Amanda Bynes was tricked into checking into a psychiatric facility last Friday, where she was put on a 72-hour psych hold. Amanda got to speak in her defense, but at the end of the day the doctors extended the 72-hour hold to two weeks. Amanda?s parents went to People Mag to frame the story as ?Amanda is finally getting the help she needs, she has mental health problems,? which is great that they acknowledged it and de-stigmatized it, but these are the same people who told media outlets five months ago that Amanda?s problems were the result of her pot-smoking. While Amanda?s siblings rally around their parents, Amanda is apparently pissed off and blames her folks for her current situation:
Amanda Bynes is filled with anger as she sits in a Pasadena mental facility … after her parents created an elaborate ruse to get her committed. TMZ broke the story … Amanda’s parents worked with Sam Lutfi to lure her from NYC to LA Friday. Lutfi convinced her to take a car service to what she believed was a Pasadena law office, where she would meet with a lawyer about suing her parents for abuse. The building was actually a mental facility. When she walked in the front door, she was restrained and involuntarily committed.
Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Amanda feels utterly betrayed and says her relationship with her parents is “destroyed forever.” Although she’s had a poor relationship with her dad, she had warm feelings for her mom … until Friday.
We’re told Amanda is in the women’s lockdown section of the facility … where she is showing fits of anger. Doctors are medicating her, but it takes time for the meds to kick in.

TMZ said that the problem these days is that putting Amanda into another conservatorship controlled by her parents would be ?extremely difficult to manage Amanda given her hatred for her parents.? So what other possibilities are out there?
Amanda Bynes is headed for another conservatorship, but we’re told it almost certainly will not be at the hands of her parents. Rather, we’ve learned Amanda’s doctors are planning to get the type of conservatorship that can keep her confined and medicated for up to 1 year.
Sources familiar with Amanda’s treatment tell TMZ … the plan is to get an LPS Hold — something a judge will grant at the behest of doctors but only if the patient is “gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism.”
The LPS Hold allows doctors to confine Amanda — at either the hospital or another secure facility — and administer meds against her will. The LPS Hold is far more stringent than what her parents could get. The parents could not legally force meds on Amanda nor could they effectively restrain her. We’re told Amanda literally hates her parents now after they tricked her into coming to the mental hospital.
You may recall … doctors got an LPS Hold on Amanda a little more than a year ago after she went off the rails … ending with lighting a driveway on fire and dousing her dog with gasoline. That LPS Hold expired last month. Our sources say the doctors will likely ask a judge for a new LPS Hold within a week … after Amanda is fully diagnosed.

While the thought of forcibly medicating makes me queasy, I also think that in certain situations, it?s a public health issue. Amanda is a danger to herself and others. So, yes, something needs to be done and maybe this is one of the stricter solutions. And I agree that this might even be a better solution than putting her back with her parents.

As I discussed a few days ago, Amanda Bynes gave an exclusive interview to In Touch Weekly. In Touch has released the interview in sections, because? well, Amanda was and is a profoundly unwell young woman and I guess we need to be reminded of her sad cry for help. In the earlier part of the interview, Amanda claimed that she was engaged to a 19-year-old and they?re going to have babies. In this new excerpt, Amanda says someone implanted a microchip in her head. Sigh?
The new issue of In Touch Weekly gives a glimpse inside the troubled life of Amanda Bynes following her latest DUI arrest, with details of the concerning behavior Amanda displayed on Oct. 5 in NYC ? her day spent with an In Touch reporter. The most disconcerting of her erratic behavior was when Amanda told In Touch?s reporter she believes she has a microchip in her head. ?I want a dollar a day from every person who [is] reading my mind,? she told the reporter.
Amanda also insisted to In Touch that she needs a nose job after recently getting cysts removed from her face. ?I look so hideous,? the beautiful star lamented to the reporter. ?Everyone can use a little plastic surgery.?
While many of her ramblings throughout the day made little sense, Amanda made one thing perfectly clear: She wants nothing to do with her parents, Rick and Lynn. ?I was miserable living with them,? she says. ?I would have rather been in jail.?

