Scarlett Johansson covers the September issue of Harper?s Bazaar Australia, and I think she covers the American edition too, although Bazaar hasn?t released that cover yet. ScarJo did a photo shoot with Karl Lagerfeld, styled by Carine Roitfeld, and these are the two pics we have ? the Australian cover and the editorial photo.
Carine Roitfeld did something extremely boring ? she made a short list of all of the women she thinks are ?living icons? and she made a slideshow of them. You can see it here. ScarJo is the top lady ? she?s described as a ?modern Marilyn? because of course she is ? but Carine also included Lily Collins (the hell?), Dakota Fanning, Gabourney Sidibe and Zoe Kravitz. Blah. I get so tired of people comparing ScarJo to Marilyn. She helps it along too ? she always says ?yes? to being styled like Marilyn Monroe. It?s boring.
Also ? ScarJo is still active in New York City politics, as always. Scarlett has thrown her support behind Scott Stringer for NYC Comptroller. Lena Duham is supporting Stringer too. You know who else is running for Comptroller? Eliot Spitzer.

Scarlett Johansson covers the premiere issue of Vanity Fair France. Can you believe that France never had their own edition of Vanity Fair all this time? Weird. Anyway, I don?t think much of the photoshoot ? ScarJo looks pretty boring and I usually think she?s overrated as a model. I?m assuming they were aiming for a ?Young Catherine Deneuve? vibe, but I think we Americans need to acknowledge that we?re never going to produce an American woman who can pull off the Deneuve vibe.
Michel Denisot, the new editorial director of Vanity Fair France, said ScarJo ?has every quality imaginable ? the elegance, beauty, wit and impertinence that would make her a perfectly decent Parisian if she decides to move permanently into the apartment she has bought in Paris not far from here.? Wait, what? ScarJo bought an apartment in Paris?! That must be because she?s dating that Frenchman, Romain Dauriac. I bet she keeps the apartment longer than she keeps the boyfriend, amirite?
By the way, I think many French people might find Scarlett a bit impertinent and self-absorbed these days, considering she recently filed a lawsuit against a French author and publisher for using her name in association with a character in a fictional book. The author doesn?t call the character Scarlett Johansson, the character is merely described as looking a lot like ScarJo:
Scarlett Johansson is seeking to avenge the unauthorized use of her name in a French novel in a suit filed against publisher JC Lattes. She?s seeking compensation and damages from the ?breach and fraudulent use of personal rights,? as well as a ban on ?future transfer of rights and adaptations of the book.?
In the novel The First Thing We Look At, a woman shows up at the door of a mechanic in the northern village of Somme seeking help. At first the mechanic believes she is ?Scarlett Johansson,? though sixty pages later it is revealed she is not the actress but simply a doppelganger named Jeanine Foucaprez.
Author Gregoire Delacourt told newspaper Le Figaro that he was ?stunned? when he was informed of the suit Friday morning, and also noted that he compared the main male character to Ryan Gosling and his boss to Gene Hackman in the book as an almost immediate way to invoke recognition of characteristics for readers.
?This corresponds with the fantasies of our times. All these famous people live with us,? he said, noting that many personal details of Johansson?s love life have been revealed on the Internet and the public feels as if it knows her. ?But I wrote a book of fiction. My character is not Scarlett Johansson, it is Jeanine Foucaprez!?
He describes the novel as an exploration of the ?dictatorship of appearances and the true beauty of women,? and says he chose Johansson, currently the face of Dolce & Gabbana and previously Louis Vuitton, because she is considered the ?epitome of beauty today.?
The First Thing We Look At has been a best-seller in France since its release on March 20.

If the fictional character was more broadly associated with ScarJo the celebrity, and if the character was actually a derogatory depiction (like, if the character was a child molester or something), I would have some sympathy for Scarlett in this situation. But as it is? not so much. She?s a public figure and this is fair use. I think if the lawsuit was filed in America, it would be thrown out completely, but I don?t know how the French courts deal with this kind of nuisance lawsuit.

