Ah, jewelry p0rn. Where have you been all my life? Last night, BVLGARI hosted a ?celebration of Elizabeth Taylor’s collection of BVLGARI jewelry? and many stars came out to party. Only a choice few got to actually wear some of Elizabeth?s famous jewels though, so I?m including some close-up beauty shots of some of my favorite pieces. I should note something else too ? while Elizabeth Taylor had some beautiful pieces from Bulgari, she had a beautiful and varied collection of pieces from many jewelry designers and some exquisite vintage and historical pieces too. I think it?s bizarre for Bulgari to basically claim ownership of Elizabeth?s jewel-encrusted memory. Still, I never say no to jewelry p0rn.
The best of the evening was probably Julianne Moore in Alexander McQueen. The dress is meh, but Julianne got to wear Elizabeth?s exquisite emerald necklace, purchased by Richard Burton in the first years of their romance. God, isn?t it beautiful?!

Drew Barrymore in Max Mara, with a multi-colored gem necklace. Love it!
I guess Kate Walsh is showing off a ring, earrings and a bracelet. I?m enchanted by that huge cocktail ring on her right hand.
And here?s Kiki Dunst, who is one of the faces of Bulgari (that?s why she?s there, I guess), but I don?t think she?s wearing any of Elizabeth?s jewels??

I love Julianne Moore, and I love to see her on the red carpet. Sometimes she gets it spectacularly wrong, but sometimes she can pull off gowns that other women would look awful in. She’s not at “she can wear anything” Cate Blanchett status yet, but the more often I see her the more I appreciate her offbeat looks. At last night’s SAGs, Julianne wore this white v-neck Chanel gown adorned with black flowers. The bust was poorly fitted, and I found it distracting while she was presenting, but somehow I liked this dress. It’s goofy and whimsical. Maybe that’s due to Julianne’s awesome personality, and maybe she’s so lovely that she elevates whatever she’s wearing.
Julianne won the actor for TV Movie or Miniseries, for Game Change. (For which she also took home the Golden Globe.) During her acceptance speech she named practically every single person who was on the cast with her, ending with the baby who played her son. It was adorable. I could watch that woman read the phone book. She also presented the actor for a female in a comedy series, which went to Tina Fey. Before Julianne read the envelope, she added a little “You Betcha” in reference to their Sarah Palin character. It was cute.
Helen Hunt was in this very classic-looking silver Romona Keveza strapless gown. In photos she looks amazing, but on camera I noticed that something was off about her makeup. Her foundation was too light and her makeup looked monotone, but that was due to way the light hit her. In these still photos it looks much better. The dress is incredible, although I found her jewelry too matchy and heavy for that gown, which should stand on its own. Helen had a lot of stacked bracelets, from Neil Lane, and she told Giuliana on the red carpet that she was also wearing a friendship bracelet from her daughter, which I thought was sweet! She was nominated for lot of awards this season, for her work in The Sessions, but unfortunately she hasn’t taken home anything yet.
Fellow nominee Edie Falco looked strange to me with dark hair last night. I keep seeing promos for Nurse Jackie and blonde hair is much more suited for her. Maybe she’s switched it up for a role. In terms of her gown it was just ok. I can’t get a designer ID on it, but it’s very plain-looking. I think that’s due to the lace from top to bottom. Maybe if it just had lace on the top and a sleeker fabric for the skirt it would have added interest.
I’m adding Julia Stiles as I’d like to talk about her gown. This was just bad, but it’s mostly because of the way the neckline and bodice is cut. The dress itself is kind of striking with that pretty blue grey color with the coral sequin overlay. I like some aspects of it, but the deep tank top look is just dragging the whole thing down. Plus her makeup was overdone and garish. Oh well. She’s always struck me as a strange bird.

