With a style evoking the golden age of Hollywood, Scarlett Johansson stopped by the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Wednesday (January 8).
The "Her" star sported rosy cheeks and red lipstick as she faced the chilly Big Apple air in a long, tan wool coat.
In the buzzed-about film, the 29-year-old actress voices a computer operating system named Samantha in which Joaquin Phoenix's character falls in love.
However, one of the real-life computer personalities seems to have a bone to pick with her portrayal.
If you ask Siri about Samantha, she replies, "No. Her portrayal of an intelligent agent is beyond artificial." Asked if Siri is Her, she responds, "No. In my opinion, she gives artificial intelligence a bad name."

| Joaquin Phoenix: 'I?m not an artist! I don't even know what the f' that is' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Joaquin Phoenix sat down with the Daily Mail’s Event magazine to promote his role in Her. You’ve probably heard that Joaquin plays a sad sack who falls in love with an operating system voiced by Scarlett Johansson. The movie looks irresistable but really sad, so I’ll probably wait until it hits DVD to watch it. I hate crying in movie theaters!
Joaquin fares pretty well in this talk with the Mail because he usually gives a good interview. He’s a big thinker but doesn’t wave that trait in people’s faces. The total lack of pretention is very refreshing from an actor. He also isn’t afraid to talk smack about the Academy, but he does worry all the time about his ability as an actor. I mean, he really worries about it. Here’s more of the same and some new stuff too. Joaquin is no James Franco:
Don’t call him an artist: “No, I?m not an artist! I don?t even know what the f— that is. I?m just doing the job that I like and at the end I hope to get another job that I like. I can be addicted to the process of building a character, but if in the end it doesn?t work they are not going to ask me to do any more films. If a movie is successful then it means I can work again, and that?s a pretty powerful incentive. I?m very conscious that I really couldn?t do anything else, and I don?t think anything would satisfy me as much. I?ve never really yearned for anything else. I?ve always felt satisfied doing this.”
On fame: “Celebrity is so not a part of my life. If I?m walking around and somebody comes up with a camera, it terrifies me. I can imagine that if you are Johnny Depp, for years you?ve had such a level of fame that you are somewhat accustomed to it and you expect it when you go out. I?ve managed to avoid it to the extent where I sometimes get trapped in situations that I don?t know how to deal with. I feel overwhelmed. But I?d rather be overwhelmed in those moments and enjoy my life privately. I?ve been able to have the life that I want.”
Is he more normal than other actors? “Normal is subjective. Compared to other people in the business I do live a normal life. I can?t get off set and away from it fast enough. I leave and I don?t talk to anybody in the business at all for a couple of weeks. I hate the beach. I don?t like travelling. I?m not being evasive. I just don?t like the things that most people would like. I live in LA and nobody walks the streets in LA. People aren?t famous any more for their work. They are famous for other reasons — and I don?t think that I have the other reasons. There?s no reason for a photographer to follow me around, and, if they do, they?re not going to get a lot.”
What are his days off like? “Nothing exciting, believe me. It?s why I don?t tweet because I have nothing to say. My life is really simple. I have a group of six friends who always hang out together. I take my two dogs on walks, I listen to music, I hang out with my girlfriend [Los Angeles-based DJ Allie Teil, 20, who is 19 years his junior], and I go to dinner. Honestly, it?s really boring. I even bore myself. I think I?m going to start making up sh-t that sounds really cool… like I race hot rods in the desert or something. Seriously, my life is simple and I like it.”
About that cult: “My parents left the Children of God in the 70s, before the group really started derailing. And I was only two years old, so I have no memory of it. In the grand scheme of things, it?s a very small blip in my life.”
Does he wonder how River’s career would have done? “No, other people, outside our family, had that relationship with him, as an actor on screen, and so of course they would have wanted to see those things. But for me that?s not what I think about. I think about the brother I loved.”
He freaked while making Gladiator: “On my first scenes Ridley ran the camera and I found out later that he didn?t even have any film in it. Literally my entire body was shaking because I was so nervous. And then Russell and Richard sat me down and said ‘Calm the f-ck down. It?s not a big deal; it?s just a movie. Have a beer and relax!’ It worked.”
When he met Johnny Cash: “John was a fan of Gladiator and so he invited me to dinner in LA. It was a very straight, family-style affair. We were sitting in the living room and John pulled out his guitar and his hands were a little shaky and I remember feeling bad because I was concerned that he felt that he had to perform and I didn?t have that expectation at all. But what I learned was that he genuinely enjoyed it and the moment his hands touched the guitar they stopped shaking. He started playing a little bit and then stopped and said, ?I?m a little nervous, I need my partner.? And his wife June came in and they sang Banks Of The River Jordan, which is a beautiful song about dying and being on the other side. It was really one of those incredible moments that you don?t have to embellish. They looked into each other?s eyes when they were singing the song and I just felt so lucky to be a part of it.”
On falling in love with Siri in Her: “It?s a relationship movie but it makes you think about the subjectivity of love and reality and what that is. I like it when my character says to Amy, ‘Do you think I can handle a real relationship?’ And she says, ‘Isn?t this real to you?’ And it is real to him. I love that idea because I think there are a lot of relationships we can look at right now among humans where you might say, ?That?s not a real relationship?. It?s subjective and to Theodore this is real. Also, it deals with things that are specific to relationships that I think everybody can identify with, things that we?ve all experienced. He thinks he?s in love but then he doubts it and while he?s doubting it he gets jealous of Samantha. I read it and I was like ‘Wow, you don?t even see this stuff in relationship movies with humans!’”
[From Daily Mail]
I do buy most of what Joaquin is selling here. He’s very nervous about performing well for directors and not disappointing studios with lackluster ticket sales. He doesn’t simply collect his paychecks and expect that more will arrive without much effort. Outside of film sets, Joaquin’s a pretty low-key guy (especially on the red carpet) and doesn’t run with a Hollywood crowd. The only thing destroying this picture? The classic Hollywood formula of a 39-year-old dude dating a 20-year-old hottie. I still can’t get over that inconsistency.