Here is Scarlett Johansson appearing to be a world away from her formerly curvaceous self at the 67th Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall last night. She smoldered in a black Saint Laurent dress with sheer leopard print neckline and deep red lipstick.
Johansson did not receive any nominations for her turn as Southern belle Maggie in ?Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.? She won a Tony in 2010 for her Broadway debut in ?A View from the Bridge.?

Here are some more photos from last night?s Tony Awards! You can read some coverage of who won what and how here at People Mag, and here?s a full list of the winners. We?re just doing the fashion for the most part because I don?t think anyone around here watched it. So, here is Scarlett Johansson last night. You may remember, ScarJo has already WON a Tony. She won a few years ago when she was doing that Arthur Miller revival. She also did a revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof this year, although I heard it was not great and the ticket sales were meh. ScarJo wore this Saint Laurent mini-dress/tuxedo thing. I don?t hate the idea of it, but the execution is? cheap-looking. I think it?s the lace thing on the top, with the ruffle. It looks like ScarJo paired a really great cropped tuxedo jacket with a cheap mall dress. Plus, that lipstick shade sucks on her.
I think I?m becoming a major Zachary Quinto fan. He was one of the best parts of Star Trek Into Darkness, and that man can wear the hell out of suit and tuxedo. Quinto?s tux last night was Dior Homme. Perfection.
I have to say, Jake Gyllenhaal looks really good in his midnight-blue tux. He needs to ease up on the ?I?m smoldering? squint though.
And finally, here?s Sigourney Weaver in a dress that I?m absolutely positive I?ve seen on her before. Whatever, she?s awesome. She can wear repeats if she wants.

She?s earned quite a name for herself in front of the camera and now Scarlett Johansson is gearing up for her directorial debut.
The ?We Bought A Zoo? actress will direct an adaptation of Truman Capote?s first novel ?Summer Crossing,? and the distribution rights are currently being peddled at the 66th Cannes Film Festival.
Scarlett explained, ?Several years ago I began working alongside the Capote estate and writer Tristine Skylar to adapt Summer Crossing, an inspired early work of Truman?s which has long captured my heart. Being able to bring this story to the screen as my full-length directorial debut is a life dream and deep privilege.?
Per the synopsis, ?A 17-year-old debutant opts out of her parents? Parisian travels to foster a romance with a Jewish valet parking attendant in the middle of a 1945 summer NYC heat wave.?

Reprising her role as Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson filmed "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" in Los Angeles on Tuesday (April 23).
The 28-year-old actress sported red hair in a black tank top, an olive green jacket and black boots as she worked with co-star Samuel L. Jackson before changing into more comfortable yellow pants and sandals.
In the sequel to 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger," Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film also features Chris Evans, Cobie Smulders, Robert Redford, Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, and Emily VanCamp. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is scheduled to hit theaters on April 4, 2014.