As for how she?s behaving out there in the world, well? she?s still a danger to herself and others. On Monday night, she was at the Gilded Lily nightclub, ?dancing alone, wearing sunglasses and keeping to herself … until random people started taking photos.? Amanda started yelling at people and then she violently attacked one woman. Amanda allegedly scratched the woman?s neck and arms. TMZ says the woman isn?t going to press charges. Why not? Getting the police involved might be just what this situation needs.
And then yesterday, Wednesday, Amanda shoplifted a hat at Barneys on Madison Ave. Barneys security says she put the hat on and walked out of the store. The hat had a security device and the guards grabbed her as soon as she left the store. The guards told TMZ that Amanda was acting ?crazy? but they let her go before the NYPD got there. After that, ?sources familiar with the situation? told TMZ that she didn?t mean to steal the hat, she had just left her purse in the car and she was going out of Barneys to retrieve it.

Last week, Amanda Bynes got another DUI. As it turns out, her conservatorship ended in September and her parents thought she was ?cured? from the marijuana, so Amanda left home and proceeded to try her damnedest to hit rock bottom yet again. She got her DUI in LA, and soon after her arrest and release, she flew to NYC, which is a bad sign. There were about a million stories last week about her relapse, but I didn?t cover much beyond noting her DUI. One of the strangest stories (in a week full of weirdness) was that Amanda had been kicked out of fashion school after she tried to pay another student to do her work.
My take is still that Amanda is struggling with some kind of (profound) mental illness. This kind of messiness is not JUST from smoking the reefer, although I doubt the reefer helps. Amanda is profoundly unwell. But here?s a question: what is the responsibility of the media during this moment of Amanda?s downward spiral? Do we just act as stenographers, reporting the cold hard facts of Amanda?s situation? I don?t know. But I do know that this In Touch Weekly exclusive interview with Amanda made me feel gross:
Where will Amanda Bynes be making her next trip? Down the aisle, she says! The 28-year-old told In Touch Weekly exclusively that she not only has a 19-year-old boyfriend named Caleb, but also that they?re engaged! Her claim comes days after her arrest on DUI charges in California and a return to the concerning behavior that caused her to spend months under medical care.
?I am very needy for friendship and I hate men. I want to f— them, but I can now say I?m engaged ? get away from me,? she told an In Touch reporter yesterday, Oct. 5. ?I want to be married and I want to be away from people.?
She claimed her 19-year-old fianc lives in Costa Mesa, California, and works in a bait shop. She told In Touch she hopes they can settle down in New York because she ?really [likes] walking and riding [her] bike, and in California, you need to drive.?
?I really do not enjoy driving,? she said. ?I don?t like the way I look in a car. The lighting is very bad.?
After saying ?I do,? she plans to start a family with her husband-to-be ?and hopes to have lots of baby boys.
?I want boys, for sure. However many I can pop out,? she told In Touch. ?I don?t want a gorgeous girl around. Then I [would] feel way jealous. Ew.?
While she has yet to set a date for her alleged nuptials, she told the mag she will be exchanging vows at the London hotel in LA. The former child star is an aspiring fashion designer, and even enrolled in classes at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in California, but she said she?s hoping to leave the dress design up to someone else.
?I honestly would rather not [design my dress], but I?m so particular about how I look that I cannot imagine not designing it,? Amanda told In Touch.
On Sept. 28, Amanda was arrested in California and charged with driving under the influence. Days later, a source spotted the actress talking to herself at Los Angeles International Airport before boarding a flight to NYC ? where she was allegedly seen talking to trees with a Band-Aid on her face.

