wish her the best and obviously we hope she gets better. Obviously, it’s a trying time for her. I mean, obviously we’d like her to be here but I don’t think it hurts the movie.”
Continuing, producer Benji Cohen shared, “She’s going through a rough patch and she can’t be here. And it’s really too bad.”
Director Morgan J. Freeman also wished the best to Mischa. “I hope Mischa is doing OK. My thoughts and prayers are with her. Health first, movie second.”