Scarlett Johansson covers the latest issue of Marie Claire and in it, discusses her love of porn. Okay, her tolerance for porn.
‘I think porn, like anything else, can be enjoyed. It can be productive for both men and women.’
However, Scarlett did acknowledge that there should be a limit to how much it’s watched.
Referring to the lead character Jon in her new movie Don Jon, Scarlett said: ‘If I found out my boyfriend watched that much porn I would be totally flabbergasted, for sure.’
Quick, someone ask Scarlett Joansson who her favorite porn star is. Is it Mia Malkova or Lexi Belle? Not that, I, uh, know who they are.

| Will Scarlett Johansson get her own Black Widow movie' Her costars 'rally' for it | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Scarlett Johansson covers the December issue of Marie Claire UK to promote the international release of Don Jon. The interview (of course) focuses primarily on ScarJo’s thoughts on pr0n. She also fangirls Marty Scorsese while talking about her new Dolce & Gabbana “short film,” which I’ve included at the bottom of this post. Scarlett looks very beautiful in this shoot. It’s worth noting that her mouth is not hanging open in any of the photos, which seems to be her default sultry pose in most shoots.
Here’s a quick diversion: Scarlett’s Black Widow character has made her mark not only in the Avengers movie but also in Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. People are starting to wonder whether or not she’ll get her own movie in the franchise. Do you know who is speaking out on ScarJo’s behalf? Chris Hemsworth. He told E! Online that Marvel needs to make it happen: “I’d live to see a Black Widow movie, I think it will [happen]. It has to. We’ll rally for it. We’ll get it started.” Tom Hiddleston chimed in too: “That would be amazing. Scarlett would really bring the thunder on that.” That’s really sweet of these guys to go there for Scarlett. I think fans would turn out for a Black Widow movie, and she needs to be more than a sidekick to the sausage fest.
Now here are the aforementioned Marie Claire excerpts:
On the big P: “I think pr0n, like anything else, can be enjoyed. It can be productive for both men and women.”
Everything in moderation: “If I found out my boyfriend watched that much pr0n I would be totally flabbergasted, for sure.”
Working with Martin Scorsese for D&G: “I had these moments where I’d be on set and and I’d hear him call across the street [here she shifts into an excellent imitation of Scorsese's charmingly halting conversational style], “Scarlett, can you do another one that’s a little more intimate?” I was like, “Holy sh-t. It’s Martin Scorsese!’”
[From Marie Claire UK]
Meh, I’m so tired of hearing about pr0n. Don Jon was an adorable and funny movie, but enough already. It is funny that Scarlett seemed intimidated by Scorsese. I wonder if she wants to count Marty’s skin tags like she does for Woody Allen.
Here’s that D&G “short film. It’s a minute long and co-stars Matthew McConaughey, whom I am aware of as the killer of all conversation on this site. People need to give Matty some love. He’s cheesy, but he’s amazing.