It?s obvious that Amanda really did give In Touch Weekly this interview and they didn?t editorialize about her situation too much. But if you were on the phone with Amanda Bynes, wouldn?t you want to say, ?Hey, sweetheart. Let?s get you checked into a psych ward, okay?? Also: what?s the over/under on her ?19-year-old fianc? being real person and not just a figment of her imagination?

In 2012 and 2013, Amanda Bynes was a mess. CB and I debated her issues just amongst ourselves, and my takeaway was always that Amanda has legit mental health issues, plus substance abuse problems that go further than ?she likes to smoke pot.? It wouldn?t surprise me if Amanda was/is an alcoholic, nor would it surprise me if Amanda?s substance abuse included meth, heroin, cocaine and basically anything she could get her hands on. After multiple arrests and legal situations on both coasts, Amanda finally was forcibly put into some kind of rehab/treatment center for three months. Amanda?s mother was also appointed conservator over Amanda?s money and her medical situation.
Skip ahead to April of this year? in a weird, out-of-nowhere move, Amanda?s lawyer and her mom issued statements about Amanda?s progress. They claimed she was ?cured? because she was no longer smoking pot, and that she had no mental condition (like schizophrenia, which was the armchair-diagnosis that had gotten a lot of traction). Additionally, her lawyer said that Amanda was completely drug-free, as in she was not on any medication for any mental health issue. It all seemed like another disaster was inevitable. Well, guess what? Yep.
Sad news for Amanda Bynes. The 28-year-old actress was arrested on Sunday morning at 3 a.m. for DUI, the California Highway Patrol confirms to E! News. She has been charged with a misdemeanor after police “determined she was under the influence of a controlled substance” while driving. The former Nickelodeon star was held at the Van Nuys, Calif., station on $15,000 bail before she was released at 12:44 p.m. that same day.
According to officials, Bynes was traveling westbound on Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks as she approached the intersection at a red light on Van Nuys Boulevard. She stopped for the red light, but she stopped in the middle of the intersection, at which point the actress was pulled over and “given a series of field sobriety tests, which she was unable to complete.”
Bynes was then transported to the CPH West Valley Office where she was given a drug evaluation test that determined she was under the influence of a controlled substance (the substance is unknown). She currently has an upcoming court date scheduled for Oct. 23.

TMZ?s sources (probably the arresting officers) say that Amanda was on a ?stimulant? while driving, but the exact drug is not known at this time. Sources also say that Amanda is back to smoking weed all the time now. This arrest will probably affect her probation ? she was sentenced to three years? probation last February. Oh, here?s something I didn?t know: Amanda?s conservatorship ended in early September. Ah!!! That makes more sense. Amanda was back on her own and she fell back into her terrible habits.
PS? Michael K at Dlisted says that THIS is Amanda?s undercover Twitter account. Hm. Whoever it is, she?s been posting TBT photos of vintage Amanda Bynes. So, yeah, why not?

Gearing up for beach bikini season, Amanda Bynes headed over to a Thousand Oaks fitness center on Wednesday (May 28) for an intense workout.
The ?All That? actress spent a few hours at Cardio Barre before emerging with a smile on her face for a job well done.
Apparently Amanda is an avid supporter of the gym as she?s even written a testimonial that appears on their official website.
Bynes gushes, "I have been coming to Cardio Barre for 6 years. It is an amazing workout that tones, tightens, and is so fun at the same time! I am a huge fan!"
Other big name celebrities who frequent Cardio Barre include Ashlee Simpson, Jenna Elfman, Megan Hilty, Dakota Fanning and Melissa Joan Hart.