Scarlett Johansson covers the May issue of Marie Claire. I?m okay with the photo shoot ? she looks pretty, they didn?t Photoshop her to a crazy degree, and her hair is a decent shade these days. ScarJo is currently on Broadway, playing Maggie the Cat on Cat On a Hot Tin Roof. She has plans (which she discusses with Marie Claire) to adapt and direct Truman Capote?s debut novel Summer Crossing. And of course, Scarlett is a major celebrity so I guess that?s why she?s on the cover of Marie Claire? Because she doesn?t have any films coming out any time soon. Weird. In her interview, ScarJo talks a little bit about everything, including her Frenchman boyfriend, and if you?d like to hear what Woody Allen and Chris Evans have to say about her, you can read the first part of her interview here. Some highlights:
How she spends her downtime: ?I?ve been obsessed with RuPaul?s Drag Race. I love the makeup, I love the hair, I love the looks. That?s been my escape.?
On social media: ?All of it drives me crazy. I don?t understand this need to ?share.? We almost exploit ourselves in order to feel seen.?
If she ran the world: ?I would demand investment in finding and using renewable resources. Then I was thinking about other things, like cab stealing. I always say, ?You want it that bad, go ahead.? And they?re usually like, ?F–k you!??
On her divorce from Ryan Reynolds in 2010: ?Well, it wasn?t that long ago. But I think I?ve had a fair amount of time to process the experience and be able to move forward. I continue to get to know myself better as I get older, and that helps me in my relationships.?
On something a man can?t do around her: ?I don?t like jealous behavior. I don?t mind an occasional check-in, but when somebody is passive-aggressively jealous, it?s really unattractive because it shows a sort of insecurity that is?Oh, controlling behavior is awful. Nobody?s going to say they love that.?
Her boyfriend, 30-year-old French creative agency manager Romain Dauriac, who she brought to a party: “But we like to include everyone in a good party. That night was super-fun. I’ve never been the person who sits in the corner, orders bottle service, and judges everybody. The next day my boyfriend and I were saying, ‘We were the best dancers in the whole world last night!’” She clarifies both were “completely delusional” to think that way: “I’m sure we were absolutely, like, ridiculous together.”

Huh. Were those comments about ?jealous behavior? particularly pointed? My first thought was? Ryan Reynolds. Some people think he?s a genuinely nice guy ? there are stories to support that. But some people think he was (or is) a piece of work, darker than you?d expect, jealous and moody ? there are stories to support that version too. Of course, God knows, Scarlett could just be talking about Sean Penn. Ha.

Go ahead and skip over to The Daily Mail to see the relevant photos ? they?re pics of Scarlett Johansson and her boyfriend of some-odd 3 or 4 months, Romain Dauriac, walking around NYC. If you?re particularly eagle-eyed, you?ll notice that ScarJo is wearing a ring in the presence of a man, which totally means ENGAGED!! Or so the rumor-mongers would have us believe!
Her ex husband Ryan Reynolds has already moved on with new wife Blake Lively, and now Scarlett Johansson appears to be following suit with her French beau. The 28-year-old looked nothing like the blonde bombshell we know her to be as she wandered through New York’s East Village with her French journalist boyfriend, Romain Dauriac, but she was sporting something glamorous… a giant pear-cut diamond ring.
Johansson scraped her blonde hair back into a tight ponytail and slipped into black jeans, a black puffa jacket and some heavy-duty black and brown boots which almost detracted from the flashy rock (worn on her engagement finger).
Her 30-year-old boyfriend looked a little more chic – cliche alert – in a bright green jacket, beanie hat, brogues and fashionable oxblood socks. The duo headed to a cash machine before picking up some coffee and making their way to a tattoo parlour.
She’s already amassed a fairly extensive collection of body art, and Scarlett would certainly be the type to mark an engagement with a new permanent mark. Last year she had a horseshoe Inscribed with the phrase Lucky You inked onto her ribcage.

God, I really hope ScarJo isn?t that stupid. I mean, I get it. She was so young when she met Ryan Reynolds, and she was still very young when they got married. Maybe she messed up a good thing, or maybe she was a free spirit still finding herself, unwilling to be put in the ?Ryan?s Wife? Box. Whatever happened, the marriage ended and then he moved on really, really quickly with someone who seems better suited for him. We all want to be the better woman, and we can all say ?she?s fine, she should just sow her wild oats, have some fun.? But there is still the urge to compete, and I worry that Scarlett will fall into the trap of thinking she needs to be settled down too, just because Ryan is.
But mostly, I want her to stop dating douches. I don?t know if this Romain guy is a douche, but I know for sure that Sean Penn is a douche, and I got some major douche vibes from ScarJo?s ?most beautiful ad man in New York? boyfriend too. So? she has a type: douches. And that means she shouldn?t be getting remarried any time soon.
….Oh, here we go. ScarJo’s rep told E! News that she’s not engaged. Good.