As Kaiser mentioned in yesterday’s links post, Scarlett Johansson has been named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive for the second time. She was first granted the title in 2006, and she didn’t seem thrilled at all. During that interview, ScarJo was aghast to learn about a British poll claiming she had the best female bum. Her response: “There are plenty of girls with nicer butts. There are plenty of girls who work harder for nicer butts. What about my brain? What about my heart? What about my kidneys and my gallbladder?”
Since then, ScarJo seemed to take great issue with being the “sexy” girl in so many movies. To her credit, she’s built up quite a career for herself. Scarlett surprised everyone by scooping up a Tony award, and she truly kicks butt as Marvel’s Black Widow. Scarlett definitely doesn’t need another “sexiest” title, but she does discuss why she accepted Esquire’s honor again. Of course she’s still got a great butt, and the journo who interviews her creepily writes, “I didn’t look at her ass. I don’t know that she wanted me to. Probably not. Surely not. In any case, I didn’t.” Weird, right? Let’s do some excerpts:
She’s preparing for a staycation: “I’m exhausted and this is my last day in the world. This is the last day, and this is the last piece of work. Then I’m taking a month-long vacation. But I’m not going anywhere, which just makes it more of a staycation. There’s luxury in being near home. When you spend a lot of time, like I do, just standing around and waiting, or being moved from place to place, every minute gets consumed by something someone else has set up for you. And it’s not like I’m always in a beautiful place wearing something gorgeous. I’ve stood around bogs wearing half a million dollars’ worth of jewelry, up to my knees in the rot, thinking how much more or less the place smelled like a sewer than it did the day before. And that is not what you’d call a problem exactly; it just wears you out. What I want to do right now is sleep late, read the paper. I’ve come to see that there’s something pretty great about having two hours to read.”
On accepting the title Sexiest Woman Alive title: “I’m the only woman to win it twice, right? You know, I gotta hustle. I’m a twenty-eight-year-old woman in the movie business, right? Pretty soon the roles you’re offered all become mothers. Then they just sort of stop. I have to hedge against that with work–theater, producing, this thing with Esquire. Sounds pretty bloodless, I guess.”
Does she like jealous men? “Look, I’m with a Frenchman. I think jealousy comes with the territory. But I’d rather be with someone who’s a little jealous than someone who’s never jealous. There’s something a little dead fish about them. A little bit depressing. It may not make sense, but you need to feel it a little. I know, irrational, right? I didn’t think I was a jealous person until I started dating my current, my one-and-only. I think maybe in the past I didn’t have the same kind of investment. Not that I liked my partner less, I just wasn’t capable of it or caring that much.”
Does she need to be wearing sunglasses inside? “I do. I have sensitive eyes. The light really gets me. There’s that. And, well, you know. I have to live behind them, because I’m a movie star.” She lifts an eyebrow, acknowledging the simple truth of it. It’s her trademark I-dare-you glance. Then, with some lip-pursing and a calculated shrug, she pinches her eye and mutters, just like some old guy making sandwiches in his kitchen apron, “Whatta you gonna do?”
[From Esquire]
Scarlett seems to have a firm hand upon her career, and she’s made some really smart moves in her choice of roles over the past few years. Who would have thought she’d have survived beyond the botched Nanny Diaries adaptation? Or beyond Woody Allen’s ScarJo trilogy of zaftig boobery. Now she’s an action star, and she’s got so many other roles in the chute too. Good for her.
This photoshoot really is quite lovely, isn’t it? It’s sensual without being too “in your face.” Esquire styled this shoot very well. Too bad about the slightly pervy journo.

Scarlett Johansson has looked hot for over a decade now so it’s no surprise she was named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive for the second time in seven years. She first won the honors in 2006 and is now the first person to ever do this twice. A real accomplishment for any actress considering 7 years is enough time for them to turn into a shriveled husk of their former self whose roles have dried up more than Madonna’s vagina. See: Lindsay Lohan, Tara Reid.

Here’s the trailer for Scarlett Johansson’sUnder the Skin about an alien seductress preying upon hitchhikers in Scotland.Apart from the movie being incomprehensible because of the Scottish accents, it’s sort of reminiscent ofBlue Velvet. Oh and it also has Scarlett Johansson standing around in just her bra and panties and a naked little person wandering around a field. Two things I’ve been asking for in a movie for years. That letter writing campaign finally worked.