Amanda Bynes is a lot better these days. After a year of escalating shenanigans (actually, it went from ?shenanigans? to ?Jesus, someone get this girl some help?), Amanda Bynes finally got some help after her mom was appointed conservator over Amanda?s medical, legal and financial well-being. The arrangement sounds a lot like what Jamie Spears is to Britney Spears. Amanda entered a private facility where she got treatment for more than three months. She got out last December, and she is currently enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County. But don?t just write off Amanda?s problems as some mental disorder ? in a weird turn of events, Amanda?s lawyer issued a statement to all media outlets about Amanda?s current condition:
Long before Amanda Bynes was forcibly hospitalized last July for erratic behavior, rumors ran wild about what ailed the former child star.
“There has been much speculation about Amanda’s medical condition,” her attorney Tamar Arminak tells PEOPLE exclusively. “She asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it.”
The actress, 28, who Tweeted pics of herself on April 5 looking happy and healthy while sunning in a bikini on vacation with her parents in Los Cabos, Mexico, was widely reported to be suffering from the disease and bipolar disorder.
A Bynes family source adds that the actress is making strides in treatment. “She continues to undergo outpatient therapy several times a week,” the source says. “She’s still working through the causes of her past bizarre behavior.”
“Amanda currently is on zero medication,” Arminak reveals. “She’s devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She’s never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she’s proud to say she’s been marijuana-free for the past nine months.”
After enrolling as a student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County, Calif., “Amanda is very happy studying fashion and she hopes to one day design her own line,” Arminak says.
Bynes will remain under her mother’s legal control until at least September and currently lives with her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, in L.A.
“Her family is closely involved with her day-to-day life but they try to give her as much autonomy as possible,” explains Arminak. “She’s doing extremely well. Her primary focus is bonding with her family and being a student.”
Adds Bynes’s mother Lynn: “We’re so proud of how far Amanda has come.”

Is anyone else wondering if something shady is about to happen? It feels like this is some kind of pre-emptive strike, or maybe I?m just imagining things in lieu of another Lohan crack drama. It?s true, Amanda is back on Twitter and she?s posting selfies, but thankfully the selfies aren?t like the crazy ones she was posting last year. So, she?s not schizophrenic. Sure. I?ll buy that. I still kind of think she has some kind of bipolar disorder though. And I don?t really understand what being ?marijuana-free? for nine months has anything to do with anything. Oh – her mom issued a statement saying that weed is the reason Amanda was the way she was for more than a year. Really?

According to Amanda Bynes’ mom, that wacky tobacky is to blame for her descent into madness. You see, Amanda caught a case of the reefer madness.
“Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever,” Lynn Bynes tells E! News. “She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar.”
Lynn says that Amanda’s history of unusual behavior, which includes a 2012 DUI, allegedly throwing a bong out of a NYC building and lots of bizarre social media postings, was all caused by smoking pot. Lynn adds that Amanda “is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana.”
Whew.Thank god they treated this before she started hanging out in those jazz clubs and having premarital sex with black people.
Bynes’ lawyer echoed most of her mom’s statement. She’s never been diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, she’s on zero medication, she’s never abused alcohol or drugs and she’s been weed free for the past nine months.
However, still no word if she wants Drake to murder her vagina.

Amanda Bynes isn’t crazy anymore. She’s actually the exact opposite of crazy. The bad news is we won’t get anymore weird half-naked selfies of her in front of her bathroom mirror. The good news is we’ll get better lit pictures of her in a yellow bikini. You know what they say. When one door closes, another less crazy one that won’t set you on fire if you say the wrong thing opens.

Now that Amanda Bynes isn’t crazy anymore, she’s starting to feel emotions normal people feel like regret, humility and embarrassment. In fact, she’s feeling all three of those things right now.
A source tells TMZ that Amanda is almost back to her old self and that she’s horrified about tweeting last year “I want Drake to murder my vagina.” The fact Drake called her a weirdo afterward probably didn’t help either.
Bynes has also stopped smoking weed, is getting rid of those terrible tattoos and people are no longer afraid to talk to her.
Most impressive … Amanda is now at FIDM — the Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising in Orange County — and she’s become so self-confident she makes presentations to her entire class and freely interacts with her classmates.
It’s an inspiring turnaround for someone who was well on their way to collecting cats and throwing them at people while screaming gibberish. She’s probably still a terrible driver though.