Julianne Moore dressed rather conservatively at last night’s Golden Globes in a full coverage black and white Tom Ford gown that looked out of place among the sexier gowns. Everyone kept saying how cold it was, so I’m guessing that she was one of the rare comfortable stars. Julianne said on the red carpet that she had the dress custom made, explaining that she “called [Tom Ford] and asked him to make me a dress and this is what he made and I loved it.” It sounded to me like she didn’t give Ford much direction, he sent her this dress and she just wore it unquestioningly. It wasn’t bad, on screen it actually made you focus on how gorgeous her face was, but the shoulder pads and length gave it a very 80s vibe. The back was open, which lent the dress some interest, but overall it was a snooze, especially coupled with her bun-like updo. Her earrings were gorgeous and I loved her makeup.
Julianne won Best Actress, mini-series or TV movie, for Game Change. I found her so convincing in that role and thought she nailed it. I’m surprised it’s still up for awards this year as I could have sworn it came out in 2011, but it was out in March of 2012. (There was a lot of advance buzz, which explains my confusion.) Julianne was excited, but remained very composed during her acceptance speech, especially compared to some of the younger actresses and I’ll leave it at that. (Video of her speech is here.) I especially liked how she thanked Tina Fey and Katie Couric, “two people who made a significant difference in the 2008 election.”
The best part of Julianne’s speech was when the camera panned to Amy Poehler sitting in the audience, dressed as Julianne in a long red wig and fake teeth. Julianne had just presented and was offstage at the time. I doubt she had any idea that Amy was posing as her. The fake teeth were a little rude, but the bit wouldn’t have worked as well without them.
How cute/hot is her husband, Bart Freundlich? She thanked him “for 17 great years.” Aww! He needs his pants tailored, though.
Julianne’s shoes were hot, you just couldn’t see them.

Stepping out for an afternoon errand-run, Julianne Moore was spotted leaving her New York City home on Friday (October 12).
The 51-year-old actress hit the streets sans makeup while rocking a knit blazer with printed skinnies as her hubby Bart Freundlich followed closely behind.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the ?Game Change? star?s home was recently robbed of more than $100 in jewelry.
Of the stolen jewelry, Miss Moore was reportedly missing a $33,000 Cartier platinum diamond tennis bracelet along with six more Cartier bracelets and four more jewels - 10 pieces in all.

Julianna Moore hit up the premiere of Game Changeat The Newseum in Washington DC wearing this green thing. She looks like the modern day evil queen who gave Snow White the poison apple. The only thing I can imagine after looking at these is Moore crooking her finger at a couple of kids and telling them, “Come here, my pretties.”

These are photos from the New York and Washington, DC premiere of Game Change, that HBO film about the 2008 election, centered around Sen. John McCain?s choice of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. Julianne Moore plays now-former governor Palin in the film, and much like Palin, Julianne eclipsed everyone else at both premieres. Although? I don?t think Ed Harris (who plays McCain) even showed up. For the Washington premiere last night, Julianne wore this green Tom Ford dress which? doesn?t suit her. Look, I understand why all of these women are all over Tom Ford?s new line, but I don?t think it?s all that. This is an ill-fitting mess, and those sleeves are an unmitigated disaster. Tom Ford and Julianne are friends – you would think that he would do better by his girl.
And here?s Julianne two nights ago at the New York premiere. She wore Lanvin, which? sucks. I like the idea of a simple black-and-white gown, but the top part is just awful.
OMG, how adorable is her son Caleb?!?
As for Julianne?s performance as Gov. Palin – well, the reviews are coming in now, and while the film isn?t being universally praised, many say Julianne?s performance is wonderful. Like, Julianne performance as Palin is being described as sympathetic, fascinating and ?flattering.? But not by Sarah Palin herself – Palin describes the film as ?Hollywood lies? from HBO, a ?pro-leftist, pro-Barack Obama machine.? Palin has told outlets that she wouldn?t see the film, though – producers still sent her a screener. Game Change premieres on HBO this weekend. Here?s the trailer again:

Everybody has been talking about this HBO movie, Game Change, for months now. We saw a teaser trailer back in December, and now the full-length trailer is out. Game Change is the movie about the 2008 election, only it?s not about how Pres. Obama became Pres. Obama or anything (or is it?), it?s just about the concentrated time frame of mid-August 2008 to November 2008, basically the last two-and-a-half months in the political landscape where EVERYTHING went crazy. And by crazy, I mean Sarah ?Barracuda? Palin. Julianne Moore was cast as former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, and while I had my doubts about the casting, this trailer has eased my mind a little bit. Not only does Julianne seem to be doing a good-to-stellar job as Palin, Ed Harris really does look like John McCain here. Here?s the trailer:
You know what I like? I like that Julianne (and the film in general) deftly and smartly avoids making Palin into a caricature. Palin, by her own hand and by her opponents?, can easily be made into a cartoon, a piece of fluff, a comedy bit, a party trick. The film seems to rely heavily on anecdotes that John Heilemann and Mark Halperin (authors of Game Change) compiled from disgruntled McCain staffers post-election. Is the portrait of Palin sympathetic? Probably not. But they haven?t made her into a punch line either.

Taking care of some Big Apple promotions, Julianne Moore was spotted at the ?Today? show this morning (October 4).
The ?Boogie Nights? actress was in the house to promote her new children?s book ?Freckleface Strawberry: Best Friends Forever,? and she talked about the dynamics of friendship.
?We have this expectation as children and as adults that we?re going to be friends with someone because they are like us. We both like to do this thing and so that?s why we?re friends? I think, in reality, we really are just friends with someone because we like that person. I think marriage is a good example of that.?
Ms. Moore also chatted about her new project, an HBO drama in which she plays Sarah Palin. ?It was great. I mean it was a wonderful experience? It was an interesting exploration of what it means to be involved in a political campaign.?

These are photos from Friday?s Lanvin show during Paris Fashion Week. Some Americans were in attendance, like Anna Wintour, Rachel Zoe, and this lady we see here, Julianne Moore. Julianne has been wearing a lot of Lanvin the past few years, to very mixed results. I personally don?t think it?s a good collaboration, but I think Julianne?s style - if she ever had any - has significantly gone out the window in general. When Tom Ford was dressing her around the promotional tour for A Single Man, she looked like crap too, so I don?t know what to think. I hope she finds a new designer that actually makes attractive, flattering clothes for her.
As for how Julianne actually looked at the show - I don?t hate the dress, which I?m assuming is Lanvin. It looks sort of like a deflated circus tent, but whatever. I do hate those dumb sunglasses, though. WHY?!? And WHY isn?t Julianne?s hair a normal shade of ginger? Why is it so dark?!? Oh, and Julianne didn?t shave her legs either - or is that a freckle situation? I can’t tell. I?m including a close up of her legs. What the hell is going on with Julianne? Has she gone crazy?
Here?s Rachel Zoe with Rodger. Zoe doesn?t style Julianne, but they?re friendly, and I?d like to see what Zoe could do with Julianne.
Oh, and Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr (in leather shorts!) were at the Lanvin show too, fresh off of Miranda walking the runway for Dior. I?ve included a photo of Orly looking up at Miranda like she?s the light of his life. They are really, really cute together.

Julianne Moore stars as the face of Talbots Fall 2011 line, and she looks ethereally gorgeous and (quite frankly) great in these particular adverts that feature a smart trench coat and a 1940s-styled blazer/pants combo. I never cease to be amazed at the fact that Julianne is 51-years old, and Kaiser wanted me to mention the striking difference between this campaign and the Ann Taylor Fall 2001 campaign starring Demi Moore, who is one year younger than Julianne but far more tweaked in a far-off, Fem-bot sort of way. Has Julianne even had any work done at all? If so, it’s very, very subtle, but I don’t think that anyone has even whispered a hint of suspicion that she’s less than natural and has done anything more than merely stay out of the sun.
However wonderful Julianne might look in this campaign, I still find it vaguely amusing that any retailer was willing to cast aside Julianne’s own dreadful sense of style on the red carpet to hire her as a spokesmodel. Who could forget the bright Pink monstrosity, the hideous two-toned Lanvin, or the peach-pink bridesmaid’s dress, all favored by Julianne herseld in the name of fashion? Not to mention that even Tom Ford has made Julianne look like hell when he dresses her. Velvet eveningwear with a huge ass bow, really? Poor Julianne.
By the way, Julianne also starred in Talbots Spring 2011 campaign as well. Kaiser, CB, and I all agree that they’re far too cutesy for the Talbots demographic or, basically, anyone over the age of 25. I do like the white sweater and gold skirt though.
